I joined my kid to the Ymca daycare facility. She is 3yrs old. We are african american family. My kid said two of the kids from her class called her "ugly and black". And no one plays with her. I wanted to say a big thanks to Jared who plays with my kid when others dont! If this goes on its gonna be tough for other kids.

I love the YMCA also the community it's a nice place to be. Sanitary and Cleansiness is extremely important. To prevent sickness bathroom and locker room are horrible at times the pool area as well needs to be cleaned and I pray the keep up with pool because nobody wants to get sick . I understand things can be overwhelming but we trust to come to a safe and healthy place. The things also aren't free so kindly give community what they're entitled to. Train younger staff to be aware of autism staff over all. Kindness is extremely important great service is important

I want to begin by saying that we’ve had wonderful experiences with the staff, and my son absolutely LOVES the Stay and Play area. It’s such a valuable resource—it allows him to socialize and play while my husband or I get some work done or squeeze in a workout, all while staying in the building.
That said, we’ve run into some ongoing challenges with accessing other amenities. Despite checking the schedule in advance, we’ve only been able to use the pool for Family/Open Swim a handful of times in the past six months. We’ve since learned to call ahead, as the pool may be listed as “open” but unavailable due to the absence of a lifeguard. Even when we do call, we often have to specifically ask whether a lifeguard is on duty, as the staff we speak with are referencing the same schedule we are. The water works/channel also seem to never be open when we do attend, and other members have told us they also notice on their visits its almost never on despite the schedule noting when they will be turning it on.
I don’t mind calling ahead when needed, and we completely understand that things happen from time to time—staffing issues, maintenance, or unexpected closures. However, this has become a very consistent, ongoing issue. It’s frustrating to have to worry about whether amenities will actually be available—especially when we’re paying a monthly fee with the expectation that all advertised features are accessible.
We truly enjoy being part of the community, and we appreciate the friendly staff and the Stay and Play experience for our son. (Which again, he absolutely loves, and we are so appreciative of the staff who watch him) However, due to the continued inconsistency and lack of reliability with key amenities, we’re considering canceling our membership. We hope these concerns can be addressed so that families like ours can fully benefit from everything the facility is intended to offer.

I've been a member for four months and use the gym and pool three times a week for several hours. The personal trainers and lifeguards are great. I want to like the facility. I'm not sure of the attentiveness and quality of the management. The HVAC, pool, and steam room systems have been repeatedly trouble-prone. There have been extensive ceiling water leaks in various areas which appear to have repeatedly occurred over a period of time as evidenced by water stained and damaged walls and ceiling tiles. There's also been an inadequate level of custodial staffing to keep on top of locker room, restroom, and pool deck cleanup throughout the day. I've relayed my concerns to management. Hope they expedite correcting all those things and spruce up the place.

Horrible customer service. They offer NO WAY to find out when the Stay and Play is closed. So yet again I drive 31 minutes to waste time and gas. NO APOLOGY EITHER.
Updates (after seeing the response)
#1 I understood it was an unavoidable reason to close and I SAID that to the 3 people I spoke to.
#2 I have no idea why the story changed in the response to this. I was clearly told there wasn't anything on website as far as closures (ex: emergencies or lack of staffing) for Stay and Play. Also told there is no notification system. I was told the ONLY thing I could do would be to call before coming to ask if Stay and Play was open that day.
#3 Not the 1st time this has happened.

I have had nothing but a great experience at this location. Every amenity I can think of is readily available to me. I am not sure what is going on with the negative reviews with people saying the front desk staff is rude? Everyone has been super nice to me every single time I go in there.
If you find service staff consistently rude everywhere you go maybe it is time to take a look in the mirror and do a little self reflection.
Dealing with people every day for a living can be taxing and difficult, cut them some slack.
I use the gym, pool and steam room 2-3 times a week and have not had a single issue and I am coming up on a year membership.

Cancel the membership is not a smooth process here. After you gave 30 days notice, they still charge you one more bill cycle after 30days. If you are cancelling here, at least be 2 month ahead of time to give notice. Always do in the end of bill cycle, not in the beginning.

