The dude behind the counter took my payment and didn't offer me any directions on where anything in the building was. After spending ten minutes looking for the pool I was told it's been closed for a year now. If I'd have known about that I probably wouldn't have paid 70 dollars to join.

This place literally disgusts me. I sent my children here for summer camp this year. I paid the full amount of money, but they didn't do half of the things they promised. My children were not properly supervised. My youngest son came home with bad marks on the back of his head, and both my children complained that the counselors made them uncomfortable. One of the counselors, Aaron, is in the middle of a gender transition and made my boys call him Ms. which made them truly uncomfortable. The last day there my son asked him to please give him some space because he was uncomfortable with how close Aaron was and Aaron responded with, "I'm glad I'm making you uncomfortable." That's sick. I will never send my children here again.

recently got a membership and was told that the pool was out of order and will be for the foreseeable future so i tried to go to another ymca to use their pool and wasn’t allowed to for some odd reason. the weight room ac is also broke so you can’t work out without being half dead the entire time. all of the facilities are extremely old and the fact that i can’t use my membership at any other Ymca is extremely disappointing. will most likely be canceling soon

Recently joined YMCA (North Side) location. But decided to cancel less than 24hrs later. Got an email from A.W. (initials) did confirm my cancellation but never mentioned a refund. So i decided to wait for a response still no response from anyone about my refund. Very unprofessional. I'll follow up with my financial institution. I will NOT be JOINING Anything affiliated with the YMCA. Do better!😡

Boy oh Boy where do I begin, let’s be clear the only way I could successfully leave my review, your forced to click at least one star, dreadful !! Let me let you guys in on this Tea!! Grab a seat this older woman of African American descent was the most cruelest, most dehumanizing, mean lady omg literally made me cry & sent me into numbers of Triggers 😢 there was so many people inside the waiting area there in the front, & she constantly continuously, kept yelling so loud “well i jus spoke to the lady & she said your membership is not active so you have to pay $45” the entire time she wasn’t even listening or interested in what I was saying she Just tried so hard to be mean to me & embarrass me I ran out of there literally cried walking down the street, I really wish people would Just STOP with the “no compassion whatsoever” era & treatment, this visit was Extremely cringe i will NEVERRRR RETURN & tell my friends & family to NEVER go here as well also this place inside looks extremely outdated & old i simply just stopped in to ask a question about my membership & good vibes, instead I was Humiliated 😔 Guys Jus go somewhere else, love you guys 🫶🏽

Whoever that blond haired, thinner woman is at the front desk, mid 40’s, SUPER SUPER RUDE! you guys need to fire your staff and hire people that represent good customer service. I will never visit this YMCA again. I can’t believe the ignorance that these females show the members of this YMCA. Shaking their head and staring at members blatantly irritated with signing them in. Outrageous behavior. The lockers are all rusted out and have holes in them. Close the place down and replace things to make it a welcoming experience. I have no idea what kind of establishment would allow customers to use this establishment in the condition that the facility is in. If Someone gets cut on these lockers a lawsuit will be immediately filed. I can’t believe the level of disrespect and lack of customer service. These staff members have. Very dissatisfied. Never returning.

This review is only for the swim program - I think the Level 1 swim acclimation class for 3-5 year olds is FANTASTIC. Class size is small (somewhere between 2-5 kids), the teachers are so patient with the kids (including my chatty Cathy) and they have done so much more for water safety and instruction in just 2 sessions than we got at another program elsewhere. Small, very clean pool in the basement with access to family changing rooms that aren't fancy or new, but meet your basic needs.

This Y is perfect. It’s low key, not flashy, and the staff here are great. To everyone that complains about this location and says that it’s old and located in “a ghetto” do everyone a favor a go back to your yuppie gym that’s located in cranberry or Wexford. The staff goes above and beyond with cleaning the facility and keeping spray bottles stocked. It’s a really nice gym.

March 2020-July 2020 this YMCA was closed. I called numerous of times. Left voice messages. Never received a call back. I called to put my membership on hold due to closing of COVID. Between March -July 2020 I was charge $60 per month for my membership. I gave the YMCA another call, July 2020. Spoke with a guy who then directed me to a woman who’s the lead director. We spoke via email. She then told me I will not get refunded and the money of going to donation, charity and the YMCA. Little did she know I was in the process of being laid off from my job. And did not give authorization for money to be taken out my account. How can you charge my account without providing any service for which I signed up for? The YMCA on the northside of Pittsburgh do shady business.

