Update: the sporting club has made noticeable changes in housekeeping and shower cleaning. It’s much better. The locker room carpet is still often covered in debris and needs to be cleaned much more often as well as the locker room ceiling vents.
An incredible sporting club with a top notch fitness floor. You can spend the better part of your day here between classes, the pool, the courts, the golf simulator, the lounges, even a hair salon and cafe.
The members are generally friendly and polite. The atmosphere is positive.
The employees are excellent and I’ve noticed very little turnover during the year I’ve been here.
Regrettably, the showers are unacceptably filthy and the whole shower area reeks of mildew. Housekeeping works hard, but management isn’t properly scheduling deep cleaning of the showers. The grout is full of mildew, the showers have drain worm larvae, and other staining and debris.
Additionally, management isn’t properly maintaining the showers as two of them are out of service, one now for about 3 months.
The locker rooms are also not being deep cleaned. The carpets are stained and often smell. Just look up at the air vent and see it’s never ever been cleaned.
This isn’t acceptable at any price point, but especially not at $200 a month.
I’ve brought this in writing to the club’s attention more than once, which they respond to in writing, but don’t do enough regular deep cleaning.
This could easily be a 5 star venue, and one of the better gyms in the country, but they have to do a better job deep cleaning the showers and locker rooms.

We just booked a stay at The Bellevue Hotel and we were able to use The Sporting Club during our stay. The expansive facility is truly one of a kind! If you have the chance to check it out while staying at The Bellevue it’s a must do. I really love the indoor walking track, lap pool, and wide open spaces on the workout floor; It really doesn’t feel crowded which is amazing. All the staff are so friendly and Thea took the time to make us feel welcome and let us know all about the club offerings and also some great food recommendations. If you have the time or even just an hour or two and are staying next door, it’s worth it!

Great facilities very spacious and lots of equipment. Although the mens locker rooms smells very bad so I never use it. Also I think pickleball should have its own area because they can play anywhere, but take up the entire basketball court

I really like this gym and the classes they offer, it’s been a solid part of my routine for the past 3 months. That said, I think there’s room for improvement.
1. I mostly take Barre and HIIT, and I’ve noticed the instructors are pretty hands-off. They rarely correct people’s form, which can be concerning when you see others doing movements incorrectly and risking injury. I wish they were a bit more engaged instead of just watching the clock.
2. The noise from the basketball court on the main fitness floor is so loud and distracting. The constant squeaking from sneakers could really use some soundproofing… it’s like nails on a chalkboard at times.
3. It’s awkward when staff give tours through the locker rooms during peak hours. Seeing non-members walk through while everyone’s getting changed isnt ideal.
4. The women’s steam room smells like mildew and could definitely use a deep clean.
Overall, I do enjoy being a member and hope management takes some of these things into consideration, because this gym really has great potential.

Joining the Sporting Club has been life changing for me! It’s so much more than just a gym- the amenities really make this a great value- things like hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, rooftop deck, cafe, workspaces, etc. Also the sheer quantity and variety of classes means I can always find a class I want to do and fit it into my busy schedule. I’ve been a member of many other gyms, and I’ve never gone as consistently and got as much out of the experience as I have with the Sporting Club. Highly recommend!

The Sporting Club is a necessary luxury for the good life in Philly. Everything you could want in a gym is here, plus so much more! I joined for the pool, which is often nearly empty, and barely have time to use the many other amenities available. I can’t believe I waited two years to join!

Overall a really nice gym, spacious, many classes, good lounge areas. I joined for the pool and the pool is usually well kept. Unfortunately, I have noticed people especially men, going in the hot tub/cold plunge and sometimes the pool in sweaty workout clothes or worse, boxers. This is really not hygienic — for a really nice gym you’d expect members to be mindful of common etiquette. I don’t know how you can enforce it but something needs to be done. People should be wearing their swimsuit in these areas if they are going to get in the water and be mindful of everyone else.

