About the Club

LILA YOGA CLASSES are focused on holistic alignment: BODY ~ BREATH ~ INTENTIONS Each yoga posture becomes an opportunity to awaken, explore, and unite with a specific state of being. Special emphasis is placed on how prana (cosmic energy) can flow and support the body, breath and mind. A class typically includes:

- invigorating flow of yoga postures that ignite warmth;
- deeply focused individual postures;
- and finish with nourishing restorative postures.

The result is a REFRESHING ENERGY within a STRONG BODY ~ CALM MIND ~ PEACEFUL HEART LILA YOGA focuses on acknowledging and uniting with the larger rhythms of life and the interplay of energy at any given moment.

This hidden gem is a world-class yoga studio that has inspired me to travel six hours round trip for yoga teacher training with owner Erica Kaufman in Fall 2018. What an inspiring place to practice! I wish this was my hometown yoga studio. The morning sun salutations classes and practice with live music are not to be missed. How fortunate for you if you live in State College PA!

I wish I could give Lila Yoga Studios 100 stars. I make sure to attend at least one yoga class at the studio every day to ensure that I’m being the kindest to my body, my mind, and my community. The positive energy in these classes is unparalleled in any other yoga classes I’ve ever taken. It’s simply magical. I’ve come to realize my own importance in these classes and you will too. “You can’t edit yourself out” (Erica) so it’s important to participate in the change with others and evolve and grow to our fullest. I recommend these experiences to any soul wishing to be kind to themselves and do what is good and healthy for mind, body, and spirit. Never feel intimidated. You will find a comfortable place here. Each class is your own experience at this studio.

All of the instructors are fantastic- you can’t go wrong. Some amazing ones include Hannah and Debmalya as well as newer instructors like Chris, Haley, and Bridget. I’ve never had a bad experience, but I specifically want to highlight studio owner and personal favorite Erica Kaufman. I even flew across the country from Seattle, where I live, mainly to take a few more classes with her!

I very recently completed my 200-hour teacher training with Erica and have taken a countless number of her classes and every class has a quality that is beautifully indescribable. The fact that I can’t name it is its attribute because it is only something one can experience, something one can only feel if one actually takes her class. She is so present and vibrant in the space, it’s truly incredible. She incorporates the perfect amount of challenge mixed in with healing mental clarity and calmness that leads one to the maximum physical and mental health benefits one can attain from such a practice.

When I write these words in my review, I honestly can say I only speak so highly of Erica and my own parents- that’s it. So, I really want to emphasize Erica’s profoundness with intention and solidity. Erica taught me that it’s important not to idolize individuals, but Erica is someone whose knowledge of yoga and wisdom about life are two categories she deserves high respect for. I’m so glad Lila Yoga is currently being spread all over the world and I hope it touches the lives of many people for generations to come and I also hope that it affects people as powerfully as it has me. It has remarkably changed me for the better through the past recent months. I came to the studio lost and depressed, a lonely troubled soul bogged down in the stress of daily college life, searching for meaning and purpose. My actions and intentions contained no philosophy, no theme. Until I studied with Erica, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. It was with Erica’s guidance that I realized what was missing in my daily life. I did not see beyond what I could immediately see until I was put on a path of self-discovery. Each person is different, so I encourage every person reading this to find your own path. We all have a path to greater clarity in our lives and we never really stop finding ourselves.

After a period of rapid change, I am now constantly searching for positivity and light, and, for lack of a better verb, exhaling the toxicity created by my past self. I constantly strive to better myself every day and every decision I make is with precise intention. I focus on the health of my physical body, my mental health, the intention of my actions, my breath, my posture, my words, my kindness to others, and the purity of my heart. I encourage everyone of all shapes and sizes and ability levels, for the goodness of your health and our community whether in State College or the world at large, to take classes at Lila and to start taking classes with Erica. You will change. You will transform. You will feel more connected to others and your own self. Just my two cents.

Lots of love,

Erin Shea 💗🙏🏻

LILA YOGA REVIEW
I felt so good after attending my first Lila Yoga Sun Salutation class that I decided to continue to practice at the studio. I have been practising for six months. Lila Yoga has assisted in deepening my understanding of yoga and its relevance in my life.
I find the vibrant Indian style studio a warm and soothing environment. I have met a fantastic community of yoga practitioners. We studied yoga teacher training in the studio and have just attended a thrilling, ten day yoga retreat in India.
Erica, the founder of Lila Yoga and owner of the studio, is a brilliant teacher. She is full of love, energy and commitment to her students. I appreciate the guidance, support and personal attention that I have experienced. Erica, the studio teachers and Lila Yoga are wonderful models for what is available in the realm of yoga.

