Josh leverages his decades of experience to personalize your training to best suit your end goal(s) within realistic and reasonable parameters. He is deliberate in building your workouts to help you push yourself in a safe and manageable fashion. His gym is an extension of his expertise, with a plethora of machines and gear that will fit your workout needs and then some.
In training with Josh, you get accountability and consideration on a one on one level which I have not come across elsewhere. Each session is a breath of fresh air, especially considering the many responsibilities and obligations life is constantly bombarding you with. Josh is also understanding of those outside variables, working with you in a communicative manner to fit sessions in your schedule as best possible.
You will be hard pressed to find such a well rounded service for training and working out anywhere else.

I first came to Josh while I was undergoing fertility treatments. I wanted to improve my fitness to prepare for pregnancy, and to regain some sense of agency amidst all the things I couldn't control. First I tried an app-based trainer but immediately injured myself, and realized I would need a teacher. I'd always thought personal trainers were for athletes, not shlubs like me, but I didn't know where else to start, so I googled and came across Josh and sent him an email.

I have never been athletic at all and was prepared for this to be a shame-filled and discouraging experience. I decided to take a leap and trust Josh, and over the next couple months I was astonished to discover I wasn't half bad at this. I was a total novice, but I was learning quickly and making noticeable progress, and actually enjoying it and feeling proud of myself. It helped me feel like I was accomplishing something that would help my situation, when the rest of my life was on hold, hoping and waiting for baby.

Josh is interested in improving your quality of life: physical functioning and well-being vs goals like "get down to a size zero". He recognizes that nobody is going to do something that makes them feel bad. He meets you where you are. He starts every session with questions about how you're doing so he can calibrate how hard to push you that day. On off days he doesn't judge - just explains that if you're making this part of your life, you're going to have off days, and you have to be able to dial it up or down so you can still do something. "More" is better than "some" but "some" is infinitely better than "none". For someone who's struggled with consistency and follow through, this was a helpful and motivating approach.

I did get pregnant and trained with Josh through week 37. This helped me have a very healthy pregnancy despite gestational diabetes. And during the birth, I drew on the strength I had built over the last year and a half, physical as well as mental. I knew that I can do harder things than I think. That my body is more capable than I give it credit for. This powered me through the 37 hours it took to get kiddo here.

Training Revelations is a personal training business owned, managed and run solely by Josh Wolinsky in his very well-equipped gym. He has not only all the basic strength training equipment, he also has special custom-made equipment and equipment for strengthening and/or rehabbing any area of the human body.

Before coming to Training Revelations, I did my research. I looked up countless personal trainers online, read their reviews, and interviewed a few. None of them felt like a good match for me.

I worked with personal trainers twice before in my life, several years ago. I hated working out. I knew it was "good for me," but I was not motivated so each training experience was short lived.

Finally, about five years ago, (at age 52), I knew that I needed to work on strengthening my body. I had begun to feel the aches and pains of growing older, and what would later become a diagnoses of inflammatory (autoimmune) arthritis.

When I met with Josh for our initial consultation, I could tell by his demeanor, the questionnaire he gave me, and his written policies that he was extremely professional, serious, and thorough in his approach and philosophies around strength training and overall wellness.

It has now been five years that I have been coming to Training Revelations. The mere fact that I have been strength training for five years is a testament to how excellent Josh and his thoughtful approach to wellness is. He has, and continues to develop customized workouts to help my entire body, to increase my strength and flexibility, to build my resilience and increase my knowledge of my own body and develop excercises and techniques to help myself. He has been helping me develop my training IQ. Josh has taught me self-myofascial release (SMR) techniques, foam rolling and many stretches that improve my quality of life and help me live an active life. When my arthritis acts up, or when I've incurred an injury outside of training, Josh has always been able to rehabilitate me. He has taught me that there is always something that we can do in our sessions that I will benefit from.

This includes mentally as well. Josh's approach includes "table time," where I have short breaks between exercises. During this time, Josh and I talk. He uses this time to counsel me on proper nutrition, healthy life-style habits, self-care, even setting healthy boundaries. His passion and objective are to teach me how to be my best self- physically and emotionally, He really cares and it shows.

