Ok I've been going to this Gym for a month and a half and the staff are super cool, friendly people. You're gonna love them.

Environment wise it can be better, a lot of the equipment when I first started going here was broken, almost 2 months later and most of it still is. I also noticed the sanitizer dispenser seem to always be out.

That being said it's not the end of the word, is conveniently close to me but it wouldn't be my first choice if there was competition just as nearby.

Oh and this is just picky and out of their control but I wish they didn't have to open so late on weekends.

I started going to LA fitness when it first opened and it was a beautiful gym over the years. It has totally deteriorated. The machines are always scheduled for maintenance for months at end if I didn’t live so close, I would definitely find another place to go thank God, I am moving And going back to the original LA fitness which is a beautiful facility. They really need to focus on cleanliness in their bathrooms. Their machines definitely need to Updated It is rusty and always broken, which is a shame because it really could be a wonderful facility. It has a lot of potential, but obviously the workers and management does not care. Hope it changes.

I have been coming here for two years and it just keeps getting worse. Most recently the TVs on their treadmills all started looking like a picture out of 1992 that use an antenna for a connection, if they even work at all. Equipment is always “scheduled for maintenance” for months on end. Recently they ran out of cleaning wipes for over a week and instead of going to a local store to pick some up they put up a sign saying they had more on order. Finding a new gym. Avoid this place at all cost.

Men’s bathroom is foul, honestly. Smells like fermented sweat and is always filthy. Sauna is almost intolerably rancid like it has probably never been sanitized. Has lots of machines which is the only redeeming quality but things are often broken and take forever to get fixed. Only reason this location stays in business is the lack of other options in the area.

Edit: now that the target has opened, it’s damn near impossible to find parking. I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

This place has to be the most disgusting gym I have ever been in. The equipment is in a various stages of gross between rust, cracked, missing parts, sweat drippings, and dirt. Wipes for machines non-existent and hand sanitizers are not filled. Trash left on the floor. The bathroom is another frightening story all together. The staff seemed friendly but the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth, since it is a disease breeding ground. I would avoid this place at all costs.

Ok so there was a point where this gym wasn’t awful. Over the last year it progressively became more disgusting with more broken equipment that takes sometimes months to fix. It literally took them 2 months to replace a bent carabiner. I stopped going after it started smelling like a baby diaper filled with Indian food. I didn’t bother going in to cancel my membership, I simply stopped payment. Now, they relentlessly call and text me for 79 dollars 3-5 times a week. Really? The 7,000 members that you have that don’t even go to the gym aren’t enough? Corporate mentality ruins everything and it has clearly ruined this business as well. It’s a shame.

It's a crap hole but it's our crap hole. If you want a gym where you can always get a machine this is the one. You will be grossed out by the lack of cleanliness. You will be upset when the same machine is still broken 8 months later. You'll swear you'll go somewhere else when your bottle fills up with lukewarm water and you try to put it into a long broken and forgotten cup holder on your cardio machine and it falls to the ground.

But.... You won't leave. The 40ish dollar price point keeps the do-nothing planet fitness crew away. The crustiness makes the ACAC Karen's run for the hills. Nobody is obnoxious or problematic both gym goers and staff. When you can actually get on a bar or free weight instantly 70 percent of the time and with minimal waiting every other time you'll thank yourself. When you're sitting in the dingy sauna thinking about.... Maybe I should go to the Y instead you'll realize... No, right here is home. PS definitely wear shower shoes

Gym is basic. On weekends.the bathrooms tend to get messy. Cardio equipment is rusty. Some equipment is broken for months at a time. Gym is warm, as if AC doesn't work well in it's open space. Mats for stretching and ab exercise are worn. Cable TV cuts in and out. Staff is friendly and there are plenty of weight machines if that's your thing.

