Need a special needs gymnastics coach to allow autistic, developmentally delayed and intellectual disabled children to thrive, look no further. Coach Leah is incredibly patient, kind, and overall a wonderful person! I promise you won't regret giving it a try!!!

This place is awesome, if your child wants to try out gymnastics this is where you should go. Staff is very friendly. You can watch your child while they are in class.

My five year old left class crying this week. Five year olds aren’t the best listeners but they try, and I personally try with my child. However, this places has young teachers who clearly have never worked with children before and do not have patience or even appear to seem like they care about working with children. They rush through the activities and then tell the kids to pick an activity, when asked for more help or guidance the kids are asked why were they not listening to directions. I find this extremely inappropriate for their age range, they are five not 10. If you are going to be taking peoples children into your care for 45 minutes then make sure you have coaches who are qualified. I started with a four year old who loved gymnastics and now have a five year old who hates gymnastics because it makes her sad.

We love OGA! Our daughter has been going here for years for both classes and summer camps. Front desk staff is incredibly helpful and professional. Every coach we have had has been amazing.

We first came to OGA after a poor experience with their competitor OMEGA who failed to inform us of class cancellations and whose staff and management was incredibly rude to us. Totally different experience with OGA.

I recently signed up my two children at the Oregon Gymnastics Academy to take the introductory test and see if they would enjoy it, and I must say—it’s fantastic!

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed. The staff is incredibly kind, friendly, and affectionate, making you feel right at home. The teachers are absolutely amazing; they are not only professional but also great with kids, showing patience and enthusiasm every step of the way.

The facility itself is spotless and well-maintained, which immediately stood out to me. It’s clear they take pride in providing a safe and clean environment for children to learn and have fun.

I highly recommend this place to anyone considering gymnastics for their kids. It’s a great environment, and my children are already excited to go back!

Let me know if you’d like to adjust anything!

My kids went here for years. Inconsistent coaching, they'd actually get progress reports that they were getting worse between quarters. Started out great, but OGA started packing classes and hiring young, inexperienced coaches who aren't attentive.

My girls started here since they are 2+ years old and now they are pretty good at gymnastics. Coach turn over rate was high during and post pandemic but it seems like pretty stable now and our girls love their coaches. The only downside is that there is not enough parking spots and it can be really uncomfortably packed inside during busy time.

Enrolled my daughter in the ‘Glow Worms’ class for toddlers. Class is 30 minutes long. There are two instructors in the class, they ‘show’ you what the activity is once and then for the rest of the activity essentially just stand around. That’s after you spend 5+ minutes on an icebreaker that also don’t really teach any skill. In an activity when one child has to go at a time, everyone else is just standing around waiting while their toddler is running around because obviously, they have very short attention span. Why not break into small groups so we can maximize time in an already short class? Little to no guidance so the parent is left to teach their child on their own. Why pay for a CLASS when they’re not even teaching a skill? In the last two classes, they ended class early so the class was only 25 minutes, at best. The instructors are nice but lazy. If they weren’t lazy, they would be active during the class and walk around to each and every student giving consistent instruction and direction. After all this time is advertised as a class, not open gym.

Tuition is 4 classes per month once a week for this class. If they cancel a class (such as for Spring Break), they don’t refund that class. Rather, you have to wait for a month that has 5 weeks in it to get that class back.

Voiced all of my concerns to the Executive Director and she never once apologized. Clearly, reading other reviews I’m not the only parent that has had a negative experience with OGA and they don’t seem to care or want to make any improvements based on our conversation. She gave me a refund for the two remaining classes I paid for as we have no intention of attending one of their classes again. That was her quick solution.

Don’t waste your money on this facility as there are plenty of other good options in the area and you’ll just be left disappointed.

Worst experience with the Coach who lacks basic quality of a teacher" patience". The new and young coach has zero tolerance towards kids, she was so cold and so impatient with the kid and the parent on the first day, she acted as if she was doing a favor teaching kids. I wonder how could the management recruit someone like that to teach kids under 5, And the front desk never responds to any feedback. To most of the kids it is their first step towards finding their interest in something and that is taken away from them. so please save your time and money and go to a more sensible place. I would not have given a star just gave it to write the feedback.

OGA is a fabulous gymnastics facility. The gym itself is very spacious and they have lots of equipment for athletes of all abilities. Their staff, both coaches and managers, are attentive, helpful, and prioritize the mental and physical well being of all their patrons which is very appreciated. Highly recommend OGA for any level of gymnast.

The Coach was bullying and targeting my child. She called her a loser. We were here almost a year and my kid never moved up one class. The “coaches” are young teenagers trying to teach kids. They don't know the child’s different learning styles. This place is an absolute money pit and make it difficult to schedule make ups. The OGA Manager Mary did not even speak with me and try to correct the situation, not even a response email. Zero stars.

**Reply to OGA**

“At this point you are completely fabricating events and attempting to defame our staff by lying about them on the internet.” - OGA

You are personally attacking my character because I chose to speak up. Have you read the 5/6 reviews in chronological order before mine?

