You can go to any gym and get a workout. Body Games offers flexibility, support, community, motivation, and absolutely TOP TIER coaching and expertise.

Reasons it might not be the right gym for you:
1. you don't like fun.
2. you don't actually want to improve your health and wellness.
3. a friendly, supportive community sounds terrible to you.
4. you have all the time in the world and the super flexible schedule is offensive.

I can't say enough good things about this place, y'all. Come give it a try, all the good ratings aren't an accident...you might even make some great friends in the process!

There was an Atlantic article about the importance of having a "third place" - a place outside of work and home where you feel rooted in yourself. I joined Body Games more than a year ago and this gym has become a third place for me. I attend the strength training group fitness and find the workouts challenging, motivating and never boring or repetitive. Everything about this gym is positive and free of ego & judgement: you're working out with people of all ages and backgrounds and everyone is so friendly! There are some ladies in the group who are so inspiring to be around. The coaches DJ, Dominique and Michelle are all awesome and encouraging and provide helpful advice on form. They also provide body composition check-ins and help you with your diet. I feel strong for the first time in a long time.

I've been a lifelong athlete but Body Games has been my first experience with both group workouts and strength training. I love the structure of the classes-everything is laid out ahead of time and it's great, I want nothing to do with designing my own workouts. There isn't a push to lift heavy or to do anything that might cause injury, everyone just works to their own ability but dang are they willing to cheer you and everyone else on if you want to push! I always feel comfortable asking for help or a clarification on an exercise, and I love the community that exists here.
When I picked a gym, I really picked the closest one to my house that had workout times I could fit in my schedule. I consider myself incredibly lucky that this happened to be that gym--even if I'd shopped places and been more discerning, I couldn't have found a better place to start a new chapter in my journey as an aging athlete.

Growing up I didn’t have anyone in my family to teach me about fitness. It was something very foreign to my family. It wasn’t until I had my second child that I realized that this weight was not coming off as easily as the first child. At that point in my life I started to do home workouts and focus on clean eating. I knew that it was something that I would not be able to sustain because I was not disciplined enough. So I struggled to find a place to work out. Then I met Dom and DJ. I began to work out at a different gym. While the workouts were great, I just didn’t feel at home there. I felt like something was missing in my life. I dreaded going but the only thing that kept me going back was their encouragement, friendship. Shortly after, Body Games was born. I knew from day one after the first workout I found my people. I found my tribe. I found a love for working out. I loved all the different workouts they provided us with. It’s not just a gym. Short version - join, 100% worth the investment in myself and my health!

Longer version - I have always gone through seasons of exercising. I have never been a person who loves working out and have been terrible at going to a gym. I would find myself motivated only to get bored with repeating the same things and lack of variety, not knowing what to do to get results and overall lack of motivation.

I would always see people at Body Games, even around 6 am. I finally decided I would check it out and much to my surprise, I was able to try a class for free! What's to lose?

I went to my first class with Michelle and LOVED it! Nearly immediately purchased passes. Not only was it such a great energy everyone there was so nice. It's not cliquey at all, you meet new friends nearly immediately. I can't say enough about all of the coaches! They each bring a different personality and vibe to their class but 100% of them are encouraging. Even just hearing them walk by shouting your name 'Go Amanda!', might sound dumb but it's encouraging.

The thing is, I find myself wanting to go which has never been me! I went out of town and was bummed to miss a Saturday morning! So much variety not only in the actual exercise but the structure of the workout that keeps things interesting and exciting.

Icing on the cake, I went for a run after a few weeks break and my lung capacity and stamina were leaps and bounds improved! There's a reason this locally owned and run gym has been here for 5 years and why they have a 5 star rating.

I couldn’t be more thankful that I joined Body Games. Here’s what I like in no particular order:

1) The owners/coaches: No crazy aggressive, macho, toxic gym culture. The coaches give great form corrections and while they may gently challenge you to lift more (if they see you can do it), safety is ALWAYS first.

2) The music: The music is poppin’ and keeps the class moving.

3) The community: People are nice and I never feel judged. The internal social media network is active. People are always posting tips, tricks, recipes. There are a mix of social events as well as informational events like for nutrition.

4) Class times with childcare: I like the morning classes but I love knowing that I have childcare if I need it for evening and weekend classes.

5) Encourage accountability: I love the You vs You journals and the overall mantra of the gym. They truly make it a space where you feel like you can grow depending on your goals.

I sincerely wish I had found this gym earlier.

