Most of the equipments are nice, the staff is fine, but: I just do not feel safe at this gym. On my first month training here, someone tried to break into my lock in the locker room but failed and left it broken there. I communicated it to the front desk, and they basically said "🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe avoid leaving valuable things in the locker room"

I changed my entire routine to accommodate not being able to use the locker room, and started to use their smaller outside lockers, since I thought they would be safer just from being exposed to cameras. Guess what happened today? Lock itself was stolen. I once again went to the front desk to ask about it, and once again the answer was "🤷🏻‍♂️". If you're able to come and not bring anything with you, I still wouldn't recommend it because meh; if you have to store things at this gym, choose another.

On Sept 15, 2025, I arrived at Planet Fitness at 2 PM. By 2:30 PM — just 30 minutes later — I received an alert of suspicious activity: a $620 charge at DTLR down the street. My Planet Fitness–issued lock had been broken off, and my firearm and cards stolen.

Employees admitted they’d just been told someone was back there messing with lockers — but they never checked, never stopped it, and never warned members. While I called police (took 3 calls and 3 hours for a supervisor), the thief had already made it 30 minutes away to Germantown and used my cards again.

Planet Fitness ignored warnings, failed to act, and refused to let me review footage. Completely unsafe and unacceptable.”

This is a solid urban Planet Fitness. It's clean, well-equipped, and has a friendly front desk staff. Also has the individual entertainment systems on the cardio machines and the extensive selection of strength equipment.

The Black Card amenities aren nice, including hybrid red light/tanning, traditional tanning, hydro massage, and massage chairs. I didn't see cold therapy chairs, but I understand those are new to some locations.

The locker rooms are large, as are the showers, though I wish they would provide soap. A quick heads-up: remember to bring a lock, as all lockers require one, even the day-use ones in the main workout area.

My personal wish for the brand is for it to eventually add more advanced strength-training tools like barbells, squat racks, sleds, and heavier dumbbells and kettlebells. However, there are plenty of weight plates to load onto the strength machines, which is helpful.

I just want to thank the planet fitness staff for giving me the environment to not feel judged as I go through my battle with diabetes, and agoraphobia. Had a doctor’s appointment across the street and needed a quick reset—so I popped in for a massage. Hit the chair, then the hydro. Just what the doctor should’ve ordered. Quick, easy, and totally what I needed.

The staff? Incredible. The young woman at the front desk during check-in? Absolutely stellar. Warm, friendly, on top of things—just really great energy. I genuinely enjoyed her vibe. Where did you find her? Can we clone her for other places?

Then there was the young man who passed me in the gym while I was checking the place out. Looked me dead in the eyes. Made real eye contact. Like, actual human connection. This generation? They usually avoid that like the plague—but not this guy. He made eye contact and said good morning. I am a morning person, so I am smiling and saying good morning, feels good when you get it back, puts alittle pep in the step 🙂

Just be advised that the cancellation “policy” is a complete shit show and can really screw you over. They force you to cancel in person at your home facility or “mail in a letter”?? I moved out of the country and forget to cancel before I left. They refused to give me another option. They said I had to fly back or mail in a letter across the world because “policy”….In this day and age, that’s ridiculous. It’s never too busy and in a nice location, and a good price imo.

However , some of the stairmaster machines have been “temporarily” out of order periodically for weeks. I exclusively use them. So I’m often left waiting in a queue because half the machines aren’t working. I’d expect such a thing to be addressed faster.

I joined this gym as my home gym maybe 2 1/2 years ago. The first year I didn't do any cardio I just lifted weights. Then I started doing cardio all sweaty with a place to go after , I went to take a shower. Cold water. Tried a different day it was a luke warm. Then cold again. Went to the front desk. Very unhelpful. So I switched to another planet fitness on 19th street got a trainer there but he quit. Called the 12th street planet fitness they said they have trainers there and their shower problem has been resolved BELIEVING THEM I went back to 12th street planet fitness. I really needed a trainer. Got there did cardio a few days hot water then back to cold. Is managent there for real??? How can you run a gym without providing hot water for people who pay for memberships? What if people have to go to work after being on the tread mill all smelly and sweaty? If your listening managent of planet fitness 12th street in your response WHEN WILL THE SHOWERS BE FIXED.

Homeless people use the club's locker room to charge their phones and go to the toilet.
PS and today they removed the lock in my locker room that I bought in this same club, and stole all the things that I left in the locker. the manager told me that if you need to, then call the police, but they themselves did nothing. not a club - but a garbage dump!

Gym employees are helpful and kind, and I've seen one that's always ready for conversation, advice and encouragement.

Unfortunately the people going in the gym are ruining the place. Gym locker room has roaches, and according to an employee people are "breaking off" locker doors and stealing the things inside. If you plan to use this gym I suggest getting a lock to protect your things. It's gotten so bad they gave employees sitting in the locker room watching people use the lockers. The shower curtain for the disabled shower is ripped and has been ripped for months now, no clue why they haven't replaced it, a shower curtain is pretty easy to replace and shouldn't be a problem. Ridiculous for a planet Fitness.

