Absolutely marvelous gym that caters to each individual's strength goals and current abilities.
The coaches (I love them both, Ahmed and Ben--and Chris when he fills in) at Graduate Hospital location) are always available and there is a 1:6 ratio or less of coaches to attendees with every session. They actively assist (if that is wanted) and will always be available to help you do the best lift with the proper form for your abilities. They help prepare the workout that is right for you.
For me, I needed to pass physical ability tests to get my job. I told the coaches what the tests were, and they helped structure something specific to my needs. After procuring the job, I continued to work out, adding additional exercises.
Their value proposition is phenomenal. Where else can you get a trainer 100% of the time to help you reach your goals for this investment in your health?
It is also an extremely inclusive gym, with positiveness all around from the trainers and other members. I am female in my 60's and have always felt welcomed and valued.

I joined WBC a little under a year ago, fast approaching my 60th birthday and wanting to start my next 30(ish) years in the best possible shape. I needed a place to help me meet my goals, and then set new ones, give me guidance and hold me accountable. The proof is in the results. In under a year, with the help of WBC and it's knowledgeable and friendly coaches (shout out to Ahmad and recent addition Des), I'm feeling great about my progress -- shedding fat, building muscle and hitting new PR's regularly. I do not miss my spare tire, but welcome back the "guns" I've missed for a long while. WBC is a welcoming place for all ages and body types. No judgment. Just hard work... and results.

As a person in the field of Kinesiology that seeks to make improvements for people, I am appreciative of what Warhorse South has done for me ... Since my membership began in the Spring of 2025, I have continuously improved my overall health and well-being, reached new territories with personal records, and found a welcoming and supportive environment. In the past 6 months, Warhorse South has truly transformed my relationship with exercise and movement. My previous experiences over the past 12 years involved frequent injuries that limited my mobility, and the years before that were inundated with negative interactions with athletics coaches, 'bro culture', and a misunderstanding of competition and culture that resulted in a lack of confidence, injuries, and bad habits. I've found at Warhorse South an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive. Warhorse has crafted a culture that makes me feel confident to continue powerlifting for the foreseeable future.
A big shout out goes to Coach A (they know who they are)... I appreciate your efforts and encouragement! You're a gem of a human!

The Warhorse membership is worth every penny. The strength gains I’ve seen in one month since joining has been incomparable to any other training program or personal training I’ve gotten before. Coach Ahmad is the absolute best and will tailor the training regimen to everyone’s personal preferences, needs, and injuries. The small group training format ensures everyone gets proper attention and spotters, and the coaches will remember your name week one. I’ve never been one to make friends at the gym, but the friendliness of the coaches and other members has gotten me out of my shell! I would recommend this gym to anyone regardless of experience.

I joined Warhorse a couple months ago and am loving it! The equipment is all high quality, the training programs are written for you, and the coaching is great. Ahmad always pushes you to lift more weight than you think you can! There’s a great community, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I always look forward to going.

I've been a member of the Warhorse gym for over a year now and have loved it. I was an athlete in high school and college and always enjoyed how my strength and conditioning coaches would do my programming and I'd have scheduled workouts. After college I joined a normal gym and tried to continue lifting on my own, but never really kept a consistent schedule or made any progress. So when I saw Warhorse opened up a Grad Hospital location it seemed like a perfect fit. And so far it has been. For the first time in years, I have been making progress in the weight room again. I go 3-4 times per week. Ahmad and Ben are great at keeping me accountable and pushing me to do more challenging exercises or heavier weights. I've already referred 3 friends to join and they love it too. I'd highly recommend anyone in the area join Warhorse, whether you are a lifelong athlete or just getting into fitness.

The people here make it very special. The coaches (Ahmad and Ben) are invested in your progress, and they are both motivating and very funny (I laugh frequently). They will improve your technique and help you progress appropriately. I'm impressed by how much they personalize the workout to you. I truly look forward to my workouts and I am so glad I joined this community.

There is so much I can say about how great this place and the coaches are. I joined in October 2024 after a 7 months of chemo for leukemia. I was really nervous coming in to meet with Chris but he was awesome. He completely met me where I was and hyped me up. Ahmad and Ben are the best; so knowledgeable, funny and welcoming. I know it’s going to be a hard but fun workout. Whenever I have a question or concern everyone is always able to help get me in the right direction. Love this place 💪🏼

I've loved being a part of this gym community - Ahmad, Ben and Chris are knowledgeable, encouraging and so fun to be around! I came in with an endurance foundation, but didn't have a great understanding of strength training & how important it was to keep me healthy and injury-free. The training plans are easy to follow, well-structured and make it easy to progress as you get stronger. The coaches are the best part of this place & I've loved getting to know them! Cannot recommend Warhorse enough, from the convenient class times & well-maintained equipment to the incredible staff, this place is worth all the praise.

