It’s sad to see what has happened to this place over the last year. The only positive reviews of this place are from a year ago+ when Stefan was managing. There is rarely toilet paper and the bathrooms are never clean. The turf is usually covered in dirt and debris and there is not anything to wipe down the machines after using them. The heat is left on during hot days despite many emails to management. Key fabs often don’t work and no one is ever there to fix them.

The worst thing about this gym is that management just doesn’t seem to care. Complaints are ignored even after months and months of emails. It’s like they have just left it to rot.

Over the years this gym has become a disaster. Only consistent quality about the gym is that they cannot figure out how to keep the toilet paper stocked, rags washed, or gym clean. The toilets are disgusting, the drains are clogged with not hot water, and there’s never a manager or worker to ever be found. The higher management of the gym could care less what goes on there and will never respond. The gym temperature has always been an issue and still is. The heat is set to 72 no matter what time of the year it is. The door to access the gym breaks all the time or your fob will just stop working. Stay away from this gym.

Very sad what happened to this gym. When the manager Stefan ran the place it was fantastic. After he left in December of 2024 it went downhill so fast. I went through 3 personal trainers in 3 weeks (they kept quitting) and I had to call other gyms to find anyone to help me get set up with a new PT, eventually having to go to another gym to get my previously paid for sessions honored. Sounds like the owner is a real nightmare to work for and can’t keep staff. As I waited out my contract to end the gym was almost never staffed. Bathrooms dirty constantly. No hot water or water pressure in the bathroom sinks. Music always off. Heat left on even on hot days. Door broken multiple times, denying members access. I could go on and on. I made this post to warn others but honestly with no one working there I’m not sure how a new member could even sign up if they wanted.

Bloody horror scene from god knows what 💉goes on in this place since there is no on-site manager. Owner can’t seem keep staff around. Black mold on ceiling in the office they take you to get membership, should have been the first 🚩

No way to contact anyone. Tried to send email, it bounced. Tried to contact on social, they don’t accept messages from anyone. Membership canceled which took weeks to get ahold of anyone.

If you’re thinking about joining… think twice. This place is disturbing. These photos speak for themselves.

Nice gym but they have a lot of turnover in their staff. I pay for monthly personal training once a week however have not been able to use my sessions. The replacement general manager and personal trainer that replaced the old one have quit/let go. Now I have 8 PT sessions accumulated but no personal trainer to work with. I can't even get a call back to discuss this despite several attempts. I doubt I will get a refund for the unused sessions

The gym itself is nice and clean (at least when the older general manager was around). Lately, the towels are all in the dirty bin and not well maintained. Quality has stunk 👎🏾

I had the best experience at this gym. Their turf area was used by me on a consistent occasion along with their many choices of machine. It was never packed like some other gyms and everyone was very welcoming, including the staff who offered excellent training programs. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone who can make the time to use it consistently.

Joe and Kameron work hard to make you feel like a person who matters rather than a walking wallet building their business. I am thankful for the relationship building and personalization that are so evident in how this gym does business. I finally feel like I’m making progress in my goals and I am getting consistent customization - thank you guys for all you do! If you’re thinking of signing up, just do it already! The gym is always clean and almost always quiet and not overcrowded which is perfect for shy gym goers. Personal training is encouraging, nonjudgmental and allows for your individual input without compromising quality and overall progress. I emphatically recommend!

Onyx Avon Lake is an awesome gym! I’m so glad I joined a few months back. The facility is nice and always clean. Jason, the GM, is amazing as well. He’s very professional and knowledgeable in his training. He makes you feel very welcomed and is the first trainer I have had who’s advice makes sense! I highly recommend checking out this gym!

I cannot say enough about Jason and the Avon Lake location. Jason is so helpful, friendly and really looks out for each and every client. I enjoy the Tuesday and Thursday HIIT class that Jason put together. I have learned a lot regarding my form and expectations. The gym is very clean and a great place to work out.

I recently joined this gym and I love it! Always clean and lots of equipment available to use. I also signed up for 4 personal training sessions with Jason and it was DEFINITELY worth it! He was so knowledgeable and encouraging and it really helped me become more confident in the gym. The 4 sessions were also very affordable. I would 100% recommend him and Onyx!

Go there several times a week. I like the place. The TV situation is not very good. That is disappointing. I know they are trying to us free streaming. Very inconsistent. Should always have closed caption on because they have music on at a very high volume. People seem nice and I hope they increase their membership although it is nice to be able to do what you want there at almost any time. Solid 4 stars and could be better with a little more attention paid to visual and sound areas of the gym

I've been going to this gym for years. When ONYX purchased it in 2021 they upgraded the equipment. It's always clean. There is a wide variety of workout equipment. The trainer is very helpful and flexible with scheduling.

Joined this month and love the place! While the equipment is brand new and the facility is always clean, the best part is the staff. Jason has been extremely helpful in answering all of my questions and is very knowledgable on fitness. He is an OUTSTANDING trainer and truly cares about my individual goals.
