The carlisle and Hanover locations are really nice but im not sure whats going on with mechanicsburg. Main complaint is that theres no hot water in the showers but the locker room seem neglected in general. That said I see someone cleaning almost every day when I go to the carlisle location.

I wish I could give zero stars. This gym is the biggest rip off. My nephew who is 18 and unfortunately entered a contract with this gym. He paid a cancellation fee of 103 and still is being billed monthly. They took 148 again today from his account. I do not understand how they get away with it. Now he has to go get a new debit card to stop the payments.

I had an incredibly uncomfortable and frankly alarming experience at this gym. I came in under the impression that I could use my cousin’s guest pass—he’s the actual member and has brought me before. When I arrived, I clearly explained to the front desk staff that I was his cousin and believed I was on his guest list. After a brief exchange, the woman at the front desk told me I was “good to go.”

During this conversation, an older, bald-headed white man (who I assume is the manager or owner) was sitting right there and said nothing at the time. As I was walking toward the stairs to begin my workout, he followed me and told me that I couldn’t be there without my cousin present. I acknowledged the mistake and was willing to leave without issue.

However, instead of handling the situation professionally, this man escalated it unnecessarily and said he should press charges against me for fraud. This was not only shocking but extremely excessive, especially considering I was transparent and believed I had permission to be there.

There was no intent to deceive or misuse the guest pass I relied on the front desk’s direction. The entire situation could’ve been resolved with a respectful conversation rather than threats. I left feeling targeted.

I tried for a few days to reach this gym and couldn’t get ahold of someone on the phone.

When I arrived I was let in my another member. I told them I needed to see the inside of the gym before I wanted to purchase a guest pass without even being able to see what equipment was available.

When I went inside I found that this place had been TERRIBLY taken care of, and was rarely staffed at all.

Two of the stalls in the bathroom were out of order. The benches and seats are all falling apart in everything. And nothing was clean at all.

The water in the water fountain tasted like the filter hadn’t been changed since 1978 and was probably a safety hazard to drink and the vending machines are empty.

I left absolutely disappointed in what’s happened to this place.

Love this gym! The quality inside is very nice and everyone is pretty friendly and lets you do your own thing. One of my favorite pieces of equipment is the cable machine that I use to work my triceps for a pulldown and extension, a killer workout! The two things I think that would make this gym a 5 star for me is some more maintenance on the equipment, the machines especially. Multiple pieces have some wear and tear on them and look a bit damaged, like the pectoral fly machine which has its chord attached to the plates disconnected from the metal pole that lets you select your weight. The other is someone greeting you at the door. I know most of the time whoever is at the front is usually cleaning around the area of the gym, but a friendly face greeting you would be a great way to start a workout and feel motivated to push yourself. All in all, great gym and I will be happy to keep coming back!

Up date 11-10-2022 As of now I have not received the refund the Gym promised to me below. They wrote to the attorney general saying they were going to give both gym memberships a 3-month refund. This never happened and they never contacted me directly in anyway. To let you all know they lie to me as well to the Attorney General's office is a window in how this business operates. Join at your own risk.
A month ago, I was mailed a check from the credit card company that I closed the account to. It was a check for $15.00. The check had no note to it or name attached or for what it was for. Two weeks later a statement was sent to me from the credit card company of the closed account. It showed Platinum Fitness sent the $15.00 dollars to me as a refund to the card.
That’s about it. This company is a real big loser when it comes to business and customer service, problem solving or communication of any kind. ~ Regards!

This gym I never joined. Previously it was called N.Y. Fitness run by an owner named Karl. In 2021 my husband became ill and we went to Karl to end our membership. Karl said he would take care of it right away but apparently he never did. He wouldn't offer us a paper to sign to end our membership. Since he was closing the gym and selling it I just concluded our membership was certainly done.

January 1, 2022 my husband passed away. Not long after that, in January I got the credit card bill that showed a membership fee was charged on our card. I had no idea who or what this fee was for but later found out. It took me 3 days of calling different number to find out this was a gym membership called Platinum Fitness.

