Crystal was incredible. Today I injured myself on a box jump. Crystal was right there. Calm. Professional. She got me ice. Analyzed my pupils. I always return the towels. It’s reasonable and easy. However, this Courthouse has recently accused me of not returning the towel and wanted to charge me $8 extra. This is UNacceptable. Can they double check before they send me the letter?

I decide to write this hope that our Courthouse team will improve customer services and towel checking process. Why would we go to the place where the system can make us pay more for what we are not responsible or , all the sudden, become a towel thieves?

I visited the West Salem location to inquire about a tour and potentially sign up for a membership. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I stood at the front desk for ten minutes without being acknowledged, as the two employees present appeared occupied with making drinks. I was surprised to see baristas in what I thought was solely a health-focused gym.

When one of the employees finally became available, I was informed that no one could assist me as they were preparing to attend a meeting. I was advised to return on another day. This interaction left me feeling unwelcome and disheartened. The lack of attention and customer service was so striking that I’ve decided not to return.

As a stay at home mom, West Courthouse with their kids court has become a home away from home for me! Suzy always takes incredible care of my little kids. I LOVE being able to get my “me time” as a mom & get stronger & healthier! I do group training & have been meeting (and exceeding) my health goals thanks to the encouragement, help, and expertise of trainers like Jack. The addition of the coffee bar has been an utter delight! Even if I don’t get a drink, it always makes my day better to chat with the baristas, Charlotte & Megan.

My kids also do swim lessons & Jiu Jitsu with courthouse & we’ve had a wonderful experience with both. Overall, I cannot recommend courthouse more!

The West Salem Courthouse fitness club has become my second home. With its friendly staff and clean environment makes me want to go there to get my workout in every day. Their workout classes are made to rise to the level of the very fit as well accommodate those that are just starting their new journey. Choose to make friends from the classes or workout independently yourself, have it your way. The West club is my home club, but I enjoy all the other clubs throughout town as they each have their individual attributes that make them fun to work out at. Can’t wait for the outdoor pools to open as they have something for kids, lap, swimming, or just laying around soaking up the sunshine on the deck.

😠during the pandemic I called to cancel since they were closed. I wasn't going to keep paying $60 a month for nothing. After many emails and berating calls they eventually agreed to cancel my membership. Very unprofessional and almost infantile behavior. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I’m disappointed by the lack of flexibility and understanding regarding my gym membership cancellation. Although I was just four days late in submitting the 30-day notice, I was informed that I could not cancel my membership. I understand policies are in place, but given my situation—moving out of town and unable to use the facilities—I was hoping for more consideration. It would have been appreciated if the team could have made an exception. Unfortunately, this experience has left me frustrated, and I hope the gym can reconsider its approach to customer service in these kinds of situations.

This gym is way more expensive than it used to be, and more expensive than it's worth. They even started charging money for clean towels as they just put a new machine in there to siphon more money from their members. I look forward to not having to spend money here anymore.

My friend and I were walking into the gym, she scanned in and mine was having some trouble scanning in after a couple attempts it finally scanned through (clearly it’s an issue with their scanning system) we were half way up through the stairs going to cardio when one of the ladies with red/copper-ish hair that works there rudely, starts shouting at us saying we needed to pay for a guest pass and to come back down up to the front. Shouting across from the hallway while there were people there as confused as we were, after she shouted we told her No. we do not need to pay for any guest pass because we both have an active membership that successfully scanned for which we both were able to get through those doors. Once we walked up to the front desk, and again, explained we had our own membership she then took the time to look through the scans and just said “oh I just seen that” no apology or anything. VERY unprofessional and unethical behavior. And if for any reason there was any issue with my friends or my membership you’d expect for the worker to at least come up to you as a respectful human being to discuss the situation. Very disappointing.

My Son and I were members for years until we started to feel like a number here. The prices have significantly increased often while the equipment continues to age! They stopped offering family memberships which is disappointing and is the main reason we discontinued our memberships. I was planning on adding my other child but that’s no longer an option as I refuse to pay over $200/mo..Took 2 months to cancel since their cancellation process changed and we got several different answers on how to cancel by employees who clearly were not trained properly. If you want to charge premium prices, then your equipment and atmosphere needs to match that. I am happy to drive over the bridge for a great gym at a great price for my family! No comparison. If they continue down this road, this gym will eventually close. After reading the responses to other low star reviews, it is clear that the customer is not their priority. Also, several of the reviews mention the very broken cancellation policy that is not uniform and customers were continually being charged after they cancelled. Class action possibly in their future with all the similar complaints about not canceling when requested! The staying open during COVID showed the greed! Several positive reviews don’t seem authentic or genuine!

I’ve been a member at this gym for over 20 months, and have created some wonderful friendships that I’ll miss dearly, unfortunately, my experience for a gym has been far from ideal. Here’s why:

Outdated Equipment: For the rates they charge, you’d expect modern, well-maintained machines. Instead, the equipment looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades. The other courthouses, outside of West Salem have some decent stuff but West Salem apparently focuses on other things .. idk what since the stair step machines are constantly out of order, which is frustrating if you’re there for cardio and the sauna is broken half the time.