Warhorse is truly a special place. Chris and Jaclyn have built a community that is incredibly welcoming, supportive and fun. The coaches (special shout out to Ahmad) are best-in-class. They work with you to tailor a plan that will help you reach your goals and meet you where you’re at.
Three weeks before my last marathon I was struggling with a nagging injury, filled with self-doubt and ready to scratch from my race. Chris helped me come up with a game plan that got me to the start line feeling confident despite my less than ideal training block and I ended up running a personal best. Training at Warhorse is one of the best investments I’ve ever made and I cannot recommend it enough.
If you’re thinking of trying Warhorse out, this is your sign to do it. I promise you won’t regret it!

I joined their south philly location a few months ago after several months of looking for the right (for me) community and programming. I have done things like CrossFit for years but was looking for a more specialized & focused program for managing my various injuries and needs, especially as a middle-aged person. This place rules. The team is excellent at helping me modify movements for my ability and skill level. The community is welcoming and non-judgmental. Ahmed is my main coach there and he's awesome and funny and very patient. He's given me so many great technical cues on how to lift better. He helped me do a much better deadlift, both the conventional and sumo, than I ever have in my life. I am currently dealing with a meniscus tear in one of my knees and he has been modifying my workouts to help manage and improve things while I heal. I also have hyper mobility through my entire body and the program they're having me follow is helping to build my strength and stability. I've never actually had coaches before that know and understand the particular issues related to hyper mobility and how to help manage and improve it. I highly recommend this gym. You'll learn & grow and make new friends while working towards your own personal goals.

I started here on my last day of Physical Therapy for a herniated disc. I wanted to continue my recovery journey from a couple injuries (herniated disc, broken toe, chronic ankle sprains).
I HIGHLY recommend this gym for anyone having anxiety about joining. This is a great place for all skill levels. The coaches are so approachable & happy to answer questions while provided so much information about form and technique.
Ahmad, Chris, & Ben have been wonderful coaches and I look forward to training 3x a week! My back pain has gone away & they are coaching me so I can lift to my best abilities! 10/10!

I cannot say enough positive things about WHBC South! Before joining, I belonged to another gym and would go to random classes and try different exercises on my own. Becoming a member at WHBC has honestly changed my life in an amazing way. I am feeling stronger, more confident and actually look forward to my workouts. The coaches are great, and Ahmad, especially, makes you feel safe and supported while challenging you with a tailored program specifically designed for your goals. I love being able to track and feel my progress, which contributes to my motivation to always show up. If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible place to get strong, Warhorse is for you!

I came to Warhorse Grad Hospital with a solid history of strength training, mostly with kettlebells and strongman implements at a Crossfit-style gym that did metcon workouts.
When I train at Warhorse, I don't leave feeling absolutely wiped, which is how all the workouts I used to do had me. At Warhorse, the focus is steadily on strength, using a reasonable set/rep range that allows me to progress and recover. I don't dread coming to the gym because I don't walk out of there nearly a dead woman- yet at the same time I am absolutely challenged, encouraged, and pushed. I'm really grateful to have this sustainable approach to strength training at this point in my life. Ahmad is the man.

I have been training at Warhorse for a little over 6 months now. Finding this place is one of the best things I have done for myself in a very long time. I was intimidated at first. I had done personal training but by no means felt confident in lifting. I soon realized this place was a positive and welcoming environment and that intimidation went away. When I first reached out to the gym, Jaclyn promptly replied to my endless emails and answered all my questions. She helped identify what plan made sense for my lifestyle. I wanted a personal trainer. Something one on one. I was working through a bad hip impingement and wanted dedicated attention to help me work through that. And to be honest, I wanted a coach to teach me better form and force me to lift heavy things (and squat…and do lunges… and all the things I despise and avoid doing alone). After that point I started training one on one with Chris. I’ve had a few trainers in adulthood, but Chris stands out as the most impactful coach I have ever had. There are a few reasons for that.
He meets me where I am at. In my past experience, I have gone through personal training programs where I really pushed myself and gone full out and then seriously burnt myself out. I would crash, anxiety would take over and I would inevitably fail. Chris taught me something valuable this year. It’s about consistency and it’s not that deep. As a woman there are some days and weeks where we don’t have as much energy as the one before. He listens to how I am feeling and adjusts the days plan accordingly. I leave feeling proud that I moved my body while honoring my body. Don't get me wrong we work hard AF. On the days and weeks where I have strength I am pushed to go full out and push it. But there are days where I have had the thought on my way to the gym that I just don’t have it in me. But I know I will be met by Chris who is flexible and reminds me its not that deep and that fear and anxiety of how I will perform or if I will be able to make it through my session just disappears. So i show up and I move my body. Because of this, I have never been this consistent, this STRONG or this dedicated to a process in my life. And I have seen incredible changes in my body and gains all while navigating an injury. This is the biggest win of all. I am so proud of myself and so grateful to Chris.
Another reason why Chris is so impactful as a coach is that he is honest, transparent and leads with respect. This is important because it makes me respect him and his time. I don’t expect him to babysit my lived fitness journey. I feel like I do my job outside of the gym with sleep and nutrition – that is on me. But I do feel accountable to myself, the program and his time enough to get my butt out of bed in the morning. And when I show up, I feel ready to work and honor the time we set aside. Because he is a good dude and a great coach. (Though it is a shame he is a Jets fan - Go Birds).
What also makes Warhorse a great space is that the other coaches are friendly and a joy to be around. So are the other members. It's such an inclusive environment. The other biggest plus is that the music is always on point. From Sound Garden to Kendrick Lamar, Taking Back Sunday to School Boy Q, or Sabrina Carpenter to Radiohead – it’s just great vibes. Also, Jaclyn’s tutorials on Instagram provide great insight on understanding certain movements and she gives great tips. I learn a lot from their content! Congrats to Jaclyn and Chris on creating such a great space. I feel lucky to train here.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to start out in weight/resistance training. Being a long-distance runner I never really did much resistance training and always felt too inexperienced going to a standard gym. The trainers at Warhorse are amazing. The ability to schedule your sessions guarantees access to equipment and never dealing with an overcrowded space. They offer a friendly and welcoming experience to people of all skill levels.