You are now not only bullying my daughter and now me. I am a minority colored female who wrote a review and you didn’t respond to the previous reviews?

you never responded to any of my emails but chose to write a public response so you don’t look bad for your reputation, board of directors, sponsors and profits. I have not received one email or response from you fixing the situation. Silence!

You are justifying my original concerns of bullying, rude behavior and now targeting me as a person and mother who is giving a voice to her 9 year old child.

This was meant to educate and bring awareness to listen to your customers as I am not the only one. My hope is that will cause reevaluation of not only for the business model/customer service but also training of your staff toward kindness, patience and compassion.

This review from 3 patents having the same impression.
We Have to agree with other reviewers who say that instructors are rude and most of them are irritated by little kids behaving like normal kids. So true! Just a few instructors are caring and kind. Most are just young immature girls who don’t know how to communicate with kids and older people their parents. Lots of boorish behavior and disrespectfulness . And they don’t really teach anything. No progress for years. Waste of time and money.

Front desk ladies are always kind and helpful though.

Horrible staff and organization. They continued to mess up our classes and make up classes and then blamed us for it. Then when I spoke to management they say “your account makes no sense”. Mind you, they do all the schedule. There are a few good coaches but most don’t really care and have little experience with toddlers. I witnessed one coach yelling at a kid for not paying attention. The people who run the place are very rude. Don’t go here.

I used to have a good review up for OGA but I had to update it. It’s all well and good when the kids are 3-4 but any older and you start to notice that the “instructors” don’t know how to work with the kids. They briefly show them how to do the different stations and then let them go. Then they may interact with your kid but more than likely your kid is spending most of the time standing there if they didn’t understand the station. Depending on the instructor they may spend half the time chit chatting with each other instead of teaching your kids.

They’ve also reduced the amount of time you have to use make up classes, and reduced the amount of classes so lately the classes have been full and the makes up have been expiring.

Despite paying a yearly membership fee you aren’t allowed to use the rest of your makeups if you aren’t currently enrolled in a class. So if you aren’t able to commit to showing up to almost all of your classes be prepared to be ‘out of luck’ when it comes to making the class up.

Excellent gymnastics program and Coaches. I am grateful that OGA chose to open at the earliest opportunity during this pandemic, even when other gyms were closed for several more months. It shows the level of organization, detail and planning they undertook to ensure our children did not lose their hard earned skills. OGA re-opened with enhanced cleaning, and mandated that all staff and gymnasts wear masks to ensure the gym can remain open without Covid-19 outbreaks. So far everyone has remained healthy!! Kudos to this club for keeping our children safe while ensuring the kids can continue to do what they love. Thank you Nicholas Pudewell & Irina for your dedication and care.

My daughter went here for gymnastics classes from around 3 to 4 years of age. I think it is a great place to introduce your kid to gymnastics. Teachers try to mix up gymnastics learning with fun activities for little kids. The place seems very well equipped for all ages and stages. There is a vast schedule to choose from, for each class. Their make up policy is very generous too. I have attended birthday parties here as well and the kids always had fun. Seemed well organized and the hosts seemed enthusiastic.

There were some issues for me though. My child needed a little bit of hand holding since she takes time to warm up. And I don't think teachers are trained to handle younger kids that way. That was not a problem for most parents of course, but it was for me. Second, the viewing gallery for parents is too chaotic. That's the waiting area for parents and also has a small ball pit area. It's also where kids are taking off their jackets, shoes etc and putting them in cubbies. Teachers are taking kids through this area to walk to the other side of the gym. It gets way too crowded and chaotic. They really should streamline that area.

The gym is wonderful but when my daughter was going there for a whole year she really didn't learn anything a lot of the instructors are in and out they keep changing teachers constantly so she has no common ground . Once she gets a good teacher gets changed out to another teacher that's like a cheerleader not even a gymnastics teacher . I believe they do not challenge the kids enough . They just keep teaching the same thing over and over and it's so basic that my daughter is very very sports active and wasn't able to learn anything she is on the swim team in the Advance very quickly because she had great teachers I believe that their teachers do not teach how to Advance . Very very basic stuff, they need to teach them how to advance they need to challenge them Waymore

After coming to this place for the first time I was amazed at how huge it was. This place really had a lot of everything a kid needs to be a gymnast. My daughters first intro class was awesome with only 3 kids in the class and a great male teacher. She came smiling to me that she loved it so I signed her up. However they ended up canceling that class so we had to be on a wait list. We finally got her into a class but it was NOTHING like the other class. The teacher did not spend any one on one time correcting the children and there were a lot more kids in that class. My daughter told me she was bored and the class was not fun or challenging for her.
For my toddler son we tried classes too. Being only 3 and not taking a structured class before it was a struggle. They told me I had to pay for private lessons for my toddler! I said ok but then I could not get anything scheduled. So when we would come and take my daughter to gymnastics he would cry and ask why he couldn't do gymnastics too? I finally dropped my daughter because she was so unhappy with her class and a year later STILL no phonecall to arrange a "private" class for my son. What a joke.
We started going to Metrogymnastics and WOW what a difference. They have an OUTSTANDING toddler program and incredible teachers. Teachers that take the time to get to know and understand the needs of each child. I was really impressed with their program.
So in the end I won't be taking my children back to OGA.