Beautiful facility, but it feels like this gym is made up of so many sitting lounge spaces that it's starting to just feel like a WFH location more than a gym. Meanwhile, they only have like three squat racks, making it very challenging to have one open up to use during any of the weeknight hours. I just wish they would use all of this open space to actually prioritize having enough equipment so you're not standing practically on top of other people just to do a workout. I also am unimpressed by the group fitness classes... at my last gym, I was always so pumped to go to group fitness to be motivated by an instructor and others to work hard and enjoy my time with a banging playlist. However, IF you can even get into classes (they all fill up SO fast)... it has seemed that most of the instructors here hardly play any music (!!) which is disappointing and makes the experience almost awkward. I also would love if group fitness classes had any kind of dimmer lighting vs. overhead lighting to set some kind of vibe that makes it actually feel different compared to me just doing a workout at home. Yes, these are minor details, but when added up and compared to how much money this gym costs every month along with a large initiation fee, I am just not blown away. Again, while the space itself is gorgeous, I'd rather see more effort go into the amount of weight equipment and quality of classes, rather than just having a million tables and chairs.

Wholly depressing expereince. I REALLY wanted to love and join this place when I went for my tour. Unfortunately, the red flags just keep piling up, and by the end I couldn't do it. I've been in the service industry for a long time and seeing it from both sides for the last 25 years, there are things that are impossible to ignore. A brief list in order of appearance.
1. It's surprisingly difficult to find the entrance. Half the building is covered in a banner advertising the club but to get in, you have to dodge incoming and outgoing cars and enter through the parking garage which is VERY poorly marked. They obviously have the budget for signage.
2. ZERO employees are smiling....EVER. This should be a huge red flag to anyone at any business. Miserable staff speaks VOLUMES about quality control and working conditions. It's virtually impossible to have a good experience when no one there cares if you do.
3. The sales team is doing the opposite of their job. First, no one ever answers the phone. I feel like I don't have to explain why that's bad. Second, the sales office has six desks and two associates, another red flag. Third, they are the most miserable people in the building. Both of them looked defeated, sad and angry all at the same time. By the end of my tour, I was pretty sure my guide was suffering from a mental health crisis. Yikes.
4. Cleanliness. While still beautiful, due to an recent insane makeover, the gym still managed to look dirty. Another recent review cites a mass layoff in the Custodial Department as a possible explanation for this. (Happy staff=Happy Customers. An extremely simple equation lost on the investors running this place)
5. Excessive Initiation Fee. This is ABSOLUTELY unnecessary and very telling. This is a tool, based on the sunk cost fallacy, to keep people from quitting who want to. Why do you need this if you're not providing a sub-par product? Provide a good product, your membership will grow and you will succeed.
I rest my case.
TL;DR - Wait for them to get their act together or eventually sell when they run out of money.

I will do pros, cons and overall.
Pros: Best gym in the city hands down. Gorgeous interior design (coming from an architect!) Top notch facilities. As a triathlete, I have access to ALL my training tools in at the gym. I love the pool. The pool and locker room facilities are, for the most part, very clean. Excellent classes, great instructors, and great offerings for group fitness. The weightlifting floor is great. All the equipment you could ever want, large and expansive space. Also, a wonderful community. I’ve made friends here and I am constantly inspired and uplifted by the fellow athletes here. It is much more than a gym, it’s a lifestyle! I also find that the front of house staff are really engaged and friendly. They communicate regularly and rapidly with their members, which is good. There is a great community here and the facility is hands down the best, most elegant, social, and versatile I’ve seen in the Philadelphia area. It’s hard to beat.
Cons: The gym continues to predominantly cater to a daytime crowd. It closes earlier than most gyms and doesn’t offer the same amount of classes for the 9-5 working people. EVERYONE wants the gym to be open later, especially on Fridays and weekends! There is a high demand for this. Itgym gets REALLY crowded after work, and there are fewer classes outside of working hours. The locker rooms get cleaned and shut down while the gym is open at night. Operations and scheduling for deep cleaning and closing should be adjusted so as to not shut down while members are still using the open and operating facility.. All members should have the same experience regardless of time of day. I will say I’ve seen changes but the issue has never been fully resolved. I think staying open later would alleviate some of this.
Overall: it’s a great gym, all of the facilities, staff and management are all top notch and very well maintained. For a more “luxury” gym, no one is pretentious or stuck up and it’s a really friendly and welcoming space. They have lots of fun events and do a great job of cultivating a sense community and engaging and motivating their members. I really hope they extend their night hours and change their housekeeping scheduling to not be shutting down on top of members. Even with this flaw, I adore the gym, spend lots of time here, and happily recommend it to anyone who asks. My mom joined too!

