I’ve had a membership since it opened just about. I’ve been a gym donor for good while, but recently started going 4-5 times a week again.

Positives:

- The equipment and the locker room seem clean. Cleaner than it was kept a year ago in some circumstances.

- The equipment is nice and hardly ever broken.

-The staff are friendly. Always say hello and goodbye.

-The place is not overly busy or crowded. Most the crowd seems to be there earlier than 6pm-7pm when I get there. Except on Tuesday. It’s odd.

-No one seems to be overall aggressive with the PF rules. Meaning I’ve never seen the “lunk alarm” go off or anyone complain about clothes. I’m glad for that, just let people do what they want to work out within reason.

-Mens bathroom seems clean. Not a big fan of the cloth thing under the urinals that just gets kicked around by people, but it’s a decently clean bathroom.

-Waste receptacles are hardly ever overflowing, the staff seems on it lately. A change from what I remember a couple years back.

-Looks like they actually upgraded the treadmill programming, they say S8 now instead of S7 on them.

Cons:

-The top area of the weight machines where you put your phone or whatever looks greasy/odd. Not sure if it’s been coated with something or if it’s just from all the sanitizer over the years. It’s not greasy just looks different than it used to.

-The treadmills tracks are showing their age. If you look at almost all of them, you can see sleek lines on them where people have walked. They still seem to function, and they’re hardly ever broken. It’s a small thing really. Both these things are. They also have standard headphone ports still…like it’s 2008. lol. It would be cool to Bluetooth it so I could hear the TVs, which there are a lot and would be cool.

-The biggest con is the hours. 10pm closing on weekdays and open at 5am. 7am-7pm on weekends. It makes it hard for anyone who works a 12 hr schedule to go. I’d really appreciate an hour widening, especially on the weekends.

As a long time member of Planet Fitness gyms, I’ve been a member at 4 different ones in different cities, and visited over 9 different locations. All are great, but my current home gym stands out above them all. The staff is incredible and obviously hand-picked and well trained in like-manner of what this gym represents. The gym is always clean, especially the locker room, which is so important. The equipment is well maintained and the staff is always there to to help and assist with an attitude that makes you feel comfortable and important. I just moved here from SW Florida a couple months ago and was a Planet Fitness member for over 10 years. I was hesitant at first since this location isn’t 24 hours, but extending the hours even just to 11pm would make a huge difference, especially those with kids. 👀 That said, I’m really impressed with how clean it is, the super friendly staff, and the wide variety of machines (no long waits!). Plus, plenty of stair masters—my favorite cardio! Overall, a great gym!

In my 63 years, I have exercised in gyms spanning the globe. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for ten years and have visited many in numerous states, but this is the Most Exceptional Gym I have ever encountered! The key is the staff with their encouraging nature and their cheerful alacrity! To exemplify, I was a bit down in that I have a triathlon pending to celebrate my birthday and felt that I hadn't trained hard enough. Superstar Team member Matt absolutely bolstered me, said that I was doing great, and asked if he should call me for inspiration! Not 24hrs. I know locations vary, but the 24 hour operations are the main selling point. Being able to use all PF is pointless if they aren't all the same hours. The next closest location has totally different hours than this one and not a single 24hr schedule.

I keep forgetting to write a review about this gym! But i absolutely love it here! the staff and people are so friendly and the gym equipment is great! Also if you don’t have a lock for the lockers you can have your bag beside you as long as it’s not in anyone’s way! This gym is normally my main one! But the only problem is they close a bit early so I go to the Little River one at night when this one is closed and when Pam isn’t there at the little river one! :) I highly recommend this gym to everyone who wants a nice place, with nice staff and a good morning or night workout! I've been going to Shallotte PF for years now and the staff has always been so attentive and friendly. They keep PF very clean too. I have visited other PFs and although they may have had more Black Card options, their equipment was dirty and their staff preoccupied. I would take my Shallotte PF over them any day. I used this location while traveling and found it to be clean, with plenty of equipment, clear guidance for specific areas (e.g., the 30-minute circuit) and friendly staff. The only suggestion would be to make the small lockers in the main area combination locks like all other locations I've been to. It seems the purpose is convenience and bringing your own lock just to toss in jacket and keys doesn't seem to make sense.

Noah has been and continues to be tremendously helpful in answering my fitness/nutrition questions and—upon my request—introducing me to workouts both in the functional training area as well as machines with which I do not have familiarity.

He does so in a courteous, professional, and both confident & humble manner. If there is a question I have to which he does not have the answer, he honestly lets me know that and demonstrates an admirable interest in researching that topic.

I have a vast understanding of both personal and professional liability, thus I never expect any associate at PF to definitively tell me what is and isn’t good for my body—nutritionally or otherwise. However, Noah and I have had a number of mutually productive health conversations from which I have gathered knowledge I did not previously have and have organically integrated his responses into my own fitness choices.

Furthermore, that integration has further helped me help others in terms of guidance requested of me outside the gym.

Also, Noah is a team member I recognize to have a variety of club duties as well as multiple member inquiries throughout his shift. He is impressively capable of handling a great deal of multitasking during peak hours as well as giving thoughtful, one-on-one attention to members.

Noah also demonstrates a balance of professional focus with a friendly and charismatic demeanor. He clearly takes the job seriously but also has a warm, playful spirit that brings a fun vibe to the club.

I know firsthand that he is highly regarded by other PF associates as well as other club members of all backgrounds and generations.

I parked there on my semi for gym and shower. Easy in and out. Shower is excellent pressure. Everything maintained well.

UPDATE : Discussed issue with management and situation RESOLVEDThe machines are great and up-to-date the place is very clean the only problem is that I've tried to get my planet fitness account transferred for the past 2 months and it still has not gone through. Most of the staff is very helpful and wonderful but the entire no judgment zone attitude is not followed by all of their employees.
