This is the worst Planet Fitness I have been to so far, and I have visited more than I can count in all different areas of the United States. First, I am shocked by the weird shape/size of the building being in the center of Westerville on polaris parkway nonetheless…it’s like they didn’t prepare AT ALL for the large population of people in this area. The crowding is not helped by the million unnecessary cardio machines they have compared to the very few lifting machines. The population where I live is much smaller than the city of Westerville and they have WAY more weight machines than they do here. This location is crammed with stupid machines that aren’t being used, making you feel overwhelmed as it is. People are vultures here, it’s literally insane. So little equipment that there’s lines of people staring you down waiting to jump you for your machine if you make a single movement. People jumping on the machines before you’re even able to wipe it down. No exaggeration, I have had people prop themselves up against my machine while I was on it as if marking their territory that they’re next, it’s insane. I never get a good workout in here because I’m being uncomfortably stared down and crowded around because there’s way too many people here and no machines to workout on. The area for the dumbbells is the saddest I’ve ever seen. You are shoulder to shoulder with people there , like you’re working out in a closet. So weird. The place is disgusting, piles of dust on every machine like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Most planets I have visited have employees constantly walking around cleaning, I have literally never seen that happen here and it’s apparent. I think this building is too small and oddly shaped to ever be a good planet fitness in this area, but could be improved if they got rid of half the cardio machines and put in more lifting machines and made more room for free weight lifting as well. The overall vibe here is absolutely terrible and it sucks considering I have a two minute drive here from work. I have been going out of my way to go to other locations because the convenience of this one isn’t even worth everything else you have to deal with here. After reading the comments, it looks like a lot of people feel the same way…hopefully someone with the authority to make changes will finally listen and do something about this.

I used to hit all the popular gyms, even Westside Barbell 30 years ago when Matt Dimel was there. I'm 53 now, and PF is played back, and tbh doesn't affect my ego at all. I focus on mobility now, and my youngest son goes with me. It's great bonding experience, and you don't have to be distracted by high aggression lifters. I used to be one, and now I'm just trying to live as healthy as I can, and PF is perfect for that.

DO NOT SIGN UP. Planet Fitness is a Scam

I am beyond frustrated with the terrible customer service and shady business practices at Planet Fitness.

I called to cancel my membership and was told I couldn’t do it over the phone. I had to either come in person or do it online. Since I couldn’t get there in person as I moved away from my club, I had no choice but to cancel online. The kicker? I called four days after the 1st of the month, only to find out they had just charged me the $50 annual fee on the first, a fee I will not use as I no longer wish to be a member. Given it is 4 days after the charge, I thought it was reasonable to ask for a refund.

I explained that I had no intention of continuing my membership and requested a refund for the annual fee I wasn’t going to use. They said they’d “talk to their manager”. I never heard back. I contacted corporate (as they told me to do), and corporate’s only response was to call the club directly for a refund. Full circle. Called again and was essentially told “that’s just how it is.”

So let me get this straight: I can’t cancel by phone, I can’t get a refund for a fee I didn’t know was coming, corporate won’t help, and the local club couldn’t care less. You’re charging me for a year I won’t use, after I cancelled, and you call this a “Judgement Free Zone”? The only thing getting judged here is how little Planet Fitness values its members once they try to leave.

Planet Fitness just took my money and ran. No accountability, no empathy, no help. Just a revolving door of “not my problem.”

This is theft with a smile. I’ll never recommend this gym to anyone.

It’s hard to take the claim that customer service is a priority seriously when a reasonable request like mine is completely ignored. Keeping someone’s annual fee because their cancellation came just four days after an arbitrary deadline, especially after I clearly stated my intention to cancel, is unfair and feels like withholding money unjustly.

This strict policy, with no room for understanding or flexibility, shows how little Planet Fitness values members once they want to leave. Simply telling me to reach out to the club again without offering any real solution isn’t customer service, it’s passing the buck.

I hope Planet Fitness will reconsider how it handles situations like this and start showing more accountability and respect for its members. This kind of approach doesn’t build trust or loyalty, and it's honestly disrespectful.

I find the location of this gym in the building itself amazing.

