Been coming for 10 years now. Love the instructors and custodial staff. Unfortunately classes are so frequently canceled, and often with no notice. Sometimes we will be waiting for 15 mins for a class to start only to find that it's been canceled with no notice from front desk or the app. If we ask front desk about it we're not given an explanation for the absence of notice. I wish they would be more consistent with their classes.

I’ve been coming here since 2004 when I signed my eldest son up for swimming and tee ball. Everyone is always welcoming and helpful. We also have taken part in the Y Achievers program and fitness classes which are great. David’s Zumba class is one of the greatest experiences in my life!!! Check it out!!! It’s a cool place! And it’s right next to a shopping plaza and Kids at Play so that’s a plus!!!

Just in Philly for the weekend and found this Y for a sauna and cold shower—what a nice facility and friendly staff. Plenty of parking in front. I didn’t work out or swim but the changing rooms were very nice and the sauna was hot.
I love that I can use my YMCA membership wherever I am!

Horrible place! They don’t care about your kids! No one is ever paying attention so no one ever has any answers for you. The very first day of camp, I picked my daughter up at 4pm only to greet her barefoot. I was told she was walking around with no shoes on since “they went to the pool”. I asked “well what time did they go to the pool?” Their answer “12pm” so basically my child was walking around a building barefoot for 3 hours. My last straw was when I picked my daughter up and she had a ton of dirt in her hair. No one told me or knew anything. When I asked what happened they claimed a staff member questioned my child about the dirt in her hair. LIES! More importantly, why wasn’t I informed when I came to pick her up?! DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! THEY ARE OBLIVIOUS, NEGLIGENT AND DONT CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN! Everyone here just wants to do their 8 hours and collect their check. After conversing with other parents I was told their son’s arm was broken while attending this facility as well as her other child needing emergency surgery because “she ran into a tree” (that’s what they reported to the parent) and her entire mouth was split open and the top row of her teeth, loose. From “running into a tree”? More importantly she was NOT notified until she arrived for pick ups as well. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING! They need to be investigated!

I think the Roxborough YMCA is a nice place overall. However, when my husband and I would bring our children between the ages of ten and fifteen to work out four or five to five years ago it became unaccommodating because the kids workout equipment was move out of the main gym area after the first couple of evenings we were there.
I didn't understand why this happened. I was only left to assume. My kids were very good and low key like me and my husband's personality. So I know it wasn't on the account of misbehaviors and such. So we just had to travel to the Ambler Y or Willow Grove (once that opened). Those two YMCAs are more accommodating for bigger families but not as convenient for travel.
Therefore, I only gave them three stars because I didn't feel that it was as accommodating without the youth size equipment.
My kids are big enough now to use the regular equipment but we moved on since then.

Not the best place for toddlers. Outside of the pool there is nothing to do. The pool area is freezing. Definitely takes some getting used to. Though if you have a toddler I'd recommend a full body swim suit and a mouth guard. Memberships are free with health insurance. lessons and such have a price.

I have been a member for many years. I am generally happy and appreciate the family atmosphere. However, my son was recently verbally attacked by an “adult” member. It was totally unprovoked and obscenities and racially charged comments were part of this very unexpected altercation. We will be canceling our membership as we now feel unsafe. Very disappointed

My child recently completed the swim lessons. I gave this organization a three for several reasons. First, we didn't receive a certificate of completion. Second, there was a different instructor each week Thirdly, The skills my child should learn wasn't clear week to week. Lastly, I'm excited about my Child completing classes. I wish it was celebrated with a certificate or something to shoe completion for each level.

My grandson went here for Summer camp, after one day, he didn’t want to return. During the extreme heatwave in the city, the kids were outside most of the day. There was some shade, but the heat was stifling, he had a headache and was dripping wet when I picked him up at 4:30pm. He did tell one of the counselors he had a headache, they gave him water and told him to sit in a shady area. He felt better after drinking the water, but he didn’t like all the outdoor time.

You think once you pay all the money for a membership that you'll be able to use all the amenities. Nope! Half the time you want to go to the gym they have some sort of class in there and they won't let you in. Same with the pool. So if you want to take a class they charge you, it's not included in the really high membership fees. I have never been happy with this membership. I used to get so much more for so much less money at LA fitness.

This location is a mess I do not recommend. The staff there is nasty, I wanted to go to a class so I asked one of the staff members for directions she looked at me like I was crazy I’m asking a simple question (short black lady with gray hair in the front ). When you walk in the front desk ppl just look at you with nasty looks. I would think if you staring at least say hello but these days good customer service is a lot to ask for. Overall it ain’t worth it I came to this location because the location is safe but the ppl who work there are rude so I’ll find elsewhere. It’s always people who look like you who treat u the worst. One of the best YMCA that I've been too.
After swimming at Drexel pool for years I switched to the Y in Roxborough after moving out of the city to Penn Valley Two years ago .
Friendly staff, Clean and chill . A real community gym and pool .
The Havertown place is about 5 minutes closer to my house but after trying both I preferred this one for many reasons.

The most reliable place in Philly! I sincerely love this gym - the people, the facilities, the quality of machines, weights, and beyond. Terrific staff at this YMCA. Super nice and caring. Today, they went above and beyond to help me find my missing prescription eyeglasses. Love, love, love! I like it that the pool is reasonably warm (kids still shiver a little), and the cardio room is pretty darn good! Personally, I don't play basketball, but those who do seem to be pretty happy.

My first time going swimming here and the lifeguards were rude. Made all the swimmers move out the way so the lifeguard friend could practice his laps. Nobody came here to watch you swim . Then its 4:10pm and he blows the whistle, he blows the whistle again at 4:15 and says "get out" he didnt say it politely or like it was his job. Teach these teens to be respectful bc nobody tolerating that a second time not to mention it was only black people left in the pool.

The swim instructor Kyle is great. He has patience and has good tips and instructions to help swimmers progress each class.

However, I have a negative experience too. The pool water is kept too cold/cool which makes it difficult for a beginner swimmer to be comfortable in the water. Yes it's summer, but the pool water is still too cool. I took my first swim class here, this past winter session in January through February and the pool water was cold. I didn't continue the next session after because the water was too cold. I decided to wait for the summer session hoping the water would be warmer, but it's not. The pool water is still too cold.

This Ymca is complete garbage. This is the closest one to me so I always have to come here to workout and play basketball. Every single time there is a class for younger kids there is a whole other side on the basketball court that’s open yet they still make you wait hours. The workers are rude a lot and I do not recommend coming here if you actually have a choice of gyms to go to.