I spoke to Atle, the manager. She refused to refund my husbands membership fee. Said:" they don't refund membership fees." I told her that this is a different situation since my husband has died. Her response to me was: "she didn't care about my situation." I suspect they think it is proper to charge a dead man a membership fee? Well I don't and I'm taking this issue further.

I contacted the Attorney Generals office and filed a complaint. They mailed a copy of my complaint to them and there has been no response from them. I'm told if they don't' respond then I should take them to small claims court if I chose to do so. I know I will, just so it will be on public record on how sleezy this business is. Join a different gym, not this one.

I’ve been a member since Platinum took ownership from the previous New York Fitness facility. Initially the equipment was worn and needed maintenance during the first few months after the acquisition. However, Platinum ramped up their maintenance and repairs and since then the equipment has been kept in good condition. The only issue is that many benches and other seated equipment need upholstery work. The space is kept clean and members are pretty good at respecting the equipment and the other people around them.

I just started going here. I really love it. So many supportive people who work out here. I am brand new to the gym experience and I don't feel out of place here at all. My only critique is that the machines are definitely aged, which is common because of how frequently used they are. It may be time to upgrade some of them.

I was here when it was it was New York fitness. Then platinum took over and they have done a tremendous job. They keep it extremely clean. The picture is of the lat pull-down which is my favorite machine. So many ways to use it. Can go in front of your body or you can go behind the head with it. Platinum has done a fantastic job.

As someone who’s been working out for years, I know gyms can go through ups and downs. I’m here to say PF in Mechanicsburg is currently at the top of its game. They have a helpful staff and a clean, organized environment with more than adequate free weights, power racks, machines, and cardio equipment. Ok, we have been members since it was New York fitness. The gym is close and hours work for us. Now for the not ok, the place is filthy. Not just a little dirty, but omg dirty. My hands were dirtier after I washed them in the bathroom. The equipment has dust,hair, and God knows what else on it. C'mon instead of the desk attendant watching videos clean something, anything.

Equipment and freeweights are adequate but gym upkeep is sub par. One urinal in the men's room has been out of order for months, now they both are. Now today the only water fountain is out of order. Hard to get through a decent workout on a single bottle of water. Big disparity between Mechanicsburg and hanover.

Edit: urinals are fixed so that's solid. Can we get some machine handles rewrapped with hockey tape or something. Electrical tape is a bad choice and it's just falling off and sticky..

If I could give 0 I would! Cancelled my membership back when it was LA fitness and that was an ordeal. Thought everything was taken care of because this was over or about a year ago. Just checked my credit score and it went down pretty good due to a decently sized bill being sent to collections from Platinum, which it was $5 or something when I was with La fitness so guess we just never cancel memberships and screw up peoples credit scores. I tried to cancel my contract with the gym according to the cancelation clause. The manager was nice enough and told me they would cancel it no problem after I showed proof of sending my cancelation letter by certified mail, which was one of the requirements to cancel correctly. After I showed proof she then kicked it up to her boss who then made up all kinds of ridiculous reasons why they won't refund my money and accused me of lying. I was appalled at how I was treated. I'm still being charged.

The offered alternative was that I could buy out my contract, which would have meant no access to the gym and I would have ended up paying the same amount or more in the end.

EDIT: As you can see in the gym’s reply, they accuse me of making up an email address, which is not true. To publicly disprove her, I left another review from the address she is accusing me of making up. I recommend reading that review too. Be well.

I left another review for this gym from my other email address. In it I explained how the operators refused to abide by the contract and cancel my membership despite that I met all of the requirements (I recommend going a reading what I wrote and their reply first). In that review I explained that the manager's boss accused me of lying and made up nonsense reasons for not canceling me and refunding my money. In her reply to my last review she continued peddling one of the nonsense reasons/lying accusation, which was that the email address I gave them was made up.
