Michelle’s classes are upbeat and quick-paced. Her Reformer Flow 1 classes are great for those who like to continue to build strength as a beginner. They may be a fun challenge for new students or new students may find the pace through her flow movements a bit fast for them to maintain a correct position. Her classes are always exploring new equipment and new muscles to tone and train— great for those who want to stay out of a rut and find new muscles to strengthen.

I’ve been a member for a year and am beyond disappointed. The instructors are great, but the staff are unprofessional and the sneaky policies are ridiculous.
- The system always lets me book a class that falls on the same day your monthly payment renews so I booked one. However because I cancelled my membership so no payment came through that day, that class was later cancelled, without any notification. As I talked to the manager she said“your membership was canceled as of today, so any classes scheduled for today or after have been canceled.”
- Arrived at the studio, was told I couldn’t attend unless I paid for that single class (lmao)
- I was ofc never aware of this rip-off term, no one sent me an email to tell me about it after I booked the class and the class was cancelled by the manager, MANUALLY, last minute.
- Repeated attempts to get answers were ignored.
This is unacceptable. Do not waste your time or money here. I was excited for my last day of Pilates but this disgusted the hell out of me.
Manager, don’t reiterate the term AGAIN in the comment with nonsense that solves 0 problem.

I signed up to attend an intro to Pilates class today. I was excited to check the place out after seeing an advertisement on jnstagram. Before commuting there. I called them to ask about parking and they did not answer. I decided to catch the bus because I was afraid of not finding parking. I arrived there only 2 minutes late after catching 2 buses. The front desk girl to turn me away and told me I’d have to reschedule. I received an email from club Pilates today in that email it said that they have a 5 minute grace period. So their staff discriminated against me and decided she was just not going to let me in despite their 5 minute grace policy. This is unacceptable. They are marketing themselves on instagram as this great place but their staff is biased and their customer service sucks.
Reply to business owner’s response: A 5 minute Grace policy means a person has 5 minutes to arrive before they are turned away. While I understand that no business wants to accept that their staff could be creating and supporting an environment that’s not inclusive, ignoring the effects and impact that this has by labeling it something else doesn’t help. She did not turn me away with any explanation, she was dismissive and unwelcoming. I found another Pilates place and I am taking classes there. I enjoy my classes and I’ve had a better experience.

Love the Shadyside studio! I split my time between Pittsburgh and Florida and Club Pilates has a plan that makes the transition seamless. Estelle, at the Shadyside studio, is an excellent instructor! Her routines are challenging but also logical and elegant. Her instructions are perfect. Highly recommend! And Brittany is becoming a fast favorite. I love her energy and creative routines. Time flies in her classes.

Great workouts, great teachers!!
But the staff has terrible people skills.
Don't ever ever get caught in construction traffic on your way to class. They have no empathy especially Annie and Stacey.
Apparently teachers can be late but not customers who pay money to be there.
The ceiling tiles are moldy and the sound system hasn't worked for months.

I’ve been coming here since the end of January and it’s honestly been such a great experience. All of the instructors— Alexandra, Estelle, Brittany, Michelle, and Sarah—bring their own unique energy and style, which keeps every class fresh and fun. They’re all super encouraging, knowledgeable, and really take the time to make sure you’re getting the most out of each workout. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my strength and flexibility since I started, and I actually look forward to every class. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a welcoming studio with amazing instructors! Stacey, the sale associate in the front is really nice and amazing too. Thanks CP!! :)

I’ve been going to the Shadyside Club Pilates studio for about a year and was a complete novice when I first arrived. I started on the recommendation of a pelvic floor PT and have found Pilates to be very helpful in that regard. I’ve also built general strength and balance that make my day-to-day activities easier. I find it easy to stick with and I enjoy the classes, which are challenging but not exhausting. You see a fair amount of diversity in age, fitness level, and body size at this studio which I appreciate; a welcoming space is a prerequisite for getting joy and benefit out of movement. I’ve had many good instructors at this studio; all are professional, some are exceptional. Brit, Alex, and Elyssa are my favorites; I truly look forward to every class they lead. I would recommend CP Shadyside to the Pilates-curious without reservation.

The instructors here are amazing but the business is run pretty unfairly. I lost my job and needed to cancel my membership after being a member for about 10 months. Someone who I was messaging back and forth with (who I presume to be the owner) said I still had to pay my monthly fee (about $260) because it was after their 30 day threshold. Only exceptions to the 30 days being if I became permanently disabled? I was told in my orientation that if there was some sort of extenuating circumstance such as job loss, illness, or city move that they would be understanding and waive the 30 day requirement but they refused to. Not to mention, there where legit emergency situations throughout my time here ie getting the flu, food poisoning, getting called in to work last minute all of which I got charged a bunch of fees for because I didn’t cancel my reservation 12 hours in advance. I understand having a cancellation window but at least make it 24 hours before charging people $15 per missed class. I would recommend this place if you like getting charged a bunch of fees or enjoy fighting in a que to book a class. Again, instructors are phenomenal but the way they run it makes it irredeemable. For a place that promotes itself as a wellness studio it is certainly very stingy and inflexible. Way way way over priced for what it offers