Unprofessional Staff: The staff at the front desk are not friendly and seem completely incapable of handling even the simplest of issues. If you want a problem resolved, good luck finding anyone in charge of items outside of making you a coffee, they’re rarely, if ever, available.

Contradictory Coffee Bar: Recently, the gym added a coffee bar. While that might sound nice, it offers unhealthy options—completely out of line with what you’d expect from a fitness facility. Sure, you can make it healthy but think about those people who don’t know or understand when they’re not making a healthy choice, and if you ask the kids behind the front counter for advice on what’s healthy- you won’t get an answer and your left with people drinking unhealthy drinks and thinking they’re on a path of success. Oh, and I’m guessing this unnecessary addition is part of why my bill increased by nearly $15 in under two years.

Poor Customer Service: I emailed on 1/3 to ask why my monthly rate went up again, and it took almost 20 days to get a response. That’s unacceptable for any business, especially one charging premium prices.

Bottom line: If you’re just looking for a social spot to hang out and someone else is footing the bill, this might work for you. But if you’re serious about lifting or maintaining cardio and expect modern amenities, and want to pay normal gym payments, go elsewhere.
I have had some wonderful times with my girlfriends taking the active classes or high fit classes and I’m sorely going to miss that and the relationships but I can’t keep paying for something when I truly go for the equipment in the lifting room.

My daughter had a wonderful swim camp experience this summer. Kate the swim director kept a watch out for any kids who needed some extra encouragement. Celebrated all the kids little wins. And loved the instructors kindness if my daughter was ever nervous trying something new.
Also occasionally got free smoothie samples from the coffeebar!

This is our second week of the summer swim camps, and our three children have continued to gain so much confidence and ability. We paid for the last four years of lessons at the Salem Kroc center and my children were still not water safe and slightly afraid of the water. The courthouse program is wonderful, instructors are very good with the kids and the director is very good at directing and encouraging the kids. We will definitely be spending our summers in the foreseeable future at the West Salem Courthouse pool.

Would give this place a minus 20 stars if I could - signed up my little guy for the swim team - under 8 years old - I informed the director or whoever “Kate” that my son had to wear earplugs due to an auditory condition she brushed it off said the coach for his group had it under control , I told his coach she said ok and didn’t alter her approach , he was totally lost at the jelly bean practice meet thanks to the coaches not treating him like someone with an auditory condition- they have the 8 and unders swimming in the shade of a non heated outdoor pool-
To the actual club - the men’s changing room is not kids friendly a bunch of seniors with their privates out within in arms reach - creepy very creepy - and the “smart” gates that let someone inside and outside the workout areas is a busted system -
I’d avoid this club especially since they can’t take care of a little guy with a disability

The staff are great. The facility is kept clean and ready for us to use. The weight equipment is great. The machines are modern and I enjoy getting back into lifting weights with these. They have lots of free weights and equipment to use with them.
They have lots of cardio exercise equipment. I use the treadmill when I cannot walk to the facility due to weather. I tried the elliptical for my first time and these are great.
The pools are great. Our interest is for the water-aerobic classes. Speaking of classes, they offer several classes for beginners, "older people" (me), and advanced people.

I’ve been going to this gym for a long time. I use the pool and it’s amazing. The staff are of course, really nice. They help you and welcome you right when you walk in. The outdoor pool is open in the summer and they have a big slide. They used to have this little grey one but I’m not sure where that went. Overall I think this is an amazing gym.

. I am writing on behalf of my granddaughter to express our deep concern and frustration about incidents at Salem Courthouse Fitness South Salem. My granddaughter, a valued member of your gym, holds a membership that should grant her access to its facilities.

It has come to myattention that my granddaughter is consistently singled out for questioning about her membership and her companions when she visits the gym. This treatment seems to be unique to her and happens regardless of her accompanying friends or family members. I wish to emphasize that my granddaughter holds her own membership, and her membership card should serve as sufficient proof of her right to access the facilities.

What is especially troubling is that these encounters appear more frequent for my granddaughter, who is the only black individual among predominantly white gym members. We have observed that she is often questioned, whereas other gym members do not face similar inquiries when they bring their children along. This pattern of treatment raises concerns about possible racial bias and unequal treatment, which is both disheartening and deeply concerning.

One troubling incident occurred recently when my granddaughter was questioned about her attire while wearing her swimsuit to access the pool area. She was told she needed additional clothing over her swimsuit. This demand puzzled us, particularly given the short distance between the lobby and the pool. We were further confused when we noticed other children walking by in their swimsuits without staff intervention.

As a concerned grandmother, I find these inconsistencies in policy enforcement alarming and unjust. Gym policies should be applied fairly to all members, irrespective of their characteristics or attributes. I struggle to understand why my granddaughter seems singled out, while others are not subjected to the same scrutiny.

I urge you to promptly address this issue and review your policies to ensure fairness and respect for all members. Every child, regardless of their background, should feel welcomed and treated equally in Salem Courthouse Fitness South Salem. We hope to see positive changes that foster inclusivity at your gym.

