This location looks to be very new. The staff was what I have come to expect from Planet Fitness. Elizabeth City is a nice area. This is right down the street from Elizabeth City University. It's next door to an Ollie's. It looks like the PF entrance could be Ollie's entrance until you get close to the front door. I would come back here

This place just did a big upgrade. Finally got new equipment. Pretty happy about that. Only reason I’m still not giving 5 stars is I think they could have added one more squat rack, as I still had to wait for a turn since they only have 3. Thirty minutes on the circuit and then a shower, this was a great stop this evening as I'm driving through North Carolina. I have the "black" card and that lets me use any Planet Fitness in their network.

Easy check in and I found myself in the locker room to store my stuff. No one else on the circuit which was very pleasant. Everything worked just fine. After that, back to the showers. A good hot water pressure though it took a while to start up.

Good luck cancelling your membership. I went in 2 months before my year membership ended to cancel the auto renew, wasn't trying to cancel early just didn't want it to renew on it's own. Employees told me I couldn't do that until halfway through the last month of the membership. Absolutely ridiculous policy meant to screw over gym members, but fine I'll come back. What the front desk employees failed to mention at all is that there is only a 10 DAY WINDOW during your last month to cancel or else they recharge you the $50 annual fee. Employees don't care and either give you the run around or tell you incorrect information. Scummy doesnt even begin to describe this place

The atmosphere is full of good vibes. Working out there reduces stress anger and depression. I can't recommend this place enough. I go to Planet Fitness after I am finished work for the day and also it is where I go on my days that I have off. The people that work here are great; they always greet me with a smile whenever I show up or am leaving. I've been a member for around three years and though at first, I didn't show up regularly, I have grown to depend on this gym and really feel like I would be at a loss if I went without it. Being suggested to become a member was one of the greatest things I agreed to.

The staff is rarely doing anything but playing on their phones, the parking lot is poorly/barely lit & feels VERY unsafe, everything could frequently use a cleaning, but they have upgraded equipment so it’s not completely undeserving of a few stars. I appreciate how clean the staff and members keep the place and the equipment. There is a guy that deep cleans works like a beast! Nice people that work out here. To preface my review I will say I signed up with Planet Fitness (Elizabeth City, NC location) as a Black Card member on July 1, 2023, to what I thought to be a "No Commitment, Cancel Anytime" membership. I can't go on record to say the employee assisting me with sign up said anything specific regarding the "No Commitment" feature, however I do know I was not provided much detail regarding the fine-print in the contract and mistakenly signed without thoroughly reading through what it was I was actually committing to (shame on me, I know!) Well fast forward approximately 9 months, when I'm preparing to relocate to an area without a PF location close by, and decided I should go in-person to my "Home Club" location with purpose of cancelling my ongoing membership--to my dismay, I found out that I would be billed a $58 cancellation fee for doing cancelling prior to fulfilling the 12 month commitment I agreed to upon sign up. As frustrated as I was, I had no one but myself to blame for carelessly signing a lengthy, fine-printed contract and then providing my bank account info without a more thorough review.

Now here we are on July 8th, 2024, and I had proudly reached the end to my shameful 12-month gym membership commitment, having paid all 12 monthly dues on-time, as well as my $50 annual fee--I proudly reached out to my Planet Fitness Home location on Saturday, July 6 asking how to go about officially cancelling my membership since I no longer live in the E. City area-- and if absolutely necessary, I would send a written certified letter with my request. I was told to call back Monday, and speak with management, as they may be able to assist me without going through the hassle of paying for certified postal service. That night, I told my father, who also has a membership at the same PF location, about the situation. Having planned to work-out that night, he questioned the supervisor on duty at the time about my situation who provided him with his email address, and instructed him to have me screenshot a picture of a written statement requesting my cancellation immediately, as to avoid the "..cancel by the 10th of the month to avoid additional billing of monthly fee on the 17th.." and attach the picture to an email sent to the address he provided and that would take care of it.

Doing exactly as instructed, I sent a lengthy email, trying not to take out my frustration on the supervisor who was finally providing me with some assistance. I hate to say it is now July 8, and having asked said supervisor to call me in order to confirm the process was completed without issue, I anxiously anticipated his call.. When I hadn't heard anything back by early afternoon today, I once again, called asking to speak to the supervisor so I could get to the bottom of all this nonsense, as it has gotten to be ridiculous, and I'm quite annoyed. Who would have thought when I was able to get the supervisor on the line the only excuse he gave me was, "I looked at your contract, and though it says you signed on July 1, 2023, you weren't billed for that first month until July 17, 2023, so technically you haven't fulfilled the 12-months of commitment until the 17th of this month", when, once again, I will be billed another $25 for a membership I haven't used since January.

I had trouble keeping myself under control when replying to yet again, more BS coming from the employees of Planet Fitness. I have had easier times getting out of apartment leases! Though I am no lawyer, I believe if any situation could be considered a "breach of contract", than it'd surely be this one. To make matters worse I went on to my PF app to find that my contract had been removed from the "My Contracts/Files" section

Am I going crazy, or is PF a complete SCAM!? I'd find a better place to work out and spend your money if I were you.

This gym is so exactly what you pay for… broken equipment for weeks, toilets and urinals also broke for weeks. Members don’t clean the equipment. Watch them get a paper towel to wipe down equipment and use it as a sweat rag and then use it from machine to machine thinking they are cleaning something. Nasty gym.

I go early in the morning, and what I like best is the desk attendant Christian. His warm and welcoming demeanor really makes working out a lot more tolerable. It's clean and fresh whenever I'm there. My only complaints would be that I'd wish that Planet Fitness would go back to 24 hours. It would really alleviate a lot of issues I have with my scheduling that I didn't have before when you guys were 24 hours. Would love to see this site go back 24 hours in elizabeth city nc...is my only complaint. I use to go with a huge group at night soon as we got off work a 1 am. It was perfect to get my work out in around our schedule. Everybody dont have a morning or day job. So i feel like since covid over they not being as fair to those customers who went mostly nights and are night owls. Club does not adhere to their own rules. I joined for the 30 minute circuit, there are signs that state if you are not doing the circuit you are not to be on the equipment. I have gone more than once and people are sitting on their phones, some are very nice and move but the last couple of times people are nasty and aggressive. I went to the counter and they asked me what I wanted them to do and even asked if people were sitting on their phone. I asked to speak to management and there was no manager. I would love to just do the circuit and be done without an altercation.
