Was my go-to Planet Fitness but has lately been allowing homeless to flood into the restrooms to sleep and charge phones. One individual basically lives in the men's restroom. Doesn't affect me in the slightest but with the sign missing, the pot-hole parking lot, and now homeless flooding in for shelter? Im juss sayin

Yeah, all good and everything besides that blower that they used to literally blow the dust from side to side, because after all it's a enclosed space, so the dust just keeps recirculating 🙄 😒, think about it where does that dust goes when is blown up. ( To our lungs, perhaps 🤔 since we're all breathing it)

As someone who you used to go to planet fitness many years ago I have rejoined as well as my husband. Planet fitness is a great place to go and exercise without criticism. The staff is always very welcoming and can answer questions and can help you with the equipment, if you are not sure how it may function. I'm looking forward to spending days at this gym. And getting better control of my health and physical fitness. My goal at the moment is to lose weight and work not have to rely on a cane when I walk. I will surely keep you posted on how that works out.

I am usually here 5 mornings a week. The newer location on North Marine is closer to home, and I have been there a couple times, but I love this one. The staff (especially Tanyka and Jaylah) are always welcoming and kind. If I ever miss time, they always ask after me when I finally make it back. They also know exactly what I need, and I can tell they strive to make everyone's experience feel personal and valued.
If the staff isn't at the desk, they're cleaning, which makes this place pretty much spotless. I can honestly say that this PF makes it easy to stick to my routine, and I enjoy coming here.
I've also utilized the personal trainer services in the past, and highly recommend them. I have the black card membership, and the massage chairs and total body machine are part of my pre-workout regimen. It truly makes a difference in how I feel after exercising, and I'm glad I have the perks!

I have spent years in gyms, and I am big on being comfortable about my gyms. The equipment available and staff. I have found all of it at Planet Fitness. Even though some equipment I can not use, due to joint restrictions, they have plenty of others I can exchange them for. The staff at the Hargett st PF is awesome.

Gabe has been the most helpful staff member I've ever experienced in a gym. Always friendly and polite, positive mental attitude, helpful and informative and I always see him taking care of the equipment and checking on anyone who might need help. He has an answer to every question and has helped me feel confident every time I walk in! If I owned a gym, I would want all of my staff members to be as positive, encouraging and knowledgeable. Worst PF I’ve ever been to hands down. To start with it’s smaller than it looks and there’s barely any machines. Not even to mention the wait for a machine. We got like 4 deviled eggs sitting around one bench like it’s highschool again. and before you deviled eggs try to get butthurt i am also one of you but i don’t take up a bench for an hour.

I have an Active and Fit membership that allows me access to several thousand gyms around the US but the deal PF offered me was cheaper and more valuable that what I could've gotten through my insurance membership. The ladies were really nice helping me get everything situated and completed, they gave me an awesome tour and let me try every massage bed, chair, and tanning bed that I wanted. I really think the black card is such a great deal!

The customer service from the original workers and now managers is top notch. However, the younger staff needs to get with it at times and I do not see the newer employees clean like the original staffers do. Also, lately half the machines go down. When the gym is packed that's a real issue there. They could use some more hydro beds as well and another red light booth. More weights.

Update: they have more weights! Staff is cleaning all of the time. Management shifted a bit for the better and I highly recommended this facility.

Their equipment is very basic, and they mostly cater to New Years resolution folks. No freeweights except dumbells. Their hidden annual fee is dishonest, and it's not clean. The bathrooms are always out of order and smell like urine. Also, it's overcrowded, and there is always a wait during g rush times to utilize the Smith. Machines, cables, etc..

My lady brought me back to Planet Fitness, after I had a bad experience in the past. The new management are ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL !!!! They take great pride in their establishment and you see them working hard while you're there. They are friendly, knowledgeable and caring !! I was skeptical 3 years ago when I joined, Planet Fitness is everything I could ask for in a gym. New river location is all I can speak for as I do not go to the other location but I would assume they have the same atmosphere as well. Friendly staff, customers it truly is a judge free zone. Everyone is there for same thing to get their workout in, no crazy stares or slurs. Very professional and pricing is reasonable

Charged me a cancellation fee after i explained its because PCS orders. Military families are protected under SCRA benefits to avoid this. Called and requested a refund & they denied it. Now i have to dispute the charge with my bank as if pcsing wasnt already stressful.

