Frustrating experience this weekend.

I don’t understand how the 24 Hour Fitness in Gladstone is the only location in the area that isn’t actually 24 hours. They don’t open until 8am on Saturday and Sunday, and today there was a large group of us standing outside at 8:15am with the doors still locked.

People were upset, several members gave up and left, and nobody was happy with the situation. For a gym that’s supposed to be convenient and reliable, this is really disappointing. Not impressed at all. I ended up leaving and doing a quick lift at the Clackamas location instead.

This is unfortunate because they do an amazing job keeping the gym super clean, and the staff has always been very friendly and welcoming — but the limited weekend hours and not opening on time really overshadow the positives due to the pure inconvenience.

Today (Sunday) the kid didn't show up to open the Gym. The cleaning guy had to come early to open it for all 30 of us who waited until 8:20am to get in. I noticed today the floor was the dirtiest I've ever seen it. Very disappointed today. You need to have the Gym cleaned every night. Also replace the kid who was supposed to open. He's been late before. Please do better

Gotta find a way to discourage some folks from sitting on a machine for 20 minutes, scrolling on their phones....they are NOT resting between reps, they are just on their phones. They need to know others are waiting and politely inquiring doesn't help.
Any suggestions?

Probably one of the nicer 24 hour fitness locations in the area. However I deduct one star because they aren’t open 24 hours which sometimes forces me to use the Clackamas location (which is a horribly upkept and overall poor location) and I wish they had a plate loaded incline press machine like all other locations do.

Been a member of 24 hr fitness for 15 plus years....but so annoying at gladstone they start announcing they're closing an hour before they close then every 15 minutes until they close...makes u feel unwelcome. I understand employees have a life and may be terrified they'll have to work a minute past closing cause somebody loses track of time, but shooing people out an hour before closing is a little ridiculous.

Extremely disappointed with how my membership renewal was handled. When I first joined, I paid for one year and was told I’d get the second year free. During my renewal, I was promised the same deal again — pay for one year, get the second year free — which was the only reason I decided to stay instead of switching gyms.

Almost a year later, I found out my membership is set to renew next month with no free second year. When I called to clarify, even the staff said it was “weird” and that the manager would reach out. The manager eventually did — only to say there’s nothing they can do.

That’s not how you treat loyal members. It feels like clear misrepresentation, and it’s unacceptable. On top of that, the gym has become overcrowded, dirty, and full of broken or missing equipment.

If this is how they handle their customers, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

This gym has decent front desk staff, I enjoy using the hot tub and I appreciate the large locker rooms.
That being said, it is always so crowded I can hardly ever use the machines I want due to there only being one of each (besides cardio machines) and there isn't staff walking around, or if they are they don't enforce any rules. Resulting in people doing some dangerous things. The hot tub isn't in the best shape, definitely needs cleaning and repairs. There also aren't any cleaning stations around with towels to wipe down and sanitizer equipment when you are done with it. I have to add that closing at 8pm on the weekends is crazy! Should be 10pm atleast. As someone who is trying to stay fit and healthy, but is low income this feels a bit demoralizing. I pay almost $40 a month and this gym can't even meet basic equipment, safety or cleanliness standards.

There is No Basketball Court. They Catered to only a certain race. This is also a location that only has Whites i may have seen 1 Asian, few Latinos, and me being black. No Basketball court is a hidden message. I know because I travel the country to work. Now the front desk Lady is friendly. But they are at most 24 hour Fitness. Since the Pandemic a Very Good gym has fell off a cliff. Portland needs More LifeTime gyms, they are the best in the Nation. People will pay more if you give them more. Just a hint to help.

This is definitely one of the cleaner 24 hour fitness gyms, and worth the drive from my house. The pool area overlooks the river which is very nice! And the facilities are in good shape. Sauna/steam are cleaner than most but tend to be a bit crowded for my taste.

I’m a platinum member which means I’m allowed to bring a guest every time. My wife tried to come in after me and was harassed (admittedly we should’ve come in at the same time) but what followed was highly inappropriate. Two workers interrogated my wife about why she was there. And when she let them know that her wife was a member and was currently at the pool, they followed her. They followed her to the pool then yelled throughout the area where everyone could hear that she needed a day pass and wasn’t allowed in the pool. Absolutely humiliating. Good gym overall. Staff seem to be overly passionate about the wrong things though. That’s not how you treat someone. I think a better solution would’ve been to calmly ask her to find her wife and to then ask me to show my membership or something. Do not follow her around, speak loudly, embarrass her, or force her to get a day pass. Again, we recognize we should've come in at the same time. But the dichotomy here is that they should have approached the situation better as well.

