Anyone can make you sweaty and tired, our strength and conditioning group training focus is on delivering real, sustainable results. We achieve this through an intentionally designed, progressive program that translates into meaningful improvements both inside and outside the gym.
As an official HYROX affiliate gym, we also provide specialized HYROX training classes.
Additionally, we offer Open Gym access, Personal Training, and an on-site Nutritionist to support all aspects of your fitness journey.

I have been working with Workhorse’s Amber Springer since June 2025 to increase my endurance and strength for school and club soccer in preparation for college soccer in Fall 2026. The progress and growth I see on and off field have been AMAZING! When I first walked to Workhorse, my heaviest squat I could do was 95lbs. By October my squat was 140lbs. The work Amber puts into me and the work I have seen her and other trainers put into their clients is 100% every session. They are very personable with each client they work with and care about your performance in the gym and also how you’re doing outside of the gym between sessions. Definitely recommend 💯!

Our whole family loves this gym! Even my teenagers (12, 14, 16) have made great progress on their health and athletic goals under Coach Gavin's training. He is very knowledgeable, patient and inspiring. So glad to find this outstanding youth program that not only focuses on strength and conditioning but also focuses on injury prevention and their individual health goals.

Amber helped us meet our goals; she is knowledgeable in how to help you progress in strength; she encouraged us and pushed us 'just enough', actually based on our own motivations. An Elite Gym with an Even Better Community
I can’t say enough good things about this gym. Whether you’re training for HYROX, building strength, or pushing your conditioning to the next level, this place has it all — top-tier programming, well structured classes, serious equipment, and an atmosphere that makes you want to show up and work hard.
But what really sets it apart is the community. Everyone is supportive, driven, and genuinely welcoming — no egos, just good energy. And the owners? Absolutely top-class. They’re not only incredibly knowledgeable but also deeply invested in every member’s progress. You feel seen, supported, and challenged every time you walk in.
Hands down the best gym I’ve ever been a part of. If you’re looking to level up your training and be part of something real — this is the place.

Exactly what I was looking for and needed. Challenging but doable workouts, programming that is well thought out and specific for getting results, every trainer is a true educator who motivates and inspires. The gym is so clean you can eat off the floors. Ok, maybe not that but if I HAD to eat off a gym floor…this is the one. I feel better than I have in years. Stronger, more confident and excited for each workout. Super positive growth minded environment for kids and adults.

As a stay-at-home, homeschool mom of four, and mil spouse of a regularly traveling soldier, I was honestly hesitant to join a gym. Both the time commitment and trying to "fit in" with the regular gym goers felt overwhelming to me. But after struggling with my health and fitness the past few years, my husband really encouraged me to prioritize my fitness. So I joined. At Workhorse, I've truly felt welcomed by coaches and other athletes alike and I'm constantly impressed by the knowledge of the coaches. Not only do the coaches come up with creative and purposeful workouts, but they are always helping me tweek little things that make a big difference in my form and performance. In the group classes, they somehow manage to meet each athlete exactly where they are and yet push us all to new limits.

I was in the area for a training trip found Workhorse Fitness. The staff was incredibly welcoming and had no issue with allowing me to train in their gym while I was in town. They're incredible military supporters and gave me personal attention.
The facility itself is 1st class. The gym is a large space that allowed me to train the way I wanted and seemed to have almost any equipment you would ever need. The place also had group classes going on, which was nice that it didn't interfere with the individual training. I enjoyed my experience with the facility and staff so much that I have since been utilizing Tiffany for remote programming. She built my program specific to my goals, you can tell its not just some pre-built program. Highly recommend this gym and their programming.

My fitness goals have shifted and changed over the years but Workhorse has been there to support every single one. Workhorse now goes the extra mile and provides an open gym space that allows me to strengthen and train on my own timeline while still being a part of the community and surrounded by knowledgeable coaches. Workhorse is simply the best fitness program and community I have ever been a part of. Coaches Tiffany, Joel, Laura and Amber make every workout count and provide progressions for those at different stages of their fitness journey. Even at age 64 and with two bionic hips, I can honestly say I am in the best shape of my life and continue to gain strength and endurance with the support of Workhorse coaches. This is more than a gym or a place to work out........It is a community. You'll want to be a part of this and it is right in downtown Southern Pines!