I am absolutely so fortunate to have met Josh. I continue to benefit from his skill, knowledge, experience, dedication, passion, and his endless efforts to see me grow in my capacity for physical and overall wellness.

Josh has never been late once in the five years I've been training. He also has never once cancelled our session. He is incredibly consistent and dedicated to his clients. I see him twice a week. He has a unique sense of humor that comes out sometimes and it's delightful and quirky. He has an extensive collection of music and has expanded my music tastes. He's also willing to turn the music off it that's what I need.

Josh is an excellent teacher and an excellent communicator. He holds my feet to the fire when I start to slack off. He's not shy about calling me out when I tell him I'm not making good choices. He doesn't want to care more about a client's wellness than they care for themselves. This training is a partnership. Sometimes it's tough love and sometimes it's humor and gentle reminders, but it is always 1000% care, consistency, education, and positivity and inspiration that Josh pours into each session, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, and year after year. I'm so so grateful that Josh is my trainer. I'm now stronger mentally and physically that I ever have been, and it is largely because of Josh Wolinsky and the training and support he provides.

Josh is a wellness focused trainer who provides 1 on 1 training in his immaculate and very well provisioned gym. He is incredibly thoughtful and tailors his training based on the needs of his clients.

I have been training with Josh for over two years. I came to Josh as someone who enjoyed running and cycling but had very limited knowledge of strength training. Josh carefully taught me the fundamentals of strength training and explained how strength training could keep me healthier and directly impact the sports I love doing.

Josh is the best private trainer I've ever had. He is not your typical trainer, he is very passionate about what he does and it shows. His model is a 1 on 1 training session with no one else present in the gym.

I used to struggle with having a sustainable workout, and sometimes would have a hard time trying new exercises but Josh made it possible. He emphasizes sustainability, thinking gray and increasing your training IQ. He makes sure you take breaks and teaches you to optimize workouts. He personalizes the workout for each client. It's always enjoyable to train with him as he's very friendly. As you're working out, he will explain the ins and outs of everything you need to know that pertain to your workouts and health. It's sort of a school for workouts. Which led to me feeling confident if I ever want to workout on my own.

With my previous trainer I had an injury, but Josh prioritizes safety. He also makes sure to ask if you're running a sleep deficit or if you're tired before you start your session.

In addition to all of this, his gym has every equipment one could ever need and if that's not impressive enough, he had 2 custom steel handles made for the lat pull down machine because he felt I and other clients could benefit from using those instead.

I highly recommend Josh and his gym. I am extremely happy with my experience here and I see myself being a long term client. He goes above and beyond every single time to make sure you get the most out of your session. Give it a shot, it's definitely what I needed.

Josh is patient and kind, but also focused on reality and what it takes to succeed. If you’re looking for support for your whole person, this is the right place for you. He will meet you where you are, one day at a time, and there is an equal amount of pushing you and empathizing with you with the long term in mind. You will talk stress, sleep, diet, and exercise, not just working out. If you want to change your body, be ready to start to change your lifestyle. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I generally don’t write reviews unless a place is particularly bad or particularly good. For Josh's gym, it is most definitely the latter. I’m proud to wholeheartedly recommend his gym and more importantly, him as a trainer. Josh is more knowledgeable than any other trainer I’ve been with and freely shares his wealth of knowledge from health and wellness, nutrition, sustainable growth and of course strength and conditioning. What sets Josh apart from other trainers is his desire for a personal connection. It is easy to see Josh as a friend and not just the other side of the transactionary service. And all this for a great price of $600 per 10 sessions.

Josh’s style of training is focused around sustainability as well as education. It is not uncommon to use a significant amount of the hour spent with him simply resting from a hard set, or even the whole hour used for stretching if you tell him places are feeling particularly sore or have pain. During times of rest, Josh often educates you on various concepts that can help you with strength training, nutrition or general wellness for life. For those who want to spend the hour doing focused high intensity workouts and do not wish to interact with their trainer to such a level, Josh is likely not the best trainer for you. But for those who want to learn about all-rounded wellness and are committed to learn and apply techniques to live a more comfortable life, not just in terms of weight training, there is no better trainer than Josh.