The trainer is very encouraging, supportive and makes me want to strive to do better! His motivational skills are excellent. His concern for your safety and progress is appropriate, and he is always on top of everything even when he has multiple people in one class! The facility is always clean and the customer service is great. Staff is friendly and doesn't judge you no matter your size. I love that my specific planet fitness I attend is open 24 hrs too. I would give zero Stars if I could but it's not an option unfortunately. Your cancellation policy says you need a written signature in order to cancel and yet you did not need a written signature in order to initiate membership. My daughter had a life-threatening illness and had to have brain surgery and I was nowhere around and have not used this membership for months now. The fact that you cannot cancel a membership that 1. Has not been used in 4 months, 2. Did not require a physical signature to start and 3. I have to go out of my way to be able to cancel due to medical circumstances is phenomanlly ridiculous. Good thing I'm not dead and unable to come in for that cancellation.

I started coming here soon after it first opened and never had a problem. Never felt judged and always felt comfortable in the atmosphere. Never a wait for tanning. Ten dollars a month for Classic membership with automatic draft. This doesn't include any other services, nor does it allow you to bring a guest in for free.
If you sign up for a Black membership which costs $20./month. This will give you access to other services offered( tanning bed, hydro- massage table). Also, it allows you to bring a guest in as much as you want for free.
The gym is open 24 hours. There's locker rooms,showers, restrooms for each gender,( bring your own lock, towel, soap, shampoo, conditioner).
Sign in using scan-app on your phone. Clean, many life cycle tread mills, stationary bikes, weight room, leg press, arm extenders equipment, abdominal machines.

Today was our first time going. Staff was amazing, helpful, and answered all our questions. The machines are in amazing condition, CLEAN area, bathrooms are clean. Used message chairs, amazing. Tanning beds are clean and amazing as well. I felt very comfortable here. Obviously the outside isn't amazing but not their fault. But I'll say the area has come a long way. Just be aware of your surroundings or go with someone. But can't fault plant fitness for the outside.

There are a total of 4 stairclimbers in this gym, I'm currently on the ONLY stairclimber that works; 2 have Out of Order signs on them (one of those has had a sign on it since at least last March), the third isn’t even turned on, and the one I’m one makes a horrid noise when you’re on it (I tried to attach a video, but can only upload a pic). Heaven forbid more than one person should want to use a stairclimber. I’ve spoken with management, he’s spoken with his people, but nothing has ever come of it. I prefer my home gym, old as it may be, and I don’t think that I should need to move to a whole other location to use basic equipment. I’m sure paying the same amount of money……Do better PF

Advice from a former member, once you cancel with this gym, then go to your bank and make sure they block any further payments. They stole a lot of my money and even double charged me a couple times. As far as my experience at the Hargett Street location in Jacksonville NC... it has been good thus far! The area outside the club (meaning the merchant and shared parking lot) is lacking in cleanliness as it is a bit run down but that has nothing to do with the club itself. I spoke at length with Darius Blanding and was pleasantly surprised with his professionalism and pride for his facility. I must add that through this conversation I learned more from him than i did at any other location I've gone to. The staff is experienced and friendly as well as professional. The blackcard area equipment could use some updating but the staff is always working on maintaining its functionality for the members use. I especially appreciate the red-light therapy as it is a part of my recovery process from a traumatic brain injury! It's availability is why I sought out this location. It's an imperative part of my recovery process. Thank you Darius for taking nearly 45 minutes to discuss how the club operates and how to navigate the app for future training sessions/ scheduled classes. We'll both be coming to this location more frequently!

I've been to Planet Fitness's through California Washington Texas Illinois Indiana, and now North Carolina... I've also been to plenty of other competitor gyms. The one thing other than this being a gym for beginner to novice weight lifters that always sat planet fitness lower than the competitors that i complained about more than anything else is the quality of the showers.

Im not sure about anyone else, but i like to take a hot shower before and / or after a workout.

This gym has officially put itself on the top of the beginner to novice gym list because its water is pretty freaking hot. Flawless with everything else, clean cool staff friendly gym enthusiasts

Key reason about warm showers,it loosens your muscles and it warms up your core temperature, which allows your blood acidic levels to rise way faster, causing more damage to your muscles and tendons...This is how they get stronger. Cold showers you go right to working out, and if you're out of shape, i bet you will pull something.

Another note is that your body heals fastest when its core temperature is 1.5 degrees warmer than the standard 98 degrees... fact, look it up when you also your body heals the most shy because its core temperature is rose enough for the most efficient repairs to take place. Warm shower before and after a workout is just like the same for bed.

You will also notice a decrease in your recovery time in between sets if you take a hot shower... fact, don't believe me, try it, then try after a cold shower.

Awesome gym, missing some more specialized equipment/free weights. Great gym for beginners, but might have to switch gyms after a couple years to do something I like more in depth (squats, body building, body sculpting, power lifting, etc.)
