I didnt realize that if they say there will be available child care for teacher workdays. This notice to SCHEDULE with the YMCA came out out 11 days prior to. Understand they will not warrant a refund because a written cancelation notice must be sent and it has to be 14 days prior to the date of service. Your locking yourself in and they dont care. This policy needs to be changed to a shorter than 14 day notice. Or just say you dont like giving refunds.

My brother recently tried to get a membership at this YMCA, and the treatment he received was unacceptable. What should’ve been a welcoming, helpful environment felt cold, dismissive, and borderline discriminatory.

When our mother called to ask questions, the staff didn’t even try to assist they told her to “just check the website,” like they couldn’t be bothered to do their job or answer basic questions. That level of customer service is embarrassing.

Then, when my brother asked to speak to a manager directly, the response he got was simply, “Nah, you can’t.” No explanation, no professionalism just flat-out denial. That is not how any member of leadership should behave.

This YMCA location clearly lacks proper training in customer service, communication, and community engagement. It’s not just about being rude it’s about making people feel like they don’t belong or aren’t worth your time. And that’s a serious problem.

The YMCA’s mission is supposed to be about inclusion, support, and building healthy communities. This branch is actively pushing people away. If this is how you treat people who are trying to better their lives, something needs to change fast.

Customer service is very poor , my son went in this afternoon around 4:00pm and saw three employees in the front doing absolutely nothing and asked one of the guys by the name of Darrel or Derrick, if he was the manager, and the Guy told him no, and my son asked him if he can tell him if the manager is there, and the guy told my son no . My son walked out ,mind you he just literally let a “membership walk out the door”.YMCA needs to re train your employees on how to give great customer service.

We just moved in to Cameron and I called the center requesting information about the different memberships. They mentioned Active Fit, which I currently have thanks to my job. I enrolled and went to the center to finish the paperwork (membership) with them. Mind you, I have 2 kids, so the main reason I chose YMCA is for the childcare... Well, they decided to inform me that Active Fit does not cover childare but it does cover for a spouse. Make that make sense! A spouse will use the facility, while the kids will be on a room waiting for me to finish. Now I need to pay for 2 memberships? Stupid and unreasonable.

I really wish I could choose 0 stars. When I called to cancel my account and file a complaint due to an incident in the children’s center, where my hysterically crying almost 2 year old was mocked by the worker, I was belittled and told to “calm down” by the “Executive Director” Michael. I was very calm and in control, I was not yelling or using profanity so his reaction was unwarranted. Was my voice firm? Yes. Was I yelling? No. I have already shared my experience with fellow mothers and warned them not to take their children here. There is no “check out” process and no verification that you are actually the child’s parent or guardian when you are picking up your child. Any random person could have walked out of that building with my child and that is NOT okay.

Right after signing and paying as a guest, I only got to use the bathroom only to get sick. Yes I read the policy. But I didn’t even get to actually use any of the equipment or fully enter the facility . Again, didn’t even make it past using the bathroom. They refused to give me my refund. That was the most expensive bathroom visit I’ve ever had.

They don’t offer youth sports like other Y branches. There’s really not much for kids unless you pay extra for their camp or preschool programs. The kid area is decent sized but a madhouse and germ fest of kids during peak times, I stopped taking my kids. The restroom smells like they’re just pouring cleaner around here to appear clean/fresh. Gym space is pretty small, around the machines it’s very tight together. Don’t forget to cancel/freeze your membership the day before the end of the month because even two days I’m they’ll charge upcoming month and the next. The male director is unfriendly and will not work with members with the flexibility of canceling. This man will also instantly change his tone and demeanor when you ask to cancel/freeze membership. Can’t give any information on classes, never attended. We used to go to the pool with the kids but stopped after our boys got pink eye, stopped the pool entirely after that.