Okay great gym but owners need to realize THIS IS A GYM AND NOT A LOUNGE AREA! There is a Big lounge area when you first walk in and a big lounge area in the main room with weights and machines. That space could accommodate more work out equipment. Also need more squat racks and better machines and equipment in general. Some of it is not the best. ALSO the aerobics room on 3rd floor has been cut in half and some classes like Monday night Zumba class is very crowded and could use a bigger area. Seems the only thing this gym cares about is making more lounge areas. Come on guys...step it up! We want a premier gym. Not a big lounge.

Love this gym! I have been at SCB for about a year and can only say good things about the gym, classes, staff, and environment. The gym can get quite busy after 4 pm, but I have never had to wait too long (no more than 5 minutes) for a machine in my personal experience. My only hope is that the HIIT Strength class would be offered during the weekdays. This is such a fun and challenging class, I would love to take it more than once per week.

Solid club and experience - feels very much like home. Everything is new and clean. My only two gripes: 1) men’s shower and bathroom area smell horrible; 2) I wish the gym stayed open later! (If you stay open later, it may help with crowded issue…) Stay open later!!!! Closing 9pm Fri and 8pm Sat and 7pm Sun is way too early.
May, the manager at the cafe (and the other staff too), is very kind and helpful as well!
Update: may move to City Fitness because of their better hours.

Best gym I've ever been too - the vibe alone is enough to get me out of bed in the morning. The classes are taught by knowledgeable and passionate instructors, everyone is very welcoming and dedicated. The locker rooms/bathrooms/etc are clean.
A lot of people say it's too expensive for a gym but what you're getting for it is so beyond worth it. I used to pay nearly the same just for a Cycle Bar membership, now I can choose from a bunch of different classes as well as integrate strength training, swimming, etc. I don't need anything else because they have everything!

If you’re looking for a top-tier fitness club in Philadelphia, you need look no further than The Sporting Club at The Bellevue. I’ve been a member since shortly after they reopened, and it offers a great mix of fitness opportunities. First off, the space is massive with several floors of workout areas, studios, courts, and even a pool. Whether you’re into strength training, cardio, yoga, squash or pickleball, they have it all (including tournaments). The equipment is well-maintained, and there’s always plenty available, even during peak hours.
The group fitness classes are a huge perk with excellent—knowledgeable instructors. The personal trainers here are top-notch, offering well-designed programs that actually deliver results.
The locker rooms are spotless and well-stocked, and the steam room /sauna are perfect for unwinding after a tough workout. The pool is also a great bonus, whether you want to swim laps or just relax.Overall, The Sporting Club is more than just a gym—it’s a full wellness experience. If you’re serious about fitness but also appreciate a little luxury, I highly recommend checking it out! As a special bonus, they also have great parties, including the recent Super Bowl & Eagles Victory!

Love this gym; the workout floor, pool, locker rooms, and class facilities are so well appointed. I've been a member for over a year now, and while its still difficult to get into Pilates classes its not impossible (admittedly attending classes during the business day). My one gripe is a relatively new one; the amount of 'influencers' taking pics all over the facility is getting out of hand. It would be appreciated if management could honor privacy on the pool and hot tub decks and sauna's.

Hands down the best gym in the city. It’s more than a gym, with so many amenities such as basketball gym, golf simulators, pool, sauna, barbershop, cafe, rooftop lounges and more. The staff (especially Thea who gave us tours and helped with the sign up) is incredible. Fresh towels, clean, attentive and always saying good morning. Not sure where the negative reviews come from, never an issue with scheduling or getting on machines, always a healthy balance of people here but never overly crowded. Plus who would want a gym that no one’s at anyway?

