(I recommend you READ THIS if you are going to this Gym on evening schedule). I have been a member of YMCA for several years in the past, in 2 different states. I recently renewed my membership but this thrusday night, I had the most dissapointing and disgusting experience ever at a YMCA location. I went there with my son, who just moved to the city, and we received the most rude, unprofessional and disrespectfull treatment that I have ever experienced from any personnel of this valuable institution. Despite what was informed to me at YMCA when I renewed the membership, and confirmed to my by a YMCA supervisor, the lady at the front desk stopped me at the entrance and talked to me in a VERY unpolite, rude, and even agressive manner. She did not let me talk and insisted that I had to pay IN ADVANCE for the month that I had until the 21 of NOVEMBER to pay, "you owe YMCA 34 dollars", she said, "YOU PAY NOW or you are not going to the gym tonigh". After I made this compulsive payment, she then tried to stop my son from using the gym, arguing that I did not have a familly membership, which I have. This lady was really rude, unpolite, and I think tried to humilate us with no reason. But waht I regreat the most is the negative impression that this very unprofessional attitude caused on my minor son, who is barely getting to know the city of Reading and does not want to comeback to YMCA now. I must say that I do not think -and I hope- that this attitude responds to the policies and standards of an institution as valuable as YMCA, specially towards inmigrants. But I do advise whoever read this, so they do know what to expect there, even in front of their children.

I’m so shocked by the comments. I’ve read them prior to attending months ago and expected the worst. And I honestly got the complete opposite. I’ve had nothing but great experiences at this YMCA. At the sign up the older woman at the front desk was really nice and explained everything politely. Each day I go they warmly greet me when I arrive and when I leave. I’ve interacted with different people, older women, young women even a man at the front desk on different days. Each were nice and respectful. This place is well kept to be an older building. You can tell by the crowd of regulars visitors and members that this place was a prized place back in the day and they still try to keep that feel after all these years later. I wouldn’t let others experience persuade you, try it out for yourself.

And I hope everyone sees this before This review got taken down cause that’s what they do. So please, let’s all call the state to shut this place down. It’s been open for a long time because no one from Reading. Doesn’t have the Balls enough to make a complaint I’m from New York City and that’s what I do make complaints on bad environment Thank you have a blessed day

This gym is a total scam, I been going for a week and now they want me to buy again , When I went in to talk to someone, the lady at the front desk had the worst attitude super rude and unprofessional. Instead of helping me, she tried to sell me another membership like I was just going to forget they stole my money. Don’t waste your time or money here.

I've called and spoke to Angie twice and I just want to say that both times she's been very kind and helpful and it's hard to find people like that anymore these days working in a job that deals alot with people.

We've been trying desperately to get swimming lessons here for months and have finally given up. Signed up online back in August and have been calling and emailing regularly since then to actually schedule something. Every time we're told someone will call us back to schedule something and we never hear anything. About 3 weeks ago we called to complain and were told by the worker that this is "completely unacceptable" and "it will be passed on to a supervisor and they'll be in contact with you tomorrow at the latest." Guess what? Never heard anything. So we call back a week later and are told the same thing. Oh well. I guess we'll find somewhere else when it gets warm.

I came In earlier today to buy a membership and quickly felt the rude hospitality. My fault for not walking out sooner but the woman at the front desk was rude with quick responses and was not considerate of my time, so noticeably that the other woman worker in the back make a joke about how slow she was typing. Before leaving I decided that this place was not for people who wanted to be treated with respect and upon request of cancellation of my membership the woman rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth, and quickly said bye in a loud disrespectful tone. Do not even thing about this YMCA, you deserve better treatment.

The worst customer service I have ever received, I came in earlier today and instantly felt unwelcome. (maybe because I am black) the two older woman at the front desk were rude as I was asking questions about the gym and received quick responses with a stare as if I was a bother. Before leaving I requested to cancel my membership that i got earlier due to the customer service. The older woman in the front desk with a brownish/black wig (who was doing nothing) sucked her teeth as I waited for a response then directed me to the other woman in a desk behind her in the back who made a sigh before addressing me. I heard the woman mumbling things on my way out about me. If i could give no stars I would.

My family brought three guests over the holiday and it was an exceptional experience. The staff on the phone was friendly and informative. Adrian at the front desk problem-solved, helped orient us, and went out of his way to give us a warm welcome.
We love the Y and today was an example of why.
Thanks, Adrian. You’re fantastic.

First of all, this facility has all of the right equipment for you to achieve your goals, in my opinion. For a guy like me that has long 8 to 11 hours shifts it’s really convenient because it really close to my house. The only major issue that I have it’s all of the kids that are allowed into this facility. They been running in the hallways, bouncing & throwing basketballs at each other, sitting on the equipments without even using them, & playing loud music in Bluetooth speakers. If you just want to achieve your body goals in peace, I’m telling you right now this totally NOT the facility for you. The only reason I haven’t canceled my membership it’s because it’s really close to home, & because of my schedule.

Booked a birthday party in the pool area.
My daughter wanted to swim with friends for her birthday so we checked prices in the area and of course Reading YMCA happened to be the cheapest 🚩. Stopped looked at the place…..pool looked clean… party area not so clean. I thought maybe they’ll clean it and have it ready for me on the date that I reserved. As I arrive to the ymca day of the RESERVED BIRTHDAY PARTY CELEBRATION 1. The front desk nor pool staff knew anything about there being a party 2. They staff were about to be off shift for the day 3. I was not allowed in to decorate early because they didn’t know anything about it 4. When they finally got an OKAY to allow me in my guest had already arrived 5. The party room was DISGUSTING dirt everywhere chairs tables everything was dirty I can go on with 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 but ima leave it at this. The only good thing I can say is the staff did apologize for the inconvenience and they were kind to the kids. That’s all other than that spend that extra money and go somewhere else for your pool parties. Trust me

Case workers work horribly. Try to victimize and desolate your character. If one seeks out help for homelessness reasons don't assume they are a smacky.

Ms. Rachael at the front desk was such a kind and generous woman.
The pool was fantastic, my daughter had a blast.
Great space, tons for the youth to do, and I loved how welcoming and hospitable everyone was.
Very great place to bring my 4 y/o for some fun.
Dad here forgot the community pool closed 😂

The staff was so rude, the lady noticed my foreign accent and her answers were short and kept insisting on “no spots available”. She sounded rasist and made me feel very uncomfortable, especially when she asked if we moved recently in the US. All i was asking is what do we need to enroll our kid in the future and what kind of classes they offer, tuition fees… I WILL NOT enroll my kid there ever! I am reviewing my experience at Berks County YMCA!

My daughter went to the YMCA daycare After school. It was horrible if your not Spanish they dont like you much. My daughter who is half white gets picked on the other spanish girls. My 6 yrs old didnt want to attend anymore. It was to the point where i had to slightly get ghetto and i hate to do that unless i feel like i have too. All the staff and workers very unprofessional and mostly they are related to eachother. If the problem doesnt concern theyre own kids they dont care. They dont take the concerns of the other children seriously. I.e my daughter had an IEP and attended Tyson Sch. Elementary school. Dont recommend them at all

my son started daycare there 2 days a week about a month ago and I will not be taking him back. When I walk in the first floor daycare sometimes the one lady is screaming at the kids. My son told me he was crying for me and the one lady told him if he didnt stop crying she would tell me not to pick him up. They are not very friendly and should not be trusted with kids. They are unprofessional and I wont be taking my son there again
