I stumbled into train Matthews, and now I truly believe I was brought there by the universe! I have never felt so strong and can see the results all ready after just 2 months.Nic Is an excellent trainer and person, he takes the time To answer all questions and make sure you are performing to the best of your ability to achieve your desired goals. It is truly a community atmosphere, and I am happy to be part of the family! Train Matthews is an amazing place and great community! I'm about 3.5 months in on my journey, but was hooked day 1. The programming is on-point with endless variety to the workouts. You don't have to think about what to do, just show up ready to put work in! The coaches are great about helping with modifying movements to fit each person's needs! Come check Train out!

Train is a fantastic facility, Nic is great person with extremely positive energy. I came in for an event he was nice enough to allow use of his facilities for and was blown away. I’ve lived in the area for 2 years now and wish I’d found Train earlier, I will definitely be coming again to experience what Train has to offer on a personal level. The facilities are very clean, well organized, spacious and the equipment is top notch. I did not have the pleasure of meeting his wife Kelsey, but the softball facilities on the other side of the wall are amazing, I can’t wait until my daughters are old enough to attend and push toward D1 goals. Thank you Nic for taking the time to introduce yourself on a personal & professional level, Train will definitely help you on the path to obtaining and exceeding your physical/mental health goals!

No matter what class I attend everyone is so nice and helpful. The coaches really help you find your starting point and make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. Always a great workout and the class setting helps motivate you to give it your all. I actually look forward to working out!!

Nic is a great coach who genuinely cares about seeing people reach their full potential. I showed up with a history of knee problems and Nic always took the time to tailor workouts that challenged me while not aggravating injury.

Two AMAZING experiences- one location....
Classes:
I joined Train Matthews after a very long hiatus from Crossfit (about 7 years); I had tried other area boxes but after being gone for so long, they were intimidating and left me weary of another injury. I had previously worked with Nic (owner/coach) and thought I would check out Train Matthews to see if this was the right fit. It absolutely was. My boyfriend (who has never CFd) and I popped in for a Saturday class. The coaches explained the movements and offered modifications since we were both just getting started. For my boyfriend, a novice but still fit, didn't feel like he was oblivious and lost; I felt like I didn't have to push myself to keep up. Nic also checked in with us throughout the WOD to see how we were doing. The other people in the class were unbelievably warm and supportive as well. As for the gym itself, it was clean, well apportioned and had enough equipment to support the class. If you are a seasoned CFer or just getting started, I recommend that you try Train Matthews- the coaches, community and workouts are worth it.
Personal Training:
As mentioned above, I took a hiatus from CF and really wanted to get back into it- but I was scared of getting hurt so I enlisted a PT @ Train Matthews to help me with my form. I just finished my initial session with Ian- and he was great. He listened to me as I explained my concerns and limitations. We established some goals for the day and got to work. He had a great eye for form; he could see my areas of weakness and coach to them. His coaching style is easy and calming- his queues are on point. Most importantly, he checked in on me throughout to see how I was feeling both physically and mentally. I am looking forward to our next session.

I couldn’t ask for a better gym. I had done CrossFit for 4 years prior to moving to Charlotte and Train Matthews was the first place I checked out when I moved. Just one class and I knew I had found my new home. Nic and Kelsey are not only talented CrossFitters and coaches, they are also incredible people and friends. They make everyone that walks through the doors feel welcomed. Train is a spotless facility with all the equipment a CrossFitter could want, but most importantly the community is awesome. The programming and workouts are challenging but the scaling options make the gym a fit for not only the world’s best athletes but also for someone looking at getting a workout in for the first time in their life. I've been to several crossfit locations and this one by far surpasses them all! If you want to find a place where you feel encouraged, supported and like family regardless your age or skill level, look no further. Coach Nic is a great trainer he offers such patience but shows you no slack, he will help push you passed what you thought were your limits. We work hard, play hard and believe in one another. Train Matthews is CrossFit for everyone- serious athletes, wannabe athletes, moms of 4(that’s me!), people who have never set foot in a gym, and everyone in between. Train Matthews has changed my life. I walked in the door with pretty much no confidence. I couldn’t lunge, jump or squat. I was extremely out of shape and overweight. Nic met me where I was at the time. He modified all moves to where I was working the same muscle groups as the other people working out. He helped me become a healthier, happier version of me. I am now down almost 100 lbs and may have to modify a few things still but am continuing to improve. I’m living my best life. Love this place and the community we have built. I had never done crossfit before and even as a former collegiate athlete, I was intimidated to get started. This is the first and only gym I have been to and will probably never go anywhere else. There was no need to feel nervous as everyone is so welcoming and all skill levels are tailored to, no experience needed. Just bring a good attitude and be ready to work hard!

Train Matthews was just the right spot to start my journey back to Crossfit after a 18 month break. Work has changed and I couldn’t commit. This place has just the right antidote for a lazy 18 months.
Coach Nic has a special talent for programming and driving people towards your goals. You can find all types of people here. Long time crossfitters to new bloods. Nic makes sure to tailor each workout as needed just like the Crossfit way. The small community is growing and support is everywhere.
You cannot go wrong training here. It’s the perfect fit for me, my wife, and my brother Kyle. I joined as soon as I find out who owned it. I drive past two Crossfit gyms to train here. It’s the perfect mix of brand new equipment and warehouse to give you the mentality needed to dive into the workouts and push yourself.
And it’s always clean!!!

I have been a member at ten or so crossfit locations over the years, and have dropped in at another fifty or sixty boxes around the world... and this gym is top notch. Very nice facility and the owners Nic and Kelsey are fantastic. Nic does the programming and most of the coaching and is probably the best coach I have worked with across the board. I don't live in the Charlotte area but am there several days each month. There are actually a few gyms that are closer to where I stay but it is well worth the extra distance to make it to Train Matthews. If you are an experienced Crossfitter, you will be challenged there. If you are just starting out, you will find the coaches and other members there to be welcoming and encouraging. Would recommend this gym highly regardless of your skill level.
