STUDIO 39 FITNESS (formerly STRIDE Lawrenceville) is a boutique fitness studio in the heart of Lawrenceville in Pittsburgh, with a thriving local community, welcoming and encouraging team, and challenging class formats. If you are looking for an effective and efficient workout for any level of experience, accountability and support to achieve your goals, STUDIO 39 is for you. Expert coaches lead classes that include cardio, strength and recovery formats that can be modified to any fitness and experience level. Our unique programming is constantly evolving and designed to be inclusive and broadly accessible to most by choosing their own pace and modifications.

I’ve been a member of Studio 39 since May 2022, and it has truly been an exceptional experience. The community is warm, welcoming, and genuinely supportive. The coaches are not only highly knowledgeable but also deeply invested in helping every member succeed. There are a variety of classes from high-energy cardio and strength training to tread and yoga flow. There’s something for every fitness interest and level. The owners consistently go above and beyond, keeping members engaged with fun and creative events. I’ve been going to Studio 39 for about 3 years, and I truly can’t imagine my routine without it. The instructors are amazing and super motivating, which makes it easy to stay consistent. The studio is always coming up with fun & interactive ways to keep the community engaged, not just in the classes, but outside of them too— with events and challenges. Love the studio! It’s a very inclusive environment and a great place to get a workout! The classes are what you make of them, and are approachable at any fitness level. I have a lot of fun here and will continue to be a member. The music is always fantastic and requests for songs are accepted! The sound issues on other reviews I don’t really understand because the music is at an appropriate volume and is usually muted down when the instructor is speaking, it’s always been a non issue for me, but people are sensitive I guess and you can’t please everyone. They also provide hearing protection for anyone that wants it. Anyway coaches are great, place has good parking, is in a lively neighborhood: what more can you ask for??? Also shouts out to tread & flow, basically my new religion.

I went to an intro class here. The instructors were friendly and it was a good workout, but the music was between 95 and 100 dB for the whole class, and I wasn't able to hear what the instructor was saying over the music. If you have noise sensitivity or any kind of auditory processing issue, this is probably not the place for you.

I found this place on classpass- I had never done HIIT before and wanted to try something new. I’m not yet sure if HIIT is my thing so I don’t know if I’m qualified to make comments on the class but I thought it was fun enough.

I’m giving three stars because the studio’s pushy marketing is alienating me. After class ended, the instructor and another employee separately came over to sell me on their $60/2 week unlimited intro plan, which I would not be interested in even if it wasn’t a wildly bad deal. Then someone else called me on my phone the next day around 5pm to sell me on it again. Then they texted me a few days later to sell me on it again. I believe I also received an email. Generally speaking, you can safely assume anyone interested in your intro plan is not going to forget about it. I likely would have returned for another class if they weren’t so aggressive about this.

Not a runner but I tried it, and liked it. Studio was clean and it felt like the facilities were adequate. I’d go back and try one of the all cardio classes for something different, the class I took was a full body combo class. Instructor and front desk were both very nice, I felt encouraged the whole class. Music was fun. No awkward sales pitches, just the gentle suggestion to try the intro offer, which made me more likely to come back.

I’ve been a member here for almost 3 years now! Coaches are great, studio is always clean, nice large bathrooms in case you need to change going to / coming from work. I never have trouble booking into classes with fairly short notice (same day) which has been really great since my schedule always changes. There’s always a mix of walkers and runners in any given class so you can truly do what you feel comfortable with on a given day and feel good about it! As someone who doesn’t personally like cardio, it’s been a fun way to force myself to incorporate this into my routine.

Studio 39 is the perfect blend of exercise. I love balancing the cardio from the treadmill exercises with strength training or my ultimate favorite yoga with Maria R- she’s incredible! This is a nice and clean studio. I like that they provide fresh clean towels to clients. I also appreciate they provide snacks and drinks for special occasions like around thanksgiving. I appreciate the studio being flexible with class packs too. My favorite instructor is coach Andi W. She has an amazingly warm personality, genuinely wants to get to know her clients, and has great music choices.

