While visiting family in nearby Gladwyne was able to sneak over, meet the owner, and enjoy a great hot yoga 26+2 class with Chris Fluck. Like all great teachers, he provides pearls on every pose and made the visit very worthwhile!

Really disappointed but will try again.
Signed up for a hot vinyasa class - I am not new to yoga. I was very excited walking in as the studio is beautiful. However, our “vinyasa” instructor said we were going to be having a more “restorative” class (which was fine) but we spent an hour on our mats barely moving. This should’ve been marketed as a yin yoga class, not vinyasa. There was no flow at all. The teacher did not seem like she had been teaching for long. I understand if they were new to teaching, but this should’ve been communicated to people taking the class. I will be coming back but definitely will be taking a class with a different instructor.

Focus is the real deal. The space, and people who fill it, are the best of the best and it sets an ideal tone for your practice. The hot room is badass and the variety of classes hits the mark each time.
What truly sets this studio apart, though, is the incredible sense of community, joy and care. The instructors are quite literally the best I've ever had, and I've been a consistent student across the country, including in other major cities. Every time I practiced there, I left feeling grounded, rejuvenated, and connected—not just to my own body, but to the amazing people in that space.
If you’re lucky enough to live near Focus, don’t take it for granted—drop in, say hello, and take a moment to really appreciate the community and peace this studio offers. It's a truly special place, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Stumbling along this hidden gem a yr ago took me into my 40s the proper way.
The instructors are incredible throughout all classes I’ve taken. Never knew what Yoga, let alone Hot yoga was until Focus.
Great people, made many friends, accommodations like the showers are so great and much needed after these classes.
Personally taken almost every class offered and have never been disappointed.
Love the place

I was excited to try Focus while home for the holidays, especially since they just started offering hot Pilates classes. I signed up for their 19-day trial for $19, thinking it was a great deal. Unfortunately, my experience was far from positive due to their sneaky business practices and an unpleasant class environment.
Upon signing up in person, I told the front desk staff that I was only visiting for the holidays and didn’t live in the Bryn Mawr area permanently. I even mentioned that I didn’t want to be charged for a membership. At no point did the staff warn me about their "contract" or that I needed to be cautious about an automatic $119 membership charge after the trial. I just noticed a charge for $119 on my account, and when I reached out to them, they refused to refund me, citing the contract I had “signed.” I feel misled, as this was not made clear during registration, and now I’m stuck paying for a membership I can’t even use since I don’t live in the area.
To make matters worse, my first class was extremely uncomfortable because of a rude interaction with another student. The instructor told me to place my mat wherever I wanted, as there were no mat markers, and the room was huge with only about 10 students. I placed my mat in the middle of the room, minding my own business and stretching, when a woman and her friend came in and went to the very front row. The woman glared at me and, instead of simply moving to another spot in the spacious room, decided to confront me. She said, “Are you just TRYING to be above the heat lamp?” in the most condescending tone. I looked up, noticed I was directly above the heat lamp, and was confused by her tone but went on to tell her no. She then went on to show off and try and go on a power rant to say "oh well its just that you aren't in line with anyone else. you're in an inconvenient spot". She was clearly just trying to go right in front of my mat to prove a point that I wasn't in line with other students mats, but the instructor specifically told me to feel free to put my mat anywhere. I said, "ok... do you want me to move...?" and she was like "I mean like yeah, if you look around, people are all in one line in the back row, middle row, or front row." Finally the instructor said "guys its' ok we can all move over to fit". but the room was HUGE to begin with? the whole situation was unnecessary and petty. if you're the rude girl who took hot pilates on December 11th, 2024, I hope your 15 second power trip in front of 9 other students in a suburban yoga studio was worth it :)
Alls that to say is - Focus Bryn Mawr has left a bad taste in my mouth, both for its sneaky billing practices and the toxic environment I experienced in class.

I practiced for a long time at the studio at 15th & Samson, and took many of Joel Pier and Sandy Robin's classes.
I took a class taught by Neil Perry at Focus, and heard in his dialogue Joel and Sandy's teachings. It really brought me back. Neil is a real gem!

