I was vacationing and needed a gym to use for a little over a week. There's definitely a variety of free weights and equipment. Indoor pool and outdoor pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. . . . . My only complaint is the sauna and steam room. They turn off automatically. So half the time you have to wait for them to get up to Temp just to get a good sweat on after your swim or lift. Men's sauna desperately needs some attention. A little pricey as well.

Great place to relax until you are in the whirlpool, and they start some swimming instruction for children I believe under 5 years old. The Children Swimming Instructors believe that it is ok , for the child to scream and cry through out there instruction . at the top of their lungs , no matter what, while the parent sit and watch their child in distress, I was always taught that children should enjoy themselves while learning something new. But I guess this is the new way of teaching

Go here only for my children's swim team practices. From what I can see, the operation of this facility is pretty good. Indoor 25m pool with 5 swim lanes, a pretty sizeable indoor hot tub. Nice sized workout center. Then a 50m outdoor pool with swim lanes and public access. Parking is a little wonky, and seems too small for the capacity of the sports center.

Overall, SC is the place in Morehead City to reach your fitness goals. Has a vast majority of equipment and amenities for any type of athlete. It is family friendly and the staff is great.

My only wish is that they would stay open an hour or two later, at least for premier access members(24/7). There seems to be a decent amount of people that work out from 9pm to 11pm. I work out after my evening shifts, which usually is about 9 o’clock. So I have to pay for the premier access as it is. And frankly, I feel like I’m paying more for less. I’d like to be able to use some of the amenities (sauna/steam room, & pool/spa) but unfortunately my schedule cannot make that happen.

Regardless, I still pay because of the array of equipment that can help reach my fitness goals and I refuse to give money to fitness franchises close-by with not nearly the amenities SC has..

Took a tour of the Sports Center as a visitor with a renewing member. This place is an extreme value for what you are paying for it!

Back home I pay for 2 people to access a local gym (free weights, cardio, group classes) about 75% of what my dad paid for 3 adults and 3 kids here. For all that you're getting, they are not asking a lot.

There is a very wide range of activities and amenities available here:
- indoor pool
- outdoor pool (in season)
- cardio room
- 3 free weight rooms
- racquetball courts
- basketball courts
- protein bar
And I may have missed others I didn't notice.

The interior is a little dated, as are some of the machines and benches, but all of the equipment seemed well maintained, with no evidence of abuse by members, and there is a more than adequate range of machines and free weight benches and racks, etc. available.

The front desk staff were upbeat and seemed very eager to help us. They were smiling and very pleasant to interact with, even though they were very busy.

I would prefer a 24-hour access option, but they are open early so this is not a deal breaker for me.

It definitely felt like I was stepping back in time when I walked in here, but that is not meant in a negative way. So many places just focus on one or two activities for their members. It was really nice to see pools and racquetball courts in a gym again! More places should consider these options.

I don't think you can go wrong here, and I have not heard any complaints from my family that live in the area and come here to work out or enjoy the pool.

A male employee, named Taylor (I think), climbed through a window to help me located a lost phone. The room was locked and the key was missing. Amazing help. I've been to a ton of gyms in the last 25 years and this one is top notch! Visited for a couple weeks while traveling through with our RV. Space and variety of equipment was great, super friendly staff, well kept and clean. Love the 3 lifting rooms, with more than ample free weights and machines. I love the Sports Center here in Morehead City! I have a personal trainer who has helped me become a better runner by working all of my muscle groups and keeping me balanced. The facility has something for everyone, too. My son and I love playing racquetball and swimming in the pool over the summer. It is a definite plus in my life and I always look forward to heading to the gym in the afternoon.

I enjoyed this place. Im going to be sad to miss the Morehead City community. Place is clean and there’s adequate workout equipment as well as a pool. I have two complaints: As a passionate swimmer the staff lacks to enforce saftey policies with children playing while people are lap swimming. The indoor pool is for lap swim and that should be the priority over people playing Marco Polo. Additionally, the staff are very quick to rush people off the indoor track 15+ mins before closing. In fact, they have shut the lights off on me numerous times when I still had 18 minutes left to walk. All in all, if I find myself in Morehead I would say this place has all the amenities you need to meet your fitness goals. Thanks SC.

Used to go to this gym 15 years ago when I was a young buck. Now 15 years later I've moved back to the area and they are still an awesome family owned family operated and family oriented gym. They keep the place clean, the daycare ladies are super sweet to our 2 boys the staff are always kind and they offer anything and everything you could want out of a gym without all the corporate BS of big name gyms.
