It's a mid range gym. I pay $35 a month plus biannual maintenance fees (Its either $25 or $50 at a time, can't remember). If you just want cardio go to planet fitness but they have a ton of weight lifting equipment and plenty of cardio as well. It gets busy but there aren't many gyms these days that don't. My main complaints are the same every gym I've been to has - equipment is sometimes down for maintenance for ages, you might need to try two or three cardio machines before hitting one that works right,ect. Oh and they are once again reserving a section purely for personal training clients. A section that has equipment that doesn't exist elsewhere in the gym. Instead of using one of the several studios they have.

If you want amenities they have a pool. Both an Olympic swimming pool with lanes and more of a Jacuzzi type one. There are also at least 3 racket ball courts and a basket ball court. One room is being converted for Pilates and there are two other rooms I believe for classes. Big locker rooms too.

My brother was a member here and couldn't come here as often due to his job, come to us in shock, there was an annual fee, which your employee (i believe his name was Lavar) completely failed to mention!! I spoke with some of my friends who went there and it seemed to be a common occurrence when it comes to this. Lavar doesn't care about the quality of his job, just the money! I know it's for the business but we really felt lied to. Sad really, they spoke highly of this gym and the staff!!

This gym just keeps getting worse been a member for 2 years consistently but I think I’ll have to reconsider my membership real soon if changes aren’t made ASAP! The gym is dirty shower curtains have mold all through out them. Gym equipment is constantly broken, or on its last legs brought in from their warehouse. They have no useable basketballs. Now to top it off the sauna is going on 4 weeks since it was deemed damaged/ unusable. Worse thing is when you talk to member services they just give you a vague look and tell you they don’t know when it’s going to be fixed… this is unacceptable…. Management absolutely sucks all they care about is reviews well here they go…

My biggest grip with this location is cleanliness. Majority of the times the wipes are empty so people tend to not clean after themselves after they use a machine since you have to go hunting to find a dispenser that has wipes left. It used to be much better but has gotten pretty smelly in recent times.

Good chunk of the equipment is also old and has some sort of broken aspect to it like torn grips/seat or wobbly joints.

Having a basketball court and a flex room is great but the 7.5 & 10lb dumbbells only being allowed to be used for the instructor let classes is pretty big letdown. Especially you can’t bring general weights from the inside the room and there aren’t any other open spaces to do those type of workouts outside.

Lastly the music is pretty awful. Never forget your headphones at this gym. The songs are quite mid tempo and relaxing instead of pumping you up.

If you are a parent do not use their kids club services. If your child gets injured they will not do anything to investigate properly and their internal investigation process allows the person involved in the incident to lie and cover themselves to prevent accountability. You are better off not trusting them because their leadership says it is illegal to have cameras within the space children are watched. I tried to get a resolution after my child was injured under their watch and district manager spent 21 minutes praising the person who neglected my child. The same person was allowed to have oversight of the entire process eventhough they lied about what took place. If you are a parent do not bring your hard earned money to them. The worse gym that should not be allowed to offer child care services. I had to take my child to the emergency room and their district manager had the audacity to call me and ask me what do i want them to do?

I am a senior citizen. I walked into the LA Fitness in Allentown, PA before 2024 Christmas and bought a GIFT Membership for my son. At that time, I asked the sales person what if my son does not like to use the LA Fitness Membership Gift. The sales person told me that it is very easy to cancel, all I have to do is to walk into the LA Fitness location again and say that I you want to cancel it. My son never used the membership and so I walked into the LA Fitness again to cancel it. I was told by a young man at the counter that it is done. Then I get an email telling me that in order to cancel it, I have to login and fill some details, print it and mail it. I never set up an account. But, the email says that I have to set up an account, then cancel it. It is all soooo confusing, and complicated. I already paid 3-4 months of membership for nothing. Just to cancel it why are they making it sooo hard. Opening the account was a breeze. Why the difference?

Typically a good gym, however I and many others frequently utilize the basketball court, and it has been closed for “maintenance” for a prolonged period of time with the date of reopening being continuously pushed back. This wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t apparent that they were intentionally taking their time. I get that there are incidents with fights and such, but it doesn’t make sense to make all suffer for the actions of a few. I wish they would figure out a better system to stop the trouble makers without taking away the gym from everybody.

I signed up for LA Fitness years ago and it was a pretty decent place. I stopped going when Covid hit, I signed back up a few months ago and let’s just say, it’s NOTHING like it use to be! It gets crowded after 3pm, people sit at the machines 15/25 min while talking to others or engaging on their cell phones… which is wasting time of others that wish to use that machine which may be the only like it. Many of the machines are broken or out dated compared to some of the other gyms that are much cheaper. Also, when going in the sauna there’s clothing hung on the banister, people with their cell phones having full conversations or playing music really loud. I go in to whine down and relax in hopes of some quietness. There should be a rule as to no phones while in use of the sauna room.

