Its been said many times you don't know what you have until it's gone. Unfortunately, about a month ago, the Gym closed. I never fully appreciated it until I started looking for other gyms, and found none of them that matched the Gym at Elkins Park. I joined the Gym after my last gym closed. My main reason for joining it initially was because it was very close to the train station. I would take the train back from work and the Gym was 5 minutes away. Every time I worked out in the morning, there was someone cleaning the gym. Vacuuming and wiping down every piece of equipment, they made sure the gym was spotless from top to bottom. They had every piece of equipment you could want. For dumbell workouts, they had multiple benches, incline benches, and chairs. They had loads of free weights everywhere, both on the sides of the equipment and on weight trees throughout the gym. If you needed a barbell of any weight, you didn't have to walk more than five feet to get it, if that. The equipment was also spread out throughout the gym. You never felt like someone was on top of you when you were working out. I paid $64.00 a month, and it was well worth it. Most gyms I have visited since Elkins Park Gym closed cost between $10.00 and $20.00 a month. Although Elkins Park Gym cost more, I liked the fact it was never crowded. I was a member of the gym for almost 2 years and I rarely had to wait for equipment. If I did, there were at least two or three other pieces of equipment I could use that worked the same area I wanted. The gyms I have looked at don't have the equipment that Elkins Park had, some of them are filthy, some of them have the equipment in such a small area you feel like someone is on top of you while you are working out. Some of them are so crowded I feel like they need to make an appointment or get a ticket to use equipment. I am also not the most personable person, but for those that are, every time I walked into the Gym and every time I left, someone behind the desk said hi or bye to me. I am extremely sorry that the Gym is no longer around. No matter which gym I end up joining, it will not come anywhere close to the overall experience I had at the Gym.

Top notch Staff, Equipment and Facility! The Boot Camp and Training for Warriors classes are fantastic. I've been working out there for over a year now and the classes have not gotten routine or boring. All of the trainers are very knowledgeable and really easy to talk to if you have any questions. The staff there is always super friendly and greet you by name! I would highly recommend The Gym to anyone who is looking for a friendly, clean and motivating place to workout!

Love everything about this gym. The Trainers, Staff, and Owners are wonderful. I am excited to go and work out and I feel great afterwards all while being challenged. The personal trainers are all amazing and wonderful. Tim is awesome as a personal trainer and pushes me to my limits ever single time I workout with him!
Boot Camp Classes and XTC are created and exhibited by the trainers at the gym and are fun, unique and challenging at the same time. The trainers are constantly developing new workouts to keep things interesting. I highly recommend this Gym to any and all people of any fitness level.

XTC is an amazing change to anyone's fitness program. It makes me push myself harder and THAT is a good thing. I have done three XTC sessions so far along with Boot Camp classes & already I feel a change in my body strength. I recommend this program to anyone that wants to step up their work out. Awesome! :o)

Whether you are male or female, in shape or out of shape, a fitness junkie or intimidated by a 5 lb dumbbell (like me!), you will not regret joining The Gym at Elkins Park. I've tried other gyms, but I was looking for a place where I could learn, get a good workout, and challenge myself; and this gym met my expectations and more. These are some of the best trainers I've ever encountered; you will LEARN a lot both about the reasons behind what you are doing, and how to challenge yourself and push yourself safely, no matter what your starting level, These guys are teachers too, not just trainers. The training programs, specifically boot camp and the new apex Xtreme fitness are the craziest, most fun and most challenging workouts I've ever done. They make a point of being knowledgeable about the most up to date exercise science, and implementing this into each of these programs. I've been taking boot camp classes for over 6 months, but I'm still challenged; I've gained muscle, which is awesome. But, more importantly, I gained confidence in myself and what I can do. And, so will you. There is a saying on the wall downstairs in the gym, and it says, "Strong is the new sexy." That is what The Gym at Elkins Park is about....walking with you while you become a strong, confident person, no matter what your size or ability level. And by the way, if you are a fitness junkie already, don't be fooled. They don't let you off the hook....you'll be pushed to reach even higher.

My experience was horrible. I also bought a groupon for the boot camp only to find out that i was almost never able to get into a class. Also the owner of the place is a total biach and does not know how to treat costumers. and in order to even get in the class, they take a pic of you which they look up in the computer every time you come in, then you have to sign in and then they give you a card which then you have to take with you to the class which is only 10 steps away and even with all that you still need a punching card where they make a hole every time to come in and if you lose the punching card you they won’t let you in the class unless you pay $5, which they don't tell you about anywhere. Do not waste your money on this.

Initially, I joined Elkins Park Boot Camp for the challenge as I had heard that Boot Camp was a fantastic workout that provided many more benefits than my more traditional workouts. Boot Camps were reputed to be tougher than my current routine, but what t