Been going since around 2021, a great deal for a gym in the city, but as of recently, it's felt really half-hearted. Staff doesn't respond to the bell that you need to ring to get in after 8pm, often aren't at the front desk, and try to close 10-15 mins early all the time, often ringing the alarm instead of respectfully using a loudspeaker or an intercom. Maybe check out other Planet Fitnesses in the city if available.

It is a good gym, at a “good” price: it has all the necessary equipment (although, sometimes, during peak periods, many of them are busy, which is normal); It is a clean place with a good atmosphere.

Nice people. Good fitness community. It is also in a central position.

Black card members can enjoy extra benefits such as half-price drinks, bringing one free guest per session, massage and whirlpool chairs, and other additional benefits.

The registration process, sometimes becomes somewhat tedious, and some relaxation equipment does not work correctly.

Update: If you are thinking about subscribing to Planet Fitness… don’t do it. The cancellation process is awful: you have to go in person to do it (and, believe me, you are gonna have to go more than one time to make sure they unsubscribed you).

Very Convenient Location to the office. I also want to acknowledge a staff member at this location. This past Monday, James took the time to assist a visually impaired PF member. For the entire hour I was on the treadmill, I saw James take the time to assist and instruct this member on how to use each piece of equipment. I have never seen that type of customer service in other gyms I have gone to. It was heartening to see such a kind and welcoming gesture from a member of your staff.

Really wish they would remove the tiny tv screens in front of everything. Feels like you’re in a rat cage. I have to put a towel over the screen because it’s so reflective. Honestly the price is right and the place gets the job done. It’s been clean everytime I’ve come and I don’t have to wait tooo long for equipment. This is a great, basic gym. The staff are generally very friendly and welcoming. The staff is a big plus here. Lots of basic equipment. I’m a black card member mostly for the hydro massage chairs, which are great after every workout. What an experience.
I went to ask to be able to use the massage chair and the nice lady in the front desk couldn’t find my account since I have an Acct through active and fit. After a lot of work she finally found my acct but for some reason it had expired, she ask for help to her coworker JOHN and he was just an awful person, treated her awful and treated me awful. He thinks he knows it all and wouldn’t even let the Poor girl talk and would force her to agree with him even if he was wrong, she kept apologizing to me cause we both knew he was wrong. He called me an ignorant and to go to other planet fitness because at “HIS” planet fitness they don’t make mistakes and that I was giving false information when he just refused to listen to either me or his coworker. Sadly I don’t remember the girls name, but she deserves a raise for having so much patience with such awful coworker. I hope someone higher up gets to talk to this person and gives him some advice on how to treat his coworkers and costumers.

Fairly new Planet Fitness. Enjoy it so far as it isn't packed as others during peak times. Good job of keeping it clean and supplied with cleaning solutions, recyclable paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms. Haven't used PF+ Black Card benefits at this location as of yet (massaging chair, hydro bed, etc).

I've been exercising here for just over a year now and it's been great. Most importantly people who work there are friendly, helpful and personable. It was John who first signed me up a year ago and he's a total professional.

Also, it doesn't matter whether you go at 5am or 9pm --everything great about PF is consistent. The gym is always spotless. The bathrooms are always clean too. And every piece of equipment I've ever used has worked. Even little details that other gyms can miss aren't missed here--things like ceiling fans, massage beds / chairs always work.

Sad that I had to cancel my membership after so many years due to unreliable staff, I can’t tell you how many times I show up to gym early morning and their was no staff inside to let me in or other members. I just can’t tolerate that anymore especially when you have a fitness routine, this situation has been the downside of this location for awhile now and I brought it to the manager attention back 10 months ago so it’s nothing new. So my advice to everyone that join or are members of this location, to be prepared for the unexpected if you working out early morning and their no staff there during hours of operation..

Agree with the others here. If you go between 5-6am….there’s a greater than 50% chance you’re not getting in or have to stand there for 10-20 mins hitting that button and calling them. If you go after 6:30am then you should be fine. I did get a City Fitness membership instead for this reason.

This gym has gone down a lot in terms of its conditions. There are way too many young people who have memberships; they play around too much on the floors and they set in front of equipment talking for long periods of time when not using the machines. Plus my locker was broken into. Someone jacked my padlock of with something that was able to break in. Way too many lockers have dents in them to be safe, even for a padlock. I have been to other locations and it seems like the issue is going on not just at this particular location. So be aware of using lockers and if you do, please don’t lock away anything valuable. It’s not secure at all.

July 2023. If you work out early in the mornings, do not expect their staff to be there early in the morning. Within the entire month of going there, the staff have been late twice (from my experience). If this happens one more time, I am retiring my PF membership.

My gym experience in this location has been good so far, but the fact that I am missing out on my workout session because of tardiness kills my overall experience.
