Julia has the sixth sense when it comes to body mechanics. I came to Julia with pain in my knee and hip after two separate full-rounds of traditional physical therapy failed me. She quickly assessed the imbalance in my stance and focused on strengthening the areas that would put me more in balance. Physical fitness has always been an important part of my life, so working out was not new to me. Frankly, I was amazed at how difficult these "simple" looking exercises were - a testament to how she was able to hone in on my weaknesses. Some of the work she assigned simply called for a heightened awareness of my body when standing and walking throughout the day. After completing 10 sessions with Julia I am working out again and walking long distances pain-free! She has given me a set of tools that I will use the rest of my life.

I signed up with Julia because I had several difficulties that I hoped she could help me with. And she really did! The balls of my feet were uncomfortable for walking, I had chronic insomnia, I couldn't sleep in a comfortable position, my back hurt for about 20 minutes every morning when I'd get out of bed, and my bladder was very weak. Julia helped me strengthen my core, learn how to breathe, and walk, and stand very differently. The breathing has been essential to calming anxiety and sleeping better. All those problems either resolved or improved. I am very grateful and would recommend her to just about anyone.

I asked for Julia’s help because I was having a lot of shoulder and neck pain. This had been going on for months. Between hot yoga, and lifting weights and doing the elliptical five days a week, I was not happy with this ongoing pain. Was I doing something wrong? I also was bored with lifting weights...I really needed some inspiration. That’s when I called Julia. Lo and behold, in my yoga practice, I was putting all my weight in my shoulders in many poses, and not using my core. In my standing position I locked my knees and pushed out my chest and stomach. I was not using my core to support me. What a difference Julia made! I’m almost done with 10 weeks of instruction, and I’m planning to keep going with Julia, because there is so much more to learn and she has challenged me like no other. She peels away the layers like an onion, and starts at the beginning to build upon simple but very important movements to strengthen the core. I no longer lock my knees, my body is in alignment, and I’m constantly aware of my core engaging. It’s so wonderful to see the progress (I have no more shoulder/neck pain, and I’m so much stronger in yoga). My weightlifting is more challenging. I’ve learned the core affects so many parts of our bodies...anyone who wants to address/eliminate those aches and pains, really needs to call Julia. She’s very knowledgeable, will meet you where you are in your abilities, and she’s a joy to work with!

I am a certified fat loss coach who thought she knew it all about women's wellness after 40... but Julia is teaching me more! I am loving her Active8U course. It is so fun, educational and motivating. I have increased my strength and balance, learned that I can heal my bunions and fallen arches and see amazing gains in my weight training workouts thanks to working with Julia. I am recommending working virtually or in person with Julia to all my clients and friends.

I started working with Julia Lamm after taking a free online week-long core training course with her. That course showed me the benefits that her coaching could bring. The workouts are planned for women 50 years+ and tailored to individual needs and abilities. Mingled with some live sessions, one works along with Julia watching a YouTube playlist of moves. The sessions are about 20 minutes- a half-hour long. Julia also hosted live and recorded Zoom meetings with other experts: a motivational speaker, a pelvic floor physical therapist, and a nutritionist that provided us with loads of helpful information about how to be our best and strongest selves. I happily recommend her courses.

I began working with Julia about 10 months ago. I am an overweight, out of shape, 57 year old woman and there is a lot that needs improvement. I had never worked with a personal trainer before and was not sure what to expect.

Our first session together she had me focus on my feet. My feet? I thought it was kind of strange, until she really started explaining how our feet are our foundation and that they affect our ankles, shins, knees, thighs, hips and so on. One of the things I love about Julia is that she is so knowledgeable about the human body, but she really goes out of her way to make me understand it as well. She not only focuses on how to do something and do it properly, but why to do it, and I really love that.

I have had numerous challenges and set-backs during our time together and I am always amazed at how she always finds a way to either modify what we are doing, or find something completely different that will work as a substitute to get me through the problem.
I have worked with her in person and now via Zoom sessions. Her patience and caring are unequaled. She really is an amazing person doing just what she was created to do.