My experience has been machine availability as for the weight training machines can usually be taken, I can be patient and wait. But if the person is just sitting on their phone and they're just sitting there on the machine and not doing anything but fixing up their playlist or something? It can be frustrating, I can find another thing to work on while I wait.

Not the gyms fault.

The best things about this place are the organization and cleanliness (most of the time.)
The downsides include: not mentioning the random $60 yearly fee when signing up, absolutely NO reminders about payments being due, no grace period even when you're sick for a week and go in to cancel the same day you get charged, claiming that "the yearly fee isn't refundable" even though there was no payment reminder, yet they send you "challenge" reminders and options about classes... not practical for working people who want to try something on a promo deal, and lose over $60.

This location is one of the cleanest but let's be honest that's setting the bar pretty low considering the condition of other locations. My biggest complaint, just like most members here is the hours. Closing at 10pm weekdays and 8pm weekends is pretty ridiculous. For this reason I have to go to other locations where the conditions are horrid.

Review for 24 Hour Fitness - Gladstone

As a member for over 15 years, I can confidently say that I have never been unsatisfied with the 24 Hour Fitness in Gladstone.

The services and friendly hospitality are consistently excellent, making it a truly welcoming place to work out.

One of the things I appreciate most is the atmosphere.

The gym is not at all "ego-driven," which creates a pleasant and supportive environment for everyone.

Members are respectful and considerate, and I've noticed that people are great about wiping down machines after they've used them.

The cleanliness of the facility is exceptional. The swimming area is always pristine, providing a great swim every time.
The hot tub is also consistently clean and well-maintained.

The staff at this location deserves a special shout-out. The manager and the front desk workers are fantastic; their hard work and positive attitudes make every workout a great experience. Their dedication to a high standard of service is evident and is a huge part of why I've been a member for so long.
Thank you to the entire team for your commitment to excellence!

The place is dirty and over crowded. No one rear is their weight or uses clamps on the bars which is a major safety concern. There aren’t even enough clamps to go around. I brought this up to an employee and was told I just need to look harder. Waiting for my contract to expire.

Great gym, but few duplicate machines is annoying, I get the floor space but one leg extension and singular many other machines leave you waiting forever to do what you need. I understand a lot of people go here for treadmills but a few extra weights instead of some of the cardio equipment would be a very welcome change in my opinion.

I went to sign my son up for a membership and the rules are outrageous! Buddy pass only one person every 6 month??? Then the "no hidden fees" but now charge $60 extra a year for servicing? What am I paying $39. A month for... Anyways made a returning customer think twice and not come back. Its this kind of corporate crap that drive customers away. Oh, also 24 hour fitness doesn't mean 24 hour. They close at 8p on Fridays and weekends. Im still not sure what that $60 bucks does.... if the gym is closes it should be named like it is,12 hour fitness but we charge extra for that! Makes sense right!

The gym itself is pretty nice. The equipment is about as good as you could expect a chain gym to have.

6/18/2025 EDIT: Seems like we are back at having to wonder whether or not the gym will be open at their posted times. 2 days in a row now with no opener at 5 AM. NGL O'Malley's in Milwaukie is worth the extra 10 minutes to drive out to avoid this issue.

Be warned, if you plan to work out at opening time (5 am m-f, 6 am weekends) there will be times where the gym staff is not there and the gym won’t open. Most recent incident was this morning 6/10/23. Nothing like getting up early for your workout just to find that the openers couldn’t do the same. I’ve seen the recent comments where ownership’s responded by telling people to go to another 24, so it would not seem like they are going to do anything about this issue. And honestly I don’t place the blame on the hourly employees, the buck stops with management, and they don’t seem to be able to come up with solutions.

It is still better than working out at planet fitness, but if another gym opened in S metro I’d cancel my membership in a heartbeat.

I've been a member at this 24 Hour Fitness for a few months now, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. The atmosphere is welcoming whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned gym-goer.

