Maria, Misha, Kayla, Ryan and the rest of the gang are some of the best trainers I've ever worked with. They are relentlessly positive, and take it as a personal mission to motivate their trainees to love their fitness journey. I worked mostly with Maria and I found her breadth of knowledge, teaching skill, and good cheer all equally refreshing after a lot of bad experiences with trainers at other gyms. Speaking of which: this gym emphasizes safety, a familial atmosphere, and strong community. And they offer espresso before your workout!

WCWL has been very helpful for me during this time of rehab from a foot injury. Working with Ryan, Maria, and Kayla I have grown to understand what my body can do and grow my self confidence in working out. Maria and Kayla are my primary coaches and have been wonderful. They are both very knowledgeable, kind, understanding, and meet you where you’re at! I sustained foot problems from rugby and have been taking a break. After two months of work at WCWL my feet and ankles have been doing much better, I’ve gained a lot of strength, and confident that next season I will be out on the pitch in full force! I love going here with my mom and on my own. It’s so nice to see other families working out and people coming in and supporting each other. I will be coming as much as I can between breaks. I love working with all of the instructors they all have very helpful advice and are extremely encouraging especially when you are just staring out. I am going to miss everyone when I go off to college but I’ll be back!

I moved to the area and wanted to find a gym as I have always been active on my own. I went in for strength training and transitioned to adding Olympic lifting to my programming at the insistence of the trainer assigned to me. After months of training here I DO NOT recommend them to anyone. I was originally told I would be paired with a trainer who best suited my needs and goals as it was clear during the sit down that the woman selling me on a training membership would not be the right fit. that did not happen, after months I was not seeing any results and she began pushing me to try the lifting side of the training facility, I had always wanted to try it so figured why not-maybe I will see results from that instead.
Come to find out she didn’t even have the certifications to be doing personal training and only had her Olympic lifting ones. While she was away I worked with a different coach and saw an immediate difference in my training (also helped that apparently that trainer had a lot of background training both lifting and personal training). Well now when I asked an employee if I could switch to that trainer not only was I made to feel like a horrible person for doing so but I was told she no longer works there.
I then asked who has the same training as her WITH the certifications she had(lifting, PT, etc.) they looked at me like I was crazy and couldn’t answer.
They have no employees with the proper training and it shows if you pay attention. To add to it when you look around you are paying for personal training and programming and everyone is doing the same thing.
I went out of convenience and will now be finding someplace new in the area.

I have been athletic for most of my life, and have also had a number of broken bones, stroke and pregnancies all in my 20s. After gaining lots of weight after divorce in my 40s I was feeling the lowest of low in my body. I found WC Weightlifting, and with the encouragement of the amazing folks there, specifically Maria, I am feeling strong, confident and gaining balance everyday. The community is unparalleled, I have never been to a gym with such supportive members and I am excited to show up every time I go. The equipment Ryan has filled the gym with is top quality, the atmosphere is extremely supportive and met me where I was at, and continues to. I came to to West Chester to improve my Olympic Lifting for Crossfit and ended up loving Oly even more. The coaching is phenomenal, particularly Coach Ryan and Coach Maria, They really take time to figure out how to help you improve your lifts but do it at the right pace so i have continued to make progress but never feel overwhelmed. She is personable, positive, pays great attention to form and is overall just a really great trainer!! I have been lifting with Kristin, Ryan and the crew here since August. I’ve already seen so much progress! The environment is very supportive and the staff are all very knowledgable. These are highly technical movements but I feel safe being guided through them with the expertise here. You should definitely give it a try. I have had chronic pain issues that have since disappeared. I have a much easier time sitting all day at my desk job. Seriously, if you’re on the fence, invest in yourself - Weightlifting changes lives!

I can't recommend Misha and Ryan highly enough! I am new to strength training but from the moment I walked into their gym, I knew I was in good hands. Their passion for fitness is contagious, and their knowledge is truly impressive.
What sets them apart is their personalized approach. They took the time to understand my current fitness level and accordingly set goals for me. They didn't just focus on the physical aspect; they also emphasized the importance of nutrition and proper rest from time to time. Also, their dedication is commendable. 6 years ago I lost over 100 pounds but I never did strength training or improved my balance or mobility. I still moved like I was obese. Recently I took a chance and decided to get out of my comfort zone and started with a beginner session at West Chester Weightlifting and I love it! They met me where I was (very beginner) and they encouraged me and pushed me when needed. I feel stronger physically and mentally. My balance and mobility improved too. Let me start off by saying I’ve never been a gym girlie. The gym-timidation was real and I had zero self-motivation to work out. Luckily, I had a friend who posted social media updates of her weightlifting journey at West Chester Weightlifting and that inspired me to take the initial 6 one-on-one sessions to “just try it out.” I am now on my 34th one-on-one and loving each one more than the last. I can’t emphasize enough how much I’ve enjoyed my sessions at WC Weightlifting and with the owner, Ryan. I’ve learned so much and the community is amazing. Everyone is always so happy to see you, even as a newbie. I always feel supported by the coach and anyone else who is there. Through West Chester Weightlifting, I’ve gained a new love for lifting and improved my relationship with my body.