I started training with Josh seven months ago. I am 23 and had one personal trainer three years ago. Before I came to Josh, I had been training in commercial gyms on my own. I was concerned about a previous injury (although I had recovered) and found it difficult to move up in weights. Josh has helped me get significantly more progress in strength training, especially in big movements with proper form.

The sessions are 1-on-1s with individualized programming. We usually focus on one body part per session. Josh pays continuous attention to form and techniques and makes sure I fully understand each movement. His gym is clean and well-equipped. It even has tons of specialty equipments that one will never find in other commercial gyms and studios. For example, Josh owns a huge collection of specialty bars for different variations of the big movements. He also has many equipments for stretching and therapy.

Josh has decades of experience and knowledge from training with a diverse range of clients in all age groups. In the rest intervals between sets, he always spends time sharing with me his understanding of body-building, therapy, and overall wellness. This is very helpful as it helps me understand how to program consistent training routines and maintain motivation in the long run.

Josh trains one person at a time, so you will always be the only client in the gym. Compared to my other personal training experience (a studio shared by group classes and personal trainers), he is way more knowledgable and affords more privacy despite charging a lower price. His place offers extensive choices of equipment along with the benefits of a personal studio. It is great pleasure working with Josh, and I highly recommend him to anyone hoping to progress in their fitness journey.

If Josh is not the most knowledgeable trainer on the planet, then he definitely is in the top ten. He's honed his craft over decades of experience. His clients range from all body types, backgrounds, and have a variety of goals. Want to recover from surgery? Check, he's better than any physical therapist I've ever met. Want to just get stronger and in shape? Check, he has a safe and non-threatening, non-judgmental atmosphere that will help address your needs. Busy professional who wants to stay on their "A game"? Check, his programs are expertly designed to get the most out of every minute spent at his facility (which is a monument to physical culture). What he doesn't have are flashy signs with tacky slogans with empty promises marching mindlessly on social media. What he lacks in advertising he more than makes up with substance. I've told him any number of times to raise his rates. He refuses to do so because he wants to remain accessible to those who need him. Improving one's life with fitness is his life's calling and after just one hour session with him, you'll see what I mean and you'll agree with me.

I have been training with Josh Wolinsky for about two years now. After looking through the Training Revelations website and reading about Josh online, I thought he and I could be a good match for reaching my fitness goals. I had not been to a gym in years and felt nervous about starting a workout program. But after a little encouragement from my family I decided to give Josh a call. After a brief conversation on the phone, where Josh took time to answer all my questions, we set up an initial complimentary meeting where Josh learned about my goals and I learned how Josh works with his clients. After meeting Josh, I knew he would be a great match for me and my workout needs.
Josh is patient and thorough. He has helped me gradually become more fit and confident of my abilities in the gym. I enjoy Josh’s steady, consistent pace and deep knowledge of strength training and fitness.
Aside from these traits, I appreciate Josh’s quirky sense of humor too! I also like that his gym is a private environment where I get one-on-one attention during workouts. Training Revelations gym is spacious, immaculately clean and overall just a beautiful space.
An added bonus is the convenient location with plenty of free on-street parking :)
Josh is a joy to work with and I couldn't ask for more in a trainer. Without a doubt, Josh and his gym are ten stars!

I started with Josh in 2008. My youngest child was four, and I was somewhat out of shape. I felt like I needed something to get me back on track. I loved fact that the training sessions were one on one. Josh is very encouraging and stresses proper form. He also always seems to be able to get me to work hard, but not so hard that I burn out. We worked out online during Covid and are now back in person. One thing that has been very valuable over time is Josh's expertise in rehabilitation. I have at various points had tennis elbow, back issues, and a broken wrist. I’m happy to report that Josh has helped me successfully rehab all of these, as well as build and maintain strength.

