Serious adaptable training. Passion for fitness took me from 230 pound novice to 170 pound athlete. Joe and his team understand the all aspects of health and fitness, but incrementally climb you to your highest potential, in an incremental safe manner. After years of trying and struggling with my teen who had put on a lot of weight and not being enthusiastic about training or being active, he was able to get to her and get her buy-in on eating healthy and staying active. I am in my 60’s, and realized that I needed help getting back in shape. The combination of my age, lack of exercise and my numerous health issues caused me to lose muscle mass. I searched online for a personal trainer, and I was fortunate to find Joe Ransom with “Passion for Fitness”. I see Joe for fitness training sessions in his main studio located in the charming community of Eagleview Town Center in Exton, as well as his convenient studio located in the heart of Phoenixville.
Joe has been wonderful, and his guidance and expertise is exactly what I needed. He works with clients of all ages and levels of fitness, and he is able to adjust my training and exercises to zero in on what works best for me. His energy and positive motivation instantly put me at ease. I was impressed with his skill and expertise - not only with what exercises I need to get back in shape, but also how to overcome the challenges I face getting to that point. I continue to look forward to my sessions. Joe is very knowledgeable, and I like the personal attention I receive from him rather than at a large, crowded and noisy gym. 5 stars are not enough...Joe and his staff really know their stuff! I've been training with Joe for over a year now. My life and body have changed because of Passion For Fitness. I have never had a consistent workout regimen. I started running and had gotten hurt and could not find any motivation to exercise. I met with Joe Ransom and knew that I found a home. I look forward to every workout because they are all different. My days of physical therapy are over. After a two year hiatus, I am back to personal training and I am thrilled that I found Passion for Fitness! What makes Joe and his team stand out from my other personal training experiences is the focus on proper form and body alignment first before adding any weight. I thought the pain I experienced in my lower back was a normal part of lifting heavy weights. In working with Joe and team, I realized I’m using my back incorrectly and my form needs to improve. My 91 year old mother was having issues continuing her daily walking routine as her back was hurting her and severely limiting her mobility. In June of 2021 she started noticing she wasn't able to walk her normal 2 to 3 miles. By August she was only able to walk around the block and was in a lot of pain while walking and sitting. We reached out to Joe to see if there was something he could do to help her reduce her pain and get her back to walking 2 to 3 miles. After the consult Joe immediately identified the issue and said he would be able to help her. She started with 2 day a week sessions on September 28th and now after 2 months she is now able to walk her 2 miles without any issues. Joe also has her working out with 15 lb kettlebells. Her mobility improvement is nothing short of amazing. She looks forward to getting up each day to do her exercises and daily walks. Thank you Joe for doing an outstanding job giving my mother her mobility back!

Deciding that I needed to work with a personal trainer was one of the most important decisions I have made in last few years. Because of medical issues, I gained almost 100 lbs and at 69 years old, it seemed impossible for me to lose it even though I tried many programs and plans in the last 10 years. When I did a on-line search in February 2021, Bark opened up and I was able to check out several trainers, one of which was Passion for Fitness. Within a few minutes of putting in my information, I was contacted by Joe Ransom. It was only then I realized that he was on the East Coast and I was on the West coast, but because PFF was doing virtual training, it might work. Talking with Joe was so motivating and he laid out such a cohesive plan for me, that I knew it was a good fit. Since that time I have worked with several members of the PFF team and I have been amazed at the consistency they show. I have enjoyed working with each one of them. Since beginning my training, I have lost 20 lbs. and am feeling so much stronger and healthier. My diet has been a big issue for me and Joe definitely knows how to hold me accountable and yet motivate me at the same time. Joe has had training in the issues older people have to deal with, such as lower back pain, and he has been able to integrate the right exercises to help alleviate the pain that my doctors have been unable to do. I work out 2x each week for 30 minutes with one of the trainers over ZOOM and have access to Joe when there are questions or concerns with my routine or diet. I feel so fortunate to have connected with Joe and the PFF Team! They are fun to train with and have taught me to truly enjoy working out. Joe's knowledge and understanding of the human body as it pertains to fitness and health is profound.
I'm a fitness junky - I love training, reading and learning about all things fitness - and have been doing so for over a decade.
I went to see Joe because I have a herniated disc in my lower back that I've dealt with since high school. And because of my injury, I've always had a mental block with certain movements. The deadlift and squat in particular. In 45 minutes, Joe was able to teach me more about the deadlift than I've learned from several other trainers and online forums. Through breaking down each step in the movement, I was able to not only deadlift pain free, but was also able to increase my weight 50 pounds in my next workouts. Technique is king and Joe wrote the book.
Joe is the most knowledgeable trainer I've had the pleasure of working with and my only complaint is that he isn't in San Francisco. If I could, I would work weekly with Joe, as I'm confident he would ensure I meet all of my fitness goals.
If you have the opportunity, I cannot encourage you enough to schedule time with Joe.

