I cancelled my membership with this location today and I was a member of this gym off and on for over ten years. There were always issues at this location such as the televisions rarely working properly without audio and customer service often being non-existent. While I attempted to work out tonight another member was recording me with their phone. I looked straight at this individual as they were doing this and they continued to record with their phone. Personally, I did not feel safe for a while working out at this gym and tonight was the final straw. I have never felt so uncomfortable. When I went to cancel, the front desk did not even ask why. After this experience, I will never join a Planet Fitness.

Recently I encountered a situation at the Montgomeryville (Horsham Rd), PA location where a fellow member took a picture of me while working out and then proceeded to show me and taunted me while at the gym, following me around from machine to machine. Upon realizing this, I was mortified (seeing as I am a young women) and (in tears) worked up the courage to approach the front desk and request support. Lea and Curtis were at the front desk at the time and comforted me while telling my story and took to my concern immediately. Within the next day I spoke with Giana and sat down with Chris (another PF member) to proceed with an incident report to document the occurrence. Following that, another manager at Planet Fitness called me again to confirm that the individual was spoken to and made sure that I was taken care of. This situation was HANDLED ALL WITHIN A WEEK. I felt that I was heard by management, taken seriously by the staff, and protected by Curtis at this Planet Fitness location. There is true value in retaining a staff that cares about their clientele, takes their job seriously and enforces proper policies and procedures thoroughly. I can continue working out at this location and know that I am safe and that I am heard thanks to the Planet Fitness team!!

10/12/25 update: Gym was supposed to open at 7AM today. Myself and others waited until about 8:30am and no one showed up to open. Called at 9am, no answer. Called again around 9:15am and apparently it had finally opened then. This is not the first time the employee scheduled to open the gym was super late or never showed up. So unprofessional. Zero communication given to members about it. We called other nearby locations and they had no idea either. Unacceptable and poorly run. I used to go to 2 other planet fitness locations for many years and this never happened at them. At this location it's happened at least 3 times in last last year or two.

10/29/24 update: Their "crowd meter" is way off and inaccurate. All the other locations show significant amount of the bar filled at peak hours before and after work, but this location shows 1 or 2 bars 24/7. It's clearly not calibrated properly. It's probably missing areas by the weight machines and free weights and going off cardio.

9/21/24 update: After expressing my concern to the gym manager, nothing has changed. The music is still too loud in certain areas of the gym. If you sign up, do yourself a favor and buy active noise canceling headphones, otherwise you'll have to hear garbage background music while listening to your own music/podcasts. She continues to cater to the 5% of gym members who don't wear headphones.

2/6/24 update: Music is still way too loud. Loud in the sense that it's hard to listen to my own music and almost impossible to listen to podcasts without putting my headphones at uncomfortably loud levels to drown out the gym music. Management a long time ago told me they have it on for people that don't wear headphones which is next to no one! The music should be at a low volume or not on at all.

6/8/22 update: Music is even louder now (yesterday's visit)! Why the heck is it so loud??? 99% of members are listening to their own music on their headphones. This is super annoying. If they don't come prepared with their own music - that's their problem. Don't make the rest of us have to deal with it! Just adjust the gym music volume to low.

4/21/22 another issue: I wish they'd lower the volume of music playing. 90% of gym members have headphones on anyway. This seems to be a problem at every location. It should be at half the volume level it currently is.

New Year’s Day 2022: Hours posted on door, website, and google search all show open at 7am. Got there at 8am, doors locked and no answer when calling. 8:30: still locked, no answer. Super annoying! Almost 9am now, still locked and no answer. About to give up and go home. Other than that it’s been a decent gym with newly renovated locker rooms and equipment usually in working order. 1/3/22 update: Spoke w/ the manager Danielle and she froze my January payment to make up for the inconvenience. Good for her for resolving the matter and providing good service. She's been very professional. Thankfully this location has good management unlike some other locations I used to visit.