What truly sets this location apart, though, is the customer service—especially from Miranda. From day one, she made me feel right at home. She's incredibly knowledgeable, always upbeat, and goes above and beyond to make sure members have everything they need. Whether it's answering questions, helping with membership options, or just greeting everyone with a genuine smile, Miranda’s professionalism and positivity make a huge difference.

Thanks to her and the overall environment, coming to the gym has become something I look forward to. Highly recommend this 24 Hour Fitness location!

This location has potential but consistently falls short. Staffing is minimal, which affects cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and overall member support. Several machines are outdated or out of order, and it doesn’t feel like upkeep is a priority. For a brand like 24 Hour Fitness, I expected more. With some investment into facility upgrades and better day-to-day management, this could be a much better gym.

This was a great gym for the first few years when it opened. We went almost everyday. My son got to go to the kids club and I got to do fun classes. I left after Covid caused them to close the kids club and mess with the hours. It was 24 hours when they first opened. I decided to go back and see what it was like five years later with a pass but it was not good. The place has gotten really dirty and what’s the point of being called 24 hour fitness if you’re going to kick me out at 8pm. Not great for single parents. I sadly wont be going back.

The staff is nice, but the gym is a mess. If you want to listen to other people sound like they're constipated this is the gym for you. There's almost always someone yelling or grunting loud enough to echo across the whole gym. My wife left a review a couple weeks ago. She got the automated response from the 24 hour fitness owner. She followed their directions and emailed them but has never heard anything back. Looks like their mode of operation is to make it look like they're fixing a problem but not actually do anything about it.

Where do I start? There isn't really a problem with the staff, well, except for the fact that they are downstairs and removed from all of my issues with this place. So, they don't enforce any rules posted on the walls. Do not get suckered into a membership here unless you want to: 1)Always listen to people dropping massive amounts of weight on the ground. Headphones won't even drown the noise out. 2)Listen to people on the punching bag throughout the whole gym. 3)Listen to people on their phone calls. 4)Be in the way of Instagram photo shoots. 5)See both men and women dressed like they're about to hit the pool, not the gym. Just imagine, butt sweat on every seat in the house! I can honestly say that I am not as healthy or active as I would be at a decent gym because my husband and I dislike this place so much. My daughter won't even join me anymore. We can't wait for May when our contract is up.

I paid $335 for a year long membership back in March 2024. I was turned away this morning because I haven't paid my "annual fee" that never went through at the start of membership. Why is it that there is not simply one gym membership fee? I fail to see how it's good etiquette to turn me away from working out having already paid $335. If this fee was supposed to go through at the beginning of the membership, why wasn't I reprimanded 6-8 weeks after signing up instead of.. 10 months later ? That is a you guys problem, not a me problem. I should have been allowed to workout today because you guys failed to reprimand this "annual fee" of $49.99 in March or April or May, at the beginning of the membership. I can pay the fee, just not right this second.

Member of 24 hour fitnesss for 20+ years. Staff is pretty friendly, however, I couldn't agree more with some of the other reviews i'm seeing mentioning how dirty the facility is. The bathrooms are disgusting and nothing is regularly cleaned. Floor is filthy. Piss constantly all over the floor by urinals. I took a shower there last week and the first thing I noticed was all the mold and grime all over and inside soap dispensers. The sauna room is equally as gross, seemingly never rinsed/cleaned in any fashion and the smell is off putting. Even the lockers are filthy. I choose to change and shower at home now due to all this. I'm glad others are speaking up. Other locations are way cleaner by a long shot.

Good gym, with good equipment, though age is starting to show with some of it. The staff is great, not really a serious job, so I wouldn’t expect them to work too hard. I’m leaving the 2 stars for three reasons though. First, why are you guys open 5am-10pm weekdays, and ONLY open 8am-8pm on weekends. Should call the gym 12 hour fitness. It’s a rhetorical question, I don’t want to hear it’s because its to “fit current club usage patterns.” I want to see the gym open 24/7. I understand that would mean finding a few more employees, but it just seems lazy to not be open 24/7, and the usage pattern of the gym is that people are there up until closing time every single day, and the only reason there are less people when you start pushing the last 30 minutes is because they know the gym closes at 10. You announce over the loud speaker, of course they leave, because they don’t want to be trespassing. Second reason, the gym is dirty, and never has paper towels. There are only 2 paper towel dispensers for the entire weight section of the gym. They are always empty, and would have to be refilled probably once an hour to have a consistent supply. This means non of the equipment, benches, or seats ever get wiped down, and there is no gym etiquette. Not only that, but the dispensers are manual, not sensing. It would cost the gym maybe a couple hundred dollars to put a few new hand sensing paper towel dispensers around the gym. Don’t even replace the current ones, just add more. Third, the automated responses on reviews shows me that they are not listening to their community. I really hope I don’t hear back “sounds like we got some room for improvement,” but I suspect I will.