I joined the 30-day back-2-you challenge after eyeing Body Games for a good year. I'd been working out, mostly at home, for several years now, mainly because I've had chronic lower back pain (from 2011-2022) and was very scared to aggravate it all over again now that it was finally managed. I have a tendency to push myself very hard in group workouts, and in the past I've re-injured myself because I wasn't staying in tune with my body, especially with time-based workouts. Long story short, I couldn't pass up the $30 for 30 day deal and I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! One of the things I missed most about being in a 'real' gym setting is the sense of community that comes with it. I love that DJ and Dominique set the tone for that camaraderie from the moment you walk in the door, and I'm also starting to get to know the people in the morning classes I tend to go to. Beyond that, the workouts are phenomenal. Yes, they're super-intense, but the attention to form is there, modifications are given as needed, and the coaches come and check on you regularly during class. The workouts are fast-paced, but manageably so (and you're not doing anything specifically for time, if that makes sense), and if there's a chance you wont finish, you're told which moves to prioritize to get the critical pieces of your workout in. My back actually feels every better than it did before I started (probably because I was being a bit too fearful and not doing enough on the heavy weights), and I'm sure I'll see lots of progress as I keep going. I'm so glad I decided to finally give this place a shot!!! This place is a gem :-)

I stumbled upon their Instagram page and immediately knew that The Body Games was something I had to add to my regimen. This is a good supplement to my indoor cycling membership as it includes strength training. DJ and Dominque have been nothing but friendly AND encouraging. Bodygames is a great gym and community. I tried their 7 day free trial, and was so convinced I'd do well here that I went ahead and got a membership for a year. They have great childcare at no extra cost, and fun activities throughout the month. I've been consistently going for 4 months now, and already feel so much better. Before, I was 6 months postpartum and in the worst shape of my life. Everything ached, and I could hardly get out of bed without a lot of effort. I’ve been a member for 7 months now and love that I get a great workout that’s different every time and I just have to show up. Includes time for stretching the right muscles for the day’s workout before and after class. I don’t do anything high impact (no jumping or running) and there are always modifications offered to accommodate that. I have been going here for about 4 months, and I feel like this is the best decision I ever made for my health. I’m 50, I’ve always been “active” but never formally exercised. I decided to try the gym after I injured my back picking up a laundry basket. 🙃 Thankfully I recovered, but I knew it was time to start taking preventative actions. Body Games is my favorite gym in Durham!!! I attended my first class last April (2022) with Classpass, I had been trying all the gyms in the area to find a good fit. I immediately fell in love with Body Games after that first class, I signed up for a full membership shortly after and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for my fitness. The class environment keeps me accountable, I have never been in a space that is so encouraging and fun, nor have I ever been able to commit to a program for over a year until going to Body Games. The coaches are amazing, they really do care about your progress. The music is great and the vibes are immaculate, the Coaches make you feel at home and truly welcome everyone of all fitness levels. Their programming also REALLY works, they help you track your progress (PRs!) and design classes that push us towards our goals. When I started I could barely deadlift 80 lbs...now I am up to 215 lb PR for deadlift!! I have gotten so strong and am seeing incredible results, most importantly I have never felt intimidated because everyone is encouraging and kind. Thank you Coach DJ, Dom, Amber, Ashley and Melissa!

HIGHLY recommend!! I started going to Body Games maybe a year and a half ago and went once a week to give myself something to do while my daughter had dance class (this was at their old location). I always felt really welcomed and encouraged but never pressured to come more often. I live a good 20 minutes away, but I slowly started adding another day here and there, and worked my way up to where I'm there 5-6 days/week now. The owners and staff, the community, the structure of the workouts, and how great I feel are why I make a point to make the drive every day. LOVE this family! I’ve been a member at all kinds of gyms, but BodyGames is the best, by far. The coaches are knowledgeable, warm and fun and know how to push me while still keeping me safe. There is a lot of variety to the workouts and always modifications so that the movements are doable for everyone. I love the group workouts and appreciate that there are people from all walks of life and all fitness levels working hard together. I have met some amazing new people and reconnected with old friends, too! The culture is one of “we’re in this together” while we all work on being our best selves vs a culture of competitiveness and intensity. I’m the strongest and fittest I’ve ever been, thanks to the BodyGames team. Highly recommend to anyone at any stage of their fitness journey!

The Body Games Center is second to none! Rather than an exercise center, the proper moniker here is a health and wellness “no judgment zone.” They promote healthiness and success through massages, one-on-one coaching, yoga, exercise classes, personal training, etc. The Body Games Center is family-owned but, with so much concern and unwavering compassion, makes you also feel like you are a part of their family.

I am very pleased with this center because it offers more than just a physical workout, they focus on your mobility which is key to obtaining the best workouts without injuring yourself. Furthermore, coach DJ ,here at the Body Games center, knows how to help you achieve your goal whether it is to be stronger, faster or healthier. Additionally, if you have any pain associated with the knees, hips, shoulders, or lower back coach DJ got you covered by providing you with alternative to the workouts. Furthermore, there is no other center like this one because it provide on-site physical therapy bridging the gap between a physical work out and physical therapy
