Ms. Sarah Smith-I do not know if you are still the manager of the Hillsborough location of Planet Fitness. But if so, I would like to communicate with you my disgust in the way members are treated differently by different staff members.
My entire family are members. Myself, my wife and my two teenage sons. 19 and 16. Within the last two months, my 19 year old son was threatened with being asked to leave because he was wearing jeans. Tonight both of my son's were turned away because they were wearing closed toed Berkenstocks. These instances occurred in the late afternoon and evening.
I visit the gym 4-5 times a morning myself. Usually 6-7:30 a.m. Weekdays and Sundays.
Every single time I am there, and I have posted this on Google reviews, there are two to three men in jeans or work jeans, work boots with dried mud and several male and females in Crocks. I've watched as they've entered the gym and walked past the staff getting a smile from them. Then gone straight to the exercise floor and started working out. Not going to the locker room to change. None of them. I witness this everyday I go in.
This is exclusivity, not inclusiveness. Flat out.
I resent the fact that my son's are being harassed by some staff at this location. When other members are free to do whatever when it comes to this rule. Most all the morning staff, with the exception of one female on Sundays, do nothing. Look at their phones, chat, flirt with each other...... no cleaning. That's for sure.
So I find it very offensive that my son's are being single out by a rule being enforced by few and not at all by many. The more I hear about what happens to my son's and the more I see the neglect of this on other members, the more infuriated I get. They have been attended the location for years in Crocks and Berkenstocks. As well as off and on jeans.
I hope you will take this seriously and evaluate how this location is running. It is clearly not running on the basis of inclusiveness.
I will continue to post this on Google until it's consistent across the board.

I must say I like the precore equipment at this PF better than the life fitness equipment at other PFs. It's also a bigger gym space too. This PF wasn't busy, which was really nice. There isn't any waiting for equipment, like there is at other PFs.

I've been going to this gym for years now. The staff has recently changed and I mean, completely changed. As members, we were notified of new equipment coming in at the end of last year. It was just put off from one month to the next month and then to this year. When I asked the staff and manager, I was informed that this gym is, "A low priority gym." I was told that it didn't have enough members and therefore the new equipment goes to other gyms with more members. I've noticed over the years that when the equipment breaks, it is down and not fixed for quite some time because it has to be fixed by someone that comes in from a main office, as I was told that by the staff. It is a nice gym, but it has gone a little downhill in the last year or so. No matter who you tell or talk to, the equipment won't be repaired any faster, new equipment won't come in and it is what it is.......it was a 5 star gym a couple of years ago, but not anymore.

The Hillsborough facility is well equipped, clean, and perfectly located for me. Patrick and the rest of the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I left a review on Yelp but I guess I’ll leave another here since the response from customer service basically felt like a “cool story bro”. The woman behind the counter at night is awesome and the facility is always clean. However, it’s not open 24/7 and as a service industry worker, the hours don’t work with my schedule. I thought all Planet Fitnesses were 24/7 so that was a crappy surprise when I moved near this location. Also, the majority of the gym is set up for cardio. The weight machines are outdated and not adjustable for small people. I can barely use any of them. I understand it’s a smaller space than other locations but they don’t even have a smith machine. They have four bench machines which take up space with their limited uses. My hope is that this location can at least update some of their machines. Every other location I’ve been to has had newer versions of the same machines but with multiple adjustment points which absolutely work.

I highly recommend Planet Fitness (Hillsborough, NC location). The staff are friendly and helpful, the facility is well maintained, and the vibe is encouraging and supportive. From day one, Gloria M, has been a warm, kind, helpful presence. Her customer service skills are unmatched. She helped me through the enrollment process, gave a thorough tour, and was super informative and supportive. This place now feels like a home away from home where I am warmly welcomed when I arrive and always leave with a "see you tomorrow, Anitra"! It's the gym version of Cheers and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this! It keeps me coming back, which supports my overall health and well being.

It's a typical Planet Fitness. Management seams a little below average. Machines don't really get fixed all that quickly here, and there is no place to put your drink around any of the weight machines. Most places at least have some cup holders near the lifting machines, but not here. Otherwise, it's pretty clean and usually not too crowded.

The African American lady who was working the night shift last night was very Hateful and disrespectful I have never had any problems with any of the staff anywhere else. I felt a strong feeling of racism. She had a nasty attitude toward me and my friend. I wish the manager or owner sees this she needs to be fired. Nobody should be treated or talked to the way she confronted me telling me to get out. I was there for an hour and she told me I was loitering and not to come back. Unacceptable attitude.