Nice enough gym, far too much space given to cardio machines, and not enough free weight equipment, not enough plates, people allowed to wear slip on sandals and crocs in free weight area,( not safe), no gym etiquette taught to new members or enforced by staff. Management can’t do anything to correct issues because corporate is too busy worrying about hurting feelings than running a professional gym. I get surveys about every three months for last two plus years. Nothing ever changes…..Sadly no well equipped gyms in vicinity.

This gym is busy enough to be open 24 HRs or at least until midnight. Lots of people in the area have later schedules and for the price of 24 hrs we get barely 12 on the weekend? C’mon guys. Y’all can do better than that!!

I don’t like leaving harsh reviews but this place has left me no choice. I’m hoping they see this and things change. Here goes nothing:

The spray bottles can be empty when you’re looking to wipe down the equipment, same with the paper towels. We’re talking like 50%-60% of the time they’re empty. Finding clamps is impossible, for such a big company you would think clamps would be littered everywhere. If you have your own I suggest you bring them. The outside trash cans are ALWAYS full. The faucets in the men’s locker room are starting to leak, the hand dryer has been broken for at least 1 month now.

On top of it all their customer service SUCKS. The counter crew is always busy on their personal phone or talking to other team members/customers about non related gym things, all while Ignoring the people that are coming in to workout. I’ve had countless experiences where I walk in and there’s no acknowledgment or good bye when I leave. If you’re a pretty girl working the counter, FORGET ABOUT IT, 10 out of 10 times the manager/supervisor are distracting them from taking care of the customers. I’ve over heard, in passing, conversations that don’t involve work. That same scenario includes a no greeting when I punch in or good bye when leaving.

This place is clean enough, better than it use to be. Props to the cleaning crew!! I’ve been a member at this gym since 2019, before that I would go on/off because I didn’t live here. I’ve been a 24 hour member since, I believe, 2006. Management matters and this time around it isn’t so hot. My main reason for staying here is for the convenience of the location.

started working out here in January 2024 from day one I have been warmly greeted by all the staff and treated like family, they are encouraging to one another to achieve goals as a teem , this gym is teem orientated, they all work together ❤️ nicely providing excellent customer service, clean environment And comfort being true to ourselves As individuals in our own routine and different style trying to grow they are upbuilding with positive reinforcements validation support of results. I go many times each week. Friendly staff. I've seen how members just leave paper towels, drink cups, etc when they leave a machine so you would think it would be a terrible dump. It's not though - so staff must be working hard to keep it clean. We used to go to a Portland gym but stopped going because of how dirty it was. Something else I love about the Gladstone 24 Hrs is that they decorate for holidays. Makes it less terrible to be headed into the gym to work out when it's so cheerful and festive.

To many people sit on the work out equipment and text. They don't realize or care if someone is waiting to use it. Also, to many teeny boppers in the gym coming in groups and trying up the work out equipment for long periods of time. This is so frustrating I only work out once a week in stead of 3 times a week.

Not open 24 hours, kind of a joke. Like they close at 8 on the weekends. And 10 pm all other days. Plus they never reopened childcare section, despite raising everyone’s membership prices (mine went up $4 last month due to inflation). No spinning classes for over two years. Still blaming all of these deficiencies on Covid. Pretty weak.

The place is gross! Every machine is dirty. It’s clear they have no idea what “deep clean” means. Every crevice of a machine needs to be scrubbed at least once every 6 months. The mens showers smell! Try using some bleach and scrubbing the walls a bit too. Otherwise great selection of machines and devices. The view is awesome. There’s a hawks nest in the big tree

UPDATE: 6/26/23 still dirty and gross. hasn’t been a deep clean here since the gym opened i’m pretty sure. wifi here used to be awesome! now it’s total garbage! can’t load anything.