Over the past four or five months, the club has seen a dramatic increase in members. Classes are more difficult to book (good luck getting into Pilates!) The pool and running lanes are perpetually full. The locker room is overcrowded and consistently out of towels. The remote work areas are always occupied. I loved the club when I joined a year ago, but the current reality does not justify the sky-high sign-up fee and monthly membership rate. I only give two stars instead of one because the reception and locker room staff are all incredible even through they are stretched thin. If you want to join, I encourage you tour during peak hours (4:00pm-7:00pm) to see what you're in for!

A friend brought me a long for a trial to see if I'd like to switch over from City Fitness. I will say the whole building is immaculate and new. The gym equipment is very new, though for the size of the gym floor, there isn't a huge amount of equipment (esp. in terms of cable machines and bench presses) and so I can see it getting crowded in peak hours, especially as they continue to increase their membership (even on a rainy cold day, it was fairly busy). The other facilities, like the spa/sauna/pool and courts, would probably be the thing that would make the very hefty membership worth it (something like $350 sign-up fee, then $199 per month; I pay only $80 per month at CF), since CF makes you pay a $125 supplement for access to their NoLibs pool.
Overall, I'm not switching over just yet, because at least with CF I have the flexibility of multiple locations. But if I got more into regular swimming, I would come here; or if they reduced their sign-up fee to something reasonable (like $100).

I had a decent experience at The Sporting Club overall, but I recently cancelled my membership because it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
One of the main issues that led to me leaving was the fact that the club’s membership has increased dramatically over the last six months. I understand that their incentive is to have as many members as possible, but this results in the club being very crowded during peak times. I was super excited about the fitness classes when I first joined, but the rapid membership growth resulted in it becoming very difficult to reserve a spot in any class that isn’t held during the workday. To get a spot, you essentially need to set an alarm for when a class opens each week, but even this doesn’t always work because of how much competition there is.
The increase in membership also made it a lot harder to find a place to do some remote work during the day, since there are only ~15 comfortable seats near a power source. It was also (understandably) too loud to take calls, so I can’t really recommend it as a place to work remotely.
I definitely lost some respect for the club when they refused to honor their membership policies. When I asked which section of the membership agreement states that a freeze can’t precede a cancellation, they were unable to answer and seemed very unhappy that I wanted to cancel my membership at all. Also, they charge a $25 fee just to freeze your membership, which is such an obvious cash grab. Considering how high the monthly fee is (not to mention the sign-up fee!), it didn’t feel great to have them try to wring as much money as possible out of me before I left.
It’s worth mentioning that the facilities are very high quality. There’s a ton of space, the locker rooms and showers are super well-kept, and there’s a great rooftop area. I think it would be a good fit for someone with a very flexible schedule so you can avoid peak times, or if you really want a pool since that’s difficult to find at other gyms.