As my time in the 30’s comes to an end and 40 is right around the corner, I recognized the critical need to pay closer attention to my health now more than ever. With a history of heart disease in my family and cholesterol levels slightly above where they should be despite being in average shape, it was time to make a concentrated investment in my health. Sitting out one evening in Eagleview Town Center, a friend mentioned Passion for Fitness and the incredible results he had achieved by working with the experienced and knowledgeable trainers at PFF. I delayed the decision for a few months, but recently took that step forward to a healthier lifestyle. Understanding that the physical component is only one aspect of a well- balanced lifestyle, I began adjusting my nutrition and consulted with a cardiologist solely based upon my family history. In my first 7 weeks, I dropped just under 8 pounds. Participation with both personal training sessions coupled with the available classes, has made me realize this journey is taking me down a much better path. Our health often times is pushed to the back burner with a lack of time being the primary reason. My time at PFF is now part of my routine because I have made it a priority. I have already seen and believe I will continue to see the results I expect.

I've been lucky enough to have been coming to PFF for over 2 years now. The trainers here have been nothing but excellent. I have a form of Cerebral Palsy called Spastic Diplegia and originally just wanted a way to get more activity in my week but they took the time to know me and my disability. Now i'm walking better, standing taller, and feel better about myself then ever before. I'm so glad I decided to reach out to Joe and his team! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Why did I join Passion for Fitness? A couple reasons, first off, the owner Joe is a neighbor of mine in Eagleview and we were talking about what gym I belong too and at the time I had stopped my membership at another gym due to the intensity of the bootcamp and overall program for someone over 50 with knee and low back issues. Joe talked to me for 30 minutes about the back, how it works and how we prone to injury the back is if we don't learn to workout correctly. I joined and saw and felt immediate benefits. Then it happened, I was traveling for work, 8 weeks on the road, three to four days a week at least, not good for the back. I ended up in the ER 2x within a month for 10/10 pain in my low back. I herniated one or two Lumbar discs. Ouch! Joe had me come in two times a week to learn how to help heal the herniation and begin to "load" correctly, understand what was happening to my lower back. With knowledge came power and improvement. This is the first time I could see and feel my back healing. After two weeks, multiple sessions and doing my homework/exercises at home, i can now see myself having a healthy back and getting back to the activities I enjoy in life. I live in Eagleview, if you do, get to Passion For Fitness, its not a "pop-up" fad gym, its not a "cross fit" model that only promotes over use of muscles and can cause injury, but a method of healing and gaining strength, core, and confidence! The staff is engaging, passionate and extremely well knowledgeable on all aspects of being healthy from workouts to nutrition, they have you covered! Phew....I have a new, old back and thrilled!

I was looking for help to regain mobility to improve performance in a variety of sports after suffering many injuries. In 2 months, i have already achieved measurable performance gains. The training staff is respectful of the issues associated with injuries. The training is laid out as a journey ensuring the motions are done correctly and then gradually loaded with weights. Joe's knowledge of how the body works and how it compensates for injuries/lack of flexibility is second to none. This has been exactly what i needed and recommend it to any athlete with nagging injuries or flexibility issues that wants to train for performance. In addition, the small group classes are excellent. Joe's "honking" bike is innovative and effective. Its cool to be at a place on the cutting edge of fitness, both technology and methodology.

