It is a great place to play basketball with your friends or just in general a great hang out spot

Large, well-equipped facility with indoor pool and walking/jogging/running track, plus two basketball courts that can accommodate pickle ballers. I also like outdoor hiking trails. Friendly staff is icing on this health-conscious cake.

I used to love the y and it is a great place to play basketball for me and my friends. Though recently me and my buddies have been driving all the way to the y after checking and seeing the courts are both open on the schedule only to arrive and see both courts have been fully taken by daycare, group exercises, and more. I get it if the daycare needs to come inside on a rainy day but most days it’s dry and sunny when it happens. I don’t know if it’s an issue with the schedule or if the management has no care for people’s need and only care about money. Also YMCA stands for Young Men’s Christian Acadamy. Nothing against people of the older age but it feels as if this organization is focusing all there attention and activities for the old people which is taking away the young men’s opportunities. If you just focus on the older ages you may as well call it the OMCA. This message isn’t ment to be harmful in any way just a reminder that there are young kids like me who just want to go out and play basketball and sometimes get held back from that.

I tried coming in the last half hour to grab something i left earlier in the day, and when i tried entering the door, it was already locked around 9:30-40 when they say they close at 10. I was rudely greeted at the door and one of the receptionist told us we could go grab it and we started walking down to one of the courts to grab her purse and then a manager came down and he blatantly called us rude and disrespectful and he said we walked right past the lady that let us in and also accused us for β€œignoring” her. If this place isn’t letting people in around 9:30 then state so and kick people out around 9:30 because in the end everybody has to leave anyway. this was extremely uncalled for and not customer friendly. 😐

My main complaint with the place is the hours. I often work til 7, as do many people. Let's say I get there at 7:30, a fairly normal time. The first thing I like to do is relax in the whirlpool, then alternate between the pool, steamroom and sauna. I don't like to be in a hurry. By the time I'm done in there it's after 9 pm, sometimes 9:30, when they rudely blow a whistle, which means leave. If I'm lucky there is time to do 10 minutes of cardio and shower, before they promptly kick everyone out of the building at 10pm. I am just beginning to feel warmed up enough to begin strength training, and they are closing, negating my chance to work out. Sorry but but 10pm is just ridiculously early. I don't think a weight room should close at all, but if you're gonna close, at least stay open til 11 or 12 for the people who work. Their weekend hours are much worse, which is when people really have time to work out.

We love belonging to this facility. There are so many things to take advantage of from the fitness classes to the pool facility to the walking track (extra helpful during this particularly snowy winter), and the swim lessons for my child. It’s clean, and I’ve gotten to meet so many wonderful people here.

A terrible experienceβ€”those receptionists were blatantly racist, rude, and completely unreasonable. They should go back to school to relearn manners and cultural respect. Moreover, my ID is my private property. Taking it and scanning it without informing me of the reason is illegal. When I requested my ID back, the receptionists refused and forcefully scanned it. It’s hard to believe this is happening in the United States. This is the worst YMCA branch in Pittsburgh

We really enjoyed it here. The design on the building is really thought out. At least in my mind. I love the different change rooms boy, men's, girls, woman's, and family. I liked the pool layout for kids area, therapy pool and lap pool with acces through the kid area for those needing a ramp to get in. The change rooms are nice and it's clean. Friendly staff. Great stop on our road trip.

Edit to add to review. We traveled to many YMCAs during our trip and made time to ensure we came back here. Of all the Ys we went to. This was our favorite. Again it is clean, it is well thought out, it is just a nice facility. I know some reviews say otherwise but I'd say visit some other places and other Ys. This one is a gem.

When I visited the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA on Monday morning, I was surprised and disappointed by the treatment I received. The older lady at the front desk told me directly, β€œThe system is telling me you don’t belong here… you lost your privilege.” She repeated, β€œYou don’t belong here,” making me feel completely unwelcome. If this message was truly coming from the system, it’s a serious problem. But if these were her personal words, then it’s an even greater disappointment.