I love the group classes. They are taught by really well trained instructors especially Jillian. I’ve been a member at this gym since before it opened. I continue to complain to Management about the dirt everywhere. They do nothing about it. Rugs are frayed which people could trip on. Gum or other sticky stuff in the group room floor & dustbunnies behind the Weights.
The Downingtown gym is always very clean. What’s wrong with this West Chester location?

Went there for about a month and this place is disgusting. Nothing is regularly cleaned. Friend saw roaches in the bathroom. The equipment is in a similarly sorry state. They have 6 stair climbers and last I checked 3 were out of commission… two were broken for the entire time I went there. Their only saving grace is a lot of free weights but if you’re planning on using any equipment good luck, there’s about a 40% chance it’s broken and a lot of it is so worn through that it looks dangerous to use. Don’t waste your money here.

The worst gym in West Chester. The place is always filthy, trash cans overflowing, broken nasty toilets, paper towels dispensers with no paper towels. Plus the workout equipment is in complete disrepair, if it's even functional at all. The LA Fitness Corporation should disown this gym, I'd be embarrassed to share my logo with them. But it's been like this for years now, so I guess they don't care either.

the cardio equipment has matte black screens that may or may not be functional either way your view will be staring at your reflection the entire time attempting to lock in.
My bigger issues were the cleanliness in general I got their kind of early and it looks like none of the equipment had been cleaned the night before they closed or before they opened.
And whatever neon colored gunks seem to be growing in the water fountains really disturbed me.
Also the location of their cardio equipment on the second floor if you lose an earphone or a phone it's falling and probably hitting somebody.
Just between the lack of freshwater and the The location and state of cardio equipment I cannot recommend this gym.

I like this place and I am an avid gym goer. The place is clean and equipment is always functionable.My trainer Rashaad has been awesome! Very intelligent personable, and great to work with. I have achieved major results with him and The manager Lanston is great,professional, and makes sure everyone is comfortable. I'd rate this lower if i could...
I've been going to this gym for five years, and honestly, it's been a letdown. Not blaming the staff, they're probably not paid enough to care. The place is kinda gross with handprints all over the mirrors, and they don't clean up well. Plus, the workout equipment is always breaking, and it takes them roughly 5-6 months, to fix anything. Its gotten to the point people are stuck using broken equipment because they're tired of waiting.

the other big issue are the gym members. They never put their weights back, forget about wiping down machines, and leave trash everywhere. It's annoying, and I wish they'd do something about it. Maybe if they paid the staff a bit more, things would improve. Just saying, it's not worth the money if you're looking for a decent gym.

There have been a few improvements since my last post back last winter. Shower water temperature is good now and several locker room faucets have been replaced and now work. Also the jacuzzi is in great shape now. On the other hand things that have not improved are the upstairs cross country ellipticals. Some haven't worked for months, others have broken heart rate monitors and/or TVs. Most have significant rust and peeled off paint on bottom cross members. Members almost never wipe down equipment after use and "rent" a machine for long unused periods as they use their cell phones while sitting in the machines.

Overall cleanliness of men's locker room and showers has taken a step backwards since my review 8 months ago, especially on weekends. Latest problem is water in showers is way too cold. I hear others complaining all the time too so it's not just me. Please turn up the thermostat on the boiler or fix it. Other complaints I see from others on this site are valid. Antiseptic wipes are too dry and too small and often "out". Some lifecyle type equipment is old and has excessive rust. Patrons continue to "rent" equipment for long periods while using cell phones. Some patrons leave messes in showers and locker room. I am shocked by the reviews stating facilities are clean. They can't be reviewing the same gym I go to. Note that management only acknowledges positive reviews but ignores critical ones. No complaints about front desk staff, they are generally very polite and helpful.

This gym is dirty and the equipment is subpar at best. If you get on elliptical the tv doesn't work and machines aren't able to be engaged properly, so you can't use them. One day I came and there was a notice from the health department citing them. The elevator was broken for months leaving many unable to use the second floor. Corporate doesn't seem to care or it's truly a lack of management. Needless to say I removed myself from this gym.