Let me start by saying I have written maybe 4 reviews in my entire life. I very rarely find the need to leave feedback, especially online, but since this is an instance where people would be spending a lot of money, I figure I would leave my feedback.
Let me start with the positives: The gym is gorgeous. I joined in November of 2023, so I'm unaware of what it had previously looked like, but the gym facility itself has come a long way even from when I joined. The space is large and the machines are top notch. They offer many classes every day, so surely there is a time that works for you. The more popular classes like Pilates or spin are definitely tougher to get into during peak times, but if you are able to go during your lunch break you shouldn't have issues. The trainers and staff have been nothing but welcoming and kind. They maintain and take care of the place with great success, and I am always greeted when I walk through the door. The instructors are also wonderful. Each one I've had has been motivating and friendly, making the class a challenge but rewarding! They also have a PT clinic which I took advantage of after knee surgery and the PTs were such a joy to work with. Finally, the location is great for those living in the city. If all of these factors were the only feedback, I would give this place a 5/5. There are some great features about this place that make it a good place to work out.
Now for the cons: I'll start with the obvious one, the price. When I joined in November of 2023, they were still not offering tours to the place. So I was unsure of what it looked like when I signed up for the membership. It was something like a $225 sign up fee and $175/month. It's insane and IMO, really no membership is worth that kind of money, but I suppose I see why. They offer classes and really it was worth it for me because I wanted to use the pool, which is also very nice. The main con that is associated with this place is the culture. Gym culture now permeates every single gym in America, so that is not really SCB's fault, but for the price, you would think they would try and put a stop to that. Every finance-tech bro in the city seems to go to this gym. I make it a point to go during work so that I can go with the least amount of people as possible, but lord help you if you decide to go during peak hours. Between the gym shark and TREN, I'm not sure where people would find the space to even work out. Another comment said something about it being "stuck up" and I agree completely. Again, NOT the staff. The people who go there. It is one step away from being an influencer gym. I had one particular interaction that is indicative of what I mean. I decide to play some pick up basketball, and while I definitely am no world class b-ball player, I consider myself athletic. I just wanted to get some cardio in. Boy, did I make a mistake. The dude I was guarding got frustrated at my playstyle which led to him cursing me out and hurling homophobic slurs at me. I get the passion of the game gets to people, but this guy created such a cringe situation that really the only thing I could do was stare in awe. Everyone did that thing where they put their hand over their face to cover how embarrassing it was for him. Not to mention this guy was in his late 40s to early 50s, yelling at me, someone half his age. But hey, I figure better me that night than his wife later. That snapshot I think lends itself to the members of the gym. It is really unfortunate because the gym is beautiful and the classes are such a plus. It's just a shame that when average people like me go, they have to endure the culture that is heightened by the gym's exclusiveness.
I want to stress one more time that the staff at the gym are great. However, there is an issue with the type of person who goes there. The environment feels less like a place where you can go to better yourself, and more a place where you can watch a Bryce take up 3 machines.

This “gym” is a total joke. They claim to have classes but they are always booked out. They have no policy for people who reserve class spots and don’t show up so you are totally out of luck if you aren’t up at 12:01 one week prior to a class you want to take to reserve a spot. Even thought the facilities look nice, it’s no better than any cookie cutter gym membership. Don’t get lured in by their palates, hot yoga or early morning classes since you will never get in. Then, to top it off, they charge you to put your membership on hold. This place is the gym equivalent of a timeshare vacation scheme.

Since the reopening of the gym in November, I've become a dedicated participant in the Pilates program. I'm incredibly grateful for the outstanding instructors who have consistently demonstrated dedication and expertise in welcoming newcomers and guiding regulars toward improvement.
A special shout-out goes to Amandah, Monica, Megan, and Daniela for their tireless efforts in ensuring each session is not only safe but also incredibly effective. While each teacher's style differs, being able to learn from them has certainly added depth to my practice. Thanks to their commitment, I've experienced a noticeable reduction in aches and pains, significant improvements in both strength and flexibility, and a genuine anticipation for each visit to the club to catch up with friends.
This program truly stands out for its excellence. As I celebrated my first International Pilates Day yesterday, I felt compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude publicly. Thank you to Pilates (and Contrology) @ Sporting Club Bellevue for introducing me to a transformative practice.

I joined the Sporting Club a few months ago and I love it! The facilities are top notch and the amenities are a huge plus. I work remotely a few days a week, and the several lounge areas are perfect for me to utilize during the work day.
My only (slight) gripe is with the group fitness classes. While the classes are great and a challenging workout, many of them (Pilates, Hot Power Yoga, etc.) are really hard to get into since there is such high demand. There have also been a couple times when a class was cancelled last minute since the instructor couldn't make it and there was no sub available. I understand that emergencies come up, but we should at least be notified of any issues before showing up in person to take the class. I think if the club simply hired more coaches/offered more times for certain classes (which I understand they are working on) then that would help remedy both problems.
Other than that, the gym is great and I highly recommend everyone to check it out!

Beautiful place. But all the Pilate reformer group classes are booked. They will within one minute of being open. Impossible to get into. They need to offer more so that everyone can actually use the classes that we are paying for. Feeling a bit duped. And they know about the problem and have not a) hired more staff to teach b) created a system that limited the frequency of attending the classes so that everyone can take a turn. The place is over crowed. So while the place has a lot to offer good luck ever using anything.