I cancelled my probably close to decade long membership today- I was being recorded and having pictures taken of me inside of this gym by another member. I spoke to a manager onsite and was told to send an email to the general manager- Lea. An email was sent with proof (of the actual videos and pictures he took) to Lea and the manager I spoke to onsite about these incidents. I never received a response from her- even after I sent a follow up email a few days later. I had to go in today personally to follow up- only to be told that he was issued a warning and that if he ever did it again he would then be banned. I do not feel comfortable going somewhere that I have to constantly watch to see if I’m being recorded. There is a complete disregard for your safety and wellbeing here, and their lack of follow up is unprofessional. This is not a safe space.

I used to love this gym and gave it 5 stars 4 years ago — but unfortunately, things have seriously gone downhill. Almost every time I come in now, there’s no one at the front desk to assist guests. Today I’ve been waiting over 15 minutes, and all they leave is a sign telling you to “call for help” — the number doesn’t even work.

It’s incredibly frustrating, especially when you have a simple question or need access help. The lack of staff presence and accountability is unacceptable for a business that claims to offer great customer service. I finally updated my review to 1 star because this is not a one-time issue — it’s become the norm.

But I must say, I am impressed with both the frequency and thoroughness of the cleaning staff. I am not saying you won’t find the occasional dust ball here or there, this isn’t a surgical clean room, its a gym. And for being a gym, I have seen this staff elevate treadmills halfway in the air, physically shift and move heavy equipment to clean the hard to get nooks and crannies. Very impressed. Keep up the good work, and more importantly, thank you. You made my “very” early morning workout just that more enjoyable.

Only complaint was no online option to cancel. You have to go in person or mail a hand written letter. I had moved and the nearest gym was 2hrs away. I didn't have a post office that close by either and no way to drive to one. Made canceling a nightmare. Otherwise I recommend this gym. Didn't feel judged, very convenient hours, staff is always nice and helpful, you get discounts and you can go to many locations, even use tanning rooms or massage chairs or hydra massage bed if your location has them. If I live closer to one again. I would go back. I just wish they would make a online cancel option. If you can sign up online you should be able to cancel online.

I just signed in last week and thinking of changing the gym already. The place is good with plenty of space available. They have many varieties of equipment and all are maintained in good condition. But they don't have a barbell and free-weight plates for bench presses, squats, and deadlifts. When asked I was told to use the Smith Machine for these exercises. Really?!

It's great for the price of membership. I hate the newer weight machines compared to the old ones though. I've been disappointed ever since. I don't think they observed trends when they got all new equipment either. Especially the pec fly machine- they were always taken when there was two and they cut it down to one. It's never available unless you wait for it and that's awkward. Also I used to go on Saturday and Sunday nights around 7 or 8 but they're closed now I imagine since there's not enough people to work in society. Not their fault but a big bummer to me.

Horrible customer service!
On 11/2/23 at 10:30pm, I approached the front desk to ask questions, there was one male and female employee were working, i asked the male staff question, about the class program/schedule, he had ear bud in his ears and didnt listen to what i said, he took it out of ears and have me to repeat, i understood and repeated, he didn’t seem like he knew the answer so he asked the female staff who was couple steps away from him , i heard him saying “she’s asking about the design your own program” but she also took ear buds out of ear and came to me “what did you ask?” , i asked him if he heard what i said, he DENIED. after i heard him repeating what i said. At that point, i was really annoyed, they were completely unprofessional, having me repeat 3 times, i said you guys keep making me repeat and have ear buds in ears not listening! Im not going to keep repeating even the first time, i understood but honestly they should have taken out ear buds when they saw the client was approaching. And this female employee snapped at and said “it doesn’t matter if you have to repeat blah blah.” And i just turned around and left, instead of apologizing or anything, she just sarcastically said “good bye” with tone of voice! Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional attitude!

I just signed up a month ago. My mom also joined when I joined. The front desk staff members are helpful, and always greet you with smiles. I like that they don't have personal trainers and don't push you to sign up for expensive training. The membership fee is only $10 a month! They do have more expensive option, but I'm personally very happy with my $10 membership.