I love everything about this studio! The authenticity, teachers, location and the people who practice. If you are a beginner or advance, (don't worry no mirrors! no intimidation :D) they have classes that fit your level. They also do a lot of community work like free yoga for a week every semester..

Lila Yoga Studios was such a great experience for me in State College! Erica and the rest of the instructors are incredible. Erica called the studio the "yoga treehouse" and this haven could not be described any better. I loved coming here for the past two years and deepening my yoga practice.

Very friendly environment ... beautiful community

Classes verity:
1- I attended a flow for all levels (is usually level 1) teachers were in their teacher training or recently teaching.

2- regular flow empowerment and Candlelit (level2) with Branda ... she is amazing with a bubbly loving character... I loved her practice and one of my favorite teachers

3- and advance flow ( level 2-3) with the owner Erica sooo authentic ! Sooo grounding, and spiritual, poses in Sanskrit (big plus)

I love it when teacher practice using Sanskrit names... more authentic ... and I won’t guess what the pose is ... coz apparently every community have there own name in calling some poses ...

I looooooooove the experience ... highly recommended... Will definitely practice again when I come visit this town in the near future ...💙

Lila is the best yoga studio I've ever been to. I only went there for a semester, but it was one of the best yoga experiences I had. I've been doing yoga for three years, but I learned more in one semester than I did the past three years. All the teachers were very good and qualified (a special thank you to Grace for her teaching ). I would highly recomment student passes for unlimited yoga (it's such a good deal!).

Mindfulness and unity seem to develop a new meaning after leaving the Lila Studio. The atmosphere and teacher guidance enables you to connect your movement and mind in a way I have not previously experienced. I highly recommend anyone, visitors, residents, newbie and professional yogis, to check out this practice!

I am relatively new to yoga, but I was looking for a way to find more balance in my life as a grad student. Lila Yoga is an amazing place to learn, relax, and practice. The teachers are very knowledgeable and compassionate. They know when to nudge you into a new skill or experience and when to back off a little bit. They also encourage students to rest if needed or modify poses. I have heard that before, but I truly feel comfortable doing that at Lila. There is a wide range of classes, from Gentle Yoga to Moon Salutations. I adore Moon Salutations, but I have enjoyed every class I have taken here. Lila Yoga also offers classes with live music, which are always incredible, and free contact improvisation/contemplative dance jams that are a lot of fun. There is so much love in this place.

Over a year ago, I nervously began taking classes at Lila Yoga as a newbie and was welcomed with a kind encouragement that immediately put me at ease. Every instructor is not only skilled and devoted, but also eager to assist and assure you that “there is no judgement here.” Hearing these words was a relief, in more ways than one, and I began to learn the value of letting go, to release tension I hadn’t even realized I’d been carrying in my body, while also building physical strength, tone, and energy, and eliminating the back pains I’d dealt with for so long. The mind-body practice of Lila Yoga has honestly improved my overall, everyday state of being and continues to teach me invaluable lessons in self-care and restorative techniques that apply to daily life. I’ve taken everything from Intro to Yoga and Power Yoga, to Sun Salutations and Gentle Yoga – each provides its own unique experience and nourishment, and the various options available meet a variety of interests (incl. special events, e.g. yoga with live music and sound healing.) Each instructor brings their own style to the Lila tradition, which keeps classes fresh and full of personality, and they each welcome all with warmth and an interest in individual well-being, offering adaptations and personalized instruction to meet various comfort levels and ability. If you’re thinking of trying yoga, this is the place!

Every teacher I've had at Lila has been nurturing, grounded, and passionate about yoga. Erica hasn't simply provided a studio for people to practice yoga--she's enriched the State College community. As a student at Penn State, it's easy to get swept up into college life and feel like a number in a crowd, but practicing at Lila has allowed me to be a part of a tight-knit community. I highly recommend Lila Yoga for people of all ages!

Lila has made a big difference in my life. More than physical asana is practiced at this studio, and the messages of compassion and mindfulness (as well as many others) have made me a happier and more balanced person. The owner and the other teachers are wonderful, and the space feels more like a community than a business.

I started going to Lila Yoga primarily because it was close to my apartment but I lucked out; so far every Lila instructor I've had has been patient, thoughtful, and knowledgable.

There is a very nurturing atmosphere in the studio that ensures you never feel isolated or left out of the practice -- there is no hierarchy of ability or experience dividing the room and this has really helped me feel at ease, even during my first time there.

The studio offers free sessions very frequently -- including regular mediation sessions that are always free-of-charge -- so you should not feel pressured to purchase a membership.

I've had a fantastic experience with this studio and I highly encourage others to visit the studio. When I leave practice/meditation, it is oftentimes one of the few parts of the day when I don't feel stressed/anxious/overworked -- if you're a stressed out student like me, I can not stress how beneficial yoga and meditation can be.