Despite being a nationwide member, I was treated as though I needed to justify my presence. Although they eventually confirmed my membership and allowed me to enter, the experience felt humiliating from the start. The YMCA is supposed to offer a welcoming environment for members across locations, and this branch did not meet that standard. It was overcrowded and offered no special amenities to justify such treatment.

I expected more from a YMCA.

Have been here for birthday parties. Tried book my daughter's birthday here for the past 2 weeks over the phone. Consistently getting voice-mail. Leaving voice-mail did me no good as I never received a call back. I went in person and the woman I had to speak with was in a meeting. The front desk took down my name and number and I still never received a call.

This is a very nice YMCA. The facility is large and immaculate, with an ongoing investment in the locker rooms and other parts. In my experience, this is the best physical plant of any YMCA I’ve seen. The equipment is well maintained, so much so that you can’t guess the age. Based on my limited experience at Ys, it has the best aqua facility.

The cardiac equipment room is large and well-ventilated, with many treadmills, ellipticals, and bicycle machines. I have never seen the room crowded. There are many televisions about. The free weight and weight machine area, on the lower lever, is large with great space between weight machine excercises areas.

Been a member of the Y for past 2 yrs. The location is extremely convenient and the daycare is the main reason we joined. Over the past few months we’ve noticed some negligence with our 21 month old in daycare, eating crayons, getting into the potty area, not being offered water etc. last night she fell from a rocking chair and hit her head and face and was required to get X-rays at the ER. The video was reviewed and the elderly woman working simply was not watching her. Thank God she is okay, but that child care is not recommended to parents with little busy babes that need to be looked after.

This is a great YMCA, it has a great pool facility and often hosts "The American Red Cross" for blood drives, the only things that would make it better is if they had a TV and game room for Adults not unlike the one they have for the children, and if they had a full service cafeteria or cafe so people could get something to eat and drink while they were there, and if they ever do get those they should have a Pepsi fountain drink Despenser that in addition to having caffeinated Pepsi and Diet Pepsi should have caffeine free Pepsi and Diet Pepsi.

Services have deteriorated post Covid, no customer service. Dale at front desk is rude doesn’t respond to complains/fix broken things. Don’t even think of going into BRAND NEW SAUNA .. they don’t want you to use it. The lifeguards are more concerned about Sauna users than kids swimming in pool.

Gym had no pec deck machine and all the equipment is very worn out if your looking for a gym for weightlifting/body building there are much better options out there the only decent part about the gym was the leg machine equipment. If you want a place that offers a pool and basketball court with a mediocre gym look no further.

UPDATE May 3, 2022:
Last week on a particularly crowded day I spoke with the life guard shift manager (Dan) and head swim coordinator (Monica) regarding my concerns with children’s swim lessons. They were both very polite, respectful, and heard me out on my concerns. Over the past week I have noticed a significant improvement in keeping people out of the pools during swim lessons and the signs have returned. Thank you for making it easier for our children and their instructors focus on their lessons.

Original Post
You used to close the warm water pool during swim lessons. PLEASE start doing this again. The last three or four sessions our kids have been in the warm water pool has been so crowded with kids and adults not taking lessons that the kids don’t have room for there lessons. Sometimes they don’t even leave the wall. Please Please go back to your old policy. Thank you.

