It's now called Fusion Gym. The benches, and generic hammer strength machines are hollow and subpar. The squat racks suck and are not aligned properly(poorly made). The gym is only good for the dumbells, machines,cardio and those who do not pay attentionto the details. Not for the seasoned weight/power lifters. Oh, and the gym is clean and patrons are easy to get along with.

Its not powerhouse any more its fusion gym. Fusion is a nice gym but not powerhouse. Powerhouse was a hard core gym not saying nothing bad about fusion they have alot of great equipment its just a different type of gym. Its not powerhouse and powerhouse could never be a fusion. Both gyms have their good qualities and not so good. You will just have to go and feel out the gym for yourself to see if u like it. One real complaint is it needs a good scrub down on the cardio machines....just my opinion.

Officially known now as Fusion fitness. Undergoing a current remodel, and the place is looking fantastic. Unlike powerhouse, staff for Fusion come to work. This gym is the best looking and most appealing gym if you are looking for a gym to join. They have a gym on Grant Ave off Roosevelt blvd heading towards academy rd, which is 5 star rated. Saunas, you name it, absolutely incredible

If anyone is looking for a good gym to do to Powerhouse Gym is it. It's family orientated and anyone can get in shape without any pressure. The trainers here are very professional and they can answer any questions that you have. I love this gym and have been coming for years I feel good to be here and feel good in my body. Huge variety of equipment you can do anything you can think of. Heavy dumbbells, aerobic room, locker room, preworkouts, good people working there. Substantially better than any chain gym if you are serious about your workout.

My older brother used to weight train at this gym and he told me good things about Powerhouse ,so in 2013 I decided to give it a try and I was certainly very disappointed . This gym is definitely old school ,so much so that their equipment are very antiquated,inferior,always break down, and look like they have been in this gym since circa 1974 which is when the franchise was founded . The gym itself based on what I personally observed is very squalid/unsanitary and has a very finite quantity of weight training equipment . I am so glad that I cancelled my membership at the time to go to vastly better gyms . If Powerhouse would just renovate their gym ,keep it clean ,and fully replace and modernize their equipment then I would certainly seriously consider returning in the future. But it is just like the proverbial expression goes ,"you get what you pay for" .

I trained here for a year and really enjoyed the facility, until I moved and needed to cancel and experienced the worst customer service i've ever been subjected to. I am a gym director myself and being well versed in the legal procedures of gym agreements I have never such such illegal and sketchy staff. After my year contract I stayed for another 6 months, then moved to Jersey for work. My contract clearly states I can cancel with 30 day notice (I was sure to get a copy upon signing up) OR can cancel at any pioint if I move outside a 25 mile range, both of which are applicable. I called 5 times over the first month and left a note with the manager who never seems to be there requesting the cancellation. I was patient despite the fact my card was still being charged and emailed 3x, left 4 more voicemail's and spoke to the front desk staff another 3x. The following month I was charged again. The NEXT month (I've been trying since October of 2016) I got a new CC. I called to try and cancel but the front desk yet again could not help me, she was very nice and I informed her I also need to update my CC so I do not get overdraft fees, she said the manager would call me back to cancel or update my CC, he did not call back and my account was hit with a $60 overdue fee despite my attempt to at least update my CC at a gym I had not checked in at in months. In December I made the trip back to Philly to speak in person, manager was not there. I informed the very nice front desk lady that if my agreement is not cancelled within a month I would have to report them to the BBB. I called today to offer one last chance to cancel my contract before using my companies legal resources to handle the issue. I did not request a refund of the $130 that has been charged since my first attempt to cancel , I just wanted to stop paying more. I explained this to Ed the current FD at the desk who said the manager was there (OMG A MANAGER ACTUALLY WORKS THERE!?). He explained that due to the distance he would need to walk between the front desk and the manager in the back he could not grab him..I explained that I had been told a total of 17 times over the past 6 months that he would call me back and he hasn't. I said I would be happy to be put on hold for as long as necessary for the manager to be free. Ed informed me he would not be getting the manager. I have never written a negative review, especially for small niche independent gyms as I am a professional athlete and like to support these business, but the illegal activity and lack of concern for their members is astounding. Ive directed gyms in the Philadelphia area for years and I have never ignored a customers requests, let alone very reasonable and completely within the limitations of our gym contracts. Im hoping maybe this review will finally get me call back from the manager to cancel my membership....I just want to cancel....this is insane and very illegal.

I have been part of the Powerhouse gym family for almost 4 years now, and I could truly say that there are no better gyms as this one, in the Philadelphia area. The name speaks for itself. If you are looking to maximize in strength and size, this is the place where you'll have "Power". If you're looking for a true family, this is the best "House" you should get into. At the end of the day, we are just a bunch of superheroes look-a-like stuck in one location...lol. POWERHOUSE GYM is the place to be!! Didn't really like there was a guy there the other day arguing with the staff and he reached over and took something from the counter my last gym was like that I had to leave that day I cancelled my membership and am now at LA fitness it's pricy but at least you don't have to deal with crazy people fighting in the gym
