Over all I think the gym equipment needs to be upgraded. I’ve been to other locations with better equipment and cleaner. The front desk staff is quite unprofessional. We love the swimming class for our toddler at the YMCA! She has so much fun every time and looks forward to it every week. The instructors are so kind and patient with the children. It’s been a wonderful experience watching her grow more confident in the water while having such a great time.

This was my fourth time coming I normally try to leave my phone when I go to work out however when I arrived to give them my name the young lady told me she couldn't look me up . I was surprised I told her again it's a way to log she then repeats herself and stays download the app in order to log in caught by surprised I asked the other young lady sitting at the desk instead she also recommended that I downloaded the app I told them my phone was dead and they said the same thing in response of me informing them I use the last bit of my battery to download an app I took a look around a high staff member was aware but was sitting down the entire time they demands I downloaded the app or I cannot access the gym

Unfortunately this place has declined a lot. There use to be nice staff there but now most of the staff is rude, mean, and unhelpful. The front desk is absolutely dreadful, children run freely, young people smoke in the front of the building and Kidzone is ran by a bunch of staff who are glued to their phones and don’t want to interact with the children. Don’t trust these people with your kids…they don’t even want to pick up a baby!

This summer was my grandson’s first year at an actual summer camp. I fell in love with this place and so did he even making friends outside of summer camp he also takes swimming lessons there and the swimming staff is amazing.. it’s always clean. And they are always willing to answer any questions that you make have. I have been to other ymca outside of the city and I live 5 minutes away from a ymca but this is my home ymca get jobs guys!! I love this branch of the Y. The pool is one of the best I’ve visited - really well maintained with friendly guards (and a sauna!!) The studios are clean and bright with enough space for everyone. Erika’s yoga classes and Alicia’s Zumba classes are my absolute favorites - all of the instructors I have met are extremely kind, patient, creative, and encouraging. The support and love from other members is really special and keeps me coming back (even at 7am before work!). Thanks for providing this service and space for us.

BEWARE OF SUMMER CAMP!! My 12 year old was enrolled for summer camp and came home with many sad stories and videos on how this camp is run! Most children are here from 8am-6pm IMAGINE being in place for 10 hours completely bored and unsupervised. Children are taken to the gym, given balls and told to play.There is no structure, nothing is pre-planned and staff are just winging it the whole day.Children are forced from room to room(for no activities) while carrying the backpacks the entire day. Art consists of paper markers,crayons, and slime making, again no instruction causing children to lash out,cry, or fight each other out of boredom. Staff are all kind but immature and under-trained. Children often hear inappropriate conversation as most staff openly show interest in each other and are told inappropriate things like "Hit them back" or "Shut up and stop crying". Staff are glued to their phone all day and blast music (again inappropriate) throughout the entire day to keep themselves and students motivated. For outdoor play, staff cross broad st with children often missing the countdown light and hoping the PHILLY drivers will wait until all children are crossed...no protocol! Once students get across, staff allow the children to play in a grass area outside of another random building to do what??? JUST PLAY! Again no direction, nothing planned, no chairs or shade for the children so they are forced to sit on the ground.Lunch is horrible and no snack time in place so children are often hungry causing more mental break downs.But not all is lost at least the children swim 45 mins 3xs a week.

Nice Y. Pool was clean and good for swimming. Many camp kids but well behaved and camp did not interfere with lap lanes.
My husband used the gym and felt it needed some equipment updating. Probably the pool as well compared to the Y I go in the DC area.
But everyone was very nice and helpful and it was great to be able to use for free as part of the Y nationwide program.
I’ll go again when in Philly.

Most disgusting pool! Dead termites floating in the pool! Pool is disgustingly cloudy. Informed the arrogant manager on 6/22/24, Anthony, and he could care less. This pool should be shut down ASAP! I’ve been here for about a month. I mostly only go for dance related classes. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the classes are fun. Some days they’re challenging enough to give me a good sweat but other days when I get a class with mostly older ppl, it’s not enough for me. And I understand needing to slow it down. I kinda wish there could be different levels of intensity classes tho. The pool is huge and they have a sauna. I dislike a couple things tho. There’s no designated open floor in the wellness center to do floor workouts or weights without feeling you’re in someone’s way. Especially when it’s crowded. Most ppl just find a random space around all the machines. It feels unsafe. Also theres often times when the instructors for classes are late. Or classes are cancelled without any warning. Or they come on time but their speakers aren’t set up and they need to find one and that delays the class. I understand being late every now and then but I think 75% of my classes have ran late. And frankly I think they should get there early enough to have their class set up and ready to start as soon as the class is scheduled to start. But the biggest annoyance I have is the cancelled classes without warning. I know they can make a class cancelled online cause I see some. But twice I’ve come and they canceled the class without warning online and no warning on location. Maybe even a sign board that says which classes have been canceled for the day in the front will help. It just feels like I wasted my time coming out. Cause I only enjoy the classes