I have been attending Passion for Fitness for over 7 months. I started with personal training then small group training. I've tried getting into shape by myself several times over the years but never stuck with it. Going to training helps keep me accountable and motivated. In small group training I lift weights, and do body weight exercises. My trainer is always reminding me to use good form and pushing me to try harder. They have dumbbells, kettle bells, bikes and TRXs so I can do a variety of exercises. The trainers there, worked with me to adjust exercises to my ability. I've gotten stronger, improve my posture and overall health.

I started working with Joe and his team because after trying to work out both with and without personal trainers for many years and not getting much results, I realized that I needed help from someone who really knew what they where doing. This time, it was even more critical than ever before to get good help, because I was recovering from a major surgery.
So I decided to give Joe a try with 2 trial sessions.
Due to my disability, I have many limitations in mobility and flexibility, but the real problem was that until I met Joe, noboby had the knowledge or experience to really guide me on how to improve those circumstances. From the very first session, Joe carefully observed my motions, and was able to not only explain in great detail why I had certain limitations, but precisely how I could overcome them. For the past 2 months, I have been seeing Joe and his team for 3-5 sessions/week, and I now feel and move better than I ever thought possible. Not only are Joe and his team very knowledgable, and observant, but they truly care. They even help me get in and out of my car on snowy/icy days.

Passion for Fitness is not your average chain fitness studio. They specialize in personal training and small classes. So far I can only review the personal training part of it.
It starts slow with assessments according to FMS (Function Movement System). This helps avoid injuries and picking the right exercises for you. Due to the assessments I felt slightly underwhelmed at first. I couldn't wait to get started working out hard. But it got hard really quick after the assessment.
They really know how to push you to the max of your current ability without pushing you too hard.
Joe, the owner, makes your personal well-being, giving you the right program, avoiding injuries and achieving weight-loss goals his personal mission.
On my part, I am looking forward to every session.

If you are looking for a different kind of trainer, Passion for Fitness is your place. Joe , Tim and staff are unlike any trainers I have ever worked with in the past. What separates them from the rest is mostly their incredible knowledge, observational skills and their individualized approach. The focus is on correct form, preventing injury and moving forward at your own pace. Joe starts with a thorough functional assessment and then devises an individualized plan based on your needs. Honestly, at first it felt slow but as I progressed I began to trust their process !
I initially came to PFF a few weeks before I was having my left knee replaced. I returned after the surgery and months of Physical Therapy but wish I had returned a bit earlier. I honestly think I get a much more individualized, thoughtful treatment regimen from Joe than I did with the PT, which was a fairly "cookie cutter" approach.
I have significant amount of weight to lose but have already lost over 20 lbs and feel like I am moving in the right direction again. The staff are enthusiastic, encouraging and nonjudgmental. You sense they want you to do well and are invested in helping you reach your fitness goals and move towards health. You won't be disappointed with PFF !!

I'm absolutely thrilled to introduce Passion for Fitness. They are located in Phoenixville, PA and Exton, PA. Joe , Tim and the team are amazing trainers. When I walked into gym , I felt like a noodle, no strength and low self confidence. Joe right away recognized my situation and he was so knowledgeable , I was so happy that someone actually understands my struggle. Today , I'm already seeing major improvements. And the Honking classes are an incredible, butt-kicking cardio burn. You have to try out the honking bikes to know what I mean, they are incredible and like nothing you have tried before! All of the workout NONE of the lower back pain. I cannot say enough good things about Joe and his "Passion for Fitness!"

I have been going to PFF for about 3 mos now and I am so glad I joined. I had been working out for 30 years and after all that time I have finally found the "smart" way to train. Joe and his team are very knowledgeable and the sessions are personalized to my long term goals. A year ago, I Googled "personal trainer, weight loss, Chester County" and found PFF. I now consider myself incredibly lucky to have found the answer to my life long weight loss and fitness struggles. Familiar with Crossfit (I did it for months, so I am)? Joe provides almost the polar opposite approach to fitness. Form. Form. Form. I had no idea how terrible my form (both in and out of the gym) actually was and I am no novice to fitness.
The approach they employ is 100% tailored to each individual and Joe is an absolute wealth of knowledge ranging from nutrition to physiology. I left sweating after each session with a readily noticeable bolstering of core strength.
Is it cheap? No. But, how much does your long-term health matter? Not just losing 10 pounds before bathing suit season, but addressing underlying issues which may adversely impact your life further down the road.
You can do your own research and attempt a lot of this on your own, but there are such incredibly subtle changes in movements that can have tremendous impacts on your fitness - and some of those changes sometimes need to be taught in person.
I went once per week as Joe suggested to both get a feel for his services, but also for economic reasons ($$$). Just once per week gave me enough to more effectively guide my independent workouts.