My son has a membership specifically for the basketball courts. Because some people have no self control and like to fight, the courts are closed. So what about the people who don't fight or cause problems? They are stuck paying for a membership they can't use instead of the people causing problems losing their memberships. But then LA fitness would lose money. So the good customers get screwed and LA fitness loses nothing.

I have a membership with LA Fitness and decided I wanted to look into personal training. I was told by the sales manager (I'm guessing on the job title) that I would pay X amount per month for one time per week for 6 months. I was told that every month they would check weight, measurements, BMI, etc., and that they'd do a fitness assessment every month as well. I never got a single fitness assessment other than they day I signed up. I never got my measurements or weight or anything rechecked. My very first scheduled session, I show up at 5:30 am as scheduled (earlier, actually) and no trainer showed up. Next sessions go okay, I found a trainer who I liked working with but he was VERY inconsistent. He would cancel the night before or even the morning of our training sessions, one time he didn't show up for our sessions bc he forgot (this was not the same trainer as the one I was scheduled with for my very first session). One time he actually asked me if I could pick him up from his house at 5am bc he didn't have a ride to the gym. I complained to Ace who was the person I signed up with, he said he had a solution and would follow up with me. Well, come to find out, the next day after I spoke with him was his last day bc he was starting at a new LA fitness location. He had to know he was transferring THE NEXT DAY when he promised he'd follow up, so it seems like he was just trying to shut me up. I contacted the customer service center and filed a complaint. I was told I would get a call back in 3 days. One month later and still no follow up. I spoke with the general manager at the gym and he was great actually. I believe his name was Brian. He actually followed up with me when he said he would. He told me that unfortunately he couldn't do what I was asking for but that I should continue escalating the issue. So I called the corporate number again and spoke with Tiffany. She was supposed to call me back and again I did not get a return phone call. I still have FOURTEEN sessions remaining, and I just want my money back!!!! LA Fitness DID NOT live up to their end of this contracted agreement, and now they are refusing to return my money and everyone who says they will help me and follow up with me is LYING (with the exception of Brian).

DO NOTTTTTT JOIN THIS GYM AND DEFINITELY DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING.

I got a membership for both my husband and I, I signed up online a few months ago and since initiating our membership we never took a photo to keep on file being are very private people. Upon entering this location Brian the GM asked me to take a picture. I don’t feel comfortable and explained that to him. he then asked for my ID which I never carry when I go to the gym because it may fall out and get lost. I’m not satisfied with how he handled this situation. I missed my workout! My husband was late to get our kids from school because he had to turn back and pick me up. I pay 70 a month for this membership and now don’t feel safe to go back. I’m also reaching out to corporate to see what can be done to De-escalate Incidents. As a GM He could’ve asked me to verify myself through the actual app or pull up my Membership enrollment confirmation which is in my email connected to this account. Or simply gave me a warning for future purposes to bring my ID and let me workout. I should NEVER BE turned away.

I had to cancel my membership because the one in Easton was closed. The manger lady is very very rude. I had to come 2 times in different days because she takes break from 1 to 2:30 pm. I don’t know how a manger takes up to one hour and half on a break. The guy how works at the front very nice and kept apologizing. It's not bad, but there are things to improve, many bad machines from a few weeks ago and they don't solve it and they should rethink the schedule both during the week and on weekends.

I have been going for a few months and I like it but the schedule is difficult so sometimes I have thought about changing.

And they should put more machines in the afternoon, it is super complicated to train there are many people and little machinery.

POOR LIGHTING
THE 1 star is for the poor lighting in their guest parking lot. This has been ongoing for weeks and no initiative to take care if it!.. that's until I got rob!!!. This occur 12.4 in a poor lit area near the gym entrance- mind u This was after 530pm! and thought it was the best spot... they jimmie my 2015 car and rob me!!. Made a report to cooperate shortly after- let's see what they will do!..Be aware and alert gym members!

This club has the complete balance of everything I need in a fitness center. The staff is friendly and the manager Paula is the bees knees! She's awesome. Friendly and efficient.

i registered my 14 years old son here around march and canceled the account when I moved on from Whitehall on June but they charged my card multiple times on August for $240 and a 2nd 240 and September they did the same when we asked why they doing this they say you have a 6 month contract for the person is espoused to be training my son they make me sign on tablet without explaining that i have to pay even if he dont use this service

Used to go to the Easton location. When they closed, I handed them two cancellation forms for me and my son. Mine was processed and his apparently was not. They made the assumption that I wanted to drive a half hour to the Allentown location and continued to charge me for the next several months. When I discovered it, I called the Allentown location and after multiple calls to some very confused/slow employees they finally cancelled the membership. When I asked about crediting my account they ignored me and did not respond to emails. Just be warned, if you cancel your membership you need to double-check their work or you will be held liable for their ineptitude.

