This is a wonderful yoga studio and I highly recommend!

This past January, I wanted to try yoga classes. I’d taken maybe three yoga classes my whole life (the last being at least a decade before), didn’t particularly enjoy any sort of “group fitness” culture, and wasn’t particularly flexible or fit. I tried two studios in Durham before YOE - both of which were fine - but once I took my first class here, it stuck. The team is welcoming without being intrusive and it is truly an inclusive, zero judgment studio - people of all ages, sizes, races, genders and abilities are practicing alongside one another and taking what they need from the practice. The space itself is beautiful and peaceful and has such special touches: the herbal tea served in pottery, the comfy slippers by the door, the extra mats on the wall, the plants on the windowsill…it feels more like walking into a spa retreat than a fitness studio.

I’ve enjoyed each class and instructor I’ve tried (I encourage newcomers to seek out their own vibe!) but am personally partial to Olivia’s Tuesday Mellow Flow and Colleen’s Sunday Balanced Flow. Both are the epitome of calm and chill and manage to “get me out of my head” and into my body. Olivia’s class is more restful - it offers me slow and gentle movement, breath work and listening to my body. It feels as if regulating my nervous system - I leave feeling restored and supported. Colleen’s is more invigorating - the physical movement challenges and focuses and grounds me. I leave feeling stronger and more capable than I ever imagined. I’m also a big fan of Melissa’s “myofascial release” pop up classes…better than any massage I’ve ever had.

I’ve done a couple class packages and a month unlimited, but have settled into the “mini-membership” which is perfect for me. YOE has become a valuable and regular part of my self-care this year and I recommend to everyone!

My husband was receiving medical treatment from Duke, and Durham became our home for about 5 weeks. I love going to different studios when I travel, and Durham has a lot of options. My first studio visit was to Yoga off East, and I made it my yoga home while we were in the area. With a full schedule and a variety of classes, it was easy to take time for my practice. But what I loved best was the community that practices there. I felt included and welcome at all the classes, and that is what yoga is all about for me: the community. I miss this sweet studio that provided respite for me, and I can't wait to get back.

Yoga Off East is a Durham GEM. In particular, Tammy's class on Wed morning is a perfect mind / body reset. It truly gets me through the week. Highly recommend!

I love this studio! They offer classes of different levels, so I can challenge myself or give myself a break. Every teacher teaches in a different style, which took me awhile to get used to because I practiced with the same instructor for the past few years in my previous studio, but I came to embrace this diversity and appreciate it so much. Strongly recommended :)

I have been taking classes at Yoga Off East for several months while on a temporary work assignment in Durham. The staff at this studio are phenomenal, warm, friendly and welcoming...every single day. The studio is lovely and the teachers are very talented. As I make plans to return to Virginia in April, I am sad to lose my weekly connection to this sweet little yoga community in Durham. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Beautiful studio space with brand new and clean mats, towels, bolsters, and blocks for use. There are lockers for students to place their belongings during class, as well as complimentary loose leaf tea. I enjoyed taking Sheri's sunrise flow and talking with her after about yoga teacher training.

the new location is SO great. more inviting space, can be difficult to park when events are happening, but its an easy to access location. More serene and the people running around (or dancing?) on the floor above the 9th st location was always very distracting to me. They offer hot tea, water etc and its a very peaceful environment with huge industrial windows. they also have mats/blankets/blocks, etc to borrow if you do not bring your own. I typically attend Shauna's sunday class at 4:30 which is super slow flow/stretch/restore, so may not be the pace for everyone. Vanessa's class on Thursdays is also good and is a little more active while maintaining an almost meditative pace. Definitely recommend checking out the schedule and seeing which kinda class suits you.

The new studio space at ATC is amazing!! The last location was quaint and cute, but now they have a peaceful lobby with free hot tea, and a gorgeous studio room. The blue Buddha wall, exposed brick, and old wooden ceilings make the space so peaceful. Bonus for the 6pm class getting to experience sunset through the huge windows looking out on the ATC lawn.

I felt so welcomed from the start here. Since this was a new thing for me, I didn't know what to expect, but an instructor took the time to talk with me before my first class to give insight/answer questions, which was amazing. I look forward to returning and appreciate the quality environment here already!

Small but well appointed space. I have done class with 3 different teachers who were all A+ instructors. Parking can be a little tricky depending on the time of day so leave time to manage that situation.

All the instructors at this studio are wonderful and welcoming. The only downside id have to say about the studio is how small it is but I’ve gotten used to it and it doesn’t bother me because everyone that is always aware of their space and respectful. Kyle’s class on Thur afternoon is my favorite. He does a perfect blend of stretching and relaxing and then working up a sweat. I love that he usually finds a way to make us all laugh each class too, taking the stress of practice away. So happy I found this studio! I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area or visiting.

my favorite yoga studio that I’ve tried in Durham. The instructors are wonderful. I always feel 150% better after class, than when I came through the door. Yoga transcends in to several facets of my life. I notice my breathing more than ever, and the physiological benefits that come with controlling breath. It’s also tremendously helped with back pain. 🙂 Unfortunately, I’ve had to miss the past few weeks but hope to be back soon. I miss it!

Yoga Off East is the best studio in the Durham area, by far! The yoga is high quality and incorporates more than just physical poses. The teachers are knowledgeable and the atmosphere is welcoming and community-oriented. You can find trauma-informed teachers who celebrate and welcome individuals from all walks of life. You can find your yoga home here! I highly recommend this yoga studio!

New to the area and looking for a yoga studio, dropped by quickly after work to see the he studio and check traffic pattern. An attendant sitting in the front of studio was seated at the desk. The door was locked and she would not get out of her seat to discuss the questions I had. I couldn’t hear her through the glass and she just kept pointing to the door. Extremely rude and arrogant, guess I didn’t fit the yogi type for her, this place comes across pretentious and exclusive, will look elsewhere