I have been working with Joe and Passion for Fitness for about a year now. I used to suffer a lot of lower back and knee pain, mostly from imbalances, working posture, and improper form on a lot of exercises. Working with them has put an end to the knee and back pain, and I have noticed a huge improvement over the year in my ice hockey performance. The Tuesday night kettle bell class is not only fun, but very rewarding. The instructors are all extremely friendly and always put safety first.

I have been going to Passion for fitness (ppf) for almost a year now, it's definitely one of the BEST decisions I've made. Joe and his team of trainers are motivational, and transformational. I am an endurance runner and started getting into the ultra running scene last year. Training at ppf has allowed me to run those long miles injury free! I am a stronger now, than I have ever been - thanks to ppf. The routines are switched up constantly so you never get bored or tired of the same old thing. They always accommodate adjustments to schedules if needed. I highly recommend training with Joe and his team of personal trainers. If you want results and achieve your goals - this is the place.

I first met with Joe Ransom and his team in July 2014 when I was approaching the big 60 in the fall. My goal was to hit that birthday feeling better than I did at ten years earlier. I also wanted to get my balance back and walk down the stairs each morning without hurting. I have gone through 24 workout sessions with Joe and his team and the results have far exceeded my expectations. I enjoy the professional approach and the education and learning the last three months. Working out at Passion For Fitness beats any gym I have used. I can honestly say I feel better than I did 20 years ago let alone 10. My experience has been great and I am hooked.

I had been inactive for a really long time before I came to Joe and felt pretty bad most of the time. After losing 25 lbs. in last 2 months I feel so much better and I am finally getting healthy. It has become about so much more than losing weight. As my fitness level and everyday mobility has improved I feel so much better and I can't imagine going back to the way things were before. I was tentative at first about making the financial commitment but after these last few months I know that it was money well spent and I will definitely be continuing. I would say the best thing about joe and all the trainers is that maximize your time and effort so that you get the most out of every session. I know that if had just been working out on my own I would never have achieved the results I have had with them. I was looking for an alternative to a team sport for my teenage son when I came across Passion for Fitness. After reviewing their program with Joe Ransom, I decided to sign-up too. We started with a fitness assesment and then set goals based on the results. We both wanted to lose weight, gain strenght and become more heart healthy. Joe and his team put together a program that was geared torward our goals. My son and I changed are eating habits by decreasing our calories (based on Joe's recommendation) and made healthier food choices. Joe and his trainers were excellent at pushing us to our limits, working all muscle groups with multiple exercises, keeping our hearts pumping, all while stressing proper form and technic. After 24 sessions in 8 weeks my son lost 10% of his weight and I lost 8.5%. We both feel much stronger and better about our health and fitness. My oldest son just returned from college for the summer and I signed him up too. I don't think you can put a price on your health and teaching you children the importance of their health. I highly recommend Passion for Fitness and thank Joe and his team for the great job they do each day!

Started January of 2012 working out with the trainers at Passion For Fitness to work on muscle imbalances and improve my all over fitness. As an avid runner, I had cardiovascular endurance but needed some help with strengthening and stretching. I have been struggling with injuries for quite a few years which left me frustrated and unhappy. After 6 months at Passion For Fitness, I have learned so much and found that working out with weights is the key staying healthy and injury free! I enjoy working with all the trainers; each focused on helping me reach my specific goals. I added the Boot Camps and Honking Cycling Class to challenge myself and cut back on the weekly running miles. I feel better than ever thanks to Passion For Fitness!!!