Training Revelations is the best personal trainer in the city. I trained with Josh for a year prior to having my first child. I initially started training to strengthen a bad back and to learn to lift without injuring myself. Josh set up a great program and taught me so much about weight lifting and holistic fitness. He taught me stretches and exercises for my back that helped enormously and that I still practice on my own. Not only is Josh the best at ensuring a safe workout before and during pregnancy, he was able to help me keep lifting through my 8th month of pregnancy. Yes, I did barbell back squats for the first time in my third trimester! I look forward to a day when I have the time to return to workout with him again.

I want to make this review useful to you, dear readers. I could just write about what a great person Josh Wolinsky is, how he does things personally and with his business that are at times more beneficial to his clients than himself. How his life experience and his wisdom have come together to create something closer to the Ancient Greek conception of a "Gymnasium" - a place of both physical exercise and the imparting of wisdom.

However, I'll speak more on the practicalities:

* His private, large gym is very well equipped. The building and his equipment are well-maintained.
* His style is very amenable to those who value gaining strength: of body, of mind and of fitness.
* His training style has an emphasis on sustainability.
* His rates are extremely fair.
* His training is one-on-one, and you’ll get the benefit of his decades of experience.

I had the privilege and pleasure of being a client of Josh's at Training Revelations for over 3 years: a period in my life that was quite turbulent for me personally. I went there at first to merely gain strength to stave off a lower back problem, but it became so much more than that. I've never been as fit as I've been under Josh's tutelage. His training was a great help to me in overcoming my challenges, and his lessons on wellness, tenacity, and resilience will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Thank you, Josh!

Reader, if your life is ready for a tailored wellness and fitness program, call or email Josh Wolinsky. I was hesitant to do it at first, but I'm very glad I had loved ones that pushed me to better myself. Josh was the right person at the right time for me. He could be for you, too. :)

I started going to Training Revelations almost six years ago (summer of 2016). When I began, I had exactly no experience with strength training, or with personal training in general, but I knew (OK, my wife told me) that I needed to start doing _something_. I was very lucky, because Josh was, and remains, a great teacher: patient, encouraging without being too much of a cheerleader, unafraid to correct when it's called for, and thoughtfully committed to helping his trainees not just get stronger, but live healthier lives. Starting, and continuing, training here has honestly been one of the smarter decisions I made in my 40s.

I had the hardest time of my life as a freshly-moved-to-the-US immigrant experiencing the cultural shock that Pittsburgh can be -a society that can show a lot of friendliness, but that tends to be extremely clannish and segregative- so I found in Josh’ space a sigh of relief.

I first knew about his gym through some of the reviews on Yelp + Google, and Training Revelations for me became the first and only choice to help my husband abate his constant back pain and discomfort experienced through several decades of no exercise and an extenuating history of sitting for way too long at work. I do remember being so shocked to see the tremendous improvement in my husband’s physique and psyche in a very short period (not only he stopped complaining about back pain, improved his posture and looked toned and firm, but also his anxiety and depression decreased significantly).

Even though I saw the incredible changes in him, it took a while for me to jump into TR because Josh’ approach to exercise is so unique, and his programs are so well conceived and catered for the very specific needs and conditions of each one of his students, Josh is in high demand. Besides, and in view of the above, those students that decide and can stick with him, do it forever (I think some of them have been around since Josh was a trainer in some other space, decades ago, in Shadyside). The only times that his students do not progress is due to circumstances outside of the working out experience per se (moving to another city, illnesses, or just the average tragedies and tribulations in life).

I finally got to meet Josh in July 2019. Immediately I noticed why the people that got to train with him very rarely leave his training system. For me, it was amazing to see how my health improved, after training with him for a little bit more than a year - currently being a little more than two years, and I definitely noticed that I am much stronger than I was before.

I do have to say that if you are the kind of person that looks for dramatic physical changes in very short periods, Josh is not going to be a good match for you (unless you are genetically blessed and/or too young, that even if you eat 20 pizzas a day and barely sleep you still don’t accumulate any fat). Training with Josh is really a game changer, but also requires a lot of commitment, patience and mental effort (beyond the physical one), which I can imagine not everybody
can do. If anything of what you’ve read until here rings a bell for you, you have some mental fortitude, you don’t expect to have a beach body after a month, you have a quirky sense of humor and you enjoy the glories of The Complete Singles Collection, by ABBA (a personal
request for me from Josh’s large collection of sounds), TR and Josh are 100% a match made in heaven for you.

