This is a great gym. Coach Mike creates a welcoming and very beginner friendly environment but still always challenges his students and gets the best out of them. Training here helped me get in better shape and build my confidence.

From the moment you walk in, you can feel the energy and dedication in the space. Coach Mike is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and hands-on—whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced fighter, theres a lot to get out of training. The training is authentic, challenging, and rooted in real Muay Thai technique, not just cardio kickboxing.

What really sets Heavy Hitter apart is the community. It’s welcoming, humble, and supportive. You’ll sweat hard, learn a lot, and leave every session better than you walked in—not just physically, but mentally too.

If you're serious about learning Thai boxing in a motivating environment, Heavy Hitters is the place to be. I can’t recommend it enough.

This is the best Muay Thai gym in Philly. Coach Mike is awesome and makes it easy for anyone to feel comfortable joining. Whether you're there to train for competition or just to get healthy in a fun way, he easily accommodates for all.

If you've always been curious about trying Muay Thai but are nervous about sparring and getting hit, you can come to the fundamentals class where you can learn the basics and just hit pads, if you're a little more advanced there are intermediate class for both drilling and clinching, and even advanced classes and fight training.

Whatever level you're at, Coach Mike harbors an environment to make everyone feel comfortable when they walk through the door and making sure anyone leaves any toxic BS at home. He's super nice and patient and great a getting you to push your limits to get you into the best shape of your life. Everyone on the team is really great and were really awesome at helping you learn and get better even if they were more advanced.

All in all, an amazing gym and if you've ever been curious to start training, this is the place to do it.

I can't recommend Heavy Hitters enough. If you are a seasoned Muay Thai fighter or want to start, Coach Mike creates an inclusive family-style environment for all levels to learn and have fun. My only advice is to not wait to join, jump in and start as soon as you can, you will not find a better gym or coach than Heavy Hitters and Coach Mike!

Heavy Hitters is seriously the best Muay Thai gym ever. Great atmosphere. Very accessible to all levels. The other members are really nice and helpful, which was very helpful for a newbie like me. Coach Mike is very knowledgeable, methodical, and really knows how to teach. He also has the patience of a saint. I am a klutz, and he had to tell me to watch certain movements or teach me to kick in a particular way over and over again, yet I have never felt any frustration from him at any time. Every time he taught me something, he taught it with the same energy as this was the first time.

Tldr; If you want to learn Muay Thai with good technique, you will never find a better place than Heavy Hitters!

Joining Heavy Hitters has easily been one of the best decisions I’ve made. As a complete beginner, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the environment here is so welcoming, supportive, and motivating. The coaches are top-notch across the board, and Coach Mike in particular has been a huge part of my progress. He does an incredible job of breaking things down in a way that’s easy to understand, and his energy and encouragement always push you to do your best. After just a few months, I feel stronger, more confident, and excited to keep improving. Whether you’re new to Muay Thai or looking to take your training to the next level, I can’t recommend Heavy Hitters enough.

I checked out a few gyms before landing at Heavy Hitters, and it’s been the best by far. Coach Mike and all the members are incredibly friendly and supportive, always looking out for one another. Since starting a couple of months ago, I’ve lost 20 pounds, learned valuable skills and made some great friends along the way.

Coach Mike has an amazing eye for detail and consistently knows the exact adjustments I need to make to fine-tune my technique. An awesome gym that's great for newbies, like me, and serious fighters. Coach Mike is super welcoming and approachable, but will also help to push you to your limits to improve your technique and your strength. Everyone in class is always easy to get along with. They are really helpful and understanding of newcomers who are still figuring it out. A lot of gyms have toxic or strange vibes, but Heavy Hitters always feels like a safe place. Highly recommend!

I had my first class last night and am looking forward to a full time membership. The owner Mike was so nice and welcoming. He assured me to take my time and just do my best. Toni was amazing to work with very patient and knowledgeable with me being new, she was showing me the basics. It was a very fun class, I got a great work in and am looking forward to a learning this new skill. It’s very clean and had a good playlist to work out too. I was nervous to start back up this health journey but now I’m excited to be apart of this gym.

My 5 year old son has been going to Heavy Hitters for the last 6 months. Can't say enough about Coach Mike and Toni. The class is small, so very personal coaching, and the other families and kids in class are fantastic. George loves the class as it's very interactive and it's teaching him the fundamentals of Muay Thai. The space is clean, they've got great equipment and it's very well organized. They really do a fantastic job and I'd recommend Heavy Hitters to anyone. Do yourself a favor and visit them.

I don’t take classes there I just clean there and observe the student learning and performing muy Thai. and I always joke and say I would never want to meet any of the students in a dark alley !! Cause the average everyday person would knock anyone out, with one clean punch ! They get busy for sure and it high contact . This gym is for real and teaches people how to fight for real

Awesome gym and culture. Coach Mike is a solid instructor that actually cares and takes his time to provide the right level of guidance at every level. His experienced eyes pick up on things you may have missed for years, and helps get you on the right path. My 7 year old daughter also trains here, and I can’t say enough good things about the youth class. Her courage and confidence has noticeably grown and she is truly embracing the tenants of patience, hard work and discipline. 5 stars all the way!