Way too much cardio equipment, not enough dumbbells and weight benches . I don’t think with a building this scale there should be 300 elliptical machines….. I shouldn’t have to wait in line for a squat rack or a bench or lifting equipment…

Update: I have reached out to them at the email address they've provided below, and ultimately they told me to try to ask the management at the gym to replace the 50 lbs bar bells... Unfortunately, still no 50 lbs bar bells 2 months later.

I’ve been to many gyms all around the US and I’ve never seen anything like this. I came here and bought day passes while on my travels. the gym was very dirty and unorganized. The first day i came, the front desk male employee; he was tall and had a buzz cut. He was very rude. i did NOT appreciate it. I’ve worked in gym, no employee should be left alone and unattended. On another accuracy. As i was working out and doing my business, i would see the blonde female front desk worker do everything by herself, that includes cleaning, filling bottles up and taking the trash out while leaving the front desk unattended when there should be someone there to watch. THAT is very unprofessional. I will not be coming here again

Nice gym, they keep it clean and it is one of the bigger facilities. It can be very busy in the evenings, and there can be a line for the squat racks at times, so I wish they had a few more of those. If you use a locker, invest in a good lock because I have had items stolen out of a locked locker.

This Planet Fitness is a suitable gym for most people who are looking to get in, or stay in, shape but suffers from the same issues that other PF locations face. Some machines, like the treadmill, are overrepresented while others, like the pec fly machine, are in short supply, often forcing people to wait until the machine of their choosing opens up. The stair climbing machines are prone to breaking down but are usually fixed within a few days. Some paper towel dispensers can go the better part of a day without being refilled, sometimes necessitating going to the opposite side of the gym to get paper towels to wipe down your equipment. The men’s locker room is for the most part clean but occasionally has trash/articles of clothing left on the floor.

VETERANS BEWARE!!

This location has friendly staff but members of this facility are hateful towards Veterans. I just watched a veteran get harassed outside in the parking lot over handicapped parking. People yelled at him for driving his Grandpa's handicapped car when in fact, the veteran had a disabled license plate with his veteran status. If you tolerate this kind of treatment towards the servicemen who gave their life away, you WILL lose business.

Went in to go tanning in stand up bed #9 it never even got hot I spoke with the associate & asked when the bulbs were last changed he said 7 months ago I said I think it is time he stated they only get changed once a year & it is because it gets used a lot I travel for work so I have been to multiple locations & this is not correct I felt like the associate just didn’t care not sure what is going on with this location but has had a lot of bad reviews lately my guess is poor management members pay a lot of money to use your locations there is other options but they choose you I believe corporate needs to check in on this location & make some changes or members are going to leave

Easily the grossest planet fitness I've ever been to which is wild. Been coming here for a month and I would rather drive out of my way to go to a different one now because of how gross the bathrooms always are and smell. This gym used to be clean and machines used to get fixed quickly. The past few months though it's become a super dirty gym. Trash in so many cup holders on treadmills, stair master, etc. you can tell the machines don't all get cleaned EOD. The locker room has had the same few pieces of trash floating around for over a week min. Soap dispensers get refilled once a week maybe.

I had a membership here for a while and enjoyed it. But one of the managers canceled my membership because someone else was using my account, unbeknownst to me. So I get punished, so to speak, for someone else’s actions. I will not be renewing my membership.
I wasn’t called about it, the only notification I received was an email notification me of cancellation and I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Asked to have the manager of the particular facility call me and he(Kevin), never called me back. I had called the gym I signed up at, and called the gym where this occurred, and spoke with an employee who told me what happened.

This place is the worst planet fitness in town and that’s a promise. If you are looking to get a workout that matches what you can do outside (walk up stairs, some steps, etc.) perfect place for you!! But if you are trying to build muscle of any sorts all the good machines are always taken + dumbbells + smith machine. Unless it is actually 2 in the morning. Furthermore, the boneheads that workout there are too archaic for a line and people just try to head-first dive into the first free machine they see even before it’s been wiped down.

