I've been coming to PDXStrength since 202. I love the small classes, the coaches and the welcoming environment. Absolutely worth the trek for me from SW Portland to St. John's 3 times a week.

I’m a newbie in the gym scene and was feeling a bit anxious about putting theory into action. As a newbie, healthcare provider and parent to young kids (dynamic schedule), training with Laura has been a dream! Walking into my first session, I had a passerby wish me a great workout. Laura is so approachable and fun to chat with and has a clear and confident routine every time. I consistently leave the gym feeling strong all over in a balanced way I didn’t realize was possible. Moving towards group classes, I feel welcomed and comfortable. The music is energized and everyone speaks highly of their experience. I look forward to seeing where this new habit and community takes me!

Jocelyn is an amazing trainer. She provided me virtual programming, consistently delivering creative exercises and pushing me to achieve new heights outside of my comfort zone. She encouraged me to jumpstart my lower body workouts with kettlebell routines which have been challenging and rewarding. Personally, she is engaging, motivating, and an overall pleasure.

This little gym lifts a big stack! Great classes - challenging but accessable for all skill levels because the instructors will fit your workout to your interests and skills. Are you looking for a place to have fun with good people? It's here! Are you looking for more focus, more intensity? You can find it here, too.

I've been a gym rat since my Army days forty years ago, and PDXstrength is, across the board, the most welcoming, most challenging, most fun place I've ever trained.

Come on and try a class! I think you'll agree!

I hired jocelyn for personal training. I had not worked out for quite some time, and she was very knowledgeable and helped me get movement back that I had not had. Jocelyn is very present during the workouts and cares about your progress. Really I think she’s great for any level of fitness. The gym itself is Very functional! They have classes that you can drop in throughout the day. I highly recommend this place for nonjudgmental exercise!

Best gym ever!!!

I have been attending classes at PDX strength for years, they are challenging but scalable, and the environment is supportive, noncompetitive, and fun. I have recently started personal training sessions with Jocelyn and have made a ton of progress already. This neighborhood gym is a total gem - give it a whirl, you won't regret it!

PDXstrength is more than a gym, it's a third space with a shared community. The programing is class based with enthusiastic coaches that accommodate all levels of fitness. The vibe is quirky and they don't take themselves too seriously but you are aways guaranteed a great work out.

Inspiring place to go. Very good attention paid to me and to where I am and where I'm going with my workouts. Positive atmosphere. A good variety of classes covering every aspect of strength and conditioning instruction. It's a kinder, gentler answer to Crossfit and I find I want to go to PDX Strength to exercise, not make myself go there.

Jocelyn is such a great coach! I always have weird questions about form and what to do for this muscle or that muscle or β€˜what can I do if this body part is injured’, she always is enthusiastic to help me learn! She’s such a great teacher and always has the perfect exercise for my current fitness/injury level! The gym is amazing too; it’s a clean, inviting, no -pressure, space. Hard to find sometimes- especially being female.

This is without a doubt the best gym in all of Portland - and maybe even the country. I came to this gym as someone who had a background in athletics, but had never really done any weightlifting or strength training previously. All of the coaches who work here are awesome - they are super supportive and encouraging, while also very helpful in teaching you the proper form and motion for each exercise. The people that go here are great too, everyone is so kind and welcoming, and you can truly come to this place as you are. Joining this gym was the best decision I made while living in Portland!

I was introduced to the idea of community gyms through my brother who is into competitive lifting. I am into the idea of keeping my bones healthy through regular weight training. Also going to a class where people know your name and there is a route for progression really helps for me. The coaches are great and I love the class options. I think it is cool that there are seasonal classes for things like skateboard conditioning too!

My husband and I are on year eight of coming to PDX Strength. We joined a few months after moving to Portland. Nearly all of our friends were made through the gym. We bought a house in the neighborhood because staying at the gym was that important! I always want people to feel comfortable and included...I know it can be tough to be new and maybe even intimidating. So come say hello (your first class is free!) -- I like to think of myself as the unofficial welcome committee πŸ˜†. Clearly we like the place! See you there!

This is the gym I've been searching for!

Went for a starter class and am absolutely hooked.

The instructor was fun and supportive and clearly knew their stuff.

The routine was intense but I never felt pressured to exceed what I felt comfortable doing.

The group was all body types, ages and backgrounds.

Cannot recommend enough.

I've been going to PDX Strength for almost a year now and it's been such an awesome experience. The coaches are awesome and very knowledgeable, the community is welcoming, and the workouts are always fun. The gym has a very down-to-earth, chill vibe that I really appreciate and makes it easy to jump into as a newbie. During the lockdown, Jocelyn and crew pivoted immediately to online classes to made sure we still had great workout options to do from home. If you're looking for an awesome new gym, come hang with us at PDX Strength!

PDXstrength is the best! The community is so welcoming and modifications are readily available so everyone can have an accessible and challenging workout and still be successful, no matter what their level. There’s none of the weird bro-y culture or overly competitive vibes and no talk of restrictive diet culture like in other gyms. Just a truly friendly community that supports each other to do our best (maybe with some talk of reality tv or best local restaurants thrown in). Since becoming a member I’m the most consistent I’ve ever been in working out, because I actually ENJOY going. Thank you Jocelyn & coaches for all you do!

After many months of coming to PDXstrength, I finally realized why I like this gym so much after hearing the owner say "if someone is really competitive they should go to another gym, we're more about harmony". Jossy and all the coaches keep such an positive and personal mood to this community, without sacrificing any of the experience and expertise. And the quick pivot to online classes/coaching as the current pandemic set in was professional, seamless, and motivated to help the gym goers. I love this community so much, I partnered my business with them (physical therapy). Sure, that makes me biased. But I hope it also speaks volumes as to my admiration for PDXstrength.