Since the location closed in Easton, the Allentown location is overly crowded, especially at night. It seems more machines are needed, especially since they’re breaking down more often. The gym should be opened later, or even 24 hours. Personal trainer costs are extremely high, with nothing offered, not even a smoothie or water, let alone diet options, other than a trainer handbook, compared to other businesses I’ve contacted. We can workout all day, but if proper nutrition is not taught, is it even necessary?!? If it wasn’t from the classes offered, I’d transfer my membership completely to a different company. The staff are nice, and always welcoming. I’ve caught people having sex in the hot tub, ppl sit on the machines a have public affection while people are waiting on the machine.

Smaller than any of the locations in New York but still above and beyond a budget gym. Clean and staff was friendly which is not guaranteed in the pricier gyms like LA Fitness

Entire staff isn’t friendly. The trainers refused to provide me with my first training and the supervisor was told that they weren’t available to train me. Now they constantly checking me like they want to start problems with me. They all have attitude problems. Seemed like a nicely ran facility. Far from it.

I wish I could just give 0 stars, who ever is thinking of subscribing because there daycare I recommend they don’t, there staff is not capable of taking care of children, they scream and miss treat the kids and my son was almost intoxicated if he would have grab something else.

FELT LIKE THESE PEOPLE DON'T WANT ANY NEW MEMBERS...

Today I went to this fitness for the first time after taking the membership through Active&Fit, As soon as I entered in the building I saw that one front desk girl was having some heated discussion with another (member or new) person but surprising other 3 at the front desk were just listening to those conversation and paying no attention to the other people entering to the building or waiting for the assist. Since it was my first day there, I need to activate my membership, so I have to wait, but no one cares about me until the other discussion finished!! Then the front desk girl gave me a form to fill my basic details and asked to sit and she ran away, another person came and asked me the same basic question(he did not even look at the form which i filled!!) and entering into their system. something was not right in the system, he consulted another person from the front desk and he was loudly saying to me "call them, call them".. I was wondering like, "call who? "why should I call"? I repeated asked "to whome I should call? and whats the problem?". then he said, "my id is not showing in their system, I needs to get a new one from active&fit". They were not trying to re-check my details to make sure they entered correct. but simply saying "call them". I felt very disappointed as they were not offering any help nor talking in a decent way. felt like they are busy in some other business.. I was not expecting as I am visiting this center for the first time, but felt like they don''t need any members. when I was explaining to him he was moving away telling me that "i get it" thats it...he did not feel like I am looking for some help. Will try to cancel my members if i can get the refund. Never recommend this center to anyone for sure.

Paula was so rude and mean. Very judgmental person. The staff at the location only care about themselves. When brought to management about Paula they completely disregarded it and did not even care. Who wants to workout at a place that treats members the way she does? Terrible terrible gym. 1/5 for the gym and -10000/5 star for Paula.

Went to cancel my membership last week and left feeling like the girl at the front desk (Paula) was shaming and scolding me for cancelling. I was told I needed to “prioritize my health” and make time for it and that “not having time” wasn’t a good excuse when she asked me why I was cancelling. Turned what should’ve been a 60 second ordeal into 5 minutes of being lectured and questioned on my health and being told “everything else going on in life will still be there, you need to prioritize your health”. I’ve worked in customer service and hate conflict, so I originally wasn’t going to do anything about it. However, my friend called the gym after I explained what happened (as she is also a member there), and she wanted to make a complaint against the individual. The employee she spoke to said they would pass along her complaint and have the manager call her back, and asked if they could have my information to reach out to me for my statement as well. It’s been a week since this happened, and the manager never called her back, or me. Really disappointed with my last experience.

Monday evening the gym is packed!! It was just overwhelmingly crowded for me. Nobody wipes their equipment after use. The locker rooms and bathrooms are pretty decent but no way I'm going back into this crowd. Thanks for the day pass LA fitness !!

I loved this gym! I would recommend it to everyone I know, and rave about the amenities. I was fortunate enough to find a new job that pays for my gym membership. So why am I giving them a low rating? Because last month my membership was up for my annual renewal and when reaching out to the company, they stated they will not be refunding me for the $70 annual fee, even though I’m not going to use it. As well, they make it nearly impossible for you to cancel your membership. They have these outdated policies that cause you to not be able to close your account and they’ll just keep charging you. Unfortunately the customer service isn’t there. They trained their front desks girls to tell you to go online to close your account, but the app doesn’t allow you too. As well, doesn’t that mean I just lost $70 plus $35 the monthly fee, so I lost $100 on something I’m not going to use? Cool, Thanks la fitness.