As a returning member, I was thrilled to see the stunning renovations at Sporting Club at the Bellevue. The updates have truly elevated the club's atmosphere and amenities to a new level of luxury and comfort.
The new equipment in the fitness center is top-notch, and the expanded group fitness schedule offers a variety of classes to suit every interest and fitness level. The pool area is now even more inviting, with comfortable loungers and attentive poolside service.
The attention to detail in the renovations is evident everywhere, from the modern locker rooms to the beautifully appointed relaxation areas. The staff continues to impress with their professionalism and commitment to providing a welcoming environment for all members.
I highly recommend Sporting Club at the Bellevue to anyone looking for a premier fitness and wellness experience in Philadelphia. The renovations have truly transformed this club into a must-visit destination.

I read the google reviews before touring the new Sporting Club and had hoped for better. Weak weekend hours and frankly extremely overpriced for the lack of communication, poor management, and unhappy employees. Equipment room is nice but small considering the size of the rest of the gym. Unimpressed overall and think it will lose a lot of clients once the new Equinox opens later this year.

Not a buttoned up operation. The low google reviews make sense and for what The Sporting Club is charging members this is totally unacceptable.
First off let me mention the Front Desk staff and the manager I've been speaking with have been wonderful and very professional.
Gym opened Nov 1st and called it a soft opening and boy did they mean it. Was told by Sales that everything would be functional Jan 1st. It is now Jan 10th and still various parts of gym not ready. The men's sauna is still not operational and I certainly understand things break but what is completely unacceptable is the lack of communication and the inability of the owner to provide a time frame when this will be resolved.
This isn't planet fitness where I'm paying $10 a month , members are paying a lot of money for this gym but it currently run very poorly, get your acts together. It is astounding to me that takes 2+ months to fix a sauna.

I have been a member of the Sporting Club for over 20yrs, I am very excited to be back. I feel like I grew up in this place. The changes are amazing, a great atmosphere and social vibe. This place has been a staple in my life through good and bad, this has been a place of consistency and peace. The relationship built have lasted forever, very grateful for that. With that being said, WELCOME BACK SPORTING CLUB AT THE BELLUEVE ! Feels good to be HOME !

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Joining was probably my best decision of 2023 and I cannot wait to continue in 2024! The facilities are impeccable, everyone is so nice and friendly, and the location is so convenient for me. The locker rooms and showers are always so clean, the staff is so attentive and kind, and I am always able to book the classes I want or reserve a squash court. They also had a holiday Happy Hour that was absolutely amazing, and I hope they will do more events like this. This is by far the nicest gym I’ve ever seen and I cannot say enough nice things about this place. I can only speak from my personal experience, however I think the facilities are very nice and I have had only the best interactions with staff members.

My partner and I decided to join at the end of November based on representations that everything was up and running except for the pool area. Sadly, this was false. For example, the sauna in the men's locker room has not been functioning since we joined and we just recently learned that the steam room is also going to be out of order. The renovation is great, but it is disappointing that promised amenities have not been available. When we complained to management about the lack of promised amenities, it was extremely difficult to get anyone to respond. When we finally did hear back, it was via a phone call from Fran Cassidy the General Manager. Mr. Cassidy was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and dismissive of our concerns. If you are considering signing up, be aware that several amenities remain out of order and that management is generally dismissive of customer complaints.

I went to tour the Sporting Club and decided not to sign up for a couple of reasons. The facility was beautiful, but after speaking with a few members and staff, the facility may have a lot of work to do. Some of the workers were hired as full time, but weren't given enough hours to support that. After speaking with current members, they had a few notable nuances such as classes being full at all times, weekend hours not early enough, and gym equipment not up to par. I can't support a business that doesn't ensure the care of their own employees first, let alone the wants of their customers.

I toured the facility and had some concerns regarding the Sporting Club that were seemingly not able to be answered. The women's locker room was 1/3 the size of men's, the pool was still unfinished (yet full dues were to be charged), and some of my friends that go here stated most classes fill up too quickly. It's an esthetically pleasing facility, but not worth the price.