I've been so lucky to have PDXstrength in my life over the last year! They've done such a great job keeping us motivated with online classes and interesting programming. The coaches are always ready with modifications to the workouts for our various at-home gym setups and individual needs (fitness levels, injuries etc). They even let us borrow equipment during quarantine, which really speaks for the kind of community it is. The coaching staff is amazing!!

I’ve been working out at PDXStrength for 8 months now and I absolutely love it. I attended a free class knowing that I was completely out of shape and needed to find something. Corporate gyms and personal trainers had let me down and I was ready for something different.
What I find at PDXStrength is an extremely dedicated staff that is very knowledgeable and encouraging. The coaches are always able to scale workouts to accommodate my skill level or any physical limitations so that I’m able to get an extremely intense workout without risking injury.
I’m also impressed with the culture at this gym. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Common goals over competition.

After a 4 year hiatus I figured it was time to get back into the gym. I wanted a different approach than my previous attempts and carefully choose where I was going to join. I have to say that PDXstrength feels like home. I was fearful, had some anxiety about going the first time and had doubts that I would like going, fit in, etc. everything you can imagine, until the first day of PDX101. I have to say Jocelyn and her crew are AMAZING! The coaches are all encouraging, help you scale exercises to your capacity but also help you push to improve, all without belittling or discouraging. The other members/athletes, are also awesome and encouraging.

If you’re looking for a new place to get your fitness on, give PDXstrength a shot, you won’t regret it!

A solid gym with a laid back vibe. All the great training you're looking for from crossfit-type workouts to weightlifting to running and fun group workouts. You can find your fit here for whatever you want to do. The best thing about this gym is that the attitude is checked at the door. No meatheads here just a bunch of awesome people working on their fitness. Supportive culture, great coaches and lots of fun. We were new to the area and wanted to meet new people and have fun doing it -- one of our best decisions we've made. Enroll and try it out, you won't regret!

This gym is incredible. It's not *just* a gym, though, it's a really special community that is based on health, fun and holistic positive thinking. What is happening here is truly amazing. The atmosphere is different than normal gyms, which I personally have never felt comfortable going to- especially gyms that do similar "strength and conditioning," workouts like Cross-Fit. The classes are small so you're basically working with your own trainer and you get tons of great feedback and encouragement. It's really supportive and SUPER FUN and all-inclusive, NOBODY is out of place here. It's like, you literally get all the incredible results of cross-fit while you're meeting really cool people that live in your neighborhood and just having a fab time with them. There's always great music on, cool art and murals and new equipment to use. Jocelyn and the staff are always organizing social and charitable events as well, so there's also a lot of opportunities to hang out with other community members outside the gym. They really cater to every level, I've seen everyone from beginners in there turning over a new leaf, to beefy dudes that have obviously been lifting for years. Trying new things is always hard, especially the first time you break the seal and just GO (especially going to a new gym if you haven't for a while) but at PDX Strength they make stepping over that threshold SO easy, by just welcoming you with open arms. If you are thinking about it, just go check it out! It might be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

Incredible gym! Different than any gym experience I've ever had, and I've been members of multiple crossfit and traditional gyms in the past. The trainers together have vast knowledge of the body and are able to combine their unique specialties and skill sets to create incredibly challenging work outs each and every day.

All workouts are hour long, instructor led group training classes that combine lifting and conditioning to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility. They pay a keen attention to detail and do not accept poor form so every day is truly challenging in the best way possible. They offer multiple modification options for each exercise so athletes of all levels can perform and compete. The instructors and other athletes (members) are constantly beaming with positivity and encouragement so you can't help but leave class feeling spent and with a big smile on your face.

Would ABSOLUTELY recommend to anyone looking to challenge themselves, be surrounded by positive people, and to change their lives.

Love this place! I get up every day excited to go to class. The coaches know their stuff and are amazing with helping you do what works for your body.

Prior to attending PDXstrength I had fallen into a "workout funk". I wasn't going to the gym more than 2x a week and I was definitely feeling it!

This gym helped me revive my love of fitness. I've also seen huge improvements in my self esteem and my confidence in group workouts/lifting.

Everyone here is amazing, the coaches and the peers as well as the occasional pups that visit are inspiring and very motivating! It's definitely a place where you can be at the level your at and still workout next to the strongest athletes in the gym.

If you've been thinking about trying more intense workouts and wanting to have a blast while challenging yourself, then check this gym out! It's my new happy place :)

PDXstrength is a great one-stop-shop to make rapid progress in functional fitness. I'm talking everyone from the couch potato that is serious about getting fit, to folks who want to participate in Crossfit and olympic weightlifting competitions. The general strength and conditioning class takes care of all the basics, including sprint intervals, cardiovascular development, strength training, mobility and gymnastics. But for those who want more, there are lots of great workshops, a specialized olympic weightlifting class, yoga and parkour class. I mean who doesn't secretly want to do parkour ? When the weather is good (or even sometimes bad) classes make use of the outdoors around cathedral park. At PDXstrength, they've done a really good job of making all the most functional training options available a wide range of fitness enthusiasts.

Jocelyn and the coaches at PDXstrength do a fantastic job of providing an environment embedded with enthusiasm, support, and encouragement! In all of my experiences working with Jocelyn at PDXstrength, she has prioritized my long term goals and best interests. She has served as a mentor by provided guidance in terms of my aspirations to be a better athlete and coach.

The classes at PDXstrength cover a wide range of movements and exercises; this variety allows athletes to develop skills that translate into every day life. Mobility and long term functionality is of high priority at PDXstrength- the coaches want members to be healthy for the long run! No matter what athletic experience one has (if any!), I highly recommend PDXstrength to improve fitness and general preparedness as a human being!