I have been training with Josh for about 9 months now. I have dabbled in weight training, zumba, yoga, circuits before joining Training Revelations, but nothing stuck. This is the first time in my life I consistently work out and in fact, I enjoy it. Josh knows how to motivate me and push me hard but not so hard that I quit. He did it through imparting knowledge about fitness and kinesthetic awareness, and by really listening to my body and customizing training so that I would find it challenging but manageable, and rewarding, as I see vast improvements in me. Speaking of customizing and personalizing, one of the best things about Josh's gym is HE TRAINS ONE PERSON AT A TIME! THERE IS NOBODY ELSE AT THE GYM. The gym is a commercial level gym in terms of the equipments but he uses it as a studio. He gives his undivided attention to his clients. It’s not semi-personal where there are other trainers training other clients at the same time, like most other “personal” training studios. It’s literally just me and him and a whole arsenal of equipments. So if you're like me, a beginner and self-conscious about training in front of others, this is an amazing set up and the sessions are very reasonably priced too. You can tell from the price point and from talking to Josh right away, that he isn't doing this for money. He genuinely enjoys training and is beyond dedicated to help his clients attain their fitness goals.

I've been training with Josh for about the last twelve months, the last five of which I was pregnant. I came to Josh as someone who had done lots of cardio on and off at various points, but with basically no experience weight training. I was interested in trying something new, and it quickly became a core part of my wellness routine that I looked forward to. I trained for an hour twice weekly.

Working with Josh in his facility was a dream way to learn something new. The space is beautiful, well-equipped with every piece of equipment you could possibly imagine. And, a core part of Josh's training philosophy is not just helping people to do the workout in the moment, but educating them about weight training in general. He has a deep body of knowledge about physical health that allows him create highly personalized training routines for clients from many walks of life.

I also really appreciated how safe the gym felt during Covid. Since it's literally just you and Josh in a large gym, taking safety precautions, it felt like a very safe way to get some exercise despite the pandemic.

Josh is wonderful - if you're thinking about starting to work with a personal trainer, I would highly recommend him.

I've been training with Josh for the past 11 months. I am a healthy and relatively athletic middle-aged guy, but never consistently weight trained before. Josh started training me once/week, but once he had another space open in his schedule, and I got into the routine of working with him, it's basically been twice/week for the past 9 months. Josh is expert in weight training, health, and injury prevention. Josh told me he's been weight-training since his teens, and he is "steeped" in physical culture and this really pays off in his ability to create a personalized weight-training program.

This is the longest in my life that I have ever been consistent about weight training. Both functional and health/strength/aesthetics have improved for me since working with Josh. He is very professional, and his attention to safety, form, understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the psychology of training with the right intensity to keep me wanting to get stronger have really helped improve the quality of my life.

If I could give Josh more than 5 stars I would. Also, his rates are probably the best in town for personal training. He's honest and transparent.

Finally, a note about the facility. Josh's gym is beautifully designed, has an amazing amount of equipment, and for all of my sessions, it's just been him and me in the space. The degree of personal attention and his commitment to me as a client are two more things that make Josh and his business among the best.

I began training with Josh at Training Revelations in 2015.  By far,
this is the longest I have ever maintained a consistent workout
routine in my life.  I attribute this in large part to Josh's specific
approach to personal training and wellness.

Josh is extremely knowledgeable about all facets of the body,
exercise, gym equipment, and nutrition.  These skills became apparent
when he designed and implemented an individualized training program
for me.  He focuses on helping you achieve long-term fitness goals,
but adjusts workouts weekly and monthly to meet your particular needs
at different stages along your fitness journey.  For example, before I
started working with Josh, I had lower back pain that would flair up
from time to time.  Josh has been mindful of my injury history, while
modifying workouts, catering to any limitations I might have, so I can
continue to progress.  Over the years he has helped me develop a
stronger, and more resilient core, which has substantially reduced the
frequency of painful back episodes I used to have.