Equipments are new and plentiful. The gym is kept clean and never gets too crowded. I don't think they offer classes, but it has 30 minute circuit area where you can do your own HIIT workout.

The hours are awesome! They open before other gyms and close after other gyms, which is great for me, as I work evenings. The gym is actually open 24 hours Mon-Thur. Although, I do wonder why anyone would want to work out at 3am. Sleep is important for health, people!! I personally think that, instead of keeping the gym open for 24 hours, just open from 4am-12am on most days; and on weekend, close a little bit later at, like 8pm instead of at 7pm.

All in all, I love this gym so far. Today, I went to get a haircut, and the hairdresser wanted to know which gym I go to. She asked this most randomly, because I hadn't even brought up the subject of working out. So, I guess all the workouts I've been doing show

This gym Will force you to only use your checking account for payments. They will essentially draw money anytime They feel fit, even if your membership was supposed to be closed or frozen.

Front desk folks are always really friendly. Parking is easy anytime I head in, and the windows and lighting all around the building make me feel safe going in and out as a single female. On Monday, December 19, 2022, after a long workout, as I was walking out to my car, Lindsey said "have a good day". I replied, "I'm returning to use the massage chairs". I returned not even three minutes later, and Lindsey and Grayson asked to scan the barcode, so they would know my first and last name. Weird! Why would two employees need to know my first and last name, when I frequent the location, and returned to use the massage chairs? Lindsey also had a problem with me personally using more than one massage chair more than once. As a black card member, why would it be a problem to use the massage chairs more than once? I see the white members use it several times before exiting the facility and there is never an issue. Why is there an issue with a Black woman doing the same?

On Monday, January 16, 2023, Lindsey and Kendra walked into the ladies' locker room and asked me to turn the volume down on my phone. I was actually listening to inspirational motivational speeches that appeared to be offended by some unhappy, miserable, and angry white female members. Lindsey claimed it was too loud and the policy doesn't permit cell phone use in the ladies' locker room. I reminded Lindsey of our first interaction regarding asking for my full name, and that she should be mindful that most members don't follow the rules at all, especially in the locker room. In addition, I said that I will turn the sound down. The net day I decided to not turn it on because I can’t deal with mental health issues of members and employees of the facility. All I need to do is workout, leave, and evidentially cancel my membership by turning my home into the fitness center of my dreams – so I don’t have to deal with the mental health crisis in public spaces.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, I returned; after my shower, while doing my hair, Lindsey showed up with another worker to laugh, mock, and make ignorant comments. You can’t make this stuff up. I had lost 17 pounds and a massive amount of inches, and now there is an issue with listening to motivational speeches in the ladies’ locker room. A place for the public, where most women do whatever the want for a temporary period. Instead of one of the members saying “hey, your video is too loud, can you turn it down?”, a complaint is directed to the front desk like I was being confrontational, and I had no idea inspirational motivational speeches was offensive to anyone.

Now as I depart, I see two adult employees / owners of planet fitness sitting by the front desk. Wow. I often wonder if the same treatment was afforded to white members. And If I didn’t comply, there are now four members of the facility there to confront me about playing inspirational motivational videos in a public locker room for women.

The entire situation reminded me of "Black faces in white spaces". I'm more than sure the no cell phone usage in locker room policy was implemented to target Black members. The White members do whatever they want, no one complains, and the employees don't police their actions. Lindsey is a bully and a racist, and I'm more than sure the owner and her gang are as well. Why am I paying for such harassing and negative treatment?

Staff always meet you with a hello upon arrival and goodbye when leavening . I have never failed to see someone dusting, sanitizing the floors, and organizing the equipment, they actually move equipment, not just clean around them.

3 stars because music is too loud.

Today was my first day in and already noticed music is just too loud. 99% of people listen to their own music or podcasts, so gym music is not needed or pick music with no words like piano music.
