If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Actually, I'd give negative five. Planet Fitness is a SCAM factory disguised as a gym.

Let me paint you a picture: I MOVE to a new city—life is chaotic, I'm juggling a million things—and I naively think canceling my gym membership would be one of the EASY tasks. Oh no. Planet Fitness said “hold my purple smoothie.”

So I walk into the Planet Fitness at my new location, thinking, "Hey, same franchise, different zip code—they’ll help me out!" WRONG. I was immediately met with blank stares and a robotic “You’ll have to contact your home gym.” Oh, I did. And it got EVEN WORSE.

I call the home gym and explain the situation—I no longer live there, I cannot physically go in, and I just want to CANCEL. Sounds simple, right? WRONG AGAIN. They tell me I have to cancel online. Except—SURPRISE!—canceling online is like trying to unlock a secret level of a video game with no instructions and zero chance of winning. There is NO clear option, NO form, just a rabbit hole of useless FAQs and shady links that lead nowhere.

So then I call again. The phone line tells me it’ll be a 10-minute wait. Thirty-five minutes later, I finally get a human being on the line who sounds like I personally ruined their day by calling. Zero empathy, zero solutions. Just a snotty “We can’t help you with that” attitude like they’re proud of being useless.

Let me be clear: Planet Fitness makes it as DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE to cancel your membership unless you physically appear at the “home gym,” which is absolutely RIDICULOUS in 2025. What kind of outdated, manipulative nonsense is this?! I can order a car, dinner, and a doctor’s appointment from my phone, but I can’t cancel a $10 gym membership without hiring a private investigator?

This is a gym that banks on you getting frustrated and giving up. They want to squeeze every penny out of you while offering absolutely nothing in return.

To anyone thinking of joining Planet Fitness—DON’T. RUN. Join literally anywhere else. You’ll thank yourself later when you don’t have to go to war with their team member named shawn who was blatantly rude and disrespectful giving me once again a run around answer on how to stop being a member. I would NEVER recommend this planet fitness or really any to anyone.

The facility is exceptionally clean. During a recent visit, I observed well-maintained, modern equipment in excellent condition. The spacious layout and high air circulation create a comfortable, airy atmosphere. I did not use the restroom facilities during my visit and therefore cannot provide any further feedback on those. Good Gym 💪🏾. Mostly for beginners and medium bodybuilders or fitness enthusiasts, if you are focus specifically on anything else you need another gym. Weight are average, I think dumbbells go to like 70-80lbs. Machine racks for bench, squats etc. Cable machines, and many more. Over all, like I said highest is medium. A lot of Cardio machines, probably the majority, which is good, pretty good for all kinds of environments 👍🏾. The recovery machines massage, and more. And the price is great. From $10-25. You can bring a guest every time 😎💪🏾.

I have been a planet fitness member for a lot of years (MD, FL now NC) and have visited many as I travel all around the country and this one by far exceeds any expectations for what a gym should feel like. They have a woman that cleans the men's locker room. I went in after my workout, nobody was around while I got undressed and put on a towel for the showers. When I turned the corner I saw the woman was there cleaning. I asked if I could use the shower stall and she was fine with it.

After I was done, one of her male co-workers came up to me and basically accused me of being a creep to her. He was upset, claiming I didn't show respect and made her uncomfortable by being undressed.

It's pretty rich to force a woman to clean the men's locker room then have the gall to get upset at men for being undressed around her. That situation is an accident waiting to happen.

"Judgement Free Zone" my foot.

I think it's very telling that the owner never responded to this negative post. They respond to all reviews talking about how they are a 'Judgement Free Zone' and they are all so friendly, but dropped the ball so bad in this instance. And they couldn't even follow up. So when things actually hit the fan here at this club - they won't have your back.

I have been a planet fitness member for 9 years and this has been my favorite location. The staff is some of the best I’ve ever encountered at the gym and they truly engage with you regarding your fitness. I’ve seen multiple members help individuals at the gym with trying to learn a new machine. Or give advice on a workout. Or sometimes just give an individual encouragement. And when you walk in they communicate with you beyond just “hi welcome in.” They are an amazing team.

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for many years. So I have been to many of their locations, with this one being the best. The staff is fantastic and the cleanest one. And now, thank god they have the best trainer I have ever had at a planet fitness. "Trel, where do I start, first and foremost, he knows his stuff, great motivation, great class setups . And I love that he takes time to understand if you have any limitations and offers modifications if needed. And for feeling unsafe coming and going, I'm a 65 year old woman and have never felt unsafe at this location. Keep up the great work

I recently joined Planet Fitness after years away from the gym. I was pleased to find out that a trainer is provided with the membership however, I was not expecting the trainer to be so amazing!! I have taken several classes with Trel the trainer and I have to say each class has been great!! Trel ensures to make the workout challenging based on my goals and he is there to motivate me each step of the way and won’t let me quit (even when I want to lol!) I really appreciate the energy, positivity and dedication that Trel displays each workout!!

