Paul is a wonderful trainer and Peak Condition is a great gym. I’ve been working out with Peak Condition for 1.5 years and have seen a significant increase in my strength and fitness. Paul listens, is easy to talk to and creates specialized training programs specific to each client’s needs. He’s the only trainer in PDX (that I know of) trained in a highly effective and targeted training modality called the Internal Strength Model. Peak Condition has a comfortable, friendly vibe and isn’t intimidating or “bro-ey” like some other gyms. Grateful to get to work out with Paul @Peak Condition.

Paul is the best! I’ve been working with Paul for 8 years. He’s smart and patient. He has helped me train for specific events (long hikes), through pregnancy and postpartum, and general strength and fitness. Cannot recommended highly enough!

Two years ago I was having a lot of joint problems; I had trouble just walking and wasn't even 60 yet. At the time, I felt like the CARs I was doing were helping somewhat so I sought out a trainer with Functional Range System knowledge. I was so lucky that I found Paul Collins.

Now I walk much faster for longer periods of time, I can even skip rope! I'm back to partner dancing, some yoga poses I had lost have come back, and my reaction time has notably improved because of training with Paul.

The training is completely personalized and takes into account your goals, injuries, and habits. Paul expertly creates your program to improve joint strength, mobility and body control.

I've had many past experiences with trainers who've pushed me to injury and am very happy to say this just isn't the method at Peak Condition. I always feel safe with what Paul has me work on.

I've had amazing progress with my body's ranges of motion, while simultaneously training my nervous system on how to control those new ranges.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Paul and everyone at Peak Condition. I've been training there for over 8 years now and I continually see progress. This is not your typical injury-prone, bro gym where you feel like you're being pushed past your limits. This is a gym full of many different ages and abilities, with an emphasis on functional training for athletes. Paul creates a personalized monthly routine for you, walks through each exercise, then gives you the space to try it out on your own. He's always there to answer questions or adapt things as needed. I also really appreciate his patience and knowledge of the body as a system. Highly recommend!

I’ve been training at this gym for a year and a half, and it’s been a game-changer for me. The gym operates on a semi-personal training model, which means I go in two to three times a week and follow a personalized training program with plenty of attention from my trainer. This approach makes it much more affordable than traditional personal training while still providing a customized, 1:1 experience.

Paul, my trainer, has been amazing—attentive, knowledgeable, and great at helping me set and achieve goals. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and before starting here, I struggled with consistent injuries from other workouts and running. Paul helped me adjust my training approach to focus on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and adapting my workouts, and I'm proud to say Im now able to do other sports injury free! :)

The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and inclusive. Everyone is friendly and supportive, creating a space where people of all fitness levels feel comfortable. I’ve always had a hard time being consistent with workouts, but training here has become an important and enjoyable part of my week.

The new, larger space is fantastic—plenty of room and a great variety of equipment. Since this is not an open gym, you come in for your scheduled training sessions and follow your personalized workout program. It’s a great setup for anyone focused on functional training, cross-training for other sports, or injury prevention.

I highly recommend Peak Condition to anyone looking for a structured, supportive environment. This has been the most consistent fitness journey I’ve ever had, and I’m super grateful for Paul and the team!

From the moment I walked in, I knew my life would be different-training, training, and training. He has a knack for creating individualized programs for each person. He trains with five people at a time, and the results are amazing. Thank you, I am truly amazed!!

I recently started working out here. As an “older” woman who hadn’t done any strength training in years, I was slightly worried I would feel out of place. Fortunately, there are members of all ages and abilities and my fears were immediately put to rest. Paul is an extremely knowledgeable and patient coach. He has a great way of motivating people and explains details extremely well. I look forward to improving my own health and continuing to learn from Paul so I can be as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

The strength training I receive here is excellent. It's personalized, but not in your face. They really LISTEN to what you want and need and then truly explain how things work and what to do to achieve those goals. I quickly got to a point where I didn't feel good unless I was able to get in there at least 3 times a week, but so easy since it was on my schedule and timeline. I couldn't recommend this gym more!!!

I've been training with Paul for several months now and can't recommend him & Peak Condition highly enough.

Paul takes great care to understand your individual training goals and designs very specific month-long programs to guide your training - and he checks in regularly to evolve with your goals. His training style is that of a very patient teacher (not unlike Mr. Miyagi!), making sure you understand both the intent and focus of each exercise as well as the body awareness to ensure it's doing what is intended.

I've really enjoyed the small group training environment as well, so that you get enough guidance & motivation to make progress while also having freedom to take things at your pace & build confidence in your ability to navigate a program on your own.

Paul is super mindful of capacity to ensure there's enough space for everyone to do their thing. The vibes in the gym are warm and everyone in there is supportive and respectful.