Just took my first class and Mia made it seamless! She took the time to watch everyone’s form and provided modifications for every move. It’s a GREAT workout for all fitness levels and I definitely want to go back. As someone who does HIIT 5 times a week it pushed me and Mia motivated me the whole time. If you go to stride make sure to take Mias class!

I've been a member of STRIDE for nearly three years and love the style of workout, the instructors and people! I enjoy a mix of cardio and strength training, and the format at STRIDE makes it easy to scale up or down as needed.

There's not much 1:1 instruction being given during class, so if you're unsure of form or how to do a particular movement it's best to talk to a coach before or after class. They're all approachable and knowledgeable.

I joined Stride as a founding member because it was close to my apartment. I didn’t run much prior and walked the first couple months of taking classes there and can honestly say every workout is as high or low impact as you want to make it. Every coach has their own unique style of music and motivation, so there’s something for everyone. Chase, Cody and Alejandro are my favorites for challenging classes that achieve results efficiently. Classes can be as short as 45 minutes or as long as 75 minutes. Stride allowed me to explore my curiosity around running and helped me build strength and confidence in my overall fitness. Stride prepped me to complete the PGH half marathon. I couldn’t speak more highly of Stride Fitness!

Recommend. Very nice facility to workout in. Great environment and friendly staff. All equipment I saw were new and high tech. Did their combo workout. The trainer was great. Workout towels were provided. The place was ultra clean especially the bathrooms. I would do again. I wish they would have 30+ lbs dumbbells for the floor exercises, but that a very slight nitpick.

While I frequently read reviews, I admittedly rarely write them (regular review writers are unsung heroes!). That said, I’m much overdue for giving Stride the 5-star review it deserves. It’s an exceptionally friendly and inclusive community that welcomes folks of all fitness levels and body types. The workouts are easily modifiable to how you’re feeling that day, if you have an injury, etc. I’ve taken every instructor at least once and they all have their own coaching styles and music taste, but everyone will motivate you to do your best with enthusiasm and positive encouragement (no need to be afraid of someone yelling at or judging you). I highly recommend Alejandro’s classes for a great mix of music, easy to follow form instructions, and overall ability to push me to run faster and stronger. And a big thanks to Josh who teaches, manages the location (always clean and stocked with amenities), and creates the most welcoming environment.

i love stride! management, particularly josh, is top notch. i love that they are always running pricing specials, and even though the cost sometimes runs high, i feel they do their best to help afford it. favorite coach is lex, sad to hear she’s at a new job but so grateful for her classes. i love that she plays the least remixed music 😂 and the playlists offer a bit more diversity from the rest. my friendly suggestion would be to include more diversity in the music (it’s a little edm remix heavy) might help draw some more diversity in clientele too? im a poc and it’s pretty common that the classes are predominantly white. but highly recommend other poc to join!

I've been a member of Stride since Day 1 and have stuck with it for more than a year now! They make it easy - the workouts are 100%, the music is great, the instructors are all amazing, and Josh is a gem. I went from couch to a half marathon (walk/run) in 8 months. I would have said I hated running on a treadmill before Stride, but I've come around. You can do anything for 3 minutes at a time :)

I do not like workout classes. That said I love the classes at Stride. The whole facility is spotless. The workouts are fun and engaging. All of the teachers are great but I have to say that Chase’s classes are beyond amazing. You can really see the effort he puts into his classes. I never look at the clock (something I have done in the past). He give you a great workout while making it fun and never boring.

Stride has changed my life so much!! I feel so much support and community from the staff and coaches. Every workout is different and I love that I’m able to find something I really love every class! I’ve made a few friends and have brought a few friends to join the studio, and the sense of community is real! Tried an initial class here and had a great workout! The facility and equipment are really nice and there is a free parking lot right behind the building.

The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because I was right under a speaker and the music, combined with the instructor’s mic, was soo loud it hurt my ears.