Josh is also good at understanding my current mental and physical
capacity for training on any given day.  As a result, he is able to
make adjustments to my program which set me up for success, despite
work fatigue, or occasional lapses in motivation.  This means he
understands when I can be pushed hard, and when I need a lighter day
if I'm particularly burned out for other reasons. This has enabled me
to maintain my fitness routine during the past 5 years without
dreading them.  I enjoy my workouts which hasn't always been the case
with prior training experiences.

The Training Revelations studio is great.  The facility and equipment
is comprehensive, clean, and orderly.  Because only one client is
working out at a time, it reinforces how personalized the experience
truly is.

I also want to note that during the COVID-19 crisis, Josh has made
himself available through video conferencing to help me continue to
maintain an exercise routine at home.  I definitely recommend Training
Revelations for personal training! Josh's expertise, and unique
approach to training, has allowed me to consistently work out in a way
that is sustainable for the long term.

I started training with Josh 20 years ago and I am now 64 years old. .He is a very professional trainer and designed a strength and wellness program customized for me. He has given me accountability and motivation on every one of my workouts. As I age I have become more aware of the need to keep my core strong and my strength up. The workouts have variety and are challenging which makes each session rewarding.I have noticed my balance has also improved as Josh stresses good form and understands the bodies physiology.I recommend him as a personnel trainer at any age If you stay with it the benefits are all yours.

I have strength trained and cycled most of my life and have run 5k races for the past 5 years. My workouts were always done in my home gym, never in a commercial setting nor with a trainer. I reached out to Josh over a year ago when my training had become stale and I had lost motivation

Josh’s approach is comprehensive with specific attention to each individual client. He is a physical culturist; training and wellness are not only his profession but also his calling and passion. Josh is intent on educating his clients, with attention to safety, injury avoidance, and sustainability. His background in social work and his expertise in training well-equips him to focus on health and wellness, both mental and physical.
During my first weeks of training with Josh, I learned that total body fitness is important and that proper form and technique are keys to success. Josh tailored my workouts to compliment my cycling and running and to focus on my strengths and weaknesses. Within a short time, I was at my personal best in overall fitness and strength, and my 5k times were lowered significantly.
Josh is not an in your face trainer, he is a guide for your wellness and a partner on your training journey.

I almost don't want to review Training Revelations because I want it to remain a secret gem in Pittsburgh. But the word is out - Josh provides a one-of-a-kind service and experience in Training Revelations that serves both body and mind. I have been training with Josh for about 3 months.

I have experience with other training and group training both in Pittsburgh and NY and Josh offers something unique and personal. He cares about your well-being and he checks-in each session to make sure your workouts aren't causing injury but also pushes you and cares about you having a sustainable return to, or beginning of, physical culture in your life. In particular, I had never had experience with or exposure to strength training which I always related to bulky men in the mirrored corners of gyms I had been to; I didn't think it was something I could become good at or enjoy. I enjoy strength training very much and feel empowered learning more, even that I may be good at it or have the ability to become stronger. Even on the days I don't necessarily want to train, I am happy I showed up and it quickly becomes fun to work with Josh. Also, once you get to know him, he lets out some very entertaining jokes - a plus.

I've been training with Josh for about 5 months now and it has been a great experience. Josh personalizes your workout routine to make sure it meets your goals and expectations. He understands the nuances of tweaking exercises to fit your body type. He understands that not everyone has to Dead-lift to see "gainz". He does his best to make sure you do what is needed to improve while keeping things fresh by throwing in new exercises.

The sessions are always 1-on-1 where you are guaranteed his full attention. The private gym he owns is the most well equipped gym I've seen (Gold's/LA Fitness etc do not even come close).

When I first joined the gym, I had a broken hand and Josh helped me rehabilitate from that injury. He has a background in physical therapy and social work in addition to his training so he would be a good fit for you if injuries are a concern.

Josh understands the importance of sustainability when it comes to working out. Expect to learn how to workout and perform exercises such that you can work out years from now when you are retired in Hawaii.