My wife and I have been going here since the time they first opened. We absolutely love all the employees and consider them like family. I have never been disappointed with the cleanliness of the gym, or the condition of the equipment. I haven’t been a participant of any personal trainer services until recently. They recently hired a young man named Terrell. I can say without a doubt that he has been a solid addition to their team. He has taken time to sit down with my family and help us develop personalized, and achievable fitness plans. He is personable, encouraging, and professional. Is there anyway to not make it look like your signaling with the building lights coming on during the day. It just seems like you should have better control of the lights that are along the building side. Make them come on at the correct time.

Always a good experience coming in for a workout. G has always been very helpful and friendly. If not at the desk, he’ll be around cleaning the facility. On the days where he’s very busy, he’ll always find a moment to say hi. I like to come in the early mornings, and having someone with positive energy like his is very awesome.

Welcoming gym environment! Staff has always been very friendly and happy to help when asked. Facilities are stocked and clean. It is the most spacious PF I’ve been to. Nice massage chairs and hydromassage tables too! Only wish is that it was open 24 hours on the weekend too but the Hargett St location is nearby!

To the other reviewers concerned with (assumed) unhoused people outside— I don’t know what you’re suggesting PF should do. I consistently go at night and never feel threatened— plus there’s plenty of cameras in the parking lot.

Location is terrible as the homeless & wondering men sit outside most of the day. The Police have been called for one man checking door handles in cars in broad day light. They do nothing. I brought it to the staffs attention as well as the manager & they pretty much said they couldn't do anything. Were very understanding. We had a nice chat about it, however nothing seems to be done. They ask for money, become agitated when it's not given to them. I don't feel safe walking in & out as they roam the parking lot. I'm waiting for the day I come out & my car has been broken into.. Most staff aren't friendly at all, only a few seem to be willing to speak. Tanning bed rooms floors are always dirty.. Locker rooms, and the gym is very clean.. The outside situation needs to be handled. As a mom with a teenager I don't feel safe coming & going..

Several types of cardio equipment, great machines, adjustable for all heights and weight. Easy to understand how to use properly. Shows info on machine how to use. Everyone is there to workout and "no judgement" is true. No one worries about shapes and sizes. We all want to workout. Atmosphere is comfortable and at end of training an awesome reward if added to membership, a chair massage or hydro bed to finish off and cool down. Everywhere we travel we find a planet fitness and workout. So awesome. U really get moneys worth and then some. Great concept.

My only complaint is that they regularly have a woman attend the men's locker rooms. This is disturbing to most of the men I talk to about it in the locker room. I also feel it is not right to have that woman have to see men literally naked while doing her job. I don't know why a woman is being expected to work in an environment with undressed men. I wouldn't feel comfortable if I were a lady in that environment

When someone brought it to their attention, they just perpetually keep a sign up that says that a woman is currently cleaning the men's restroom.

This planet fitness location and the other locations in Jacksonville are by far the two best gyms overall even compared to its competitors, and I've been all over the country.

The most beautiful bathrooms i sense this location of actually newer so it would be unfair to conpared out to the other planet fitness in time your going to get water stains regardless how good your coaching practices are.

Huge gym equipment selection. i want to say more than the haggard location, which is a much bigger layout. The staff is really friendly. I even saw one of my favorites who i presume got relocated to this gym.

The people at the desk are rude, they're bothered when you have to use you # to check in. The smith machines for 1 are layed out backwards. Even though it's less than a minute from my house I would not use this place, bad attitude employees and not willing to look further into any questions members have is just way to much work for them. I'd find ANY gym and I can promise you your be happier than this planet fitness.. not to mention no one could explain why I was charged $77 month. Bottom line when your in customer service you gotta do way better... to the owner, I'd start looking for nice likable people to help because this quality of customer service will just make a business fail.

Used to go to the old location, loving the new one! Closer to home, and brand new equipment. Can get busy but everyone here moves pretty quick so you’re able to use the equipment you want. Only complaint is I checked the “busy meter” and it didn’t reflect as when I showed up, saying it was low but it was packed.

My first time going to this planet fitness location. My plan was to come after the beach to take a shower and continue on with my day. After arriving and trying to sign my guest in I was given an attitude. After I took my shower I was going to sit down and wait for my partner, however I was then met with more attitude, and was told to sign back in after I took a 10 min. Keep in mind this was not during peak hours, according to the heat map, and I never left the facility after signing in originally. This location needs to work on their customer service.
