⭐️ 2/5 — The renovation made the gym completely unusable during peak hours

I wanted to give the newly renovated Planet Fitness layout a fair chance before reviewing it, but after a couple of months, I can confidently say the change has made the gym extremely frustrating to use. I typically go between 4 PM and 8 PM, and during that entire window there are never any machines available that I need for my various routines. It’s not just me, tons of people are stuck waiting, often 2–3 people deep, just to use a single machine.

The redesign removed an entire row of machines and nearly all duplicates, which has only made the crowding worse, and some of the new machines are oddly difficult to adjust compared to the older ones. The machines are also no longer grouped by type or muscle area, but scattered all over the place which makes them difficult to find. The result is long lines, awkwardly hovering near equipment, and constantly being asked “how many reps do you have left?” while you’re just trying to work out.

I used to really enjoy this gym, but the new layout has made peak-hour workouts almost impossible. I hope they bring back more machines or rethink the failed floor plan, because right now it makes the experience pretty miserable.

I moved out of state a year ago and left a message for the manager or anyone in charge to call me back in regards my membership but no one has reached out, and every time I call now there's a weird message in I don't know what language but no option to get in touch with anyone at the front desk. Planet Fitness is great, but this is the 3rd time that i have gotten to the gym in the morning and they were not open today 10.27 they were a half hour late. Maybe you should think about getting key fob's so when it is 4 am you are able to get in.

Sadly, they made some big changes recently and now there is only one thigh abductor/adductor machine which I have had to stand in line for nearly every time. Each person taking almost 10 minutes or more to do their sets. There used to be two thigh adductors and two thigh abductors. Also, there is only one leg curl machine now (there were 2-3 before) and it’s either taken almost every time I go (doesn’t matter what time), or 50% of the time it is “out of order.” Every time I go after 3:30 pm on a weekday, there are a ton of teenagers standing around one machine, and it’s incredibly hard to get anything done. Absolutely not worth the money for the Black card . I am looking for other gyms now.

I wanted to kindly suggest turning up the temperature a bit. The gym feels quite cold, and it makes it harder to warm up and work out effectively. A slightly warmer environment would help prevent injuries and improve performance. Thank you for considering this!

I was racially profiled by one of the staff at this gym… please tell me why this girl immediately assumed that Im not a black card member and went on to charge me 3.71 for a Gatorade that was supposed to be 1.75 which I didn’t care about but what bothered me was that if she wasn’t sure why did she not ask me if I had a black card membership or not to verify and as far as I understand there shouldn’t be any confusion either way since I was using the card on the system to pay ,doesn’t it show that I have a black card membership or not on the system? It felt as though I was judged according to my appearance yet its a no judgement zone.

Love everything about this gym...except the teens! It's really gotten out of control. My co worker and I jokingly call this gym the day care because of how many young kids are here unsupervised. Just the other day walking in a minivan pulled in WAY TOO FAST for a parking lot and slams the brakes out front and 5 teen boys pile out and mom speeds off... It's honestly our of control. Right now as I write this there's 6 boys crowded around one machine. No one is actually working out, just sitting on it chit chatting and blocking the pathways. I think planet fitness really needs to tighten up there regulations on underages being here alone. It's not a hang out or child care facility. So frustrating.

I think the staff are great and the cleanliness of the gym is great. The machines are really nice and I enjoy going very much. Planet Fitness has helped change my life and lifestyle for the better.

The only thing that frustrates me with my gym is the amount of teenagers that just sit around on machines doing nothing every late afternoon and early evening. There should be rules in place and they should be enforced. This is not a social time where you can take up stations to chat or sit on the station on your phone for 10 minutes. I've watched this countless times. I'm not sure what the fix is but there has to be something done or adults will start leaving if they can't get their workout done.

The more I go to Planet fitness's, the more isolated you feel since they have tried to create a gym environment of a " no judgment zone." Like I've said in all of my reviews about Planet fitnesses, they are by far the worst gym that you could go to, especially if you are first starting to work out. If you go to any gym other than Planet Fitness, there are tons of people that will try to help you and will correct you if you are lifting or doing something wrong. Planet Fitness? It is frowned upon, an unintentional byproduct of a very liberal mindset? Who knows, but if you want to learn and to grow and develop, Planet Fitness is not the gym you would do that in.
It gets two stars because it's equipment is clean, and for the most part is functional. Also it has established itself as the McDonald's of the gems as you can find this on either Coast or Midwest. So if you do travel a lot this membership could be something you would invest in.

I just joined PF and so far, have felt welcomed and encouraged at the Souderton facility. The Trainer, John, listened carefully to my concerns as we develop my fitness program after several years away from a regular routine. He seems to understand where I am in my journey, and I look forward to working with him! The Club is clean, thoughtfully laid-out, and very lively.

Need to be smart with time of workout, as it usually becomes a day care between 4 and 7pm…
Addendum: while I realize that the goal of any business is to make a profit, most businesses get lost while on that mission. Case in point: too many kids that simply clog equipment and weights, is a major turn off to grown ups who are mostly Black Card members. We pay more for a better product/service. Yet we don’t get that added benefit bc we are constantly waiting on the group of 2,3,4 teenagers that spend 80% of their time talking, 10% of their time making sure their hair is on point and 10% of actual work. Meanwhile I have to go on a bike to kill time… problem is that it’s getting worse…

Being a member at Planet Fitness is nice because the workers allow themselves to help you when needed. They try to make sure you have and know everything you need before you get started. I personally recommend getting the black card membership so you don't go in alone. With the black card I was able to talk to a trainer to personalize a routine that would help me reach my goal, ontop of the tanning and massage aspects which I use every week.

If I was paying only for the basic card I would definitely give 5 stars but as I'm paying $15 more per month ($25) for the extra benefits of the black card I have to give 2 stars as I don't feel I get what I'm paying extra for. I like to use their Total Body Enhancement machine but nobody seems to know how to operate the vibration part of the session as you just get the red light therapy part of the session. I've also seen a video online (not a Planet Fitness video)explaining how to use the machine and the Planet Fitness in the video has posters in the room showing instructions on how to use all option modes for the machine. But the Souderton location doesn't. I also like to workout in the early morning/middle of the night since I work overnight but if you come in the middle of the night it's hard to find the associate if you want to use the extras like Total Body Enhancement, tanning or the massage chairs. You would think that they would have a buzzer at the front desk if you want to use the extras that you pay $15 extra per month for...So I have to say that I'm not a very happy Planet Fitness Black Card member. I hate to leave a bad review but someone needs to or it won't get any better. Hopefully I will be able to update my review soon....

Signed my 15 year old up for a membership. Went in with him the first time under his own membership and specifically asked the girl at the front desk if I had to sign a waiver for him, she said no. I said, are you sure. She replied, nope you're all good. He went again that week alone, no problem. Today, he goes and they won't let him in because the waiver I asked about wasn't signed. Wouldn't allow me to give consent over the phone because I'm at work and he walked 2 miles to get there. I'm all for policies but maybe your staff should read your website like I did and then she would have know about the waiver also.

I just wanted to share how pleasant and welcoming the nighttime crew is. (Rob & Chris). It’s nice to come for a late night workout and have people that are happy to be working there. They always have a bright smile on their face and always ready for a conversation. As a women going to the gym late at night they make sure I make it to my car safely as well making sure my experience is always top-notch.
They’re very dedicated and always cleaning & making sure I don’t need anything and when I do they both spring up to help with no problem at all.