This is a review about communication. I was interested in this place and I called. The phone system was strange and it was like they tried to avoid to talk with people, and email response was extremely slow and didn't come back during a day. They ended up not answering my question. I understand that they want to select people and must be nice to selected people but I it was not my case.

Paul and the training programs he creates for me have greatly assisted me in building the stability in my body I need to return to activities I have been guarding against for fear of injury. This is not the place to go if you just want to power over and through to get to your goals. This is a finely tuned approach that is helping me to build exquisite knowledge of just want my body needs to build and maintain truly functional strength. Worth every penny.

I began working with Paul in 2022, feeling beat up and injured after a summer of backpacking. I had a goal to complete a 100 mile trek through the Alps the following summer and I wanted to finish it pain and injury free. The results I experienced exceeded my expectations and I felt great during and after my trip. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and I have continued to work with him since. I have learned so much about my body and he has helped me become stronger and work through problem areas. I love that Paul is an outdoor athlete himself, so he understands. He is patient and really takes time to educate his clients. I am really grateful for his expertise and believe I have many good years of trekking through the mountains ahead of me because of Paul.

This is an amazing place to train. The facility is large and well-equipped. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and caring, and he creates custom plans for each athlete based on individual goals. The atmosphere is supportive and fun, and no matter how big or small your goals may seem, paul does everything he can to help you achieve your goals and feel good doing it.

Wish I’d joined sooner! I’ve always tried to stay active but I never really had a clear plan. Paul listened to my goals, developed a workout for me, and I’m seeing results which has positively impacted my everyday life more than I expected. I was carrying a heavy table the other day with no problem and sort of surprised myself because there’s no way I could have done that a few months ago. You can tell Peak Condition actually cares and they treat everyone with respect. The workouts vary to keep things interesting and I appreciate that they play a good mix of music. If you are wanting to take your fitness to the next level or just get started, Peak Condition is the way to go.

Fabulous, deeply knowledgable, and caring personal trainer. He's my go to for all my fitness goals, which mostly involve the ability to be super strong in crazy positions so I can have even more fun dancing! And as a fellow health and fitness professional, he's my go to referral for all my clients and friends that want strength training. His knowledge base allows for far more than what is commonly considered strength and mobility training as well, because he knows how to bulletproof joints for any activity you wish to train for, and to facilitate graceful aging well into old age. Highly recommend!

I've never before experienced the thoughtful assessment and training that I received at Peak Condition. Paul spent a lot of time with me to determine my range of motion and to pinpoint areas to focus on building strength and flexibility. The exercises were surprising and not at all what I'd come to expect from a regular gym. Paul offered detailed coaching to make sure I was getting the most from each exercise. I am already seeing the benefits. I can't recommend this gym highly enough.

I really love training at Peak Condition. Their training is so personalized and so focused on helping me to move and compete better at whatever sport I'm focused on while also really doing a great job of injury mitigation, focusing on structural issues, and managing my long term injuries I have.

I have worked with both James and Paul, and they are both just exceptionally good at what they do and personal in how they help me to improve.

Best gym ever. Paul and James are amazing trainers, and Rachel is always flexible in helping me schedule workouts around my schedule. I’ve been training at Peak for 1.5 years and the changes in my strength, appearance and energy have been astounding. Paul changes my workout program each month to my progress and goals, which keeps me motivated. Paul and James listen authentically, and provide instruction and support every day I’m there. I’ve never stuck to a workout program or have been as motivated—or seen results—like I have at Peak.

After 2 years, I am able to to run over 6 miles again with Paul's strength and training program. At 51, I PR'd my half marathon by 2 minutes- I know the strengthening has allowed my running to continue (and get faster) and am so so thankful!!

I’ve been training with Peak Conditioning for about 6 weeks and I can say it’s been phenomenal! As a life long athlete in my mid forties I came in with several limitations from past injuries. My body feels as good as it has in years! Peak Conditioning will help you achieve your goals!!

I have been going to peak and training with Paul and Gabe for over a year. I was encouraged to visit Peak by a friend who was extremely happy with her personal training results but I was hesitant as I had seen so many trainers over the years that didn't seem to know what they were doing.
These guys know what they are doing!! They start with an assessment to see how your body moves and where you need work and you also give them your specific goals. All my workouts are tailored to my body and goals. I feel stronger, I do not have back pain anymore and I feel going to peak is a key part of my week. They also do not rush you in to any exercise you are not ready for. They are cautious to make sure you have proper technique. I recommend them to all my family and friends!!

Cool spot. Experienced staff who have a professional demeanor, lots of experience and a great dept of health science knowledge. I've been here for about five months. I started with back pain, arthritis, hip pain. Now I'm doing back squats, cleans, bench press, pull ups and feel ballistic. At age 44, but feel 25. P.S. Ask for Cesar...
