Baxter Fitness is more than a fitness club. We offer orthopedically sound, medically based exercise specifically for people who are fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty...even ninety years old! Our program is for people who wish to become or remain fit, active and healthy. We address the arthritic, metabolic, neurological, and cardiovascular limitations associated with the aging process...and combat them! Our medically based program was originally designed in 1997 to work with knee and hip surgery patients. Baxter Fitness has grown to become a trusted, comprehensive, and effective fitness building program for people over 50, with endorsements from physical therapists, orthopedists, and cardiologist to name a few.

My wife and I have been attending Baxter Fitness for over two years and have found it a fantastic place. Great & welcoming place to exercise at your own speed! Friendly, courteous people, and staff. Great music to exercise to! Variety of machine and equipment to choose from. Damon the owner and trainer is very knowledgeable! Great place for 50 and over! Love it, awesome place for exercise and fun, socialization. You can get healthy in the process. Baxter Fitness is wonderful! The positive staff, led by the charismatic and experienced owner, Damon, create an atmosphere that isnt typical of a gym.
He and his trainers spend time making sure you know what to do.

Baxter Fitness Medford is a positive and friendly gym for those of us over 50. Damon and Jill are experienced trainers for those just trying to keep in shape and for those who have medical issues. Hereβs the deal with the old people gym.
Iβm on a recovery mission from autoimmune disease and just need a quick doable routine for genuine health. This is the gym I longed for in my 20βs without the image nonsense, but didnβt know it.
No pressure at all to join, as much guidance as you want. And pretty no frills place.
What you are getting is people so dedicated, that they now work there instead of being members themselves.
Machines are designed to improve physical and cognitive abilities. Treadmills yes, but so much more variety for bodies who need to work back up to speed gently.
An elderly man was there with a cane and I told my chronically pained body I can do this.
There is a small but efficient free weight area, machines designed to gently build your body strength from the ground up and areas with stretching equipment and chair fitness classes & yoga. The organization was started in Ashland and there is a new location in Medford (where I will join after my free 1st week.) they are separately owned so you need to pick one or the other. No pool.
Itβs clean, friendly and gets the job done. For my needs itβs just right. You must be 50 or older so thereβs that. :) not for everyone but perhaps ideal for you.
UPDATE to add- that guidance is even better than I thought. Today I learned the person so patiently attending my apprehension is an exercise physiologist. I didnβt think a movement was possible for me to do. Iβm doing modified squats now which sounds like nothing to some- but pretty incredible for me at this stage of my recovery.

Most importantly, I joined Baxter because I was experiencing increasing back and other pains that were preventing me from going about my daily life. Almost immediately after starting the routine Damon gave me, the pains went away and have not returned as long as I use the gym regularly. It also helps that it is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at this gym. I really appreciate this gym!

I really enjoy Baxter's Fitness, Medford. They just moved to this new location, but I have been attending for over 13 years now!! It's a fun place to make new friends and enjoy exercising together. Geared to those 50 years and beyond, but those with physical limitations are also welcome.

For someone who hasn't exercised in years That's me, and I'm totally out of shape. For me to be able to go down. And get low impact exercises start with Lo and back exercises. Low impact exercises Is the perfect place to go if you have an exercise in years If you haven't exercised in years.
