Love this gym been a member for over 5 years. Staff is friendly and facility is always neat. I really only have 1 thing that could improve the gym experience.

It would be nice to get new weight grips or new weights from 30lb-50lbs dumbbells as they are balding and cause palm pain when in use. Its expected wear and tear and would be greatly appreciated by everyone. Everyone workout strong and be safe.

I don’t recommend this gym. the membership is too expensive for what they offer. There is no sauna, no pool, and nothing extra included, yet they still charge a high price.

When you first sign up, they hit you with almost $100 in fees, calling it an “enrollment” or “maintenance fee,” which feels unfair and not honest. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), they close early, which makes it hard for people who work during the week to use the gym.

Overall, it’s not worth the money. You pay a lot but get very little in return.

I give this gym four stars. I think the staff is pleasant most of the time but one of the coaches is very nasty. She avoids you by glancing in another direction when you smile at her. I can tell she is very fake. Why take up a position to teach people if you don't really like your job?
Secondly, the bathrooms are clean except for the walls of the stalls. They are never clean. I mean NEVER.
Overall the equipment is good. I won't say excellent because most times one or two aren't working for weeks.
What is laughable is that men in there that are married can be seen talking to three or four women trying to get lucky but I suppose that happens at most gyms.

I recently cancelled my Retro Fitness membership after repeated unprofessional behavior from a staff member at this location.

The first issue occurred while I was performing a cable pullover variation—an established, evidence-based exercise targeting the lats (latissimus dorsi), a major mid-back muscle. Mid-set, I was interrupted by an employee (early shift, male with a man-bun) who insisted I “wasn’t working my back” and recommended the traditional version of the exercise. I let it go at the time, even though the interruption was distracting and unnecessary.

The following day, I calmly approached him to discuss the interaction and clarify the movement I had been doing. Instead of a constructive conversation, he escalated things by claiming I was “at risk of injury” (which had never been mentioned before), and repeatedly told me, “you’re mad because you’re incorrect.” He then walked away muttering that he would “allow” me to perform the movement.

I fully support staff stepping in when someone’s form is genuinely unsafe, but this was not about safety. It reflected a lack of familiarity with modern training methods and a failure to interact respectfully with a paying member. For a gym that claims to support all fitness levels, this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

I’ve since moved on to train elsewhere, and I hope Retro Fitness takes steps to ensure staff are both knowledgeable and professional in their interactions with members.

We got a one month membership because we were vacationing in the area. It was a bit pricey but we go here often enough that it made up for the cost. The facility is clean, has ample equipment and it has not been super crowded the times I have gone. The music is awful and I wish they would curate a better selection. Also you can only hear the music in the weight section and not by the cardio equipment so maybe invest in better speakers as well. Overall I would recommend this gym.

SCAM: Filled out their form online for a free one day trial, only to be told they don't honor those trials since its the franchisee' discretion-- even though online it stated the opposite. If you aren't going to honor the trial, then clearly state that online instead of the opposite. It plainly reads the Marshall's Creek location participates in the free trial promo (this is a blatant attempt to get peoples' information and to have eager gym-goers visit their establishment so that they can upsell them).

I'm a big gym guy, if the gym was clean and well-maintained (which it looked like it was) i'd be a customer...but not with these deceiving tactics.

The guy at the front was nice and informative, though. At least that's one positive.

Very dissatisfied. They advertise one cycle class weekly then the class is mixed with Pilates stretches and cycle then back to exercises and cycle etc etc. cycle class is a cycle class. Stretch yes but to divide it with Pilates and other exercises disrupts the flow of the cycling and defeats purpose of the spin class !! I’d tour doing both u need to jet members know so they don’t arrive to a 15 minute cycle interrupted by other exercises uses. You need to re think your strategy. Have another class if u want other exercises. U have one class a week. Really??