Terrible for toddlers. Terrible parking.
Here, they're adamant about having the kids warm up on the main gymnastics floor before bring them into a toddler room where they essentially walk a balance beam 2 inches off the floor, pull hula hoops over their bodies, and try to lift themselves off the ground by grabbing a bar a few inches over their heads. I get the need to teach warm up, but I don't know how necessary it was at this age and for these simple activities.

Anyway, my 3-year-old daughter wants to go to this toddler room, so she has to do the warm up on the main floor. The problem is that all of the noise and activity on the main floor freaks her out, and the warm up is on one of those spring platforms that goes up and down and bangs when jumped on. This really freaks her out, so she clings to me crying rather than participate. So then after warm up, we all go upstairs to the toddler room and the instructor COLDLY says she can't come in because she didn't warm up.

My daughter was devastated and I was furious. She was had only just turned 3 and I think time in the toddler room would have made her happy and more comfortable for the next warm up. How do you kick a willing and excited 3 year old out of a class? We tried one more time, same result, so I stopped taking her. The worst part is that she thinks she can't do it, like it's her fault, which breaks my heart.

The OGA folks have zero concept of how a toddler's mind works and how relatively unsocialized and fragile they are. Kids this young need to feel welcomed and encouraged, not shamed and left behind. Shameful.

If your child is older, this review may not apply to you, but if you're interested in starting your child at a younger age... READ ON....

I took my just-turned 3 year old daughter here for her first gymnastics lesson. I am NOT going back and requested a refund. Sure, this gym looks awesome because it has everything, but it's HUGE, and there are SO many people inside. I showed up early and met a few people at the front, but then joined the herd on the inside. There were so many kiddos! My girl was excited to come, and we'd been talking about it for a few weeks, so she was well prepared. But again, there were so many people inside and she immediately got shy. A young man showed up to take the kiddos down from the parent's balcony viewing area, and didn't notice her at all so I made sure to mention her name to him and that it was her first time. Annndd then it went downhill:
Bad things that happened:
1. They called her the wrong name for 10 minutes, so she wasn't responding to them when they spoke to her.
2. When they split the group into two by their names from a long line against the wall, every kid got called except mine. She was left alone on the wall. They were about to split to another area when they noticed her still sitting there. The young man then mentioned that she was new, so they found a spot for her with the other kiddos.
3. In the smaller group, one instructor, CJ, was AWFUL. They were walking the beam and mine had never even been on one. She was asking them to do specific moves on it as they walked down, which of course, my daughter was clueless to. After one turn on it, she went and sat down and no longer participated while the others were going right back to the end of the line and were being helped by CJ. They all knew what they were doing, and did a few tricks too. It seemed like the complete wrong class for my beginner. My daughter quickly lost interest and started creeping up the stairs back to me. She sat down and watched the others practice from there. Then CJ walked them all to other other side of the gym to the bathrooms, and was yelling at my daughter to come over to them. Then she looked up at me, and yelled at me in front of all the other parents, "If your daughter isn't going to join us, you need to come get her. " ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Thanks for trying! She wasn't even doing anything wrong - just sitting. I immediately got her, put her shoes on and left the gym. WORST experience ever.

I do have to mention Peyton, who was a gem of an employee. She was working with my daughter at the beginning (after I let them know they were calling her the wrong name) to get her comfortable and sit with the others and do what they were doing. My daughter was doing great after Peyton helped her, but as soon she was split into another group with CJ, she turned off.

Unless your child is completely comfortable in new environments with a lot of other students, you may want to reconsider this place. It seems there is no "beginner process." You just get stuck to a certain age group. It was overwhelming to say the least. I am going to search for a smaller gym that is more personable. This gym seems more focused on quantity than quality, and I am not a fan. It might be a better place to return to when she's older.

Oregon Gymnastics Academy is more then just a gymnastics facility, it is an organization in service to the community and a family to its members. I did gymnastics from when I was 8 to 16 years old here. In this time coach Leonard Spivey instilled work ethic and self-discipline into our team that not only drove us to be the dominate gymnastics force in the state but also gave me the tools to endure the up hill battle of starting my own businesses - businesses Oregon Gymnastics Academy went to great lengths to help support at start-up.

OGA is not the kind of place that forgets about you. They welcome all members back with open arms. Myself and many of my old team members worked in this fun and motivated environment. The internal culture of the organization echos the lessons learned as a child - healthy lifestyle, self-discipline, work ethic and above all enjoying life and having fun.

It has been amazing to see this organization grow to what it is today.