As I said before, I did not know what to expect out of a personal trainer, but she has far exceeded anything I would have expected. If you have been thinking of trying out a personal trainer, I highly suggest that you give her a try. She works with all fitness levels. It will definitely change your life for the better.

Thanks so much Julia!

There is quality Personal work with Julia
as she works to listen, and design fitness sessions.I have worked with Julia in movement and alignment for over 5 years. I began seeking assistance in flexibility, movement and balance with aging changes. She progresses in training and teaching me skills for "self help" and work with my trouble areas. She observes and makes changes in my movement. Last year after a skiing accident, where I broke the right fibula and finished physical therapy I requested Julia's help to regained strength of my leg, hip, ankle and feet. I wanted to walk with a fluid motion and power again. Her personal plan and video training sessions helped strengthen my walk, feet and toe stability. She gives time to practice and checks back with the client to make modifications or reteaches. I really feel better after our sessions. I recommend her expertise for women or men especially as we age or sit at desks/driving for extended periods of time.

Based on a recommendation of a friend, to whom I am extremely grateful, I scheduled an appointment with Julia to see what kind of work she does and whether she could be a good resource. I was looking for someone who could help me relieve lower back and shoulder pain, increase flexibility and relieve stress.

Her thorough assessment of my situation and goals via a pre-meeting questionnaire and face-to-face questioning, combined with her personable style, put me at ease immediately. She guided me through some initial movements to gauge my capabilities and situation. For example, I quickly learned that how I have been bending forward for decades was actually straining my back. Within minutes Julia showed me how I could bend in a way that relieved the pressure/strain on my vertebrae and muscles.

I have worked with personal trainers and massage therapists in the past. They were all skilled in their own way and I got considerable benefit from them.

Julia has been a whole new level of support, however. In intense one-on-one sessions over the past several months, she has coached me on how the human body functions and how to retrain both my mind and muscles to move more correctly and efficiently. Everything has been tailored to my needs and, with Julia’s exacting and expert observation, her coaching has been targeted on improving my specific and unique ways of moving.

It has involved “homework” and learning to embrace (well, at least tolerate in my case) the “good pain” of stretching and strengthening. It has also given me ways I can relieve the back and shoulder pain, increase my flexibility and, in the process, manage life stress.

It does not require lots of equipment or space. I invested in a yoga mat, therapy balls, resistance bands and support blocks, and a little space on the floor in our living room or bedroom has been enough to practice what I am learning.

I give Julia the highest praise and recommendation for her expertise in functional movement, her exacting and challenging coaching, her genuine support and encouragement, and her personable, friendly manner. Bring her your aches and pains and/or your hopes for better posture or increased strength and I predict that you, like me, will consider every penny, bead of sweat and dose of “good pain” well worth it.

Thanks, Julia!

I have been participating in weekly strength training sessions with Julia for a few months now. I really enjoy these group sessions! I have never done strength training before, I’ve always been a runner, so it was a little intimidating at first. Julia is great at helping to make minor adjustments to my form for me to get the maximum benefit from the exercise. I like the variety that this class offers (we use kettlebell weights, bosu, boxes, medicine balls, TRX and more)! It’s a great positive group with no judgement, just encouragement. I am looking forward to many more Sunday sessions!

Each time I met with Julia she would add some additional exercise to aid me in my troubled areas. She made so aware of body mechanics and movements.
I have been active all my life. Early life I spent golfing ,skiing and later weights , aerobics and Pilates some yoga. I have sustained some injuries. Julia showed me how to move and corrected my alignment I plan to continue my sessions with Julia. She is a joy to work with.
I highly recommend her. Julia is awesome

As a woman in my early 60's taking care of my body has become a priority. I started going to Julia about a year ago and feel that the work she is doing with me is something I can't give up. The one-on-one treatment she provides which is tailored to my specific needs has been wonderful. I trust her completely because of her knowledge and training in her field. My joint health, posture, strength and circulation has improved from going to Julia. She really cares about you and you feel it when she is working with you. I just love what Julia does and am grateful I found her! Robin Brun