This is a wonderful gym. The facilities are incredible - clean, organized, and have every piece of equipment that you can imagine. The coaching is top notch. The staff has expertise in their field, are extremely attentive, and give thoughtful feedback. This is an environment that an experienced lifter would love and at the same time, is accessible and welcoming to new lifters. I purchased a six-session personal training package with Ryan at West Chester weightlifting. Ryan made me feel incredibly welcome in his ultra clean Rogue equipped gym. I received expert coaching including in the moment video recording of my movements with immediate corrective feedback and praise. Ryan really knows lifting and kinesthetics. My favorite weightlifting gym in the Philadelphia suburbs! Friendly atmosphere, patient and up-to-date coaches, team spirit, and a good range of equipment. The 1:1 on-ramp lessons with coaches Ryan, Jenny, and Maeva helped me pinpoint my top areas for improvement and develop good technique from the start. After finishing these lessons, they still work with me during group classes to give me pointers and support. The members are a diverse mix of beginners, intermediates, and seasoned weightlifters who help one another in each other’s goals. I have been coming to WC weightlifting for private lessons and a few group sessions for a few months now. I am very happy to have found a Olympic weightlifting gym that focuses on the details of the lift and help me improve every step. WC weightlifting also holds regular challenge events and support the members in various weightlifting competitions, giving the members opportunities for growth.

This place is wonderful! I've been coming here for about 3 months. My olympic lifts, back squat, and front squat have really improved in that short amount of time! I have really noticed how much better my technique is than when I started, and I am way more consistent in all the lifts. I've been learning so much coming to WCWL!

I can't recommend WC Weightlifting enough. I've been training at WC Weightlifting since November. The thing that makes this gym is Ryan. The care, time, and skilled training he offers is bar none. I'm in my mid forties, came from a short stint at crossfit where I learned the olympic lifts, so im out of shape with a lot of chronic issues and pain, and Ryan has always been there to help me through everything. It's his constant encouragement that keeps me going.

Yes, you should go. The community is small.
There are some teens, some twenties, some professional aged and some retirement age. It's very familiar. It's like one big highschool team but with people of all ages. The bars and stuff are in ultra good condition. You won't be yelled at that much if you don't want. The coaching is fastidious. You won't find a better place for oly lifting.

West Chester Weightlifting has everything I look for in a gym: well-kept and clean equipment; friendly and approachable members; and a great staff with knowledgeable and helpful coaches. I walked into WCWL after taking a few years off from lifting, but I learned so much in the month I had trained there before I relocated out of the area. I felt like a beginner again, but Ryan and team really stress the fundamentals over everything. This allowed me to feel safe and confident in lifting after rehabbing an unrelated low back injury a few weeks prior. The programming is awesome and scalable to every level. Most importantly, WCWL feels like a community and I know I have a great spot to get a workout in when I'm in Chester County!

Since coming to WCWL my strength has progressed to a point that shocked me! I am doing things that I never knew my body could do. Ryan and the other coaches want the best for their athletes and want them to succeed. The coaches here are very knowledgeable about the lifts and safety overall. I found them through Instagram, their posts are reality, West Chester Weightlifting is a slick, well run program that is accommodating to people from all levels of experience. For this review to be helpful, I want to share a little background about where I came from. I was a 5 day a week gym goer who felt like the lifts were getting boring, and I loved the athleticism and grace of olympic lifting. So I joined, and being a bit older, I felt a bit out of place. That was quickly put to rest. There is a special camaraderie among the more experienced lifters, but it's not by any means exclusive. Everyone was extremely friendly, but this isn't a gym where people sit around and talk, everyone is definitely focused on their program. Ryan puts together a great tailored program for each person, and it's varied each week so never boring. As a coach, Ryan is detailed, motivating, and he doesn't put pressure on you, but works with you to achieve your goals. The equipment is the best of the best, it's mostly all Eleiko, but there is some Uesaka, Rogue, and other stuff, and it's kept meticulously clean and in functioning order. They also have the most essential gear: reverse hyper, a real hyper extension, and a few other things I never found in my local weightlifting gym. If you are on the fence about this program, I encourage you to dive right in, it is a gem in the area. I would be there now, if it weren't for the fact that I moved, and am currently overseas in Africa. :)