I was misinformed by their staff and they are declining the policy I was specifically told by one of their staff. I had even toured the place before signing up and asked all the questions in advance. I didn't know it was my job to keep track of the name of the person and not trust them. Either way it would have turned into a he said she said thing. Front desk personnel very efficient friendly and professional. Instructors for spinning classes also very professional and very caring about the progress of their students. The facility is always spotlessly clean. i am however concerned that many members especially in the men's locker room and in the downstairs fitness center do not wear masks or if wearing them do not wear them properly maybe covering only their chin and their mouth. I wear mine constantly. I'm 70 and vulnerable to covid and I wish that all of our members and guests would conduct themselves appropriately and according to the posted rules of the YMCA

The YMCA Pre-School is an utter joke. If I could give it 0 stars I would, but to be able to write a review they force you to pick 1 star. There is absolutely no communication from the top to the bottom. When you think of a teacher that is going to be working with 5 year old's and under, you would definitely think of someone that appears to enjoy their job with a lot of energy (If that is what you are looking for this is definitely not the place for you). We were also told that they were creating their own rules (because they were allowed to do that) and because of that our son was no longer allowed to go to the pre-school because we wouldn't comply with their "made up" requirements. It is a shame that "values" that they stand for , don't meet the quality of presentation!

Met the rudest lady at the front desk! All I wanted to do was to bring my sister and a friend of hers who is 12. After taking his picture that she rudely asked for, she looked to my face and said people under 18 can’t go in. I literally took my sister there who is 15 in there?? EDIT: Leg machine is STILL broken, taking off another star....
I have been going to this Y since it opened it's definitely kind of fallen apart more the past few years. For example, one of the clocks along the track has been broken for a while, plaster in the warm water pool in worn out, heat/AC in part of gym does not work, the fitness machines are worn out. In fact, one of the leg machines has been broken for almost 2 weeks. You'd think that being a paid gym, they'd have it repaired within a day or two. I asked and no one knew what was happening with it.
They have a suggestions box, and they used to post them with comments, but not anymore. Some of the staff are friendly, some are rude, it just depends.
Probably the dumbest thing they did was "converting" part of the gym into the fitness center. They should have just added onto the building if they really needed more space. Wish they had an outdoor walking trail too around the building.
It's still nice that they offer so many different things here though (lots of classes, child care, basketball, aquatic center, etc.), which is really one area they really beat the other gyms in the area.

I agree the place is pricey compared to other gyms and the staff could be friendlier but I use the facility enough days out of the month and jump from weight room to the pool, to doing activities on the courts, that it makes it well worth paying more.

Personally I never understood paying for gym memberships anywhere. The money you pay, in a year you could afford a machine or equipment to put in your house (key being, if you have the space). This YMCA is amazing because it offers variety of options.

I am surprised that people pay 60 dollars for this gym. It was originally 50 dollars a month (which is still way overpriced) but they added some equipment that not everyone uses (monkey bars, punching bag etc.) and they use that as a way to scam people to pay more. The equipment that they have is average to mediocre (especially the leg press) and staff hardly takes care of the gym during the day as there is often weights all over the place. It is kind of mindblowing that the beaver valley ymca is half the price of this one and it has a much better staff and better equipment. Id highly suggest not paying the obsurd price for this gym, especially due to the fact that gyms half the price of this one offer a much better experience. Don't get scammed. Also the people working the front desk are not very welcoming and not friendly to people with questions

I have nothing positive to say about this establishment. I am not even a member, but the half dozen times I've tried to sign up for classes and inquire about programs, I have ran into problems. The people working the front desk are, in general, unfriendly and if you ask them specific questions about classes, they almost always direct you to call someone's voice mail. This would not be a problem if the people actually called you back. I have called four different voice mails on four different occasions and not gotten any phone responses. One time I e mailed someone a question about a class and got an e mail a month later, with a lousy "sorry for the delay," response. A month later, in my opinion, is more than "a delay." Recently I called on the day a class opened to ask a question, hoping to register later that day, and did not hear back. When I called back three days later I was told a)the person wrote down the wrong phone number to call me back and b)the class filled up the first day it opened, which was the day I originally called. Again, the overall unfriendly staff and lack of seeming to care has turned me off from this place completely. I have never posted a bad review on any company or establishment before, but I felt the need to do so on this. I'm sure their classes could be fine, but I wouldn't know since I can't get a hold of someone to sign up for anything!