As a former member of the Sporting Cluv, I had high expectations for their renovation. I'm happy to report they have not only met, but exceeded my expectations. The space is beautiful and well designed. I'm able to take short breaks and catch up on my emails and phone calls between my work out. The equipment is by far the best I've ever experienced and the facilities are clean and top notch. Can't wait to watch the full reopening including the pool. Keep up the great work.

Feedback Not Considered
I walked in as a new member when the club first re-opened in November. Before I signed up, I noted their weekend hours were a little later for my schedule, but I was told there were plans to reevaluate weekend hours at the beginning of January. I checked in to revisit this issue at the end of the free trial that I was offered to see if anything had changed, because I (like any normal person) require a notice and heads up if I decided to switch back to my old gym. After being ignored three separate times attempting to contact the person who signed me up (2 emails and one note from her coworker), I went to speak to someone in person. I was told by a more senior position that there were in fact never any plans to reevaluate earlier weekend hours, because that's "how it's always been." The tone with which I was spoken to was like that of a child who was annoying their mom for extra candy - they treated me as a nuisance when I was simply attempting to get answers to very valid, easy questions and concerns. I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to treat you with respect, especially when you pay nearly 200$/month for the services. Just my hot take on the situation, though.
In a last ditch effort to see if things could be salvaged, I met with the top manager, Fran, this morning. I attempted to show him this google review that I had not yet posted, to which he declined reading. We instead had a conversation where I voiced my concerns, asking if he could send out a feedback forum to current patrons. His response was "don't tell me how to run my business." It was after this interaction that I solidified my decision to end my membership.
Since I'm already here, I may as well add all of my thoughts. The gym is lacking many pieces of equipment - a sentiment that employees have told me is shared by many of the members, not just myself. Random dumbbell weights missing, no long head rope for cable machines, no 5lb stack for cables, and much more.
This place is marketed as a high end fitness club. It's more of a social club in my opinion. There are more places to sit than room on the fitness floor. In the mornings, machines still have weights on them that were never re-racked the previous day. One other thing to note is that the pool still hasn't been opened as of Dec 3.
I am very disappointed with my experience at the Sporting Club so far. There is a lot of potential here for improvement, but my experience has been that no one is willing to consider feedback from patrons. I'm not sure what the point of having a soft opening with a free trial is if you're not going to accept constructive criticism.

Best fitness club in the Philadelphia, hands down. The value for the cost of membership which includes luxury amenities, boutique- style fitness classes, and a state-of-the-art fitness floor, is unparalleled; not to mention the many other extras. Alex and her team have made the rejoining process seamless. The seasoned and helpful staff and a gorgeous, updated facility made it a no brainer to rejoin. It’s truly top tier. Glad to be back!

The equipment they have invested in is BLOODY AMAZING! I look SOOOOOO forward to working out, it’s the best equipment I’ve used in all my life and I have gone to many gyms in a few countries. Truly amazing, I also love the lighting and the colors. It doesn’t matter what time I go, I can do my whole workout without any waiting on equipment or anything like that. Lockers are great and no locks necessary. I’m still learning all the new things they have going on. The staff are very friendly, unlike City Fitness where they are rather mean and I am so happy they finally reopened.

I used to go there on a day pass on many of my frequent visits to Philadelphia. I've just been told that when they reopen, day passes will not be available. The economic logic behind this decision eludes me (which is a polite way of saying: it makes no economic sense whatsoever, as a child of seven would be able to see clearly), and in any case it's quite a disappointment.

unfortunately I went against my better judgement and joined probably in 2018-2019ish. I only went for the suana/steam room do to a car accident i was in 2018. at 125$ month and still paying for parking, along with very unsanitary conditions I did what I had to do for myself using those 2 things.
however that’s neither here nor there. my REAL ISSUE was when covid approached when not only was I charged for a WHOLE MONTH ON 2 DIFF occasions ( 1 time where the gym was closed the whole month and the other when it was closed a week or 2 into the month) and than the gym “temporarily closed” for a few MONTHS within a few days of that month. When I asked to be refunded 3 different times in person( women membership manager poss “ alex”) I was told “ we don’t do refunds here, we’ll credit you a month when we reopen in January” ( bc at that time that was when they were supposed to reopen. so not only did they take my 125$ and not refund it they were just Holding it until they POSS reopened.) After beating a dead horse and believing they would do the right thing , they never reopened so I was beat for 125$( whole month ) and another 125$ ( maybe 2 weeks of that month it was opened). sent several emails since asking for the refund or some type of correspondence and absolutely NO REPLY. now years later as their about to reopen, still no reply’s to any emails concerning my money or months paid for that I wasn’t able to use. actually really classless & unacceptable behavior along with robbing my $