Personally speaking, I find his prices extremely reasonable. You get discounts for buying 10-packs, an offer I have utilized since Day 1. If you're reading this review I suggest you stop and give him a call right now. It will be worth your time :)

Without any degree of overstatement I can say that Josh Wolinsky offers the highest quality personal training that I have ever received.
I have worked with high level athletic-specific trainers, trainers at large commercial gyms for the purposes of bodybuilding and quite a bit on my own. I have been working with Josh for a year as of this past July.

Josh blows my other experiences out of the water for the following reasons: 1) The training and gym experience itself is superb. The individual attention and quality of training that he provides is unrivaled; you work out in a private gym with lifts built around your specific physiology - no distractions, no ego, incredibly high quality equipment, and 100% of the focus on you and your wellness - no sales gimmicks or other B.S. - sustainability, wellness and results - thats it! (No matter your level of experience btw... a large majority of Josh's clients are beginners with me as an outlier.) 2) The level of knowledge and versatility that Josh provides is truly unique. Josh's level of knowledge regarding biomechanics, training regimens, bodybuilding techniques, joint health and wellness, dieting, and psychological fitness is incredible. Any question you have he can answer; any fitness need you have, he can accommodate. The breadth of his training experience is exceedingly rare. It is effective and all-encompassing. I have lingering shoulder and back issues but was able to see significant gains in strength, size, appearance and sports performance (not to mention mental health!) 3) Training here is economically, physically and mentally sustainable in the long term. Training Revelations is a sustainable program built around injury prevention and all around wellness - put another way, this is something that will provide you tangible results, and will motivate you to keep working out. Many who try to get in shape do so in stops and starts. Those booms and busts ultimately get you nowhere. This program allows you to stay consistent and truly get better.

TLDR - Josh is the man, his programs are incredibly well informed, you are the only focus when you go and train, you will get results, feel better (physically and psychologically), and you will want to keep going consistently. If you have the opportunity to get on his schedule, count yourself as fortunate. He specifically made me wait a year to write this review so that I could truly reflect on my experience; none of what I have written above is exaggeration. This place rocks!! I am incredibly thankful to have found it!

I am 51 and in better shape than I was at 25. I have been with Josh since March 2008 and expect to be at Training Revelations in 2038. Trust me when I say I never cared about heath or fitness in my entire life. At 40 I showed up with many long term injuries. Lower back, knee and joint pain primarily.

I arrived and the studio was amazing. Everything and anything one could ever need. So many specially designed and fabricated items for his clients over the years, it blew my mind. Josh stresses functional fitness for everyday living. It was not about how much weight I could lift for how long. It was about changing my lifestyle. Being able to lift my child off the ground or a suitcase in a plane properly. Most importantly, regardless of your condition (or how you feel that day) there is always something that can be done to make you a stronger person.

I have and continue to travel about 120 nights a year. I raise my family in Cranberry Township, 25 miles from Training Revelations. That’s right, I am willing to drive 45 minutes each way for Josh’s expertise. He is the most reliable person I know. In over 1,000 training sessions he has never showed up even 5 minutes late, ever. Over the past 10 years Josh has become many things beyond my personal trainer. He is my life coach and most importantly a true friend.

I started training at Training Revelations with Josh almost a year ago to help me get into shape for my early summer wedding. Not only did I get in shape and feel great for my wedding, I enjoyed training so much that I am still training, and I plan to continue doing so well into my future. Josh’s style of training includes knowledge sharing for long term sustainability. I appreciate that he is focused on wellness, not just short term fitness goals.

Before training with Josh, I did not have the confidence to strength train using heavier weights or intimidating gym equipment for fear of injuring myself or using improper form to yield less than desirable results. As a female in my early 30s, I was used to working out on my own using the same exercises and focusing heavily on cardio activities with mediocre results. Over the course of the past year, I gained an understanding for the importance of programming by cycling intensity and using varying exercises that will work best for my body, abilities, and goals, and I continue to experience very positive results. Each week, my strength and confidence progress. It is also fun to use the top-of-the-line equipment in the Training Revelations gym. I never knew some exercises/equipment even existed before!