Generally I like the 24 Hour Fitness in Gladstone Oregon. Yes it needs more attention to cleaning but the staff, when they show up to open the gym are friendly. My issue is this location seems to have trouble getting staff to show up to open the gym. It’s really frustrating to get up and show up at 5 AM and not have anyone show up to open the gym. And this occurs often. I have experience at least once a month. It’s frustrating to have a gym named 24 Hour Fitness that is NOT open 24 hours but it’s unforgiving to then also not have a staffing plan that insures the gym will be open during regular posted hours. I’ve called management and based on their response, my conclusion is this gym has a disengage owner and a club manager who is not qualified to run the gym.

Facility and staff are nice. But it is very crowded no matter what day or time you go. Mostly due to them STILL not being open 24hrs. It went from being “covids” fault to now they can’t find staff. Funny how every other 24hr fitness and 24hr gym within 15min hasn’t had that problem for over a year…

Edit: this is about the 5th time they have failed to open in the morning due to someone just not showing up…which would also not be a problem if they were 24 hours like they should be…find new management

I decided to pay the entire year upfront. It averaged out to about $25 a month. As someone who’s experienced many gyms, I have to say this one gets everything done. Has plenty of free weights, machines for new lifters, and plenty of cardio options. The pool is a little small, but gets the job done for those trying to get some laps in for exercise. The steam room and sauna are always very well-kept, and the locker rooms are always clean. If you’re looking for some fancy spa/Richie Rich establishment. This isn’t for your bougie self. Lol but if you were a lifter who actually lifts to get better, get healthier, and just enjoy working out this place is perfect.

Between Clackamas, and mall 205, I think this is the nicer 24 hour fitness. The water is a bit warmer, the people are friendly, and the rowers are almost always in good condition. It's more crowded, than say mall 205.

If I could give a zero rating, I would. Went online to set up a free 3 day pass and got the confirmation. When I got to this location, I waited 20+ minutes for the manager to offer to charge me $20 for a “free” pass. So, free 3-day pass means $20 2 day pass. His reasoning for this is because I had a military and Washington ID. So, keep that in mind when visiting the Gladstone location.

All kinds of busted equipment. Hot tub this week, machines every week, and the people here act like 3 weeks is an acceptable time frame to fix something as simple as a clock. All the 24hrs are like this, and Oregon City is among the better ones in the greater Portland area. Still turning into a dump. Will not be renewing membership. Would highly encourage anyone to consider the value to yourself of a membership sans anything in the pool area or half the machines.

Horrible. I started my subscription to the gym about a month ago, me, my dad, and my brother all were there and none of us remember being prompted about an annual. It was a $50 charge that they try to sneak into the contract. I talked to multiple people, the manager, sales associate, no one offered any means of making it better. Very much dissatisfied and have cancelled my subscription. My money is better elsewhere at another gym. DON'T BOTHER coming here.

Gym is unclean, especially in men's restroom/locker room area and the upstairs yoga style community shared mats for stretching/exercise. Staff is nice, but inconsistent in monitoring who is coming and going. This location is still not open 24 hours, which explains why it appears overcrowded. Consistently see members have poor gym etiquette in 3 areas: 1. Being on their smartphone in between sets for extended periods of time, monopolizing the equipment. 2. Put their belongings on a piece of equipment (to hold/reserve) and walk away to use another piece of equipment. 3. Not cleaning off machines or equipment after use. Will not be renewing my membership.

This location is by a long shot better than the Clackamas and McLoughlin locations. It’s ALOT MORE CLEAN and people actually seem to respect the equipment. Last time I went though, it looked like housekeeping should come in more to clean because those showers, tiles, and pool room are starting to look rough. It is really bothersome though that it’s 24 HOUR fitness but isn’t open 24 hours. That leaves me to go to the other locations that are gross. I don’t like to complain especially enough to write a review but honestly feel like I’m getting kind of getting scammed of my experience.

Good facility overall. But, the company cannot be trusted.
- they sold everyone towel service - then they took it away
- they sold everyone 24 hour access - then they took away 4 of those hours

What will they take next? Whatever it is, your rates will not go down as a result.

[edit] Removing another star. They seem unwilling to open back up at all now. When/if they finally do, they're limiting hours, and giving away free passes, effectively doubling the number of people trying to workout (in a shorter time). I'm not sure how packing more people into the gym is supposed to be safer.

8/2022 update -- well, they're back open post-covid at least. Hours are still not what they should be. Tigard and Clackamas are both open 24 hours. Not sure what Gladstone is waiting for.
Classes are still severely limited.
