Rae is truly a ray of gentle light and warmth when she teaches. Her voice is soothing and the guidance and suggestions provided throughout the 90 minute class kept me engaged and solid both in body and mind, while leaving me relaxed, refreshed, and ready to start my day. As a disabled, neurodivergent, hypermobile person, it’s so hard to find instructors able to accurately and continuously give prompts for seemingly subtle adjustments that are so necessary to be able to not just feel the workout and mechanics of yoga, but to do so safely for differing bodies. Strongly suggest anyone curious about yoga, especially those who worry their bodies aren’t made for it, to try one of Rae’s classes. Having an instructor who understands different disabilities and neurotypes has been a blessing to this difficult body. Thank you, Rae, for sharing your gift!

Feeling so much better after a Gentle Yoga class at Yoga Luna yesterday! Having a solid home practice is good, but I need Maddie to gently lead me out of my habits of rushing through the poses. Everyone should go visit Yoga Luna!

I love having such a great yoga studio so close to me! Such an amazing group of people. I attended my first one using the first class free coupon and it was such a good way to have a trial. I loved it so much I had to come back. My favorite yoga I've ever been to! :)

I finally made it to YogaLuna for a MELT (TM) class taught by the incredibly gorgeous and wise Lila. I wish I hadn't waited so long. Class was profoundly transformative- all my joints and muscles are cooperating better now. And, truly my entire organism feels better integrated and aligned. And I was so relaxed. That's the sign I look for: Excellent instruction for my brain while my body goes deep into healing mode. So grateful to YogaLuna for all the fantastic offerings!

Maddie Adams is one of the best yoga teachers in the Portland area, especially for those who want ongoing support for their yoga practice. She is generous and thoughtful in how she presents each class. Beginners to advanced students are able to discover their own unique level of balanced effort for optimal learning. She focuses in depth on the full range of what yoga offers, beginning with a short chanting practice, followed with poses or Hatha yoga in all four positions (standing, lying down, sitting, moving), integrating mindfulness meditation throughout the practice; which borders on a more Vinyasa flow, maintaining connection with the breath during the poses and transitions between poses. The classes are 1.5 hours long, so there is enough time to end with breath practice, or pranayama. Maddie manages to integrate all this by offering a seasonal Ayurvedic theme that awakens a soft spiritual and philosophical perspective, enhancing the relationship between yoga on the mat and yoga in daily life. While we stretch and strengthen our muscles and increase our agility and balance, we learn to embody the teachings of yoga so our heart-minds open to the full range of human goodness: a more equanimous, kind, generous, compassionate heart with a more discerning, concentrated, clear, and open mind. Maddie's students are given the gift of yoga, the union of heart, body, mind, and spirit. Gratitude is the result.

I loved taking Maddie’s postpartum yoga series! She tailored each class to the needs of the group and created a warm and fun environment. My baby loved being held by her when he would get a little fussy 😊 She’s a wealth of knowledge and my baby and I are looking forward to next month’s postpartum yoga classes!

This has been an incredible experience for me. My husband passed away nine months ago and I was suffering from severe anxiety. The restorative yoga class has taken away all of my anxiety and Erin is an incredibly kind and generous human that really cares about you. This has been the first time I’ve allowed myself self care since my husbands passing and I couldn’t have found a better place or instructor.

Maddie is an amazing yogi who tailors each class to what her students need that day. I always leave her classes in a more rejuvenated and peaceful state. I’m extremely picky when it comes to yoga instructors, and of the dozens of different yoga instructors with whom I’ve practiced over the past 25 years, Maddie is one of my three favorite. From summertime outdoor practice in the park to Hatha, restorative, and special series, Maddie supports her students’ minds and bodies.

I started attending Prenatal Yoga with Maddie and loved it so much I continued with her to Postpartum yoga and beyond. Her knowledge and treatment of the female body is truly something special. She has created a warm and restful environment that was a lifesaver as an anxious mom-to-be and so healing as a new mother. The pelvic floor work and breathing techniques prepared me so well for a natural birth and were critical to my recovery. The class sizes are small so you’re able to work through any specific aches and pains (and commiserate with other mamas), but the highlight was always the mental and spiritual relief you feel after - ask her about the goddess pose! also taking my newborn to yoga class will always be some of my sweetest memories of that time.

This was a great experience! Especially if you tend to experience a lot of stress. I learned a lot about different breathing techniques and stretches that help with pregnancy aches and pains. Maddie is a wonderful instructor and also leads a very relaxing meditation.

Maddie offers a welcoming, inclusive and peaceful space and presence. I especially appreciate her knowledge and experience with what I call "real yoga", which imbodies attention to energy flow, breathing, emotions, yogic wisdom and mantras in addition to any movement or postures.

I started Prenantal yoga with Maddie in June and it’s been wonderful! She offers a space for mental and physical expression and support during a lot of change in a woman’s life/body.
She’s a great instructor who focuses on the needs of the group. Highly recommend her classes.

Once I have my baby, I’m excited to check out her postpartum yoga classes for mommy + baby.