One of the many things that make Training Revelations great is the one-on-one sessions, which allow a forum for working out and discussing personalized fitness/healthy eating concerns without fear of judgement. With Josh’s approach, the training sessions are always customized to me, and we work together - leveraging Josh’s impressive and extensive skills, knowledge, and experience - on deciding which exercises to do each time. Occasionally, Josh teaches me stretching and weight training recovery techniques that are important for alleviating pain and are in support of continued exercising.

Josh is reliable, very professional, and a pleasure to train with. Whether it’s been a normal day or I’ve had a stressful work day, I always look forward to my twice-a-week sessions where I can work out while enjoying Josh’s excellent sense of humor and eclectic music collection. I should also mention that Josh is a very friendly guy who is easy to talk to and get along with! I would absolutely recommend Training Revelations for anyone - female, male, young, old - interested in improving their fitness and wellness in a positive and pleasant environment.

I am a 34 yr old woman in my 3rd month of training with Josh, and have had a very positive experience. I'm in much better shape now and also have a greater understanding of how to program my own workouts moving forward. Not only is Josh very knowledgeable, but he has long-running personal experience with training himself and rehabilitating himself from serious injury. He is perfect if you are looking for someone to help teach you how to work out in a sustainable, adaptable way that can work for the rest of your life, rather than a very intense workout you either get bored or injured by. I never dread going into my sessions because they are always manageable, enjoyable and very efficient at making you stronger. No gimmicks here.

Additionally, Josh is awesome. He is highly professional but once you get to know him he has a surprising and disarming sense of humor that make you look forward to your next session and makes for a very comfortable, laid back atmosphere. Don't be scared off by the shabby industrial facade of the building (soon to be rennovated), inside you will find a very impressive facility and skilled personal trainer.

I wanted to find a trainer who was extremely knowledgeable about working towards a holistic health and well being state, strength training, stretching and recovery, and more importantly somewhat who could work with me to build a program that was customized to meet my unique goals. I found this and more with Josh. Just reading the other reviews, I could tell that Josh was a person who cares about and invests in the people he trains. Most of his clients have been with him for years - and are still getting results!! Whether they are rehabbing, pre-habbing, strength training or body sculpting - they all spoke so highly of Josh's ability to meet their training needs and do it consistently. I was equally impressed with Josh's background in social work as described on his website - which adds a great dynamic to his ability to effectively interact with people from various backgrounds and walks of life.

Since I had never worked with a trainer before, I initially contacted Josh by phone. We spoke briefly and agreed on a time where I could pop by his studio for an initial consultation. Loved that idea by the way! When we met, Josh asked a lot of questions to get to know me, my lifestyle, my fitness and personal goals - which was great because (as he explained) training is more than lifting weights and breaking a sweat - it's a lifestyle of wellness. He also explained how he works with clients (scheduling, communication, developing training plans, follow-up, etc.). One of the many things I admire about him is that Josh doesn't just train anyone. He's not interested in quick fixes - he'd rather focus his time and energy to work with people who are interested in learning, growing and making physical culture a part of their regular lives (whether with him or on their own).

So I decided to give it a shot!

In early March 2016 we began training together. It started out with an initial session where Josh could assess my capabilities and I can get a sense of his training style. From the start, I felt at ease in his studio and with him. He communicated not only what to do, but also why the things were were doing were important. His wealth of knowledge about the human anatomy, how the body works, and of various strength training techniques was tremendous and obvious. His demeanor was easy going and so comfortable that I never once felt awkward, uncomfortable, or "like an idiot" for not knowing something.

Fast forward - I've been working with Josh two days a week since March and can already see and feel the difference. I am much stronger than when I started (being able to do things I was afraid to do--like "pull ups"--with relative ease now), I am more knowledgeable about my own body (its abilities and limitations), and I'm more confident about achieving my fitness goals. That's all thanks to Josh. I am so excited about my sessions each week because Josh keeps them fresh, new, interesting and most importantly challenging! And the results have come!!

If you're considering getting a trainer and want someone who can be a strong partner in helping you reach your fitness and wellness goals, I highly recommend Josh! For me, he's one of the best experiences I've had since moving here and has beyond delivered on every expectation I've had working with a trainer.
