Small space in downtown Narberth but has everything you need and Kevin is outstanding. I have been impressed with the attention each client receives and the versatility of the workouts. I started with Kevin about a month ago. The small group class programs are great and I feel stronger already. Very positive and supportive gym. The approach is personalized so that you can work at your own pace and also keep in mind any limitations while still working out with other people. DEA Strength Training is an excellent class to increase body strength at virtually any level. Kev is very knowledgeable and creative with how he puts together an hour of varying exercises that focus on different muscle groups as well as agility. Classes are small (capped at 8 people) and Kev is closely supervising. If you are looking to add more strength without building massive bulk (and getting a good workout in the process) this is the place for you.

Kevin @ DEA strength is an awesome coach. DEA is not your typical generic HIIT training gym. Every four weeks Kevin prints a new program with 4-5 variations per exercise. Every participant gets their own customized version with suggestions/tweaks/weights. Everything is adjusted based off of your performance in past classes.

Real programs, real periodization, real progression, real customization, but approachable for folks of any skill level!

I am very happy with the group fitness classes and Kevin's wonderful coaching. Don't sleep on DEA!

I started training with Kevin at DEA about 6 months ago, having never really done any live instructor lead classes before (and finding it harder and harder to do any training on my own as I got older). I started off with some initial 1:1 training and soon transitioned to small group training. It's really been a great experience. I feel physically better than I have in a long time, stronger and with improvement with some chronic issues I've had for a while (including some chronic neck and back stiffness/pain). Kevin does a great job handling clients with a wide range of experience & ability and keeps the workouts fresh and interesting. I 100% would recommend DEA to anyone either looking to get started with strength training or more experienced individuals looking for a new gym.

I’ve been going to DEA for 9 months and am very pleased with the program. I have osteoporosis in the spine and hip so strength training is important. The class size is small and personalized to each persons needs. Kevin changes up the exercise program, by week, so it’s not boring. I've been coming to Kevin's for about 3 months now. I have really appreciated the personal touch of a tailored plan and the attention to form that he brings to the training sessions. As someone with low back issues (DDD and disc herniation), I have definitely felt stronger overall + my core strength and more capable of playing with my kids without fear of injury. The use of full body workouts with kettlebell weights definitely provides a cardio workout! This is a great environment where the focus is on health and proper technique than it is on being a muscle head. He also has recommendations on # of times a week and intensity, which I have appreciated. His plans really allow for flexibility with schedules and costs. Love it here!

Burn fat, get stronger. If these are your main fitness goals, DEA Strength Training is the place to be. Kevin is an incredible trainer and will fine tune a training program for your specific needs. Whether it's fat loss, mobility issues (shoulder, back, knee, etc.), wanting to gain strength or any other specific needs, this gym has the equipment and personnel required to do so. I was at my lowest weight/fat % and strongest I've ever been/felt when working out with Kev at DEA Strength. I love the small group training and having other patrons there is great because they are fantastic motivators. Aside from the extensive knowledge on fitness training, Kevin also has great recommendations for other specialists (physical therapists, etc.). It is all about YOU at DEA Strength. Over my time there we worked on increasing my strength & endurance while protecting my middle aged joints. We addressed lifestyle, diet and fitness goals outside the gym. DEA strenght training is a great training experience. I started out wondering if this is where I belong and wondered if the workouts were for me as I’m a little older. Coach Kevin was reassuring and patient getting me comfortable with the workouts and was great at customizing workouts tailored to my fitness level. LOVE THIS PLACE!! I cant say enough great this about DEA. I was athletic when i was younger and had been out of the gym for years on and off. i was nervous to start and especially in front of people. Kevin is the best, he is patient and encouraging, he tailors the class so you can make it as hard or easy for yourself as you want. He listens and will work on specific things with you even in small group class. I had surgery last year and did not want to lose my momentum and he altered my class workout specific to me while i was recovering. Unrelated to the workout, he also attracts a really great clientele, classes are small (8-10 pple max i think) and everyone i have met here has been super friendly and a few even turned into friends outside of class. I also did a few of his private training so i could have some classes on my own time schedule due to work and it was great. I even brought my friend that was staying with me a few times and he let her join in no issues and she loved it too. Definitely give this place a try.

I have always been a runner. I enjoyed the time outside and with myself. After kids, it was my sacred place. Then my knees decided that was no longer an option. I tried other ways to keep myself in shape physically and mentally but nothing really matched my love for running. My friend recommended that I give strength training a try. My first thought was the old commercial with the thick-necked guy “I pick things up and put them down”. Not my speed. With a few more gentle nudges she got me to meet with Kevin and “just see what it is all about”. I didn’t go into it with an open mind, I will admit. Kevin met me right where I was at. We chatted about why I was looking into strength training, allayed my fears about further injuries, and came up with a plan to just give it a try. I joined the small group sessions terrified of what the others might think of me having never done much weight training. It was all nonsense. Literally everyone I have ever met at DEA has been so welcoming, helpful, and non-judgemental. Kevin has set up a community of people who train with their own personally tailored program and goals; never thinking about where others are in their journey. You move at your pace - increasing weights, trying new exercises, modifying for injuries. Kevin explains every exercise every time so you never feel weird asking him to show you again. He is encouraging without pushing you too hard - he told me once “you are stronger than what you are doing but move up when you feel ready”. And although Kevin himself picks up a lot of heavy things and puts them back down (and now makes me do it too), he has never been less than helpful, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I am now much stronger for it and miss when I can’t make a class. You won’t regret giving it a try.

Full honesty - I never thought I would love a strength training gym. Didn’t think it was my thing. I had to be practically dragged by a friend during a free trial. BUT here I am 4 years, one pandemic and one new location later, and it’s one of the best parts of my week. Kevin meets you where you are, whether you’re starting out on the lightest weights (like I was) or already a pro. He makes you feel capable and guides you to get stronger, even working with you if you need to adjust for an injury, etc. Possibly even more important is the community. The people who work out at DEA are funny and fun and kind and I’m so lucky to have gym friends that became real friends.