I’ve tried to cancel my membership here for SEVEN months. I’ve filled out the form. I’ve called 4 times. They are still charging me. I’ve been promised the membership director would call me back multiple times. I don’t know what else to do but change my credit card number.

Allegheny YMCA, great place to get your sweat on. Full service, with a full size basketball court, pool, studio rooms, weight room and cardio room. Oh yes, yoga! They have trainers, and the best staff. Cost is more than reasonable. Now, go get your sweat on!

$31 a month, not as cheap as I expected from a Y. I was a member at LA Fitness for 22 per month. Old and dinghy. I went to take a shower after my swim and someone had the nerve to steal my deva curl gel. Yes, my hair gel. Relieved all my other belonging were still locked up. Didn't expect in the short amount of time to rinse off my gel would be gone. Parking is also a pain. No lot, so only onstreet is available. It is hard to find an open spot even mid day. There is a pool, equipment, & the staff is friendly. I checked the YMCA app on my phone for North Side open swim. Pool was suppose to be open. I took my shower 1st as rules state before entering pool. The door was locked to the pool. At least hang a sign, pool closed. This was winter and very inconvenient.

Rented a room there for a week I did not see all the slanderous sounding things that were said about crackheads that sounds unfair but they did not tell me I had to bring a sleeping bag and some bed sheets or I would have: Hope they find some blankets instead of catering to uppity yuppie scum in the health club.

As a member for six years, I have used the gym each weekday and many Saturdays starting 30 minutes before the posted opening times. This allows me to do a few weights to warm up before a Spin class on several days.
Today a new employee told me she can't let me in until 8 am, the official opening time.
This Y has residential rooms so this front desk is manned 27/7. So what moron in management at this facility decided on this restrictive policy when someone is at the desk in any case for the residents??
I chose this gym because it's in my neighborhood, but many other hums with much better hours for my schedule are within driving distance. I want a gym with better hours and, by the way, better facilities maintained far better than this shabby old Y.
I can far less for a better gym elsewhere. I guess the message from the Y management is "go ahead, leave."
Thanks, Bill and Marissa. The staffer said this policy change is your idea.
UPDATE: I quit this Y on 10/31/18. Well, actually this YMCA QUIT ME. Management closes only this branch for a week, with no membership refund for the inconvenience. The management is out of touch with the gym membership and facilities are unclean and poorly maintained. Rates are not competitive with other better managed, cleaner and better equipped workout facilities.
I am going to another gym, though this is the closest to my house.
I do not recommend this YMCA.

Yinz guys are the worst neighbors ever. How dare you leave that eyesore of a garden plot next to my friends business. Yinz are lazy and never take care of anything. My friend took care of that plot of land you destroyed for 15 years before you decided to come over and put those ugly garden plots in. Nobody wants that piece of property, us city residents just want it to look nice but no.. all those people you have circulating in and out of there and no one takes care of the plot they started. What a disgrace. I let everyone of those sponsers on that sign in on what their sponsering. I'm sure their not going to be happy either.

My first visit was like meeting new family and running into older family. Although an older facility with upgraded equipment the staff more than make up for existing building. Located in a great area Mexican War Streets residential educational as well as businesses rebuilding neat Allegheny Hospital etc.

Not the biggest facility, but it has everything you need to get (or stay) in shape. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. Been coming here for months since I live in the area and met a bunch of new people. It’s a great community

The nicest people. It is a beautiful old building with its challenges but with character and charm. I feel a part of a community that runs so many programs for disadvantaged children and adults. Remember that the YMCA is a non profit.

This Y I admit wasn't the best Y I've been to. I mean, it feels very lacking of equipment. The staff seem like they are a bunch of bums. Of course, what more do you expect when your facility is located in a ghetto.

I've only just joined; However, everyone has gone out of thier way to make me feel at home even though I am a completely a novice. I had a great consultation with Kylee, she really took the time to learn about my medical issues and helped me develop a program that gave me what I needed based on what I have, strengths and opportunities. Joe, gave me a tour before I joined and really made me feel welcome. I think I really like this establishment. Thank you.
