The limestone around the pool and hot tub is streaked with mineral deposits. Many of the lockers in the men's room are broken. The workout machines are often broken down. The club is rundown and dirty. The Glenside location is much nicer.

The manager, “Mike,” cancelled my membership under false allegations without consulting with me prior to doing so. When I requested incident reports, which all came from staff who have personal issues with me, he refused to provide that information including dates (for no other reason than he did not “feel like it.”)
There is an older, tall, skinny, lanky, funny looking older dark black male with gray hair in his beard and hair (short cut) who works the front desk who I have attempted to report multiple times for his aggressive behaviors towards me; however he has refused to provide his name and the manager has allowed him to get away with this. I have reported both to corporate, but unsure as to whether or not any disciplinary action will take place as “Mike” requested direct approval from his regional manager “Fred” to have my membership permanently revoked. I have never had an incident/altercation/issue with any member of the gym for as long as I’ve been there and rarely socialized when I was there.
I have friends who frequent other LA Fitness locations in the region who will be canceling their memberships in solidarity. They will also be leaving their reviews under this locations based on the bullying tactics and discrimination that I faced for months at a time. This is coming from a double Bachelor holding and honorably discharged veteran. Stay away from this location/region. “Mike”needs to be removed from management immediately, and his team members need to be reviewed by an actual unbiased authoritative figure. At the very least “Mike” will have a record as long and tall as the lies he and his staff have fabricated against me, as this injustice will not be tossed aside on my behalf. Staff is pitiful.

Let me start by saying I have written very few reviews in my life, but my experience has been so poor that I just had to. Gym memberships are notoriously difficult to cancel, but LA Fitness by far takes the cake. My fiance and I canceled our membership back in February, only one person was taken off of the account. So we were continuing to be charged until a few days ago. We moved from the area and were told we needed to come in in person to cancel, then when we come in, were told we needed to call. Every single person I talked to told me a different story and had no idea what they were talking about. Eventually Michael gave me a customer service number and we spoke to three different people, all telling me they couldn't cancel my account.. Until I got the right person, Joe. Joe is the only one who knows how to do anything at this company. He worked with his supervisor to fully cancel my account. I was refunded $80 of the total $240 they charged me since February, but it has truly been one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I will just pay the extra money to go to Lifetime. It is not worth the headache here. I wish I could give no stars.

As far as LA Fitness’ go, this is a pretty average location. It’s never that busy though weekday evenings when I’m usually in there.

I gave it 5 stars because of a trainer there that has been working with me from time to time. Even though I was still progressing, I still wasn’t happy with certain muscle groups and Carlos has done a great job providing me with different variations to exercises I was already doing that have helped me tremendously. He knows what works and what doesn’t and he knows how to target specific muscles that can often be tough to grow. On top of that, he truly wants to see you become better and will push to motivate you to work harder. My progress has improved significantly the last few months and I owe a lot of that to Carlos…

Love the staff here but everything else is trash. Just tried to go at 5am when they open. The girl who normally opens at 5 am quit last week and management didn’t find anyone to cover so a bunch of members including myself and my fiancé were left standing out in the rain. The basketball court has had a bubble in the door for at least two years. The treadmills were broken for about 3 months to start this year. Whoever is in charge of upholding the quality standards for LA fitness needs to do their job.

Facilities are nice and include everything needed to get a good workout in. Trainers here are great as well. I’ve worked with both Max and Carlos. Both regularly check in on what I want to work or focus on, bring new ideas to keep my workouts fresh and challenging, and are friendly faces to anyone who comes to the gym. If you like to swim this place is not for you.
- pool is shallow (3ft) and only has 3 lanes
- no sitting place in shower room, put your bag on the floor to get wet.
- inside the shower curtain no place to put your own soap or anything
- locker room has stone cold benches and is very stinky.
- no bathing suit water squeezing machine, and no plastic bags are provided so better come prepared.

I have been going here for 3 years and I have held off on a review... until now. Everything is clean & there is plenty of good lifting equipment BUT the cardio equipment is a nightmare. 40% of treadmills are working and 2/3 of the stair climbers have had out of service signs for the last 3 YEARS. There is no cardio like stair climber cardio. I was walking on the only one without an "out of order sign" and as I finish my climb and hit the stop button, the machine does not stop. I had to abort mission and jump off. Hilarious but bad. Come on guys please fix the stair climbers.

The bathrooms are always dirty and gross. Half the equipment is always “scheduled in service.” This gym needs a desperate face lift. The only reason why I continue to go is because it’s the closest to home and I’m grandfathered in to a really good deal. But I definitely wouldn’t pay $50 per month for this outdated smelly gym.

Overall this is a great gym to go to in the city. The staff is friendly, and the people are nice. I'd give it a 5, if the court floors were taken care of. There's several dead spots were the ball barely bounces. The main problem is the floors should be waxed atleast once a week. If the wrong person breaks, or sprains their ankle the gym would be at fault. With the glenside location being temporarily down, there will be an uptick in traffic. More people who ball will be at risk of getting hurt.

Expect 30% of cardio machines to be broken at any given time. "Working" machines have quirks of their own. Stepped on an elliptical today and the pedal broke right off at the weld. I was assured by a staff member he would put a sign on it and add it to the growing ranks of broken machines. Non-cardio machines will be rusty at joints and welds. The equipment in this gym is largely old and fatigued, but most importantly it's paid for. Although a couple of squat racks have been added to be fair. La Fitness or Esporta (can't seem to figure out who actually owns this place) seems content on investing as little money as possible squeezing as much money out of this place as possible. Late stage capitalism at its finest. Don't pay more than ~30 here, it does have a sauna after all.

It only seems fitting that I update this review. Once upon a time genuinely enjoyed coming to this location. But I moved in 2024 and this one was out of the way for me. I decided to come and visit as I was in the area on Christmas Eve only to encounter the RUDEST trainer ever! I give LA fitness way too much of my time and energy, to have a staff member of a location I’m visiting feel like they can talk to me crazy! Especially after being such a long time member—AND. After having such great memories of this location. Sad to say—I’ll never be back! What a “pleasant” way to begin my holiday. Also…half the machines are broke!

I love my time at LA Fitness. Those at the desk whom I've met- Mike, Beatrice, John - and Carlos, a personal trainer, are all so helpful and pleasant. No question is too simple for them.