The gym has good equipment, even cardio, that anyone can get a good workout. It also has a pool, hot tub, sauna and yoga classes. Unfortunately when the equipment breaks down it takes a very long time to get fixed. The bathrooms constantly run out of soap and paper towels. There's always trash on the floor as well. 3 of the 4 Sundays this month the gym has opened late anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes. There's a new management crew that started this year and they're not doing a good job. Most of them just sit at their desk playing on their phone.

The filter status on the water station has been red for over 3 months….it’s ridiculous how you cannot change the filter at a gym. The place is also very dirty. The men’s locker room needs to be cleaned via HazMat team. Just please change the filters on a regular basis at least…

LA Fitness is a great place to get fit and make friends. They have really fun Zumba classes. I love the Yoga class on Wednesday at 7. Body Pump is also another great class on Wednesday. I got talked into buy a training package, should not have done that! I had a trainer for only one month and the next month the person left, they never called me to let me that I got a personal text from the trainer that left. So I had to call them and I wanted out of this because what is the point of having a training package when you have already 3 weeks not being able to access this? She told they just hired someone I told her I wasn't interested in waiting for someone she said well that will cost you $300 to get out of your contract I told her that isn't right. It's been a whole another week since I called her and she still hasn't called me to try and set me up with a new trainer.

I check on their app to see if there is even a trainer available I went out as far as the app would let me and the message is "No available training sessions at this club for the selected date" this message is for every date I put in.

I reached out to the corporate headquarters with no response.
Don't fall for this blatant up sell should of know when she was talking to me kept saying well what could you pay? Let me talk to my manager, this was a red flag I didn't pay attention.

The inside of the lockers are never cleaned - I noticed after a few weeks and multiple gym visits. There's always hair and dust in them. Every time.

The machines are very old and need to get replaced. Old treadmills, bikes, weights - rust and peeling everywhere. Not to mention the chargers on the machines would be perfect - for 2005 iPods. Half the TV screens upstairs don't work, and many drink holders are broken.

It would be great if members actually wiped down machines after use, and/or if staff reminded members because it's definitely not happening regularly.

This LA Fitness is definitely 10 out of 5 stars. Whenever I am traveling back home they are always the most welcoming gym. The facilities are in impeccable condition, saunas are nice and spacious and get to a good heat. The equipment is well organized and taken care and the clientele there are awesome, everyone is respectful and helpful. There's a fitness bar offering great preworkout and post workout options, try the Peanut Butter cup it's great. I couldn't be happier with this place you should def move your fitness journey to here.

LA fitness near me in West Chester PA needs to do better! Seriously? One Aqua fit class a week? Not what I’m paying for! I don’t begrudge anybody wanting to participate. However, the instructor for this course needs to be reevaluated. Appeared unsteady. Spent too much time changing music up. Signed up for a 45 minute class when actual class time was probably less than 30. Reconsidering my reinstatement of my membership.

Instructor arrived more than 10 minutes late. Did not bother to make the time up. It’s not like there was another class waiting to come in. Very disappointed in LA fitness.

Front desk attendant listened to my concern. Kind of shrugged his shoulders and basically indicated oh well that’s the way it is. Said he would check on the instructor. Definitely reconsidering the reinstatement of my membership.

Went in to check the place out until this Shrek-troll looking guy, Leach or Screech, completely skeeved me out (seemed to have the iq of an eggplant), couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Some of the equipment I did see looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in years, just disgusting in so many ways….

Mediocre gym. It gets the job done but it's really gone down hill the last few years. hardly anymore classes, dorty, broken equipment that never gets fixed. They recently just took away paper towels on the gym floor areas?! Why?