Today I went for a follow-up doctor's appointment at Mercy Hospital. Long story short: I was informed that I needed to have a surgical spinal epidural. Not planned, but also important for pain management. Of course, because why not, I had scheduled my first Pilates class for today 3-4. Unfortunately, because of this completely unplanned procedure, I now can't make my Pilates class (and I am now outside of the 12 hour cancellation window).
I reached out to the front desk with an image of my discharge instructions that clearly state I cannot participate in any activity today. I was informed by Club Pilates that a signed doctor's note would be required to avoid penalization. Here's my issue: yes, I understand policy. I totally support honoring policy in *most* instances. That said, when I signed up, the two sales associates who gave their "buy a membership" pitch stressed that Club Pilates Shadyside works with members/cancellation should something unexpected come up. Well, something unexpected has come up. I understand that Club Pilates requires a doctor's note. I also understand that getting a signed doctor's note from UMPC Mercy Hospital excusing me from Pilates is going to take time. .
The kicker: I have discharge paperwork (dated), hospital visit information., my admission band, etc. supporting my request. No, it's not a signed doctor's note - it's discharge paperwork from UPMC that clearly details I can't do anything physical for the next 24 hours - including driving. Asking for a note is not the first thing on your mind when you're getting a needle shoved up your spinal canal. I don't know why anyone would fake a surgical spinal epidural and/or discharge paperwork to get out of a pilates class.
I understand needing to enforce policies - that said, I'm genuinely shocked by the exchange I just had with the front desk. I was told that my issue would be sent to the Shadyside Club Pilates manager. When I asked for the manager's contact info (truly so I could follow up and detail what happened), I was informed that information "was not given out". Sigh. It's been a really disappointing start. I'm not a "Karen". I am actually a certified Pilates instructor who has worked in multiple studios - I get it, I know the struggles and I know why policies exist. I also know that there are instances where grace can be extended. I am not here to take advantage of the system. I am, though, looking for SOME grace around a last minute, unplanned procedure that comes with accompanying paperwork from the hospital.

Everything about the studio is fantastic, and I truly loved all the instructors. However, one downside of Club Pilates is the strict cancellation policy. If you don’t cancel a class at least 12 hours in advance, you’ll be charged a fee, regardless of the circumstances—even in cases beyond your control, such as illness, emergencies, or bad weather. If you’re considering signing up for classes, it’s important to keep this policy in mind.

This location offers 10 classes pack, which is more flexible than other Club Pilates locations’ mandatory membership requirements, and I’ve been using that to suit my busy schedule.Instructors varies on how much instruction they gave you, and probably not the best way to start doing Pilates without enough ques but pure cheerleading. The other struggle was hard to find a time to communicate with instructor about personal need and adjustment, both before and after class. Maybe private classes would be a better choice, but for group classes, it’s not a location I would like to continue to go.

My daughter was a member of Club Pilates this Fall. She is a college student. Before coming home for winter break, she froze her membership. Long story short, she had some health issues over her winter break and never got in touch with Club Pilates - because she had more major things going on in her life - to unfreeze her membership or cancel her account 30 days in advance (their policy). Well, we spoke with them and now have two months of charges that they absolutely won't refund, even though she hasn't been there nor can she return at the moment. You would think that, if they wanted to retain her as a customer, they might have worked with us on this, but instead, the response was basically "too bad." Extremely disappointed, and she obviously won't be returning to this place. Careful becoming a member!
To respond to the below message from Club Pilates... you are lying. No one offered to allow her to take classes "at a later date." They said she could still use the month that we paid for (obviously! We PAID FOR IT). All I was saying above is that, given the situation, you could have worked with us or given a credit for her to take classes at a later date.

I've been going to Club Pilates Shadyside for 4 months now and I'm really loving the classes and overall experience! I first got the 10 pack of classes to get a feel for reformer pilates. It was great to not have to commit to a monthly membership, although because I loved it so much I did sign up for the 4 class/month membership!
I've gone to classes with multiple instructors and love how each has their own different style. They always have new flows, and the class plans are never the same. It's a fantastic workout and you really feel the burn. I love that there are difficulty levels of classes; I started off at level 1 and was able to progress to level 2. The instructors pay attention to make sure you are doing the moves safely and effectively.

I’m hooked! My friend has been taking classes for almost two months now. I saw her amazing weight loss progress and said “I want that!”.
I just had my third class today (fourth if you count the intro) and the instructor, Elyssa gave me all the bang for my buck! As someone who is new to Pilates, she explained how to perform each workout so well and provided much encouragement. I left her class feeling refreshed and accomplished before heading into work.
The other instructors I had so far have been wonderful too. Everyone is so friendly and I’m so glad I made the choice to join. Your first class is to familiarize you with terminology, the equipment, and how to join.

First class is for free but you are required to bring pilate socks (the price of the socks ranges from $16-$26 here), you are also required to sign a disclaimer, and put your credit card, address, name, email on file. I was not informed to bring pilate socks ahead of time so I have to buy one on the spot. I don’t think it’s part of their process to inform newly joined customer about bringing Pilates socks so I will leave a comment here in case anyone else need this information.
The first free class I joined is like 10 mins warm up, 10 mins actual class and 10 mins info about how to join. The instructor seems professional and the equipment is new. You get try out the equipment but I won’t count it as a workout session.