Thinking of a pool party, Lansdale Y is your go to place!!
Recently we had our daughter’s birthday party. She asked for a pool party and Lansdale Y was great in accommodating our big party.
Mr. Ian Dillard our party associate from Lansdale Y is awesome. He helped us in every step to make this party a wonderful memory for our family.
All kids not only loved to have a splash in the pool but also had a blast with Mr. Ian Dillard when he volunteered as a dance DJ.
All parents loved our party and praised Ian’s energy levels are remarkable.
Everybody had so much fun.
Thank you Ian and Lansdale Y.

This is the worst ever experience.
The staffs at the front desk are always always always on phones and you have no other choice but wait until they finish the calls. And the WORST is that everything needs to go through that smart front desk.
Why would I need to spend my valuable time to wait for your sales call or whatever that is. I really regret that I spend my money here.
They spend all the resources to get you in but once you are in, they don’t care about your experience at all!!!

We recently had our daughter’s 7th birthday party at the Lansdale YMCA. We did a gymnastics theme and the experience was amazing from beginning to end. I cannot say enough positive comments about Ian the Program Director. He was very responsive and made the whole experience stress free.
The party began in the gym and his enthusiasm and energy level did not let down for two hours. He made it so fun for the kids and was able to cater to varying experience levels. All parents commented on how amazing he was and how he made the party so fun for everyone! I would definitely plan another party with him!

I grew up in the area and watched this y go through a lot of transformations. I started here by going to the summer camp when I was little and now as a grown man I’ve been lifting here for about 3 years. I do love the gym as it’s the most comfortable spot to lift for me. But, unfortunately my gym experience was affected the other day. When attend accuses me of using explicated language. I deny these claims. And then he puts his finger in my face and try’s to yells at my as if I were I child. I still love this place and will continue to go. But, they definitely need to retrain gym l staff on how to talk to people the way I was spoken to was unacceptable.

Writing reviews for Swimming Team: Between 2021-2022. We put our daughter for swimming lessons there, she's quite capable to learn anything that's taught but for Level 2, they were only teaching few items listed in it and they are keeping her in Level 2 for the third time. They're kind of short staffed and trying to add more kids to their coach up team and expect parents to pay too much for a simple swimming lesson that would take few weeks. She's going to attend the 3rd time 8 week session for Level 2 now; it's a total swindling. Please respect others time and money. I couldn't switch places as that involves planning an alternative. Thanks.

Rude staff, inconvenient hours, and they keep closing the pool/sauna at arbitrary times. Sometimes they even close the pool/sauna 90 minutes (!) before the whole facility closes, and when I ask why they close the pool so early and why the times keep changing, I get a shrug and an "I don't know" from the staff. I've found it worth it to go out of my way to use the Ambler facility because the staff are way nicer and the pool/sauna is actually open when they say it is. Imagine that!

The gym is solid and I really enjoy that but if you want to play basketball do not get a membership here. The court is usually only available for a few hours in the morning and at night and some days closes for 11 HOURS for pointless camp activities that could easily be done in other places. So basically you pay and are told that you are getting access to everything but that’s a lie and the basketball court is rarely if ever available to your use. I hope they fix these issues in the future or lower membership costs because you don’t have access to the full facility.

I had the "wellness director" kick me out today. I walked in with my mask on and per policy while i was working out pulled it down over my face so i could breathe better. He warned me once proceeded to walk downstairs and workout with people who were doing the same thing I was. 2nd time he came up i tried showing him the policy and he said I had to leave due to "code of conduct" He tried taking my information but once the director of the Y talked to me he assured me I was in the correct and would talk to the "wellness director" I've been a member for years and never met anyone there so disrespectful.

I was a previous manager of another local gym. I know gyms everyday I come here there is an issue in one way or the other. They have screwed up the way my family membership is listed and we have called few times over the years, no one can help us. I am not exaggerating when I say to sign in it takes us around 4 min. Today, we tried to swim and after waiting outside for 15 mins a lifeguard comes up to tell us that we can’t swim because it thundered outside. I have never heard of this rule before. I know we swam when it was raining before. We will probably cancel but because it’s a quasi government entity it doesn’t matter. Just very frustrated. Under the logic of thunder and power going out, how can people lift weights during thundering and lightening storms, what if the power goes out?

The Staff in the aftercare was wonderful to my child and he loved going everyday. Even my daughter who came with us to pick up our son loved Mrs. Patty (She is wonderful) We had to leave suddenly last month to go to a more affordable program and I was aware of the policy and asked if they made acceptions for refunds. They said they could not fill the spot therefore i could not get my refund back. I then asked for a credit to the Club but they never replied to my e-mail. Just wish they would of replied either way.