Ordered delivery. After three hours of calling the phone number on record, which only ever went to a full voicemail box, I cancelled thru Grubhub. Utter incompetence.
UPDATE: Apparently it’s actually a gym, and they’re offering food service thru Grubhub. It’s still terrible and to be avoided at all costs, but now it makes more sense why.

I feel sorry for the investors. Has potential but awful sales department. This attempt to have an exclusive, snobby atmosphere hinders the possible revenue this gym can generate. This is an update to the review I wrote on another platform. In short, my review was that it was ridiculous for the gym to not allow access to facilities such as pools or basketball courts to anyone under 18 except during children’s hours. This affects guests of the nearby hotel. Anyway, this time during children’s hours, I find out that anyone under 18, even a 16 or 17 year old, needs an adult nearby to use the pool or basketball courts. Not to mention, 16 and 17 year olds are not even allowed to access the exercise equipment on the third floor. Out of all the hotels I have been to, I have never been denied access to the pool as a teenager. Furthermore, I need supervision to even go to the pool during children’s hours.
When I go to the basketball court, most of it is occupied by people playing pickle ball. A suggestion would be to create separate times for people to play pickle ball and a separate time for people to play basketball.
Back to my previous point, I would suggest that anyone over the age of 13 can use both the first and second floors of the sporting club at any of the opening hours and without adult supervision. Anyone over the age of 16 can use the first, second, and third floor without adult supervision. Lastly, anyone under the age of 13 can use the first and second floors with adult supervision. This would eliminate the need for “children’s hours” and allow the nearby hotel to be more like any other hotels.
Judging by what others have wrote, it seems like the gym facilities are quite poorly maintained, though I have not seen the pool yet. The future of the sporting club seems bleak if changes are not implemented quickly.

The Hyatt Bellvue is a gross (and grossly overpriced) gym. Parking is $9 per 3 hour session. The showers have a slime on the floor which protrudes into your shoes and some showers are broken. Don't get me started on the hot tub! Spend your money somewhere else, this place sucks.

This has to be the worst membership experience to date. When I was ready to start working out again after a year of cancer treatment and I decided to joined the gym at the Bellevue. A month later I broke my wrist. I called to freeze my membership and they said that I would need to send an email, but they weren't sure if they had the right address and to call back and check during the week. ... It bounced and long story short they wouldn't honor the freeze because I deleted the bounced email and I could not "prove it". Pretty hard to type an email left handed the week you break your wrist, let alone resend, recall and then loose 2 months of membership, plus pay the fees.... yikes! Ironically, it's customer appreciation week.

I was there for a promotion $99 sign-up fee. They had some decent classes and there is a lot of space but I thought that there there wasn’t a lot of people there. I thought that it was kind of a sling in at times. Parking is always difficult so I always had to pay for parking when I was there. It was an OK Gym but for $100 month I thought that there could’ve been more classes.

I have been a member for many years and I love this club. It is very user-friendly -- staff are incredibly pleasant and go out of their way to be helpful. I only use the pool, but it is the only pool I know in the Phila. area that is Olympic size and kept at the proper temperature: other pools I've swum at are usually heated to about 86-90 degrees for arthritis patients -- but this is a lap-swimmer's pool. Sauna-whirlpool-steambath area is luxurious. Showers are fine, and lounge is great. I come about three-four times a week so this club is well worth the money for me -- my escape from the real world of work and worry. Plus you can suspend your membership and payment if you're going to be traveling for a month or two or three.

The club has significantly deteriorated over the past several years. It is dirty, poorly kept and has become more of a commercial space then a gym. It has gone from a luxury urban fitness center to a typical suburban box gym. It has lost its edge and the reasons it was worth the extra money.