Three people at the desk and the soap dispenser in the men's room was empty. The same two machines in the 30 min room have had the rep counters needing batteries for almost a year now. Two of the machines in the 30 min room have loose hand grips.

Update: After being told by the owner's to bring these issues to the management at the front desk, I wondered why I needed to be the one to inform them when the owner now knows. Now I see why the cleanliness and upkeep of the machines has slipped. I got over myself and informed management and got a story of how the issues would get reported to the head manager and nothing would be done. The associate seemed to be more frustrated than I. As a note: As a Black Card Member, I visited a PF in MD and was homesick for my Hillsborough home location. It would be nice to see the equipment fixed, paper towels kept full when multiple people are at the desk and the rep counter batteries replaced in the 30 min room. Would be nice to also address the numerous private trainers and patrons doing super-sets during busy hours, tying up multiple machines. Do better.

Overall clean gym, really friendly staff. However we pay a $50 annual fee every year that is supposed to go to improving the gym. I have been coming here for about three months and the same two cable machines are still broken, the water machine has been down all week. Located in a nice part of town, HUGE gym but not too busy when I was there. As far as planet fitness goes there was everything me and my guest needed, staff was cool and all the equipment was in GOOD condition... like I've been to locations where the leg extension machine had a back-pad that creaked and kinda swayed port and starboard like a lil dinghy on the high seas but here there was NONE OF THAT NONSENSE and everything was swell. This place is absolutely incredible so many options to work with as far as working out they have a tanning bed and a massage chair that will take you to heaven! Meryl the "manager" needs to be retrained. She gave me a hard time about my guest who's already in the system. Stating she was not in the system. After going back & forth for 20 minutes she asks me for my guest name and sure enough she was in the system. That's all she had to do to begin with instead of giving me a hard time. I was loving this gym location until today's bad experience. When i told her maybe i should work out somewhere else she shrugged her shoulders, rolled her eyes and said "oh well" (no lie). On the night of January 23, I went to the gym and as always I brought my own water, I did a little less than 1 hour of exercise and I left, when I was getting ready to sleep I checked my email, and I realized that I had one from the gym was a bill for water that they were charging me for, when I never drank the water from the gym I brought my own water, the fact that it was the same as the ones they have at the gym does not mean that I drink it from there, it seems to me It is a lack of respect that they have charged me something without asking me or checking the cameras to confirm if I took it, even if it is only $3, they do not have to take funds from my account that are not from the monthly payment just because they assume that I steal some water, I have sent 3 emails to the gym and they did not answer, I am very upset, I wonder if because I am Hispanic they assumed that I had stolen my water? I am not a thief to drink water without warning and without paying for it, and the fact that they take funds from the account just because they want to without warning does not seem trustworthy to me.

I am not happy at all with Hillsborough Planet Fitness. Very upset as a matter of fact. They have changed their hours. They are no longer 24/7. The door says 24/5, but that's not true either. Some days they are 7am-7pm. I went there Friday night all jacked up on my pre-work out supplement and the door was locked. They didn't even have the hours posted on the door. I had to go online to see what was going on. I work out early in the morning and late at night. This does not work for me at all. This has been my home gym for years. I am not satisfied at all. I will more than likely cancel my black card membership there and tell everyone I know to either cancel theirs or not even bother sighing up with them. So disappointing, I will not recommend anyone to Hillsborough Planet Fitness unless they change this and change it soon. 😠😡😠😡😠😡

This gym is nice but it could be better their squat racks are facing away from the mirror. They are backwards so in order to view your form you have to use in an unsafe way. I say this because I mentioned it and they suggested I use it the incorrect way. Even though it’s clearly backwards based off the instructions. Also they do not answer the phone. I was waiting on a tanning bed to start for over 15min and I called customer services and they could not reach them either. It went to VM or they hung up.

New equipment is really nice, my favorite is the rowing machine! And I appreciate the new isolated upper body aerobic machines for guests with mobility issues. Facility is always super clean with plenty of equipment cleaning station supplies! Guest services personnel is always friendly and accommodating. Plenty of well-lit parking in a safe area. Highly recommend!!

Always open works great for my schedule and I love the friendly staff. Plus ppl that frequent this one are so helpful too. helps with tips for a beginner like myself still trying to get the hang of the whole workout routine

Customer Service training is needed for front desk help and instructor! I understand things happen but I had booked two classes online only to find out when I arrived they both were cancelled due to trainer being sick. A courtesy call would have been appreciated. Then while I was there, I went ahead and wanted to tan to only go in the tanning room and the bed to never be turned on. Hopefully my next will be a little more productive than this one.