Prior to joining Warhorse, I was constantly injured, in pain, and fatigued. I used to spend a tremendous amount of time on YouTube and social media trying to self-diagnose and self-program. Today, I am (far) stronger than I have ever been, completely injury/pain free, and have confidence that I am training effectively and making real progress. It’s hard to overstate how important Warhorse has been to me and to this community.
When you walk into Warhorse, you’ll see a dozen squat racks occupied by people of all skill levels. Complete beginner lifters squatting next to elite level powerlifters, both training hard but safely. Every person’s body and fitness journey/goals are different. Jaclyn, Chris, and the team (special S/O to Ben, the absolute GOAT) take personal care to make sure each person is training to their specific needs. I especially benefitted from their expertise in working around my injury history and helping me to build up my weaknesses while playing to my strengths.
What I love most about warhorse is its inclusiveness. I have found a community here that celebrates people of all walks of life. It is a community centered around respect and hard work - values that are foundational to every aspect of Warhorse and modeled by Jaclyn, Chris, and the entire training staff.

Warhorse is absolutely a gem of Philadelphia. I had been following their online programming for some time prior to joining their gym in person once they arrived at Grad Hospital, and my expectations were totally exceeded.
They’ve shown time and time again, with myself and every other member of this gym to be adaptable to a wide range of experience, and also still willing to listen to what you actually want to do/achieve. I’ve been asked by every coach there what my goal is out of training, which was a huge green flag. They’ve also shown me countless new things, and ways to optimize the familiar things.
I think their quality of training ties in first place only with how friendly this environment is. Even if I’m tired, I actually look forward to my gym time. Vibes are 10/10. If you’re looking for the best experience of your life, look no further!!!!

Warhorse Barbell Club is an easy five stars!
I was a Crossfit athlete for five or so years wanting a little bit of a change. I had already been intrigued by Warhorse so when the grad hospital location opened I was excited to try it out there. I have always been more of a strength person vs. conditioning. They have far exceeded my expectations.
The coaches are both extremely knowledgeable and approachable. They are welcoming of all experience levels whether completely new to strength training or having prior experience. Since joining, I have registered for my first powerlifting meet and am beyond excited! It is so nice to have coaches who are excited to discover your capabilities.

Warhorse Barbell Club is truly a special place.
Since I started strength training at Warhorse, so many areas of my life have improved: my sleep, my physique, my chronic pain, my mental health.
Following a serious accident that left my hips, pelvis, and legs crushed, I spent about a year re-learning how to walk. Once I was back on my feet, my physical therapists gave me the green light to go back to the gym: but I floundered through commercial gyms for years, never truly addressing significant weaknesses leftover from my injuries.
I decided to give Warhorse a go. During my first consultation with Chris, we went over these injuries, and came up with an attack plan to get a baseline of strength back. Then, working with the incredible trainers to make modifications to key exercises, I started building that strength back.
Thanks to Warhorse, I’m navigating the floor and equipment with confidence. I’m lifting heavier than I ever have. And maybe most importantly, my pain and weakness have leveled off significantly. I’m about to turn 30, and I'm looking and feeling the best I've felt in my life.
Also — it’s clear they’ve built a community that’s inclusive, supportive, welcoming, and intolerant of hate or disrespect. I see all kinds of bodies when I look around the gym: black, white, gay, trans, male, female, older, younger. Everyone’s there to work hard, and get 1% better than they were. It's a safe place to do so.
Obviously the consistency part is on you: but if you're looking to build strength at a gym that will keep you accountable, interested, and encouraged — this is the place. It's the best there is.

This is the gym I’ve been searching for! The coaches are extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly, and it doesn’t matter if you’re new to fitness or have years of experience, they will tailor your training for your goals and abilities. So far, I’ve mostly worked with Chris, who is phenomenal, but every coach I’ve met has been great. I love how the programming is designed so that you have an idea of what to expect on a given day, but it’s still interesting and fun, not overly repetitive. To top it all off, the space is attractive and everyone else who is there to train is friendly, creating a sense of camaraderie. 10/10, highly recommend.