The manager BRON of this location LIES and does not do as he says. I have had over 10 issues with this manager. He has told me on more then one occasion and one charge that he would be handling something only to find out after waiting the timeframe that he NEVER did his job and NEVER filed for my refund I have called the financial to get proof that he NEVER put in what he told me he was and also called another location in stroudsburg to confirm he LIED and never Put in my refunds! This has happen on multiple different charges over 2 years I have multiple emails proving he is a liar on multiple different situations on both mine and my husbands account and I am out waiting 20+ days on each occasion waiting for my hard earned money to be returned!! I feel he does this on purpose and abused his power bc his emails indicate that he has done the job and confirming however he NEVER does so either this is malicious and on purpose or he is incompetent. If your thinking about taking personal sessions and signing up for monthly 3-6 month plans don't ! your sessions that you finish they will continue billing you afterwards ! They billed me 6 weeks after my 12 weeks expired. I disputed with my CC company they proved it was a contract I proved my contract was over and it was a mess for 4 months afterwards. I never got my credits back I never even wanted the money I was happy to work out with the gym and there was no help. The gym asked me to be patient while the dust settles. Mind you there is only certain time frame CC company require proof. At the end I canceled my CC gave up lost 6 sessions @ $86 a session. Lastly I ended up getting a shake weeks later and they stored my CC for the shake and charged me for the week session i disputed prior that they already reversed on their favor . That was the end of that straw I canceled my membership! I had a 8 year membership prior if not more. They officially lost me as a client after that incident. If anyone wants to reach out I have proof with conversation, disputed amounts , contracts statements and all documentation. DO NOT TAKE PERSONAL SESSIONS @ RETRO

This is the third or fourth time the gym at E Stroudsburg has been closed on Sunday. The last time I asked why it happened the manager finally told me that it was probably a scheduling error. I accept that might happen but not four times. I called the retro fitness gym in Stroudsburg and the girl told me that it was closed because they were doing something inside. That was obviously not true since I was calling at the front door of the gym in East Stroudsburg and knocking on the door at the same time. Other than the inconsistent hours I think the gym is fine. I sincerely hope that the management will be able to overcome these shortcomings

Veterans that choose to go there beware what they say is different than what they do. Went a long time paying them without realizing it (after building my home gym) then lost my wallet so got new cards long story short they didn’t receive the payment due to this went straight to collections negative mark on credit. No call or email effort made by the manager or anything at retro but no worries right my mistake for not thinking of the gym membership I’ve basically been giving free money to. Call in to cancel it and get told that since I’m a veteran there will be no cancellation fee and that I’m good to go employee definitely saw it would be messed up to charge someone who hasn’t even been on location for months. Thinking all is good to go I receive an email for a 40 dollar fee. Call in and it’s some BS line that same manager gives. Obviously not gonna argue on the phone as that’s not my style and can’t afford negative marks on my credit report so it’s paid and thankfully I’m out of this contract trap where they apparently will squeeze that very last bit. I love this gym with all my heart. I have a membership to Planet Fitness as well, but I find myself using Retro more simply because of the equipment variety. They have more specialized gear for individuals who train for specific sports and even plenty to satisfy the needs of cross-fitters. The staff is great, very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, not to mention they make a mean protein shake of whatever flavor you desire. Always clean in the gym, sanitizer stations are abundant and consistently stocked. If you're just starting your quest for good health or looking for a change of scenery from your current gym, give Retro a shot, I bet you'll like it 💪

Manager is unprofessional. Does not clearly relay hidden fees. Their hydro massage beds, main reason why I signed up with them always had issues. The main exercising Nautilus machine that I used had issues unresolved for weeks. Charges my card, even when I did not attend this gym for 9 month. Stay away.

Bron, the manager, told my husband he would freeze his account but to just email him. He never got back to my husband and as a result we were charged almost 4 more times before someone else got involved and helped us out. Been a member since they opened this location. I wanted to come workout on a Sunday at 5pm and when I pulled in to park, they were closed. I checked google maps and their site and both indicate they close at 7pm on Sundays.
I'm disappointed because no established business closes earlier than advertised unless there's hazardous weather.
This isn't a one time occurence, I recall driving by on other Sundays and seeing it was closed before 7pm.

It was terrible experience to cancel a membership. First , you could not cancel by phone, then they asked you send email . They argued they could not cancel it because the payment overdue, you paid overdue, then they said you have another one month to wait to cancel the membership. Meanwhile they continue charge you for no reason. This is totally fraud . Plus I never got a membership card, and that means my membership never actived. Now I could even cancel it.
