Best gym in Philly for old school dirty workouts from 1984....never seen somewhere so dirty and unorganized I'm surprised health department doesn't shut it down...But I love it

I've been coming to World Gym on and off since 2005 (I've had to make several moves in and out of the area). This is one of the last few remaining real gyms in the area. The machines may not be new and pretty but they work better than any of the ones at the other commercial fitness centers. There are plenty of free weights available. The dumbbells go over 120lbs. There is a good variety of barbells, axle bars, trap bars, sleds, plyometrics boxes etc. They also have bumper plates for olympic lifts and many other unique features that you'll never find at a big box commercial gym. The gym is usually never too crowded. It's a large warehouse type building so there is good air ventilation, even in the summer... unlike some of the aforementioned fitness centers which in my experience are unbearable in the summers Bc of poor ventilation. For the price, you can't beat this gym. Whatever your fitness goals are, you'll be able to fulfill them at World Gym.

I come here to work out because it is a gym. The staff behind the counter are very friendly and always smiling and waving at me every time I come in and leave. I cannot think of any homier gym that I would like to go to. such friendly faces in friendly places and I can really enjoy my work out peacefully over here they always have enough equipment for everyone to use the place is a bit rough and old but that doesn't stop anyone from a good workout. They are redoing now with some renovations. So make sure to get in before the place fills up

I’ve been a member at worlds gym for about a year now, and i think its a great gym with a lot of good equpment for old school bodybuilding. Not to mention has a basketball court and tanning which i do not use but its good to know its there to use. Also the hours are Convenient open 24hrs with good weekend hours they close pretty late on weekends which is good because people barely go to the gym on weekends. Also its never packed like all other gyms which is a plus probably never will have to wait till someone is done on something for you to use it. The only negative thing is the memebers do not put weigjts and dumbells back so it looks a mess and you have to look for matching dumbell. Maybe if employees walked the floor more often enforcing this things will be better. With all this said this gym if great overall in my opinion people that do not like this gym should go to planet fitness cardio heaven with light weights and quiet atmosphere this gym is not that kind of gym and me personally i love it.

Ive been off and on at Worlds Gym since about 2010, 8 years. I always had great results. Some of my best results were from here. Ive been to gyms all over this city as well as nationally and internationally .The owner Bob is a good person at heart but sometimes it doesnt show. I think showing that side more would certainly attract more customers. However, the difference between this gym and many others are a good amount of the patrons don't take pride in their gym and mishandle weights (putting weights back) and equipment. Perhaps have the employees walk the floor more and kindly teach the young patrons gym etiquette. The workers do their best to keep up, especially Mac and you can't beat the price of $10/month for an old school REAL gym especially when your up against rubber weight, corporate gyms like LA and planet fitness which I have trouble getting motivated in. Iron weights=better results in my experience. Regardless, remember to take care of your mind and spirit as well as your body.

World Gym In North East Really Disappointed Me I Figured They Would Specify About 24 Hours Which Most Gyms Are But This One Did Not Make It Clear Nor Did The Owner Want To Come To A Mutual Agreement . It Works Horrible With Hours. It is only 24 Hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, And Thursday . Unbelievable . 🚫 Don't Even Think About Signing Up ! 🚷 The Equipments are All Broken And Worn Out. Also the equipments are Dirty And 80% Of The Equipment is Broken. The Lockers Don't Work. It's Freezing Cold. He Intentionally Lowers The Temperature To Save Money (Greedy) .

This gym is perfectly fine. There are no roaches and rats in the locker room. The equipment is great. Some people just don't really take care of it and the owner does his best to keep it clean. He really depends on the patrons to clean up after themselves which almost never happens.

You also almost never have to wait to use equipment. There are usually several different options for the same exercise. So if you can't improvise your workout, then this isn't the place for you.

I wish I could give 0 stars. The gym is always a mess. I douse myself in Purel when I get to my car after workouts for fear of MRSA. Nothing ever gets wiped down, the equipment, which came out last century, is ripped and broken. The Dumbbells are always a disaster and the dumbbell style hasn't been made since 1992. The owner is a jerk. Myself and a friend had forgotten our badges, most gyms have up to date technology that came out in 2004 that allows you to just say your last name and no worries. Apparently Worlds does not and the owner repeatedly talked down to my friend and I saying it's not that hard to remember the badge. I tried to explain to him that it is in my bag which is in my car that my wife had to use. And he continued to talk down saying t is not hard to remember o grab your badge before you leave the house. I was completely offended that this man was talking to me as if I was a child. He made a stink over a badge when he allows anyone to come in for a fee without a badge, just to play basketball, which results in shootings. Look it up. After I confronted him for being rude, he told me to leave. inresponded by telling him to clean this dump which he told me, "why don't you try and do what I did?" Mr. Boyle, if you are bragging that you created that bacterial cesspool, I feel sorry for you. If you are proud of that awful place, then there is something deeply wrong with you. The neighborhood hates you and has told me how rude, and cheap you are and how you are just after making more money. The reviews here state the same. You be proud of your dump. I doubt it will be around much longer.

I never write reviews, ever, but had to write this review to challenge you to think for yourselves. Where are so many unhappy campers are coming from. They are unhappy with life period. Ive always had a pleasant experience. Can the place be a little cleaner and some fresh paint, maybe. But that does not prevent me from getting a good pump. The owner always greats me at the front desk and says "enjoy your workout, and thank you for coming and see you again" when i leave. I like it here. I don't come here to socialize. Owner is a super rude guy. I explained that the locked room had mice and roaches and he basically dismissed it saying most gyms do. Machines are decades old and the entire facility is disgusting. I dont know how they dont get shut down just for that. Free weights are a mess and never put back. Total nightmare experience from start to finish.

I've been a member here for years. Has the necessary equipment and space, but it is a mess. Never taken care of. Owner is an unreasonable and disrespectful individual. Seems to decide who comes in based on racial profiling. Would never recommend this gym. If planet fitness doesn't suit you, other hardcore gyms in the area would. LOOK ELSEWHERE! It honestly is not a proper gym, should've gotten rid of the membership a while back.

Me and my friends came to play basketball and we were figuring out

and obnoxious so we asked told him to calm down and instead he started cursing at us and to get the f**k out of the gym and when we where outside another group of guys just came out and said that the owner just kicked them out i am never going to that place again in my life just because of the owner worst person ever if u want a nice gym to go to planet fitness or la fitness is the place to be where its ten dollars a month and their are hot girls who are nice that work their don't go here ever

Okay this gym has a lot of different reviews. I understand why and hopefully this one will help. If you are from the more advanged walk of life, and use to paying 40+ at like a Philadelphia Sports Club or YMCA. This place is probably not for you. If you are use to working out in a "dungeon" style environment, like a Joe Frazier's gym, or a mom and pops you'll love it. It has every traditional thing you need, none of the newer fad type stuff. B-Ball court, MMA training, smaller sectioned of studio for yoga, group trainings etc...So is this gym the best? No not by any means, but it's not the worst either.