I was a long time member of Courthouse on Lancaster, and when I decided it was time to join again, it was my first choice. The West location had the soonest available sign up, so I went there this morning for a scheduled 11:30 appointment. From the time I entered the door, I received the poorest customer service. The three people behind the counter said, “I can’t help you, I can’t help you, and I would, but I’m busy.” The trainer at the counter actually said, “ your appointments not even till noon, and the trainer you’re scheduled with is eating lunch, so go wait over there.” Although hesitant, I signed up as I really like the other locations. When completed, I offered some feedback regarding customer service for new clients, and all of them thought it very funny and laughed. The trainer, Jeremiah, wanted to argue and make excuses. Even after I said please process my card so I can leave. They continued to laugh about it as my daughter and I left the building. I am completely shocked and appalled. I will never refer any friends or family to the West location. This was truly an incredibly disrespectful and disappointing experience.

Courthouse Fitness decided to change their offerings of classes. Their schedule showed the last day for water aerobics at any of their locations in Salem/Keizer would be Friday, Jan. 13th, 2023. They gave members NO notice of the upcoming change. I discovered it because as a person with a disability, I was in the middle of writing an accommodation for work to utilize the classes three times a week. I had contacted to verify the changes I saw in the schedule. I pay for my membership just like other members. I have no use for the other facilities. The employee only confirmed what I saw on their website, that in fact those classes would no longer be offered. At no time did the employee inform me they were simply rebranding/renaming their classes! The management contacted me by email and let me know they were continuing classes. Yet, even he failed to give enough details in the beginning to know those classes on the schedule had anything to do with water aerobics because even as of today's edit, Jan 17 2023, no descriptions are posted and the name of the classes are vague. I understand they were going for Age - 2- O but it reads Age20! A mere hyphen would have gone along way in preventing so much miscommunication!

As I stated in my original post, I did contact your company. I had a lengthy chat via your website with an employee. So, I did verify the information before posting. I verified it before canceling my membership and securing membership elsewhere to meet my needs. It is up to management to ensure their website is up to date, that their employees give out accurate information. As of Jan 9th, 2023, your schedule for all locations in Salem-Keizer still shows zero water aerobic class beyond Jan. 13th, 2023. Perhaps your information is wrong?

Do not listen to anything these guys say it’s all b.s. They tell you for their premium members that you get 2 free guests every time you come in, but don’t tell you that the guests are only able to come in 5 days out of the whole year. The head trainer did not inform me of the extra charges that would incur when terminating the membership, and DID NOT CANCEL the membership when I asked. This location doesn't enforce CDC guidelines regarding masks. I have friends and family with health conditions that make covid an extremely serious virus. Staff told me several times I can only close my membership in person. Had to find out from someone at Battle Creek that they were misleading me.

December: I go on Courthouse App to close my membership. It says it went through. I find out in February that they “are not finding a request.”

Took me from October - March (hopefully) to get my membership closed.

Do NOT get sucked in to it. They will take advantage of every possibility to keep you in contract.

This is the worst gym when it come to Communication. They will raise your rates for no reason they do not let you cancel your membership unless you would like to pay a $200 cancellation fee. They then send in other fees and charges without notification. Anytime I talk to anybody it seems like they have to always find somebody else to answer the question. I signed up to what I thought was a One year minimum membership because I just moved here and when I left my apartment after 12 months I realized I was still paying for the gym and was confused and they told me then it was 18 months not 12 and now I’m stuck in this membership. Place was clean.. The hot tube was hot. The machines were ok. I thought they would have more. Employs were nice. I bought the 20 dollars for 20 days. Its worth the money if in can make it every other day. Nice gym Not sure how much it cost to join full time.

My better half and I have been coming here for a year now and overall there’s cleanliness in the gym. We are not impressed with the downtime of equipment once something is broken. The leg extension machine was out of service for about two months and now the ice machine is broken as well and no progress seems to be made. This is not ok for a gym.

They always have a blow-up slide for children on the outdoor pool and have really kind staff. They have a spa and indoor pools as well as plenty of exercise machines/weights. I go there every week for private swimming lessons. The coaches are easy to get along with

Tried to cancel my membership, was told to go online to cancel. Filled out the cancelation form and submitted. Was charged fortwo months after cancelling my membership (not a part of my contract, just kept charging me). Was told they would not give me any refund despite me never using the gym during those two months.

I've been going to Courthouse for about a year and thoroughly enjoy everything from the staff to the facilities. There are a lot of opportunities to train on your own, but I especially like attending the classes. The instructors are encouraging, make you feel comfortable, and give options for all fitness levels. They switch up the routines fairly often so it keeps things interesting and challenging. My personal favorite is High Fitness with Hrace and Jesse. They are the best!

Love High Fitness On Saturday mornings at 8AM ; It's a High Intensity aerobics class - Wide range age group; Usually several instructors per class - Instructors all super approachable. Exercise modifications included during the hour workout for most skillsets.