Clean facility with friendly staff. I wish that they would get rid of some of the extra cardio machines or the 30-second circuit room that nobody uses and get more smith machines. The only way I can consistently snag one is to come at 4-5 AM and sometimes I like to sleep in. Maybe they are available during normal business hours, but that is when I am working. Today I came at 5 because that is when they open on Mondays, and I had to shorten my warmup to 5 minutes in order to snag the last one.

Terrible customer service. Extreme unethical and immoral business practices. Terrible gym atmosphere. I will be having my friends and family leave one star reviews for you as well bc they have been to planet fitness and experienced the same thing. They are the gym membership nightmare that makes you not want to sign up for a gym membership. I had an account I canceled ten years ago that was never officially closed by them leaving me with a 300 dollar balance. After my dad died I wanted to get back in the gym to help with my depression. They let me renew a membership but then stopped me from coming to the gym bc of the balance. Bc I'm in college full time I didn't have the money and tried to cancel my membership. Shortly after that I had a severe injury and was unwell for months. That whole time they charged my account. They will not work with me even a little and said sorry about your luck. I have been to other gyms before, way nicer than planet fitness and they would always work with anyone to get them back in the gym. Planet fitness is digging their own grave.

App doesn't work great. It took more than a week for my upgraded subscription to show up so I got hassles every morning when attempting to check in. Now they tell me my credit card needs updated because it's expired. I don't bring my credit card to the gym for obvious reasons and they don't let you charge monthly payment to credit card, they require a bank ACH. credit card is a backup. I asked if I could update my credit card online and they said no. Today I was told that I will be denied service the next time I come in without my credit card. I will be canceling my membership today. Surely there are options with less hassle.

The hours have changed. I signed up for the 24hr access. If I can't show up at 2 am, what's the point? I was told it's because of a lack of staff, which is confusing because of the location and time of year (summer). There are so many college students, PT, etc., that are available. It might be management just lack of treating employees correctly, resulting in a High turnover rate.

If you want to come to planet fitness but you’re only gonna be able to come for about 3 or so months, look immediately somewhere else.

I used to come to this planet fitness when I was home for school and it was great back then. But, I came here just for this 3 months and had the worst experience here.

First, the place is filthy. The floor looks upkept and dirty at all times. The bathroom/locker room is just clean enough. And the spray bottles to clean off equipment is either not filled at all or the paper towels are out most of the time.

Second, I was billed for; the sign up, the forts 2 months, and a yearly expense within 2 months. I spent over $100 on a membership I was only able to use for about 3 months. Planet fitness shows itself as a cheap alternative to bigger gyms for everyone, but costs just the same if not more than other gyms.

I used to come to planet fitness all the time, but I will never come back to these gyms again. It was a waste of time and money.

Since planet fitness has allowed teenagers age 14 to 20 to come free all summer machines and weights are too crowded. They really aren't lifting they're in groups on their phones and talking. It's getting harder and harder to work out. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now.

I usually don't forget my mask but I've done it a couple times and wverytime I ask they say they don't have masks to give. Then when I call layer they say they offer masks to members who forgot their mask for one time. Then when I go back after a couple weeks I forget my mask and they say the same thing. 1. They don’t allow alternative face masks especially when your going to be putting them on and taking them off between machines. 2. Half their own employees don’t wear face masks. 3.relatively difficult to cancel gym membership 4. You have to use an app to be able to work out. 5. They don’t provide face masks. 6. I can sign up online and they debit my account online but I cannot charge the gym membership to a card when I used to be able to at this location and I can only cancel in person or by sending a certified letter in person. 7. The only way I managed to cancel was put a hold on my bank account so they physically couldn’t charge me. 8. Very unethical business practices but good employees.

Very well ran and employees very kind and helpful. I'm 58 and been in many so called barbell gyms and they are very exclusive minded and rate you on how much you can bench! Planet fitness has clean machines and we'll maintained.

You need to wear a mask to scan your ID, but don’t need one when you walk around the gym… Doesn’t quite make sense to me. They also won’t provide a mask for you either.

tanning beds were clean. Wish they would change there bulbs. The Westerville location said it's been a year since their bulbs were changed😬 and I don't get ten at Polaris. it sucks having to drive 30 Xtra mins to south high location for a good tan😕