Have always had a positive experience with the YMCA. I've found the front desk personnel to be friendly, professional and prompt when checking in. The equipment is well maintained and clean. I typically only use the lap pool but when I do it is at a good temperature and not too crowded. The hot tub may be a little heavy with the chlorine, but with all the use , it's understandable.
The YMCA is an excellent value and a strong asset to the community. Very happy with the recent additions. Keep up the good work !

Literally NO AC in this building ever...top floor is stifling...Ive stood right under the vent and no air comes out. I can only imagine its worse for the seniors.....Seriously someones going to have a heat stroke...equipment seems to be under maintainenced.
Some of the staff is extremely nice. There is a woman from Roxborough thats always pleasent. Then there was another playing candy crush who scoffed at me like I was the biggest inconvenience to her on a Sunday.....Hey I get it alot of the people volunteer but there is no reason to be rude for no reason. Def one of the lesser y’s Ive been to.

Family pool should be renamed to sardine can.
YMCA will NOT let you use the lazy pool section or the slide due to lack of staffing. This makes the pool half the size and it's packed with 30+ members at any given time. It's like 1 life guard to 30 member ratio.
Oh never forget your kid's swimming band otherwise s/he will be forced to wear a life jacket in 3ft water. Does this mean wearing the green band will save ones life??? Better solution is to provide a loaner to members since we are already paying for our membership.
Staffs are like robots. They have no sympathy. Maybe start thinking where your pay checks come from???

I think there is a lot of potential for improvement.
The center is beautiful.
I took the kids here because we had off from school and I heard the pool was really cool. We swim regularly at our home YMCA and all 4 kids have taken at least 2 courses of swim classes.
To hang out in the maximum of 3 foot water (there is a separate family pool area) you have to pass an extensive swim test. It included lap swiming in the lanes, treading water for a timed amount of time, jumping in the deep end, and getting out of the pool without using a ladder.
All of my kids had to wear life vests ages 10 to 6 and stay an arms reach from me at ALL times, or we got yelled at and basically harassed my the life guards. It is overkill. They are all a foot and a half taller than the deepest water in the kid area. They can all swim in deep water and are in water at least 2 times a week.
I understand safety but this is absolutely unnecessary and frankly unfair. I am always in the water with them and watching them. We have been to all sorts of water parks and pools and none of them have rules like this. You made my children feel horrible.
Beyond that- the water slide was closed the entire time and the "water park" area was closed shortly after we got there.

This YMCA is mostly for swim club, regular members don’t get chance to swim up till 7.30 pm.
Wanted to swim after work after 4.30 but unfortunately have to wait till 7.30 , and someday after 7.30 another group is coming for learning so for normal members have only two lanes for swimming.
In short in this YMCA I doesn’t have feelings of YMCA.

Probably great if you want to do laps or bring the family. I use the pool for pain control. Today, I got squeezed out of the “family “ pool because a couple of people wanted to do laps so they roped off a big section. Another section had buckets of water pouring down and the small section that I was squeezed into was taken over by someone who wanted to practice their kicks. I found out after I changed that the other pool was open even though the schedule said lessons. Basically, there is no dependable place where you can hang out. Why could they not have told me this before I joined?

This branch of the YMCA is a bit of a mixed bag of good & bad, old & new. The new section of the Y is really nice. It has three pools and a really good family locker room area. The layout in the gym is a little odd - I prefer the layout in the Indian Valley branch. Some of the folks I’ve interacted with there are really great. My daughter took a youth fitness class there and it was really cool how Phil spent some time with them and gave them an introduction to boxing.
On the constructive side, the older side of the building looks very dated. Also the location of this branch apparently isn’t the best. My wife’s car window got smashed and her belongings taken while her car was parked there on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody saw anything and no cameras on that section of the lot. A friend of mine’s car was keyed up while he was in the Y doing his workout. So we prefer to go to go to the Indian Valley Y, rather than the Lansdale branch.

The new pool is very nice but how it is managed for lap swimming is very poor.
Frequently people are wading or water walking during lap swimming when they have two other pools that can used for that purpose. Also during busy lap swimming times they often allow people to occupy a single lane and not double up like most pools do to allow more people the opportunity to swim laps.