I go for the classes. The gym itself is large and even when lots of people are there, it's spread out. I've been going there for almost 5 years. Lately, it's gotten more neglected. It never looks like it's been just cleaned. The room for the classes has the filthiest vents in the ceiling and the a/c does not work- at all. When it's hot and humid as it's been this past week, it's nauseating. EAch time someone walks in the room, they comment on how it feels so oppressive. When I've gone to the front desk, they have said someone is scheduled to look at it. Well, it's now the end of June and it's pretty unbearable. There is no maintenance lately or cleaning it seems. It's a shame because it's a nice facility and very convenient.
EDITING to add, I sese the review was done in late June. The air conditioning had been a problem since the weather turned warm, so late May or early June .
When I went on Saturday August 5, nothing had been corrected.

The room where the classes are held is so hot it is unsafe ! We have been complaining for 2 months and nothing has been done ! It is also dirty, there were 2 dust balls the size of rats on the floor. The instructors are great but it is very difficult for them to teach . The floor is sticky and it is hard to move .

There has been a Loogy in the mens room sink, for three weeks now. This clearly shows the state of the gym, they clearly don’t clean the one place in a gym that is supposed to be clean at all times. Disgusting.

Extremely poor customer service. Started going to this gym about 9 months ago. The sole reason that we joined was due to the amazing service we received from the previous manager. Every member of the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Once management changed, everything went downhill quickly. Employees seem to turn over frequently and the new manager is unwelcoming, sarcastic, and generally just rude. She refused any accommodations we asked that we had always received under previous management, and rudely told us that either we comply or she would cancel our membership. Even the VP himself, Clay, was the same way. Would not recommend, the price is ridiculously high for a gym that does not treat its members, equipment, or staff with any respect.

New management took over a month ago and has been god-awful. Decline in quality, cleanliness, employee attitudes, and customer service. New management just terminated my membership because it was “against policy” despite it being agreed upon by the prior GM… written and signed. To call out by name, Clay the VP has an especially arrogant attitude and has no customer service whatsoever. The facility will continue to see a decline in all aspects.

Filthy gym never cleaned! Chalk on floor by dumbbell's there for two months! The music is always loud for employees pleasure and interferes with your own ear buds! Staircase to cardio and the machines haven’t been cleaned in months! Thinking about quitting to join somewhere else!!

Entire gym is filthy. Sauna and bathrooms are disgusting. The equipment is old and machines constantly break. The broken machines stay broken and never get fixed. Whole place is overcrowded as well cannot even get a workout in anymore.

GM threatened to close the locker room because they’re too lazy to pick up a few peoples trash punishing the entire gym for the actions of a few people is ridiculous it’s very obvious from the state they leave the gym in that the employees do not like to clean old broken and rusty equipment everywhere and mold on the fountains

First time at an LA fitness and was quite impressed! Ashland was a sweetheart from setting up the appointment to showing my daughter and I around! Even got comfortable on the stationary bikes, like the atmosphere, nice swimming pool, and looks clean. Thanks LA fitness team! Also have a 6 day pass! No pressure which I really like and look forward to signing up as a member.

The dirtiest gym I had ever seen. Bathrooms are never clean, no toilet paper, all machines are either dirty or rusted with actual holes in metal. Dust is all around the surfaces, attachments for the machines are missing. The worst part was brown water in the hot tub.

Finding a good gym during the holiday travels is always hit or miss. La Fitness in West Chester, Pa was a definite hit! Katie and Ashley were very friendly and accommodating! The gym was clean and stocked with well maintained equipment. There were all ability types focused on working out and I didn’t have to wait for any equipment. Fly Eagles Fly!

i’ve never felt more comfortable in a gym in my life. i started my lifting journey here and the entire staff has not only supported me but they have helped me achieve so many of my goals. the staff are the most educated, supportive, and professional group of people i have had the pleasure of knowing. I have learned so much no only from the environment they have created but the knowledge they have passed on to the members. Austin, Brian, and Tim have changed the way i look at fitness.