Where Legends Are Forged!!
I started at Workhorse Fitness with the humble dream of being "less dad bod, more god bod," and let me just say... Joel delivered. In my first session, he taught me how to harness the power of the sun — not metaphorically, but literally. I’ve stopped using electricity. Thanks to Joel, I charge my phone using solar flex poses and bench pressing beams of light. Efficiency, strength, and renewable energy, all in one.
Speaking of superhuman feats, Workhorse also excels at practical skills. By week two, Joel had me taming tigers. You'd think that requires a whip or a stool, but no. Joel's "Workhorse Mindset™" teaches you to out-fierce the fiercest creatures alive. Now I can do burpees next to an apex predator without flinching. Ever flex while locking eyes with a tiger? Let me tell you—it’s exhilarating.
Thanks to the workouts, my abs now resemble Brad Pitt’s in Troy, mixed with Thor's Love and Thunder glow-up. Shirtless? Always. Mirrors? Ubiquitous. Confidence? Through the roof. I’ve started conversations with more strangers in coffee shops than I can count. Who can resist six-pack abs paired with tiger whisperer energy? Not the ladies, that’s for sure.

I love the new Workhorse location! What a fantastic place to get and stay in great physical shape. I have been going to Workhorse for 3 years, whether for group or personal training. The trainers are very knowledgeable in current training methods used today as well as physiology. I had a lower back fusion last year from my L2 - S2, and after my physio protocol, Tiffany, being my personal trainer, was able to get me back to regular exercise. She strengthened my core and lower body while introducing exercise options that worked for me with my current health situation. The addition of an open gym is perfect for those who miss group classes or need some alone time to work out. I can't recommend this gym facility enough. Great job, Tiffany and Joel!

Workhorse is a great gym, but especially for teen athletes. I’ve seen huge improvements in my strength and endurance since I started training there. I attend classes coached by Tiffany. She is super encouraging and also makes sure my form is on point. She pushes me but keeps it fun.

The Strength and Conditioning and Hyrox classes are my favorite part of my day now. The workouts are methodically designed to build strength and endurance.

I do personal training with Tiffany and I started after a period where I wasn’t able to train like I normally do for a prolonged period and I was feeling really unathletic and just not like myself. I’ve been working with her since the middle of August and even with a 5 week work trip mixed-in, I’ve seen significant body recomposition and increased muscle mass/decrease fat…but most importantly, I feel like myself again. I’m much more athletic and agile, which in itself is motivating and builds on itself. Tiffany is an expert programmer and in such a short period, I’m not only back to to lifting my max, by I’ve well exceeded my maxes and I’m pumping out pull-ups and great form push-ups like I never did before.
Now to talk the gym- I’m not a CrossFit gym lover, so if you’re like me, don’t worry, this ain’t it. I’ve been to gyms around the world for work and the cleanliness and the open gym access is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I love coming here for not only my personal training sessions but for the workouts I do in-between them. It’s designed so it’s such an efficient use of your time.

Aside from the challenging (but effective) strength classes, Workhorse's community is top notch and the programming works. I personally have seen more progress in just the few weeks they’ve been open.
I thoroughly enjoy the 7:30 class with Nash - he’s always willing to modify if there’s a movement I cannot do due to low back + SI injuries I’ve had since before I was lifting.
Tiffany has also helped me continue my fitness journey through the injuries and pushes me to my limit. All the instructors teach proper form to avoid injury and truly want to see you at your best! Cannot wait to see the continued progress and growth with my favorite gym!

I can't recommend Nash’s class enough! From the moment I joined his class, I felt welcomed and motivated. His energy is infectious, and he genuinely care about each individual’s progress.