Great environment and instruction! The training programs are well designed prepared each week with special attention to various Thai boxing techniques. As someone who has trained martial arts before, I appreciated getting to sharpen some of the techniques I have learned as well as learn new ones that I haven't practiced. Overall high-level instruction and training for whatever learning stage you are at.

After looking around Philly for a high-quality, welcoming, and judgement-free gym where I could not only shake off the cobwebs but also get a great workout, I happened upon Heavy Hitters and I was not disappointed. Coach Mike runs a wonderful program that draws like minded people with all different experience levels to improve themselves and learn the beautiful art of Muay Thai. His coaching style will push you to meet his high expectations but also support you along the way. If I wasn’t moving across the country I would definitely make Heavy Hitters my long time home.

I signed up to try something new but ended up cancelling as I discovered that Muay Thai isn't my cup of tea.

That being said I thought the quality of instruction and facility were great. The other students were great too I think that Heavy Hitters does a good job instilling a cooperative culture and the team is really passionate about Muay Thai. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in Muay Thai.

Heavy Hitters is a great Muay Thai gym! Coach Mike is very knowledgeable, takes time to explain the mechanics of moves, and makes sure that good techniques are instilled from the beginning. The gym goers have varying levels of experience and are friendly. They have fundamentals classes all the way to advanced ones, with open mats on some weekends and weights for strength training. It's an awesome gym for anyone wanting to train and get a good workout!

Coach Mike is literally the nicest human being. The gym is regularly cleaned and classes are daily, mostly in the evenings. Classes are designated each week by specific muay thai techniques and principles. Students are usually paired up and practice moves on each other via pads in the fundamentals classes. Location is convenient with street parking available. Located in a safe neighborhood next to a large community park.

I love training here! Coach Mike and the other coaches have created a space where we train hard but still have fun. Every skill level is welcomed and encouraged. The discipline involved in training Muay Thai will bring your fitness level to new heights. Come one, come all but, as Coach Mike says, just don’t be an a$$hole!

First rate Muay Thai gym. Highly recommended for all experience levels. Great instructors with tons of martial arts experience. What I really love about the place is the flexibility to really tailor your training to match your needs and availability.

Morning classes, afternoon class, and a ton of evening options gives you plenty of opportunities to put together the perfect schedule. They also provide Multiple training levels. Whether you're looking for some contact sparring, or just looking to drill technique on the pads these guys have you covered. The multiple training levels also provides a great progression system for anyone who might be interested in sparring, but doesn't fancy jumping in feet first.

The last thing to point out is the importance placed on teaching proper technique and good habits. A solid workout is usually a giving with any type of martial arts class, but at heavy hitters I'm happy to say there's a solid focus on helping you work towards good technique and understanding without it ever feeling imposing or intimidating.

Highly, highly recommend for existing practitioners and newcomers alike.

Heavy Hitters was my first experience with Muay Thai, and I was welcomed into their gym. The members seem very close, like a family, and they made me feel very comfortable. I had heard that Muay Thai training tends to create close bonds, and this is certainly the case at Heavy Hitters. the owner and coach, Michael Rakay, is passionate about Muay Thai, and loves to answer questions and help his students improve. I definitely recommend training here.

I was looking for a Muay Thai gym after going to a BJJ gym with a Muay Thai program and was fortunate that a friend told me about HH. I had only been practicing for about a year but felt like I had plateaued. After dropping into 3 different classes, I was significantly better due to Coach Mike's keen eye for good form and meticulous coaching. That experience convinced me to make the shift to join HH and I'm so glad that I have. The coaching is incredible, the community is inviting and challenging, and I don't think I could see myself anywhere else.

Awesome gym for both beginners and experienced Muay Thai students alike. I had roughly two years experience coming to Heavy Hitters. I never knew I had some bad habit techniques until working with coach Mike. Within weeks of drill and adjustments, I made noticable improvements in technique and power. Coach Mike is the owner as well as the head coach of the gym and takes great care and pride teaching his students.I highly recommend this gym and it's crew of students if your looking to have fun and learn real Muay Thai.

I've known Mike for a few years now and first met him as an instructor at a previous Muay Thai gym. I was excited to hear when he started his own gym, he's a talented, former Muay Thai fighter that excels at transferring in-ring experience to the mats where students learn through hands on, step-by-step instruction. Whether your looking to be the next striking athlete or just someone wanting to learn some proper technique and acquire physical exercise, Heavy Hitters is the place to be. The clientele isn't even clientele, it becomes more like a family so if you like making new friends and helping each other learn together, I suggest you drop by for a visit.