Have to edit my review, because who is directing this place??? I signed my child up for one on one swim lessons. When I paid, they told me there’s no refunds. Ok. They also said no one was available at the moment to give them, but someone would call me when there was an instructor available. Never heard back, and that was TWO SUMMERS AGO!! Since then, I’ve called numerous times, and told someone would call me. No one called. Recently I went while the new swim director was there and she told me there’s no record of my payment because it was so long ago, and the director of the Y told her they’d offer me half off of lessons I already paid for. Who’s the director of the Y?! I wouldn’t know because they still haven’t gotten back to me!! She won’t call me because she wants me to pay again for something already paid for with no refunds allowed.

I also signed my child up for gymnastics and basketball, Against my better judgement.. I got a call yesterday two hours before class to let me know there’s no instructor available, and class is canceled. Ok. I take my child for basketball today, and they canceled it, without calling any of the parents, or even the instructor himself.
Whoever is running this place (I wouldn’t know because they still haven’t gotten back to me about the paid for in advance swim lessons they refuse to give) should be ashamed of the lack of organization and being so unprofessional!!! Don’t waste your time or money at this place. I’m about to sign up at the Germantown life enrichment center instead. Maybe then my daughter can actually learn how to swim instead of waiting two whole years.

I love the YMCA my son enjoy's the different sports and the instructor's are really patient with him witch i appreciate. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I haven't been going for a couple of months once my 5 year old was in the child care section and the young lady that was watching him told him to stop coloring but another little kid was coloring and I heard him crying and upset while I was in the gym and I don't think its fair to young children that some are able to do things and other aren't i think they should be all be doing the same thing so no one feels left out.

Their daycare program is horrible. My nephew is autistic. They don’t know how to deal with it. They come up with things he supposedly did to other kids but has never done at home to his own brother. My nephew can not verbally say this kid did this to me or took that from me. They aren’t very attentive to him at all. They don’t have cameras to prove anything, but they make up a paper trail on autistic kids to get them removed because they don’t want to deal with their behavior. They gave him 2 write up’s in one week. I would never send a child here. My nephew has never choked anyone or tried to body slam anyone. They know he can’t defend himself with his words like the average kid. He can’t say what happened. Will he hit sometimes? yes like every other kid because they are KIDS. He was supposed to moved to the 4 year old room in September but because they do what they want he was moved in June. They said they had more enrollment, not sure what that has to do with my nephew. Most of these 4 or 5 stars doesn’t have anything to do with the daycare. Kids deserve to be safe and treated with care. They don’t have the patience or the training. DON’T SEND YOUR CHILDREN!

I don't know how this place has good reviews. Before even walking through the front door there were people smoking 🍃 outside. The woman at front desk looked at us as if we were bothering her when we asked about checking in since it was our first time. The life guard must not be getting paid enough because she couldn't give accurate information about the pool schedule. Don't even get me started about the obnoxious blaring trap music in the gym. HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE SUPPLIES FOR PEOPLE TO WIPE DOWN GYM EQUIPMENT AFTER USE??? Highly recommend going to another Y if you have the ability to travel.

I live around the corner wanted to check this place out because previously they had came into mh station to try to get members of the fire department to sign up however I was out on a call while they spoke to the guys on the engine at mh spot. So I call just got off the phone with them. I inquire about coming in checking it out you know scheduling a tour something. And literally got nothing. Straight rushed me off the phone apparently the only way to come check it out is to become a member. SMH. Easiest thing to do when you’re working is just to be nice. I use to like this facility, mostly for the swimming pool, but it has changed. I took my son swimming today, their pool schedule changed and my son who has Autism, was not allowed to go swimming, in fact he was rudely stared at and stopped from entering the swimming pool. I would really appreciate it, if more places (businesses of all kinds) would be more accepting and understanding of adults with special needs or disabilities.