Bryn Mawr Focus Yoga was Love at First Sight for me, over more than 1.5 years, but not just an infatuation. It is a love that has continuously grown as I recovered from one surgery after the other, coming back into a warm and accepting atmosphere. Andy is as warm as Tico is constant. They have created and maintained a studio with an old fashioned sense of connection, as well as a genuine concern for others, while providing a highly competent staff of instructors. To be part of Focus, is to have struck gold.

LOVE this place and these people! Morning, daytime, evening and week-end classes are available to accommodate everyone. That was especially important to me, because I like to attend a 90 minute Bikram class, every single day and my schedule is very rocky! I find all of the instructors Chalise, Justin, Alana, Chris, Neil, accomplished, attentive and so approachable. I use modifications, because I have joint replacements and shoulder cuff surgeries.
All of the staff are open and friendly .
One of the co-ownwers, Andy, has asked the Focus community, to take walks with me, when I could not take classes and was healing. He expressed his warm wishes for me to heal and come back, because I had shoulder surgery. The community engaged, chimed in and have really helped out! Focus is inclusive in every way and members bring their children, as well as their parents. I feel very blessed to have connected with Focus Bryn Mawr!

Focus Bryn Mawr has exceeded any expectation I may have held about what joining a yoga studio would be! This past spring, I limped into yoga unable to stand or walk without pain for over two years. (Rothman Institute had just informed me that there was nothing that could be done for my pain except injections and back surgery.) Now, less than six months later, that situation has been completely rectified! I can work and walk and enjoy my life with only a memory of the pain that I endured all that time! This has truly been a miracle and a gift from God. Not only has a yoga healed me, but I love the calmness I gain from practicing, and that my jeans fit :-).
On top of all that, these guys throw killer parties! I get to hang out with people I normally sweat with, at events that feel a lot like a cool art-party/happening in Greenwich Village. Thanks for the ❤️ Focus Bryn Mawr! - Monika Lee

My wife and I just finished four consecutive days of Yoga at Focus Bryn Mawr and we are DELIGHTED! Let me explain.
After a nearly three year hiatus of in-person classes (thanks, Covid), the owner and staff of Hummingbird Yoga re-landed at Focus in Bryn Mawr this week. We jumped on the opportunity and took classes with Linda (Hummingbird's owner), Maureen and Noelle (twice). I have done Yoga for 11 years, Lindsey for 15 years, and these are some of the best instructors we have ever had.
With a small storefront opening just off Lancaster Avenue, Focus is like the Tardis from Dr Who - it looks tiny on the outside but is HUGE inside! Decor is minimalist and calming. The desk staff was warm and helpful. We have only been in Studio A so far (Studio B is for Bikram/Hot Yoga), which is large, with double-height ceilings, well controlled heating, lighting and sound systems and SPOTLESS. In addition, there are separate Men's and Women's changing rooms with coat hooks, lockers, showers and bathrooms - all handicapped accessible. Also spotless.
We are taking advantage of Focus' New Member Special, one month of unlimited access for only $65. Don't miss it!

I am so happy to see another studio open their doors in this location. I’ve only taken two classes and left feeling great. I normally don’t love hot yoga but I found the heat oddly nice… it’s like I could easily breathe? Not sure how to describe it.
I would say what’s different about this studio is the local feel. It’s not a chain. It’s not a corporation that encourages teaches to follow a script. These are instructors that truly love the practice and want to share it.
Long story short, come try out this studio and support local business. Help keep bryn mawr interesting! 👽
(Unrelated - I missed the promo you guys were running. Maybe you can do another for the new year?)

TRX class - A waste of time and money!! The girl at the front desk was unwelcoming even though I told her it was my first time.
I was the younger person there. If I had known it was going to be me and 2 couples over 55, with an instructor who spent the hour sitting down, yawning or chatting outside of the studio, I would have stayed in bed!!! Abby kept calling me by the wrong name. When I was struggling with a move she did not offer any help! She was not engaging and i had to figure it out. The music was old school.
The two couples were basically choosing the exercises while Abby was talking endlessly about the weather. No warm up before we started and no stretching at the end.
The mat I was using was soaked and smelled like vinegar - gross!!