Purchased a membership last year for swimming. Went swimming one time and ended up with RINGWORM within the week. So i called the ymca and told them i got ringworm and wanted to cancel my membership because i had no use for it anymore. I intended on never swimming there again. The lady i talked to seemed timid but said she would take care of it. Today i realized i should have confirmed that it had been cancelled.
Today my daughter an d her friend really wanted to swim and i had no other options but the ymca. So i went in with my 20 dollars for the guest fees figuring i would give it one more chance. They told me i owed them 79 dollars for the unpaid membership of last year. The director there didnt apologize for the fact i was never informed i had a membership going unpaid, and didnt seem like he was willing to work with me at all. In his opinion none of his staff would have let that happen. Why would i go with my daughter and her friend to a place i know i owe a bill to????
I ended up going to walmart and buying a small pool that my child is more than happy with and a slip and slide too for less than what the ymca said i owed. Absolutely unhappy with them. So unhappy that im doing my first ever review on anything, ever.

I absolutely love it here! The ladies in childcare are so sweet and I’m seriously so grateful for them!!! The kids care area is so big and clean with a wide open view of the whole area. The gym is always clean and the staff is always so friendly. I’m so happy they opened up up here!!!

The Gym/Wellness center is great, lots of equipment for working out, body building and more, a wide variety that covers weights, calesthenics, cardio, etc. The pool was a little small, however it works for a relaxing cool down swim or practice strokes, flip turns, and more, only real gripe is there are no block for diving, however that is understandable.

You have to dress how they want, if you don’t, you can't use the gym and their excuse is because there are children, I am not the parents of the children, everyone is free to dress as they want and I was only wearing a sports bra with leggings by the way because obviously I want to feel comfortable when exercising. looove this place. Instructors are super friendly, classes are amazing. Love the pool and Sauna in the winter. Only complaint I have is that daycare should be free the hour people using a class. Ymca wants you to sign up your child for a membership only to use daycare, even if they are to young to use the gym. Its advertised as free but underneath that it sais only if the child is on the membership.

Joined in mid-March 2020; gyms were closed down by ended of March 2020 due to COVID-19. Took a long time to reach someone due to building closed, no one answering phones and hard time getting response to email. Findlay received email response to print attached paper, complete, and return to place on hold; did this and received confirmation of hold. Had to also request refund because bank account was drafted in April 2020, although gym was closed. During original registration we were told we could donate monthly payment, but we didn't select that option on our initial paperwork. Due to COVID-19, we lost work/income. We had to make requests for refund for April. Went today, Nov 3, 2020 to inquire about rejoining. Was informed they had opened in July and account was removed from hold, so we owe money. We never received anything staying acct taken off hold it that gym was reopened and many gyms were still closed in July. Called a couple times, but still didn't reach a person. Staff is unable to change anything in account.

My son has a slight disability and has to use a walker. We are using the pool to help increase the use of his legs and for exercise. Everyone at the YMCA has been wonderful. We have had to use the chair lift to get him out of the pool, even though we try to use the steps. Everyone has gone out of their way to help my son and I. I can't wait for the gym to be able to open, because there is some equipment that I think would be great for my son's therapy.

I LOVE coming here. The classes are sooooo much fun! The staff are super friendly, attentive, and relational. They are really involved and commited in making this Y a community. I come in the AM to workout and sometimes I can come in the evening and just play pool with my son. It does get a little crowded at times but I'm believing that it's because the facility is still very new and the fad will die down a little down the road. And if not, hey, maybe they'll expand.

Pros:
This Y is great for helping the community and having something else here in the middle of nowhere. The pool is great my kids love it and I love for them to have somewhere to go and get energy out besides nasty play areas. Everyone is so friendly. I'm excited to hear more about the pre k.
Cons: There is still alot of upgrading I feel like they should do or maybe they will as it grows, like having some benches to sit on in the pool area while we are watching the kids swim or have swim lessons, maybe putting some foam mats down in the kid area and adding a few more things to do for the older ones. Finishing out the front so it looks more presentable. And find someone to do a body flow class would make this mama happy.
But over all I think this will be good for our family to enjoy and the community. And plus I love they brought that Steel Fortress coffee over here.
