We love British Swim School! Both of my kids (10 and 4) take lessons here, and the experience has been amazing. My 10-year-old has made so much progress in a short time. The instructors (Ally and Kevin) really know how to push and encourage the older kids.

My 4-year-old started off terrified of the water, and I honestly wasn’t sure how it would go. Coach Esperanza been so gentle and patient with him. All of the staff celebrate every little step and have helped him go from crying at the edge of the pool to actually enjoying himself in the water!

Shoutout to Lauren and Evan on deck! They are always so friendly and helpful. They keep things running smoothly and make us feel welcome every time we come in.

I highly recommend British School. My daughter has been in the program a little over a month and there has been so much progress. Prior to joining, she was afraid to jump in the pool, go under water and lacked confidence with swimming. She’s now floating backwards on her own. Jumping in the pool by herself without assistance and has moved up to Minnow. Ariel has been one of our consistent instructors and she’s great.

Lastly, I would like to call out Michael; he oversees the entire program at Cheltenham LA fitness and his customer support and communication is commendable. If I have a scheduling conflict, he’s always going the extra mile to assist us with rescheduling a class with no issues. My experience has been a 10/10 and overall, my 5 year old loves it and is developing in the program weekly.

I take swim lessons with my husband and children and it is the best experience ever ! Our Saturday instructor Ally makes us feel safe and confident. I was satisfied with the British School. I’m not attending the program as of now because it was a little pricey for my budget.
My grandson was a bit immature and didn’t want to listen to their female instructors.
I can understand my four year old not wanting to listen to their female instructors after dealing with his female teachers all day. Maybe they can use some male instructors for their program in the future but overall it is a great program that I will recommend to anyone who is looking for a swim school.

As an adult with mediocre swimming skills I really enjoyed my time at The British Swim School over the past few months.

My instructor Esperanza is very patient, helpful and reassuring. The other instructors like Sheriah are as well since I’ve had to take substitute classes anytime my schedule conflicted with my set weekly class.

Speaking of substitute classes, the app for the school is very user friendly and helps you to reschedule classes so your tuition does not go to waste in the event life gets in the way. The flexibility is very much welcomed.

I highly recommend Adult 2 classes for anyone like me who is not afraid of water and has limited swimming skills who wants to a advance into a confident swimmer with learned safety techniques for fatigue or cramping in the water.

My wife and I would like to share our experience with British Swim School. The employees at this specific location are cooperative, well-mannered, respectful, and knowledgeable. Very professional with children; open, responsive, attentive, trustworthy. My two children gravitated to Kevin and immersed themselves in a semi-familiar atmosphere with an unfamiliar person. They have tiers, and as the children's performance increases, they move up. Timing/scheduling and trainers' availability, Evan and staff is proactive in working with parents' busy schedules as much as possible. British Swim School is located at LA Fitness, yet does not receive discounts nor is associated with them. That would be a separate cost. Plentiful parking, seating for parents to encourage and supervise children. Seating isn't as gracious as parking spaces, so it's first come, first served. Classes are affordable.

Two weeks ago, I had a substitute swim instructor by the name of Kevin. I must say that his swim class was the best class I have had since joining. Kevin was so great at demonstrating and then coaching me through my swim exercises. I liked that he gave a lot of positive feedback when I did an exercise correctly, but he also pointed out what I was doing wrong and showed me the right method. He has such a beautiful personality and a great smile, and he is funny. I wish he could teach at BSS LA Fitness in Cheltenham more often. Five stars for Kevin.

always afraid of the water . I would watch my friend's swim and I would just always stand in the water like I was having fun. I met the owner of British swim school, and
I signed up for swim lessons. I knew nothing about swimming. The instructors were very kind and patient with me. They allow me to go at my own pace. Yet they push me to achieve my goals. All of the teachers are patient and kind. Esperanza and Ariel does an amazing job with the kids. They will guide you on figuring out what techniques you need to work on while simultaneously instilling confidence in you. I am a beginner at learning how to swim. I came across this company that offers swimming at all ages and different levels. I can truly say it has been a wonderful experience. All the instructors are very patient and don't rush you. They demonstrate and help you correct you mistakes. They are very encouraging while is a plus. Also if you have an issues someone is always available and they offer classes to suit your needs. If you are considering to learn even as an new adult I will try British Swim school.

As a swimmer for.many years, this was the best experience to enhance my skills while developing skills for endurance. Esperanza, was the assigned instructor during my 2024 final 2 week summer class and the 4 week 2025 spring class.

I have observed all the instructors that demonstrate consistency in their teaching, laughter, kindness and patience, especially with the young children.

This is definitely a family investment for every member to learn water safety.

This swim school is AFFORDABLE, great location, everyone is kind and helpful! I also really love out flexible they are. You can do make-up classes with NO HASSLE! Your older teen can also become a swim instructor if they’re interested! It’s inside the LA FITNESS and they can’t put out signage, so if you have questions, just go inside or call! It’s worth it!

I took adult swim classes here, and couldn't be happier! The instructors are all amazing! Each instructor is overflowing with heart, patience, experience, and drive. It's like having a team of private coaches who personalize every lesson. Their attention and encouragement took me from swimming like a stone to completing multiple laps of various strokes. We love working with the instructors here. My youngest couldn't swim at all--was extremely afraid of the water--and they had him jumping in after just 6 classes (~1 1/2 mo). My older child loves water so they challenged her and she's doing swim moves even I can't do. I've been wanting to take swim lessons for a long time and was nervous to begin as an adult. I've had nothing but good experiences with the British Swim School in Cheltenham and especially recommend my teacher Esperanza. She's an incredible teacher that treats all of her students, regardless of age, with respect and positivity. She always works at your pace while pushing your comfort zone gently. If I'm not getting something, I know she'll come up with a different way to help it click the next week. I take classes in the evenings after work and sometimes I show up tired and frustrated from the day - but I always leave feeling like I have accomplished something. I think I've made a lot of progress from my first day and that's all thanks to Esperanza!

The teachers are friendly and do a good job at balancing time with classes sizes. The make up policy is generous and I've never struggled with finding a class that worked with my schedule. I highly recommend this school!

My daughter has been taking classes for a little over a month and although she still has reservations when in the water she is always excited to go. Esperanza, one of the instructors, has been great working with her. My daughter responded best to her of the instructors she has worked with. She takes the time to greet us whenever we walk in, she is very encouraging and knows how far to push my daughter when she is refusing to complete tasks.
Michael, who manages the program, has been great as well. He has been very accommodating, helpful, patient and responds quickly to my inquiries.
